I've been coming here for years and travel past other fish and chip shops to come here. Good food. Friendly service. Pretty good prices.

Stopped by today for our first visit today as we live round the corner. This is hands down the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. My local in east London held the title for 10 years but this has just taken 1st place. The staff were so friendly and so were the customers which is always a good sign. Smiles, joy and impeccable food which is cooked with passion. Thank you Shirley and gang Xxx

Great service. Good selection on menu. Efficient Covid system with only one allowed in the shop at a time. Wait outside for your order.

Great service and keeping Covid safe too, the chip portion size isn't quite rivalling to that of Francine's but they're just as good. The shop is kept in good condition and clean. A bonus is being able to sit in your car and the staff bringing your order out to you, something I believe most other chippies do not offer.

I called in on my way home and have nothing by praise for this site. The ladies serving were extremely polite helpful and above all made me feel welcome. Their customer skills were fantastic and I told my girlfriend how impressed I was. The fish and chips were delicious and will definitely be going back again

Fair price for a large cod and chips. Fish was a decent size and cooked fresh so the batter was lovely and crispy. Chips finished me off, large portion was very generous and fresh chips, none of these frozen ones. Will happily visit again.

If you get there early you get brilliant chips.

Fish always fried when order clean and very friendly

Decent food in general. Service is good, cooked to order so expect a few minutes wait. Unless I'm out of touch with traditional fish and chip shops the cost is at the higher end of what you would expect to be honest. The cost is the only thing that takes it away from five stars. We went here for the first time today and both me and my partner agreed that the chips were the nicest we have had in years. Usually we are very disappointed with the chips but Shirley's were really tasty and we both finished the portion which is unusual. We will definitely be making this our chip shop to go to now. We are really glad we tried them. Much better than Francines around the corner.

We went there after we both finished work at 07-00 pm one evening, the service was excellent, as they were closing at eight, the service was still excellent, and the food was fantastic & kept it's heat right up to the point that we sat down after changing out of our work clothes, 10/10

Always use Shirley's, definitely the best fish and chips around. Large portions even when u ask for a medium they seem like a large.shirley and her staff are always happy, great customer service..will continue to visit.

Very good fish & chips . I had the haddock & medium chips . It was superb , can’t fault it . Cooked to perfection , you have to wait for individual orders and it’s worth it . Service was good and efficient . This was a Thursday so I don’t know about Fridays Thank you , my second visit

I am a regular customer of shirleys, food is delicious, service is great always friendly and very well priced, my only criticism would be that the owner hovers over the staff and never seems to let them get on with the job without pointing out theyce done it wrong, sometimes it's a bit cringe worthy and I feel embarrassed for them.

Shirley's cheesy chips and gravy were just what I needed after a five hour drive from the Midlands to Devonport. Perfect, and lovely thick gravy that I could spread on my chips! Yum!

Great fish and chips, freshly cooked large portion of chunky cod fillet with well cooked chips, plenty of them and nice and crispy without being overcooked. Offered the meal deal of fish and chips for a fiver a head so great value as well! Would definitely return again. Only improvement was the batter could have been a little lighter.

We always get our occasional Friday night treat from Shirley's. We have never been disappointed X the portion sizes are very big and the food is very tasty.

If you have not tried Shirleys take away food you are missing probably the best fish ever, in fact never had bad food from there. TRY IT.

I've been to other chippys in the area but like this one the best. Always friendly, good choice, lots of special deals and everything cooked fresh to order - not too long a wait even when busy. Parking is quite easy.

Highly recommend! We stopped in here on a busy Saturday night around 9pm and ate in (five adults and two children). Had the hake as it was the daily catch on their board. Absolutely perfect - flaky moist fish, crispy light batter, chips also perfect. Service was efficient and tables clean, although it was slightly cramped. Undoubtedly the best fish and chips I have ever eaten.

when I am in the area I always goes to shirleys fish and chip shop, the service is second to none always friendly helpful staff. produce cooked fresh on site while you wait ( which doesn't take that long ) lots of special deals,easy to park and their spicy spuds and home made fish cakes are to die for. please keep up the good work, customer for life!!!!!!

They have no idea what salt and vinegar are. The owner is irratating and the hired help is miserable as sin. Excessive use of polystyrene. The fish was still dripping in oil when I got home and chips were luke warm. Save your money and buy from elsewhere.

If the chips were crispier I would always go here rather than other nearby chippies. The staff are friendly, parking fine, like the sausages and fish. Just need crispier chips and would be the perfect local chippy! Definitely try if you live in the area.

Not as big or trendy as nearby Francene's but a useful functional local chip shop with less queueing or fuss, parking is also easier but prices much the same. Sometimes wonder a bit about the fish size and quality but not enough to complain.
