I highly recommend the Harbour Café on Erdington High Street,it is light & airy, clean, and is a very welcoming friendly place with lovely staff. The food is lovely also..I recently had a cheese and mushroom omelette here and it was lovely. The Latte and Cappuccino coffees are really nice also. All the meals here are very nice! I am part of the St Barnabas church family and I love the whole place...it has a lovely feel to it at St Barnabas.I eat regulary in the Harbour café with friends from church & find it very tranquil and relaxing here away from all the hustle & bustle of the Erdington High Street.Without a doubt it is the nicest place to eat around here & you'll always be met with a smile & a welcome so I recommend you come and eat at the Harbour at St Barnabas church & why not also take a look around our lovely church and take time to sit and relax in the quiet of this lovely place.

It is located on the High Street, in the main shopping centre area of Erdington. The church was built as a chapel of ease between 1822-23. Spiritual place to sip a cup of coffee... Nice and very inspiration church music voice when you drinking your coffee. Beautiful view and the church was famous for its sixteen stained glass windows depicting scenes of the life of Jesus and stories from the scriptures, including the Raising of Lazarus.

I have visited the Harbour Cafe several times for lunch, and the food is always enjoyable and reasonably priced. I usually have a sandwich but they also sell paninis, jacket potatoes and soup etc. Sandwiches are all made to order, so taste very fresh. There is also good selection of home made cakes.Tables are kept clean, and are quite well spaced, so you don't feel like you are crammed in on top of each other.

St Barnabas, Erdington.Famous for its stained glass windows...It got pointlessly torched by somebody a few years ago, taking out the roof, all the interior and most of the windows. After the Church burned, it remained tarped up for... years it seems, with workmen eventually arriving and doing mysterious things under the covers. The covers finally came off, a chrysalis splitting, and what emerged was... not the old church. New roof, weird curvy modern architecture, lots of glass. To be frank, I didn't like it much. I'm a fan of traditional church architecture- masonry, seasoned hardwood pews, stained glass. Don't really like all this railway station and polytechnic tubes and pressed-steel slabs look but after a while I started to dislike it less and longer after that I began to appreciate the rescued building as a bold statement and an honest attempt to do something reasonable with modern materials and techniques and a comparatively modest budget.I'd been circling it warily for at least a year before I wandered up to within biting distance and stepped up to its vicious automatic glass jaws.Gnash!I found myself inside and by golly, it wasn't half bad.The old exterior (North?) wall had become the interior South wall of a large buttressing atrium, with a glass wall looking out onto Erdington High Street with a café bar at the east end. It was all very attractive and I was amazed."Do you have humble pie?" I asked over the counter."No, but we've got coffee and walnut cake... etc."So I had a slice of cake and a large latte. It was very good. All the cakes have that sort of W.I. home-made character; a bit over-sweet, quite crumbly and not at all chemically.I'm not sure if it's paid staff or volunteers but my first visit or two had me being served by rather bumbling, pleasant folk who took forever to turn up with the wrong order. It's tightened up a lot since then but it never was the sort of place to go if one is in a tearing rush. I think the doors are all manual now but that could be a maintenance issueThere's a small selection of light-bite savoury stuff on offer - baked spuds and the like – but it's really a coffee shop. The name "Harbour Cafe" seems to be themed after Barnabas, a much ravelled apostle, sidekick to St. Paul and (alleged) writer of the non-canon Gospel of Barnabas which is very important in Islam and Gnosticism and contradicts much of the Credo, but this isn't the forum to discuss that. Anyway, it's St. Barney's church and it's Harbour Cafe. The vandalized and refurbished church is only a few steps away from the café seating and they're steps worth taking. It's a bit of an Oasis of calm in there; goes well with a cuppa.Apart from the obvious proximity, the religious stuff isn't thrust down one's throat and there's no attempt to proselytize or cult-capture anyone. It's a sort of not very fast, fast food joint. I like that.I like it in there.

A friend put me onto this place, what a find. This cafe has it all. Against a background of stained glass windows, the cheerful staff serve freshly prepared breakfasts, sandwiches etc. at very reasonable prices. I noted tables being cleared promptly too. Great buzz to the place with lots going on for the community.

Visited the Harbour Cafe today with my daughter for a late lunch. This vibrant cafe is at the heart of the community at St Barnabas Church on Erdington High Street and is a real gem of a place. Spacious, light cafe with views over the High Street and churchyard so lots to watch whilst enjoying lunch. Lovely menu with everything freshly prepared. I had a tuna salad with fresh crunchy salad veg (very generous portions) and my daughter had a delicious sausage and onion panini with melted cheese and tomato relish and beautiful fresh carrot cake. Noticed they had a board with specials which change each day. Nothing too much trouble for friendly staff. Very good cappaccino made from proper Italian espresso machine - beautifully finished off with design on top. Much nicer than the sterile Costa or Starbucks experience. Our bill was under £10 which is really excellent value for such delicious fare. Would highly recommend and will be returning soon.

A visit to Erdington village fête, on the outskirts of Birmingham, which included a blacksmith demonstration, wood carving demonstration and many stalls, was made even more enjoyable with a visit to The Harbour Café. The café is part of the St Barnabas church on the high street. The Parish church of St Barnabas, with its origins going back to 1823, suffered a devastating fire in the early hours of 4 October 2007 and has since been rebuilt utilising some of the surviving structure. As a party of three, we had: a full English breakfast; bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich; tuna melt (tuna, cheese, and red onion). For drinks, two of our number had filter coffees; the third member of our group had milk. The café is an appendage incorporated sympathetically against the outside wall. The café environment is welcoming, comfortable and just off the high street with wheel chair access. The menu is varied, reasonably priced, cooked and presented to a high standard. Opening times are 10am – 4pm Mon-Sat, except Thursday when the café closes at 3:30pm.

I love this Cafe, it's my absolute favourite place to visit for coffee and cake in Erdington. Beautifully created and attached to the side of the lovely St Barnabas Church on Erdington's High Street, it's the perfect place to hide from the bustling little centre. Reasonably priced homely food served by very friendly staff.

Met with friends for our monthly breakfast club. The place was buzzing at 10.30 on this beautiful Autumn morning. Plenty of parking in this exclusive 4 Oaks area of Sutton Coldfield. Fortunately we booked a table. The menu was spot on and I had the breakfast wrap. Unusually they don't do scrambled eggs which was a surprise for my colleague. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was great as were the drinks. The Bistro is just a couple of minutes walk to one of the picturesque lakes.

Food is very, very clean best in the area. Some people reviewed as 2 expensive, what do they want it 4 free. Service is really good with out being over the top. Very impressive.
