I have been going to the hamlet for years and have loved it, however the last experience will be my LAST time- due to the rude and dismissive manager. Booked a table online for 2:30pm unbeknown to use the Resturant didn’t open until 4pm so when we arrived everything was closed. So we went to a cafe across the road to wait for 1.5 hours. When we came back at 4pm we mentioned the error to the manager politely as we where being seated and she was rude, had an unpleasant attitude, was dismissive and brushed us off basically it was our fault as they don’t open until 4pm - we’ll if that’s the case then there’s clearly an ERROR with YOUR website. We then ordered drinks but after the negative interaction with the female manager the atmosphere was off. We ordered 1 round of drinks and they weren’t the usual standard (Mai TAi tasted like Pure orange juice was missing some syrup) went to the bar to ask to add a lil syrup and was told that that’s how it should taste !! The cheek of it !! Its my favourite drink I know how it should taste- so we left straight after. Very disappointing experience in my opinion the manager is very defensive and needs customer service training to de-escalate situations rather than escalate them and the bartender was a lil Heavy on the juice no big problem but if a customer is telling you something you should take notice and try and resolve the issue.

Very nice place to have dinner. Lovely atmosphere, good food, friendly staff. I had salmon and it was very good. The freschi wine helps 😂😂😂😂

This was the perfect venue for my 30th. The private room is great, well decorated and a great space for dinner and dancing. Elsa and her team are amazing, they made sure throughout the whole evening that everyone was well looked after along with also speaking to me regularly leading up to the function to ensure everything was as I would like. The food at The Hamlet is amazing, i've eaten there a few times before and on the night of my party everyone was raving about their food! You are made to feel like you are in your own home, extremely relaxed and such a friendly atmosphere. I couldn't have wished for a better 30th.

My sister had her 30th birthday celebrations at the Hamlet on Friday evening downstairs in the private room. Everything was PERFECT. My sister decided to book there due to having a previous drink at the hamlet which ended in being there for the whole day and night due to the delicious food wine and amazing friendly service. The food is honestly AMAZING the pasta dish is better than any pasta I have had. The whole team at hamlet are so welcoming and friendly and if you are undecided about booking a party or event here … this is a review to say DO IT you will not be disappointed. We will be back again soon x xx

I spent some time with my family to celebrate an important event. We needed to find somewhere to accommodate "I think" 23 of us at short notice. We had difficulty in finding a venue. We then discovered Hamlets in Streatham. OMG . . . The Food was like a soft breeze on a summers day - wonderful and enjoyable. The Food was absolutely the tastiest and most fulfilling that I have had the privilege of experiencing in a long time. Hamlets is a superb discovery which I will never forget. The Service was professionally executed and thier expert hospitality skills are impeccable. I am very impressed by these qonderful people. Well done Hamlets of Streatham.

I had a pre-Christmas lunch with my two grown-up sons here yesterday - not for the first time - and it was an absolute treat, in every way, from beginning to end. The ambience is warm and intimate, the welcome is genuine and the staff are friendly and efficient. We ate a la carte, and the menu was well balanced and interesting, including classic staple dishes. The cooking was spot-on and our waiter (who remembered us from three years back, and seemed very pleased to see us again) was affable but punctilious. The drinks are first-class, and the pricing very fair for the quality provided. We had a magical couple of hours there, and I can't praise this wine bar-style restaurant highly enough. My sincere thanks to all concerned, and well done indeed!

I’ve been wanting to come to The Hamlet since I moved to Streatham in 2017, yet it’s only during pandemic times I have visited local places instead of travelling into the city. This place did not disappoint. The tables have all been pulled out into the high street - draught beer, cocktails and sharing platters to curb the hunger away (they also do full meals). Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the place when we can sit inside and come to the DJ nights.

Visited here last Friday with some friends. It was ok, attentive staff, ok food, but expensive for what it is. However be warned: I used a credit card just issued to me which was used fraudulently by someone who went shopping a couple of days later. I very strongly suspect one or both of the ‘attentive’ staff were involved and I don’t write this lightly. Yes innocent until proven guilty but having thought long and carefully over this all roads lead to this restaurant. Ps. Check out the negative google reviews. They are spot on.

Went for what started as a bit of food and a bottle of wine on a Saturday afternoon, but the whole experience was so good we were still there 3 hours later. The staff were so so friendly and informative and really make the place feel welcoming. We tried three different wines, all lovely, and the hummus was to die for! It was quite windy and we were offered blankets which was a lovely touch. We will absolutely be back again and can't wait to pop next door for a spa treatment soon too! Thanks for a great afternoon.

I’ve visited several times and again last night and this bar and restaurant has the best atmosphere. Great music, cocktails (expresso martini was incredible) and friendly staff that will go above and beyond for you.

Be prepared to pay 12.5% service charge just for a drink ! Went to the Hamlet For a drink on Saturday night and first impressions were positive, nice decor, warm and a free table. We sat right beside the bar and had 2 cocktails - which were very good but pricey at £9 each. Everything was ok until we asked for the bill and noticed 12.5% service added to our bill. We asked for a new bill Minus the service charge. I will refuse to pay service when I have had a drink that is no more that one foot from the bar. For this reason I wouldn’t go back to the Hamlet.

Desde el momento en que mi esposa y yo entramos, fuimos recibidos por una señora que hizo todo lo posible para acomodarnos, incluso en un ajetreado viernes por la noche. Estábamos preparados para esperar unos 10/15 minutos, y nos dieron una mesa vacía pero reservada; Durante este tiempo nos sirvieron cócteles y varios miembros del personal se nos acercaron para ver si estábamos bien y para tomar nuestras opciones del menú.Después de este tiempo, nos dieron un asiento en el área de la planta baja y rápidamente servimos entrantes, seguidos poco después por nuestros platos principales, y al igual que con el servicio, la calidad de la comida y los cócteles era de muy buena calidad. . . el cordero fue increíble!Esta es una ubicación muy íntima, hogareña pero vibrante, llena de carácter y un personal increíble que se asegurará de que brinden el mejor y más atento servicio hasta que salgas, ofreciendo una conversación amistosa y sonriendo todo el camino.¡Muchas gracias chicos! Estaba tan emocionada de visitar Hamlet, escuché mucho sobre eso y cuando miramos el menú no pudimos esperar. Llegamos allí, y tuve el queso de cabra y la cebolla caramelizada, cavé y sabía un poco rancio, había un sabor extraño, me encanta el queso de cabra y lo he tenido muchas veces en muchos lugares, pero esta vez simplemente no lo hice por mi Pedimos nuestros platos principales, tenía el cordero, pero antes de que llegara nuestra comida, pude escuchar un microondas en la cocina, culpar a Gordon Ramsay, pero ese sonido me apagó por completo. Cuando llegó la comida, el cordero estaba muy caliente hasta el punto de que salía vapor, pero las verduras y el puré estaban moderadamente calientes. Mi compañero tenía una hamburguesa de pollo, y creímos que el pan también se metió en el microondas. Los platos principales sabían bien, pero el primer plato me había quitado el ritmo y el sonido constante del microondas, porque para ese entonces algunas personas ya estaban en el restaurante y habían ordenado.

Recientemente organicé para mí y mis colegas para ir a Hamlet para una fiesta de trabajo de Navidad. Queríamos tener una pista de baile después de la cena. Debo decir que los gerentes hicieron un gran trabajo para garantizar que tuviéramos el mejor momento. El lugar era fantástico (muy peculiar), nuestra comida era deliciosa y terminamos con una pista de baile para nosotros en el sótano donde estábamos sentados con un gran DJ. No puedo criticar el servicio, recomendaría encarecidamente este lugar para un trabajo o una reunión familiar. Buena relación calidad-precio y excelente servicio amable!

The Hamlet is always a good bet especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I have yet to have an awful cocktail there - expertly made and delicious. Always a good atmosphere.

I have been going to The Hamlet for a while now. I cannot express the love I have for this place due to their amazing vibe, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food, sexy cocktails, unbeatable prices, friendly staff and of course the best part is the owner Elsa is always attentive to customers needs when she is there and her staff looks after everyone with warm hearts when she isn’t. I highly recommend The Hamlet for food, cocktails and DEFINITELY their beautiful private hire venue and spaces.

I visited The Hamlet on my way to Chelsea football game. We haven’t beet that hungry so we went for sort of tapas and cocktails. Everything was amazing and staff was friendly. One of the best Christmas tree I ever saw in restaurant/gastropub/

I have watched Elsa build up this business over the years. She is an excellent hostess and owner who offers amazing hospitality to all her customers. I hadn't eaten there for a while and was very pleasantly surprised at the high standard of food I went with my partner and friends for Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Service as usual was spot on I love it how it continues to grow and offer more and more for the community it serves. Highly recommended

I've known of this place since it opened. Wish I'd visited in those early days as it seems it's gone steadily downhill. Overpriced for what you get. We both had a starter, which was completely ruined by having two salt pots on the table. By all appearances they looked like salt and pepper, but unfortunately had salt in both.

Alquilar el bar vinilo abajo para celebrar mi 30 cumpleaños fue el lugar perfecto. El ambiente es único, que no creo que estaban en streatham. El personal hizo un trabajo increíble para satisfacer mis necesidades para la fiesta y todos se divirtieron.

Empty very clean thought tables too close together very clean but it did fill up been before I found the food average for the price I would go again but in the late evening. Been before and had a lovely meal found this fine but thought a bit more could have been added served lovely

This bar/pub has a fantastic atmosphere, interesting decor. It's definitely on the higher end of the price range and food is quite pricey, but nether the less its a fab place to go for drinks and would recommend

Spent a lovely relaxed evening in the Hamlet. We had cocktails and food. The atmosphere is chilled amongst the eclectic mix of furniture. Would recommend this place for a drink.

I've been to The Hamlet a few times and have never been disappointed. My favourite thing here is the food platters! They are always so tasty and more than enough to share. They also have a number of nice cocktails. It's a nice relaxed cosy atmosphere perfect for catch ups with friends.My cousin and I recently hired out the vinyl bar area downstairs for an event. Elsa and her staff were friendly, helpful, attentive and considerate. Many of the guests complimented the lovely food and the venue was perfect for approximately 40 guests to sit, eat, and mingle. The Hamlet is now a regular venue for me to pop in when I am local.

Only popped in out of the cold. Cool music, lovely ambiance, fantastic waiter/ service even just for a cappuccino A family are devouring some delicious looking nibbled and my cappuccino is near perfect ..no complaints. Will be back for more.

The drinks here are not the best at all, its been a very long time since Ive been out and had an awful mixed cocktail; luckily enough we had been elsewhere and had amazing drinks prior. The service was awful! The lady taking our drinks had to come back x3 as she forgot our order (she honestly could have just written them down the 2nd time she realised she could not remember). For a different flavour of a cocktail ie: a strawberry daiquiri it cost extra. I was not told this by the lady taking our drinks order so when it came to paying that was a bit of a shock, it wouldn't have been a problem but i personally think it courteous to let a customer know these things. When it came to paying a different incompetent girl was assisting us, first of all could not tell us what the extras items listed on the bill was (one of the being the flavour for my strawberry daiquiri) she went to go and find out and took forever to come back so we had to go and find her. She had brought what im assuming was the manager who let us know what the extra charges where. I wanted to pay by card and he informed me that there is a extra fee to pay by card for totals under a certain amount, which is fine but the girl taking our payment was not aware of this and didnt charge my friend the card fee as my friend paid first as there was no problem with her total. I refused to pay a card fee if someone else was not charged it. Its not my fault staff are not trained properly and if we didnt have a problem with the bill this extra card fee would not have been paid due to staff not knowing, i was not willing to have one policy apply to me and not another. The manager seem unbothered and questioned if i really did not want to pay the extra... its unreal to me that he did not see the problem (although minute its still a situation that a manger should be able to handle a lot better), he then took his time setting up the card machine for me to pay. Me and my friend gathered up our coins to pay the total my change and left.The 'manager' was rude and had zero customer service skills in this instance - it would have been nice for the manager to acknowledge his staffs fault, looked like he cared and been apologetic. I have one positive about this place, the decor was cute.

The place was almost empty when we got there and we were told to sit because someone was coming to attend us. The waiter seemed a bit confused when you were asking him about something unusual and he reverted to ask the one behind the bar.We happened to have some Pound notes that were not from the Bank of England and they didn't accept it telling us it was orders from his manager, whom, obviously wasn't there at the moment.We left there we a feeling of being a place not well attended and with inexperienced and rude staff. Not worth it and also a bit overpriced.

9 of us went on Christmas Day for lunch. The food was devine, especially the garlic prawn starter and the trad. roast main (with crisp vegetables)! By the time the desert came we were "stuffed to bits" as my daughter Scarlett described it. Credit to all the staff who were amazing... friendly and attentive. Made a great day for us!

Been coming here for a few years and always have a nice evening here. Food is good and if you go for the meal of the day you can get a great price! Now its expanded there is a bit more room and it feels really cosy. You can come here by yourself, as a couple or friends. Its a great family run bar/restaurant and they are always friendly and helpful! Recommended.

12 of us went here for our annual Christmas get together. The service was excellent. Neither imposing or distant. Our food was steaming hot, fresh & tasty. The decor is elegant & interesing. We all agreed we had made the right choice of restaurant. Some of our group said that they would be going again in the near future. Thanks to the staff for making it a success.

Delicious food served here; the Sunday lunches were well presented and the lamb was really tasty and succulent. The sharing seafood platter was great, although I was surprised by the tempora courgettes on there.Decent drinks too - my other half really enjoyed her champagne cocktail.There could be a bit more variation in the desserts though.Comfy sofas and seating throughout this pub-cum-bar lounge, and the waitress was friendly.Music was a bit loud at times though.

The ambiance is lovely. The decor is stylish. It is exactly where you would want to go for a local evening out. Why travel all the way into London city, let alone Clapham when Streatham has begun to offer fun dining experiences like The Hamlet?Oh... almost.The cocktails are just too pricey for Streatham. At £9 I am very conscious that I am drinking a treat, and must lick the glass clean and head home with a lighter wallet. If they were £7 or even if they had a few more deals, I would be back fast and often, but at these prices I am happy to travel further afield...

Err I've walked past the Hamlet but decided to go in for a drink and maybe a bite to eat.Stood at the bar for a while before any of the 3 men acknowledged us and then one of them said hi. So we eventually ordered drinks and sat down. We looked at the decor it's quirky with antique looking furnishings and fake plants. We just ordered a few small bites which were ok not worth reviewing as we didn't have a proper meal. The place was quite empty it was a bit weird and the music too loud. Not sure about this place to be honest not sure what it's meant to be or type of clientele it's trying to attract.

What a pleasure to use such a cute and intimate venue to surprise my baby sister, we were treated exceptional and the canapés served were tasty!Having our own personal vinyl bar and DJ booth meant we were able to dance the night away.There were a few areas of concern raised by the management, from what I understand people brought in drinks and gifts for bday girl and were seen drinking their own purchases. Then there was an issue for my sister collecting her presents a few days later, however all went well on the night and everyone has praised the venue and service received. Overall a great place to shake a leg on an intimate level with good canapés and toast drink selection.Would I hire again! Absolutely!!

We were visiting the area and looking for a bar and something to eat. Went in and waitress was polite and said we could just sit anywhere as the place was empty. I asked if I get drinks from the bar and she said yes. My colleague sat close to the bar and started to look at the menu. I stood at the bar alone. There were 3 people behind the bar but nobody acknowledged me. One was busy crushing limes and one was checking his phone. After standing there for what seemed like ages behind my Harry Potter cloak of invisibility, we looked at each other and decided to leave. The waitress asked if we were okay as we started to move towards the door - I simply said that if the barman would rather check his phone than serve I could not be bothered to stay there. There are plenty of other places to eat and drink.

Oh dear oh dear. We walked in to this bar thinking 'why have we waited so long to come...' then we were served our cocktails and wished we'd stay away. The 'champagne' cocktail was the worst I have ever experienced - and there was nothing actually wrong with it other than the little money I can only assume spent on the bottle itself. Then they kindly gave me a replacement prosecco which was unfortunately also the worst I have ever tasted. I'm told by my fiancee the other cocktail tasted like an alcoholic Fruits of the Forest cordial - he stopped drinking as it was giving him heartburn. A pattern clearly emerging - cheap rubbish. The barmaid we had was very polite but the owner seemed like a nuisance, openly having words with her staff and pushing round furniture looking for things to do.The inside of the bar is quirky but seems confused, random plants and dated music adds to the vibe of this place which leaves you feeling nothing but disappointed as you walk out the door. Such a shame as it feels like it could be a fantastic venue.

We decided to go for a drink as this place has just expanded with the Florist next door. We arrived and were seated straight away. We didn't eat just went for some cocktails. I had the French Martini to start which was really nice then I had the Pina Colada which was really delicious. I did notice a couple of guys sat next to us and they were asked if they were eating, when they said they only wanted a drink they moved them to the other side but the same never happened to us. They had plenty of staff working but it sill looked as if they had a few problems with getting order right. Staff are very friendly and the menu did look good as did the food they were bringing out of the kitchen. Nice place with very quirky decor.

Came here for a friends birthday. Ordered Seabass which was very tasty and a lovely bottle of Merlot. We all enjoyed our selected meals. Decided to go downstairs where a DJ was playing in a small room that had a living room feel. Being of Caribbean decent, the Dj decided to play some music for us to enjoy. The owner appeared to dislike his choice of music and the DJ was made to change the music, I was astounded! I would have thought this establishment would cater for all backgrounds. Particularly after the uproar created by the owners of DSTRKT who refused to allow black people into their club. Because of this I will not be going back to this place.

We booked as a last minute reservation on a Saturday night for six people thinking we wouldn't get seated and thankfully the lady at the end of the phone was so accommodating and squeezed us in. After a brief look at the menu online I had an idea of what I wanted to eat. The description of the lamb cooked for four hours was just so tempting with the idea of creamy mash had me sold! We arrived on time and it was quite busy we was happy to sit anywhere to be honest but we was nicely nestled in the corner. We was greeted by the lady who I spoke to on the phone Elsa and she was absolutely lovely so was the rest of the staff. There was so much to choose from that everything was so tempting I went the lamb as it was going around my head for ages. My cousin went for the Mezze Fish platter for two and my husband had the Chicken & Spinach Linguine. All the food came in a timely manner... Lovely and hot! We was so full that we didn't have any room for dessert.Our food was amazing and delicious that we was already planning our next trip back. All in all our experience as first timers at The Hamlet Streatham was perfect.

I visited this place two days ago with my friends people told me is nice so we pass by then we went there but ,when we walk in u see a lovely smiles great welcome but after words when we order out food and the people pushing u to buy a drinks that is unbelievable I never been in souch a place and people pushing u and pushing u in my opinion and my friends we dident like that staff seems to be friendly but I thinks has been push to much from the owners they look like they won't to get and get something we went there to enjoy but we been having horrible time we just pretend,we are ok my salad it horrible and the lamb shank it taste like is from the bag the sauce the lamb to be nice need to be cook in wine and herbs,my friend had sea bass to dry overcooked no flavour at all the desserts oh my good frozen and look horrible we dident eat my another friend had a steak and it was really chyju and again overcooked she ask for rare and it come medium to well done we spent around 150 pound but we will never ever go back in this place really is a joke people don't waste u money in food from containers and frozen when u pay 16 pound for a lamb shank u need to enjoy and not a dry horrible taste sorry never ever again don't waste u money we are travelling a lot and this is second place which has let us down again do not recommend to any one this place never ,,,,,,,,,

The service was average and the food good but expensive for what we received. Staff tried to make us buy drinks from our table and not from the bar, so they could add on the extra 12% service charge. Not a lot I know but when a round was over £50.00 ago and we brought about 5 rounds works out to be a lot, on top of paying £250..00 for out food where the service charge was added on. The D.J on the night was awful the worse D.J I have ever heard playing he played the same old song over and over and over. Even when we asked for songs he ignored our request basically told us to go away. Would I go back no I don't think so.

After living in Streatham the Hamlet is a great place to go to for a glass of wine or cocktail.The inside is nice and the occasional live music is a welcome plus.That said the food and drinks are expensive . The kitchen doesn't deliver food to the standard expected of prices charged. Having sampled a lot of the menu here the platters are recommended as the best food alongside value for money.

A friend of mine held her birthday here (she hire out the downstairs which was nice) but the service was terrible. The price for bottles of beer were excessive (£4/£5 a bottle!!) so me and my friend decided to go upstairs to get pints. After one we were told all 3 beers were finished (but were back on a minute later?!?) The bar staff then tried to offer me a half Heineken and half Asahi in one pint glass for full price (I was confused) so turned it down. They do cocktails on but never tried one (after the beer incident I decided to go Prosecco) It was a nice place, good location but the drinks were a bit disappointing

My friend and I visited the hamlet for a quick drink recently and found a warm cozy bar/restaurant that happened to have an amazing live pianist/singer performing whilst we were there. A very memorable night accompanied with a lovely chillean red wine and good service.

Quirky little place with cool interior. Menu pretty average as is food. Bill was over £100 which was made up mostly of drink to be fair but for a local place in streatham I just found it a tad expensive.

The bar is eye catching, with artwork made from vinyl all around, vintage seating (yet still comfy) and a very, very warm welcome from the staff. We were shown to our seats, given cocktail menus and a big smile. Background music was slightly too loud but very fitting for the environment. The cocktails were great, really tasty and properly made. Their top shelf selection is good too, some nice spirits to try on their extensive menu.We didn't try the food but the menu did look rather good.The only down side, it was over £40 for 4 drinks. However, you got what you paid for. Fantastic service, cool bar, really well made drinks, table service, some good music. You pay for a great experience

I was lucky to stumble across this little beauty, fantastic food, great music and above all excellent staff. Never kept waiting food is always delicious and staff are always attentive. The deco adds to the character and makes the whole experience wonderful. It's now become one of my families staple restaurant.

I've always had wonderful food and excellent service here (it's a treat restaurant, excellent for birthday or anniversary) and so when we had visitors to Streatham I didn't hesitate before bringing them here. I was utterly shocked at the poor quality of the service. From the waitress who ignored us, sighed when she *had* to serve us and - after having an appalling experience and refusing to pay service charge - being shrugged at, rather than asking what went wrong the whole process left me feeling like I'd massively imposed on the restaurant by my very presence.The food was pretty much up to the usual high quality standard, but I was very surprised with the cheese board. Having asked if it was enough for two people, we were informed that it would be more than enough. Three tiny bits of cheese came our way, with a small mountain of fruit. If you love fruit - go for it! It was lovely (although I'm sure it was overpriced) but if you're a cheese fan, look elsewhere. A waiter came over and asked if we enjoyed it. I politely said that we could have done with a bit more cheese, at which point the waiter got argumentative and grabbed the board walking off muttering to himself. A really poor introduction to Streatham for my friend and so disappointed to see one of my favourite south London restaurants go down hill so fast.

Has a lovely atmosphere in this place. Area downstairs which can be used for larger parties. Food is good and average price. Does cocktails and Sunday brunch.

Although I.ve lived for almost 5 years in the proximity of this place, I.ve only just had my first ever visit last Sat night with a friend hoping to have an unforgetable experience.We.ve only had starters and one mojito each at an expense which could be clearly visible on my bank statement next day....lol.Food was great although small in portion and cocktails were delicious.I.m hoping my next visit will not be as far away as my first visit.

I've taken lots of different friends to The Hamlet and they've all enjoyed it - there's something for everyone.The food is reasonably priced and tasty and there's a good variety of drinks.The staff are lovely too!

Four of us went here on a Friday night for food and as the place was busy we were sat downstairs which is lacking in atmosphere and decor when compared to upstairs.The service is average at best, with one of the waiting staff struggling to take our order although she was nice enough and polite. However they add 12.5% service charge so you expect slightly more than this, top places in the city don't charge this.The food is very expensive for what and where it is, and the bill for 4 was much higher than we expected and we went into central London the following night and ate far superior food for almost the same price.The steak was very good and the burgers were OK but again all quite expensive.Would not be back in a hurry, although if you are happy to pay their prices then I guess it is OK.

Staff are on the ball but not all that friendly, décor is nice and theres quite abit of space with a late liscence and downstairs area with a dj at the weekends.

We went here for a quick drink while we waited for a table at a nearby restaurant. Never been in before and always walked past thinking it looked nice. Had cocktails and they were very pleasant. Took a comfy sofa with service, staff very friendly and will definitely go back again for more than a quick in & out!

This is the only place open after the pubs shut so they take full advantage. Its expensive, crowded and the bar staff aren't particularly accommodating or polite. Every time I have been I have had an item of clothing stolen, the last time being a £100 leather jacket.

It's different offers theme nights like Steak Mondays, make great hot chocolate, eaten breakfast and Sunday lunch there reasonably priced.

I live locally to this place so i'm keen to support my local pubs. This place has a nice interior and when i have been the staff have always been helpful if a little disorganised. That said, i do think the drink and food is over priced here. They have a cocktail menu, where a lot of the drinks up upwards of £10. I know this is a fairly standard price in London, but you are in Streatham, not the West End and whilst they are good, they are 'pub cocktails'. The same can be said for the food, its fine but each dish is about £4-5 too much for what it is. Given the variety of choice for eating options on offer in Streatham, i wouldn't recommend people to go here, but its definitely worth popping into for a drink or two.

I went to Hamlet to have breakfast with my daughter, it was really nice. The food is great and my 4 year old was ready to compliment the chef although she was a bit shy:) I had a omelet and she had a american pancakes with chocolate sauce. I returned on the same day with my husband and daughter for a Birthday treat dinner, the food was Fantastic and delicious. the service was really friendly with attention to details...well done we will be back.J&P&L

i had booked a table as i know it gets busy on a friday night. Upon arrival we were shown to a table despite not even asking for the name on the booking. upon seating i spied a much nicer table & asked to be moved, we were told it was reserved, i pointed out i had reserved as well. Then i noticed it was in fact the table I had reserved. asked to be moved and the manager came & apologised. The evening from there on in was brilliant, attentive staff and the lady who took my booking came and said good evening. Spent far too much money on champagne cocktails but well worth it .. i love the hamlet

We went to the Hamlet on Saturday night for dinner and a party afterwards. As others have said it is very nice on the eye, quirky and interestingly decorated, creating a lovely warm ambiance. It was two people's birthday and so we had a collective of 32 for dinner with others coming for drinks post eating. Although we were a tiny bit cramped for eating downstairs (not too bad) we had a fabulous time. I would like to say thank you to Elsa and her staff for working so hard to make our event run as smooth as possible. Every single person enjoyed their meal and then the tables were moved away to make way for the DJ and dancing which was great fun. We left at the end which was about 2.30ish. We spent a lot of money but we drank a lot of alcohol so was to be expected. All in all a great evening was had by all and we will be back! Sharon

The Hamlet is a lovely little spot, and certainly one of the nicest places to head for dinner in Streatham. It's quite cute and mismatched, with fairly extensive (if a little relatively bland) cocktail choices.I had sea bass which was delicious, and cheesecake which wasn't great (not nearly enough biscuit or... Flavour). Definitely a good spot for quiet dinner and drinks. Always seems a lot busier on weekends but we went midweek- there was still a rather nice ambience.

Firstly this venue is great. It is cute, different, good value drinks and food. Perfect for a couple night out. The kitchen and floor staff coped very well with the large party we were with. We hired the private room after much searching for a venue. All good confirmed on the phone and in person by two of us, no min spend just as long as we got food and the whole room. Unfortunately this five star review dropped to a three as soon as they let strangers into the private room, we weren't happy but they refused to move them as now the room had a min spend of 1400 and apparently this had all been agreed. I urge you if you are booking the private room to get a contract with the venue. The manager Elsa was contradicting herself when we complained left, right and centre, however like us she has also been drinking and it was a game of she said etc. If you get a contract agreeing terms go ahead and book, if not I wouldn't risk it. One guy was going to book for his 30th but changed his mind after all the hassle.

Never went there for weekend partying, so can't comment about overcrowding, but we love to choose Hamlet for late breakfasts as I really like quirky interior and service.

I went a while back with work colleagues. Place Is very dark inside with tables very close to each other. Great range of drinks, service okay. Felt very stuffy inside, not sure I would go back.

Stumbled across this place while trying to kill a 2 hours wait. It was the decor that lured us in: a few nice tables in front, a nice and hidden back garden also with a few tables and the very nice adorned interior. The food was good and so was the service, we will definetly come back.

Despite being forced to move table within 10 minutes, despite the over-priced food and wine, despite being chased by a waiter and accused of not paying, despite the owner blaming the waitress, despite the ineptitude of all concerned, despite the hollow apologies, I would only recommend this place to someone I really hated.

Went to the Hamlet with friends to celebrate our anniversary. We started and finished our evening with excellent cocktails. The staff were great, especially when the heard it was our anniversary. Great atmosphere and the food was good. We all enjoyed our meals. The chorizo starter was the highlight for me. Good local bar for food or just drinks.

I have frequented The Hamlet on numerous locations since it opened and I have always enjoyed myself. The bar itself is fantastically decked out. Plenty of wood beams, greenery and comfortable sofas make it feel like a lounge rather than a bar.The staff are friendly and attentive - you never have to wait long for service. Our recent trip was not up to usual standard as we had to vacate our table after an hour to move somewhere else in the bar (which was not too much of a hassle) but the staff were ever so apologetic.The food is good, but not great. But the reason I come back time and again are the cocktails. I have taken many friends here - none have been disappointed. There is a huge range on the menu for you to enjoy. My partner asked for his Dirty Martini to be 'filthy' and when it was not dirty enough they gladly changed it for him. My recommendation is the cucumber and chili martini - delicate, tasty and deceptively strong!We have never had trouble getting a table. The venue is busy without ever seeming crowded. One of the better venues in Streatham!

Been in a couple of times for drinks and once for lunch. The food was OK, well cooked and quite tasty but nothing particularly special. Nice for a couple of drinks with friends but probably wouldn't spend more than an hour or so in here...

The room itself is quite nice and the service was good. The food and drink was appalling. The menu comprised deep fried Brie and lamb shank among other pub grub classics. I always order a montepulciano as a 'safe' red wine, the bottle was kept somewhere so warm it was virtually up drinkable. My meatball starter was clumps of mince with a tin of value chopped tomatoes over it and my prawn and chilli linguine used the rest of the chopped tomatoes tin, and managed to overcook the prawns so badly they could have your eye out. Truly one of the worst meals I have had ever. Awful.

Been here a few times with hubby and grown up kids and must say they serve the best champagne cocktail ive ever had. Eaten here for lunch a few times and think the food either needs to be better portions or lower prices. at least meet in the middle .. Its a great little bar... quirky and fanastic staff . ( nice to see the owner working in the bar )Lovely to have a tab system that you pay before you leave, its nice to be treated like an adult However check the prices because it can seem the bill is slightly higher when it comes to paying. IF im paying id question it but certainly wont stop me going back as i always check reciepts before i pay regardless of where i go lol It can get very busy here in the evenings as its open until early hours our table for 2 was taken over by a larger group who pushed up right next to us and made us want to leave ..

Ate here with my partner and had a very pleasant experience from start to finish good service, good quality food all within an ambient environment.

As I was the one who recommended to dine here, I was hugely let down. Been in a few times for a drink in past and didn't have any issues.Booked a table earlier in day, arrived on time to be given a table uncomfortably close to the two tables it was in between. When I asked the Manager for a different table, she explained it was because I had only booked for today so this was what I'd get. We waited at bar for another table, this time right next to the waiters station. Through out the evening we watched the manager sitting alone at a table of six, drinking champagne. This could have been given to those standing at the bar, or for dining guest who would like more space. As it got progressively more busy, the manager got up and was decided to have a fight with the barman, right next to our table.I asked two different waiters for a liquor list and both didn't know what it was. Food was ok but ruined by the chaotic atmosphere!!

Grumpy service followed by uncooked sausages in the full english. I sent the sausages back to be heated up and then they brought it back missing some of the food... very bizarre. No apology either. Definitely won't be returning and very glad I didn't shell out for dinner.

As we're fairly new to Streatham, we have spent the last couple of months frequenting various bars up and down the (long) high road in the hope of finding somewhere decent to chill out. I've passed this bar a few times but it was my girlfriend who was keen to go in for a drink (she fell in love with the decor after popping her head in!). What initially stood out for me is that we were politely welcomed near enough the front entrance which was different (for Streatham!). We were attentively served throughout the course of the evening and although we intended to move on after a couple of drinks, we ended up staying until after midnight. I have to say the waitress was really friendly and our cocktails were spot on and we even managed to sample a few before ordering. It felt like I was in a bar uptown without the hassle of trying to get home by train after hours. I would recommend this place for the service and certainly the atmosphere and music. If you're looking for somewhere different in Streatham, this is definitely the place to be. We've also been to one of their quiz nights in which we came 2nd!. As I use Tripadvisor to search for good places, I thought it only fair I add my little piece to it.

Having walked by many times, I was drawn to this pub by the comfortable and charming decor and the clientele who were apparently having a good time. The clientele were on the youngish side and the atmosphere quite buzzy. My friend and I had a mixture of aperitifs, wine and cocktails along with a selection of tapas.The drinks were fine but uninspired and the food distinctly average. While nothing was terrible, it left me and my companion slightly disappointed and disinclined to return in near future. The servers were attentive and charming which just highlighted the weaknesses in the food and drink.

Good atmosphere, friendly staff and some great events (steak night, pub quiz, movie night, jazz pianist etc) make this a great little bar to visit. The dancefloor downstairs also means you can stay late at the weekend too. This is a local favourite of mine.

The Hamlet has many great assets; good food, wine, decor, atmosphere and attentive staff, but watch out for the service charge added on to the bill.We were charged about £3 service charge on top of a £20 bill for a bottle of wine that was ordered at the bar then brought to our table. This felt a little unfair, however they were happy to remove it when we paid.

We have had food and drink in here on a number of occasions. The service is always very high, doors opened for you, table service for drinks - although you can go to the bar, recommendations on food or drink if you ask. The food always tastes fresh and has lovely flavor, and the menu changes regularly. There is a nice range of cocktails and spirits and they have non-standard lagers on tap.This is not the place to go if you are a Carlsberg and pork scratchings person, but if you like a classy place with high standards and are happy to pay the price for it, it come highly recommended.Have been here as a couple for a nice candle lit dinner, a private party with a large group of friends and for drinks after work - every time, great.

Popped in here on my own last night as I was staying in the area on business.The atmosphere is slightly young / trendy, with an eclectic music mix from soft electro to swing. Personally, I liked it.The decor is dark and intimate, with squashy sofas around the edge and dining tables covering the rest of the small area.I ordered steak, which was served in perfectly respectable time by a friendly waitress. My steak was cooked beautifully, the chips were hand cut, but the salad was so bog standard it was boring, just using iceberg, tomatoes and cucumber. I'd have liked something a little more interesting.The bit that I found most interesting was that the owners (all young Polish or Eastern European of some sort) seemed out of place here. One was walking around in shorts and headphones hanging around his neck. Now thats no criticism at all, believe me, but it did detract slightly from the cosy, professional image of the venue at that time. Maybe they'd got confused and thought it was Friday, when they open til 3am!In any case, I don't have any complaints. Not trying to be intentionally ageist, but If you're over 60, probably avoid. If you're between 30 and 50 then this may well be a hit for you.
