Absolutely fabulous place ran by an ex squaddy where a reunion was held. Food lovely, real ales in stock. Great staff. Fab owner. Apparently no longer there

Went here for lunch today. Fabulous Sunday roast, everything delicious. Will definitely repeat this experience. Staff very pleasant.

First time customer- last minute booking on Easter Sunday. Served by two lovely young lads. Sunday roast was one of the best I've had, compliments to the Chef. Nice quiet pub - highly recommend for family/couple wanting a nice meal with great service.

Bit disappointed today. First I do think they forgot our order. We sat down at 12.10 had our orders in at 12.15. My hub asked for our food at 12.55 to be told they were just plating it up. We had seen others leave who came in after us for food. We finally got our food at 13.15. We only had the table until 2pm No Yorkshire puds on the Sunday lunches even though we said we would pay more to be told there wasn’t any? People on the next table got yorky puds after us. Must admit that’s the bit you enjoy the most and felt let down. We asked for strawberry cheesecake and received biscotti wasn’t really a problem because it was nice. If someone had come out and said we are sorry we forgot your order and had nipped to the shop 200yds away for yorky puds then I wouldn’t have been bothered. Just felt a little let down by coslea they just didn’t quite do it and especially with no apology. £130 later we left and it’s really put us off coming back you can’t even say you were rushed because it wasn’t at all we was there at 12.10!!!. Sorry Hamers we will be back for a drink but not the food.

Went on January the 5th, staff very friendly as usuall, there was 3 adults and 2 children and only 1 of the children enjoyed there meal, the fish wasn't that good, it had a strange taste, it didn't taste like cod, and the salt and pepper chicken was on the soggy side, the food as always been good in the past, I think we will only go on Sunday as we always enjoy Sunday dinner.

Came here for food with family after hearing great things about the food and the pub its self. Was nice to see a pub that allows in dogs. There was a good variety of food on the menu and definitely catered for all food types. The pie was amazing and had so much filling was the best pie I’ve had in a long time. Came here today for the night with Noel and it was amazing. We had the salt and pepper pigs and blanket and the bbq pork ribs and they were incredible. I knew when I saw it was a night with Noel I knew it would be amazing will definitely be back. Staff were really helpful and atmosphere was great. Will be back soon.

stopped off for some lunch with a friend she had meat and potato pie and i had the chicken in pepper sauce and we really enjoyed. The staff was lovely the place as a warm feeling defo recommend.

Turkey Sunday dinner - huge portion, very tasty - would recommend. Cheese and onion pie - brilliant - definitely recommend. Fish and chips - good, would choose something different next time. Friendly staff, clean environment, reasonably priced. We will go here again :)

We had another lovely evening at the Hamer’s Arms. The staff are consistently friendly and attentive. Good Pinot Grigio and went for the cheese and onion pie again - definitely one of the best I’ve had. You really feel you are getting proper homemade pub grub here. Booked a table at The Hamers Summerseat with 10 friends, paid the deposit Christmas Eve for Boxing Day, one hour before we should have sat down for the meal we received a phone call to say the set menu had been cancelled and we can only choose from the normal menu which was more expensive. Due to everyone already on there way we all still went. We choose from the set menu but everything wasn’t available and when we did receive our meals they were very poor. Not one for moaning but we all felt we were let down at the last minute, not good at all The Hamers, Summerseat!!! Would have rated zero if it was possible, sorry!!!

We have always been made to feel welcome by all at the hamers we were even offered free herbs from the garden , as for the dog table we think that's great as we also have dogs it's a very dog friendly clean and welcoming atmosphere would most definitely recommend to family and friends.

I wish I could rate a zero! On every visit we have had to The Hamers we have been met with hostility from the landlord. He is very rude and confrontational and even told us to ‘go home’ when we queried that an item wasn’t on the menu like it had been two days previously. We have actually been asked to move, so the landlords dog can sit on the bench! The pub itself is dark, dingy and has never had any atmosphere - it never appears to be clean - the tables are often left sticky. With several good quality pubs in the vicinity, it’s unbelievable that they would act this way - save your time and your money and go elsewhere; we surely will never be returning.

This pub claims on its signboard to do food all day. It does not. We are sitting inside it now at 13:40 on a Saturday and that’s crisps or nuts - that’s it. Admittedly they have nice Theakston’s Best Bitter but that’s no consolation for my 83-year-old mum who struggled up from the railway station up the steep hill for something to eat. Nice view from up here, the weather’s great but no food spoiled it entirely.

Where do I start?The Hamers was very dull, dank and most certainly didn't appear warm and welcoming. The guy behind the bar kept looking across at us strangely...didn't even say hello...didn't even a smile.The whole place felt dirty and it smelled. Touching the door handles was a nightmare as they were horrible and sticky and on the way to the toilet I was met with a cloud of cigarette smoke from the open door where all the smokers congregated.We ordered our food and it took an hour to arrive. When it finally arrived it wasn't even hot...lukewarm at best and was brought to our table by a female that didn't even smile or speak to us...I had the chicken roast dinner but I left most of it. The chicken was so tough, the roast potatoes were from frozen and the Yorkshire pudding was from frozen. My husband had the fish and chips which was awfully salty as the chips had been covered in some kind of chip seasoning...and they definitely need to change the oil.Worst country pub I have ever visited!

We decided to try the Hamers having read reviews and learning of the management change recently. There are 2 menus, one with traditional dishes such as Fish & Chips etc, the other Spanish Tapas. We decided to get a few dishes from the tapas menu. What a great choice, we loved all of the dishes. As it was a Saturday evening there was some live entertainment on which provided a fun atmosphere. In all we had a most enjoyable evening and will definitely be going back.

Visited for the first time with friends on Tuesday night, had high expectations based on friends recommendations but was blown away built the quality and the pricing of the food. The head chef went out of his was to accommodate the vegetarian in the group, everyone commented on how great the pub was. Looking forward to coming back.

Eaten here several times now and basically worked our way thru the menu—both the tapas and tried loads of the changing main meals. Not ordered anything that we wouldn’t order again. Fresh, imaganitive and brilliantly cooked. Well done Noel. We will be back.

Visited with family for the first time since under new management. We were made welcome by Barry and Andrea then whilst waiting for our food the chef Noel came out to chat with us and offer us some delicious cheesy bread while we waited. We ordered fish and chips which was lovely but the show was stolen by the lamb Henry. The lamb fell off the bone,the gravy was really tasty and the accompanying sides were amazing...would definitely recommend...and at £25 for two lamb dinners of that quality....a bargain.

Really great time. The food was really good, with a variety of Tapas , or burgers , fish and chips etc. We had fish and chips , lamb Henry . Everything was beautiful with a great selection of vegetables. The staff were extremely helpful. Definitely be back here again.

My daughter and I went out for lunch on a Friday afternoon, our initial choice was very crowded so decided we'd pop into the Hamers Arms on recommendation from a friend. It was my first visit, we received a warm welcome into an almost empty room however it had a comfortable feel to it. We were looking for a snack initially but then we noticed the 'specials' board and decided an early dinner was appropriate. My daughter had a sea food curry and I had a tagliatelli with mussels. However, I chose to replace the mussels with sea bass and waited for our meals. The curry (with safron rice and ciabatta slices) arrived first along with a wonderful aroma, my daughter wasted no time in tucking into it. My dish arrived straight after and was visually appealing. However, that was nothing in comparison to the quality of the meal, it was absolutely mouth watering, so light but also very filling. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, the large prawns were 'meaty' and so tasty - it had the most delicious light sauce accompanying it creating a first rate meal.

A favourite stop off mid way round any of our local Bury walks this hidden gem offers a life saving lunch!
