Started off with an incredible scotch egg, and of course had to try their mushroom and celeriac pie. So delicious. I tried their prawns too which was a great portion size. Finished off with the toffee and date pudding. Cant fault this place at all. The food, atmosphere, service and location are top notch.

Went for a group meal with work colleagues. Food was exceptional (had rarebit starter and celeriac and mushroom pie for main) and service was prompt and can't be faulted. If I am ever back in the area I will most certainly return.

Very disappointed. As locals and regulars to the Halfway we have found standards have slipped over the past year judging by our Saturday experience. It’s the little details, a card on the table with out-of-date activities, staff smoking at the entrance, overcooked fish and chips (thick rock hard batter that you’ll need a hacksaw to cut through) and it’s become expensive… £22.5 for sausages or £24 for the chalk salmon (£22 at the H&G). Have been big fans of Liam and Nathan but they have taken their eye off the ball.

A fabulous reputation and the food lived up to expectations but the service and space left a lot to be desired. No accessible toilets and lots of small steps and uneven surfaces. Tables too close together so no privacy and service was slow though good. We wouldn’t go again as my wife struggled to move around.

Stopped for dinner and was so glad we did! Absolutely fantastic food! Great menu and delicious food, best food we have eaten since arriving in the Cotswolds a few days ago. Very welcoming and the service was faultless. Will hopefully get to visit again before the end of our holiday. I really need to have the Black treacle & date pudding again!

The Halfway is in a beautiful setting and the food is fantastic. We visited a second time this afternoon for my Dad's birthday, but unfortunately our visit was marred by a bizarre interaction with the co-owner. During our meal, a couple with a very disruptive dog entered the dining room, and it was quite clear from the looks on the faces of other diners that we were not the only party perturbed by this. We asked two members of waiting staff on separate occasions if they would speak discreetly to the couple with the dog, but these requests were ignored. Evidentially the dog owners were established regulars, for their complete lack of respect for other diners was not challenged by staff who seemed apprehensive to engage with them. Nathan, the co-owner, then approached our table and adopted an extremely confrontational stance, leaning over my Mum to assert his authority in some respect. When we mentioned the fact that we felt compelled to leave a bad review due to being ignored repeatedly, he asked us to leave, rather than engaging in any sort of reasonable discussion to solve the matter when prompted. To say we were shocked would be an understatement. Two simple requests to challenge the negligent owners of a particularly noisy and untrained pet were not met, and instead we were asked to leave in the middle of a full dining room. I invite the venue to apologise for such an embarrassing situation for diners who were trying to enjoy a Sunday lunch. We even jibed to the table next to us, who laughed and nodded in agreement, that if you offer a simple complaint, you get a free meal.

Had a fabulous meal here. Firstly the beer was super clean and fresh. Guiness and Golden Ale were perfect. We had one allergy in the family group and it was catered for without question and zero stress. All the starters not only looked beautiful but were clearly prepared with care and through. Taramasalata was smooth and not overpowering. Breads were incredible. Don’t know if they were made in house but they tasted like it. Wild mushrooms on toast and Asparagus and Buratta too were fresh and really well seasoned. Fish and chips were clearly made in really clean and fresh oil. Batter perfect. My Pork Chop held so much flavour and was seasoned to perfection. Great produce! Would absolutely return. And can’t forget the FOH team. Super helpful. All smiles. And made the visit. We were with a little one and she was looked after like an adult even during a busy service. No wonder The Halfway is always busy. What a gem.

This is a gorgeous little pub, really capturing the essence of the Cotswolds. Went in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quiet but a pleasant atmosphere. Roaring fire, a number of excellent ales on tap and a fantastic menu. I ordered fillet steak and I ordered it blue (I’m fussy about my steak cooking) and it was perfect, the quality was excellent and cooked to perfection. Service was brilliant and they were welcoming to our two young children as well. A brilliant find and highly recommended.

Would not eat here again. We had an 8:30PM dinner reservation, and we were running 15 minutes late. We tried calling the restaurant 2 times to let them know and ask if it was ok to still come or if it was too late, but no one answered the phone. When we got there, the team working there that night were not friendly. We were told you must rush to get your order in, in a very rude manner, then when we had 2 questions on dishes, the waitress did not give us an answer - she just wanted us to order and did not answer on questions. Her rudeness and the lack of checking back by her and the rest of the team working there made it a bad experience. And the food was really good. We felt bad being late, and tried out best, and so we do not appreciate the restaurant treating us so rudely. As good as the food was, I would never go back here and not recommend it to anyone else - not worth the drive or time.

Amazing Sunday roast here - probably one of the best roasts we have ever had at a pub. Attention to detail to every item on the plate which is rare! The cauliflower cheese was also cheesey and not bland and watery which we seem to find in so many pubs! Also very dog friendly! Honestly a must visit if in the area!

Food & service was good but overall the pub was cramped with small tables and you couldn't here yourself talk. Incredibly loud pub. And the decor could do with a refresh with paint peeling of the walls,a little bit run down considering it had a good right up.

We stayed very nearby for two weeks and used the Halfway a fair bit. Amazing food and friendly efficient staff. From venison to fish, every dish was beautifully cooked and the black treacle date pudding was fantastic! I recommend booking as it is ,quite rightly, very popular. The halfway is not the cheapest place nor the most expensive but for the sheer quality it is easily the best in the local area.

The food was exceptional. We came here as it was listed in the Good Food Guide, and I must say that it didn't disappoint. Located in a beautiful tiny street in the Cotswolds, very near to other lovely places, makes it a great stop for a day off exploring the area, or just worth the visit for what could be the best pie in the country. On a sunny day, you can also enjoy the back garden picnic tables.

The only negative was that if you sit outside you have to come in and pay as you go. They explained that people had been doing runners, which is such a shame. Hopefully they can get a card pre-authorisation system in place soon.
