Excellent apart from one dish, toad in the hole. The sausage was undercooked and the pudding overcooked. As a cook, you need to cook the sausage first before putting it in the pastry to cook. Apart from that the other ten courses were Excellent.

Very long wait for our starter (over an hour) and then again for main course. Prawns distinctly underwhelming for an £11 starter and first time we’ve paid £10 for a glass of (house) wine outside of London. However atmosphere with fire and candles lovely although the fire was completely out by 8 pm. Also the lady in charge very friendly and welcoming. When we received our bill (over £112), 12.5% had been added to the bill for service which we should have asked to be removed but didn’t but would have been a good gesture on their part to have omitted it as they knew that we had received poor service.

If you ever have visitors from abroad, and they ask to be taken to a proper English pub, then The Fox is the sort of place you should take them. Situated in a pleasant Cotswold village, the pub is well suited for modern requirements whilst retaining a traditional ambience. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. And the food! The food we had was produced by a chef of the highest calibre, from a menu full of interest. You should visit this pub, and if the Venison Carpaccio or Pickled Mackerel are still on the menu, order them and thank me.

Just staying in Stow on the wold for a few days. We went for a walk to see the wells down monarch way and ended up in the village of Broadwell about a mile and a qtr away. In this pretty little village is the wonderful Fox inn. We had a quick afternoon pint and noticed on the menu that on a Thursday it’s chicken night! Basically a whole roast chicken and chips with all the trimmings for £30. ( for 2 to 3 people) Amazing. And what lovely staff. A great country pub which is a must visit if you are staying local👍

An initial good impression with friendly service in a lovely pub, but the dish of the day - roast chicken - was very slow in coming with no update from the server, we had to chase. The chicken was greasy, not crispy, with OK chips and salad. Disappointing after a good start - excellent beer, good dessert, non alc gin was poor for the money. I will try again in the hope for something a bit better

28/07/2024 - My partner & I were out today & happened to be in the area looking for a pub lunch. Found this place on google & went on the off chance that they might still be serving food as most other places seemed to be closed at the time we came. We arrived just as the kitchen was closing for their breaks but the staff were incredibly accommodating & still made us lunch. Super friendly host & wonderful lady behind the bar who couldn't have been better if she'd tried, even offering to help move stuff around to fit our stroller by the table for our daughter. Small village pub atmosphere, everybody we saw were very warm & polite with each other. We both got the fish & chips & it was arguably the best fish I've ever had. It was enormous, the photo really doesn't do it justice. The only criticism would be the fries, I think homestyle chips would work a lot better but the fish was more than satisfying. Fantastic price, fantastic portion size. Overall the Fox Inn is a great place to eat & if we're ever in the area we'll definitely visit again. Highly recommend.

We booked a Sunday evening dinner with friends and walked from Stow, which was an easy downhill stroll. The food was excellent and service great. When it was time to leave, one of the group with a recent double hip replacement needed a taxi, despite several attempts locally and multiple cancelled Ubers (don't get me started). We asked the staff if they knew anyone local, but being a Sunday, there were none. After splitting the group to fetch a car, one of the pub team kindly offered us a lift to Stow. This young man literally saved the day, and I am eternally grateful, a credit to the pub.. Thanks again for great food and kindness.

What a wonderful English pub for a relaxing afternoon after attempting to locate the last battle of 1646 nearby. We enjoyed a couple of the local lagers & ales along with the local Kingston Dairy cheeses. The "Today's Pie" of chicken & leeks was extra special & delicious. We didn't finish the pie until we offered a taste to the table then it disappeared. Everyone enjoyed it! Thanks for a afternoon and dinner.

Circumstances dictate I sometimes eat alone, the table serving team at The Fox, predominately female, covering all ages, make this a very pleasurable experience - they are cheerful, hardworking, sensitive, and genuinely kind. I love my food , eating out, without feeling in the way, how they make this possible. The food, even from a Cotswold London centric perspective, is well above average, the service staff, though, unvarnish that London tarnish , so pleased they do - earthy, real, and genuinely local stock - thank you!

A absolute gem of a pub nestled away in the beautiful village. All the staff although young were excellent and the waitress that served us explained that she was new so apologised in advance but she was amazing. Only negative (if you could call it that) was no scotch eggs! I’ve been hunting high and low for a pub that does fresh runny scotch eggs so was super excited to order only to be told they had sold out! Maybe a genius marketing ploy as we will be returning so I can have one.

A vast improvement on the previous management. Now a cosy welcoming pub in a beautiful Cotswolds village. We went trot the Sunday fondue which was disappointing (thus the slower score) - not thoroughly mixed and not hot enough. The bread was more like oversized crumbs and the portions of accompaniments seemed hugely out of sync. I’d suggest sticking to the a la carte menu, which if like the fayre in the other restaurants, will be in keeping with what one expects at a gastropub Great service though. Charlie was fab

Came for a family birthday expecting good things. Warm greeting and a great menu. Unfortunately after a long wait we enquired after our starters and were told “the chefs say they only got the order 13 minutes ago”; in other words, the chefs say f-off. This would have been annoying even if it were true, although we’d actually been waiting 40 minutes and the table next to us had had a starter and main during that time. I just really didn’t appreciate that at all. Plus point: service was taken off the bill without our asking; the food was fine. Won’t be coming back.

When we arrived we ordered our drinks after 20mins one of our party had to go to the bar to be told they had forgotten us. After another 10 mins, they finally came and took our food order. That was 30 mins from when we arrived to place our orders. When my fish and chips came, the batter was rock hard, probably been cooked once, and then reheated. Portions were mediocre, to say the least, and finally, the surcharge was automatically added. There was nothing on the menu to suggest this would be the case. The good news is they wavered the 12%. It still didn't make it a pleasant experience, and it certainly wasn't VFM.

Liver and bacon was great. It's expensive as you would expect now it's a gastro pub vs local. Goes I to competition with all the local we want you to eat not just have a pint pubs like Ebrington, Horse and Groom, even the Butchers in Stow for food. I'm not sure the area needs another but here it is..

I came here on a Saturday afternoon after seeing the positive reviews on Google so planned a dog walk beginning at the pub walking to Donnington and back. I really enjoyed the whole experience at The Fox Inn. It's a cosy place and was full of people when I arrived (it's clearly popular which isn't surprising). The staff were lovely and very attentive. I went for the roasted cauliflower main which was absolutely delicious; the flavours were amazing. My only comment would be that a steak knife would be more appropriate for that bad boy but I was happy to hack away at it. I liked that I also got a cheeky bit of bread with oil before it came - always appreciated. When I ordered the bill, the service charge was added automatically but I was happy to pay it. It would be good to see them offering a pale ale or IPA on tap and perhaps a lunch menu with sandwiches/bar snacks - that sort of thing. All in all, I'd be keen to return. It was a great find!

Having already visited the sister pub The Bell @ Langford, I was fascinated to see if the same standards could be upheld, in short Yes they were. The Fox sits on the edge of what appears to be a Village Green, in the very pretty village of Broadwell, plenty of parking in and around the pub, and a pub it is ! Dogs welcome and I am glad to report that the interior has not been ‘Neptuned’ or ‘Daylesforded’ with the usual lashings of Farrow and Ball paint and the footballers wives objet d’art and trinkets To the trained eye it is a proper pub in terms of its visual appearance as you walk through the door, and guess what ! Candles lit on the tables and specific tables set aside for drinkers only, fire lit, and staff buzzing around the tables with a sense of purpose and enjoyment Great selection of food, you can spend as much or as little as you like, there is even a set two course offering for £14 I wish other pubs were run like this, common sense, emotional intelligence and good simple food, plus a group of people who care and understand ambiance Pubs like these will never go out of business, because the people who own and run them ‘Understand’ On the way out have a splash in the Ford

In my opinion it is somewhat impersonal, it has lost the local character that predominated before, it is usually full of people passing through or visiting and there is an absence of locals, for a reason, although the food has improved, it is good and varied. They have increased the number of tables and have changed textiles for other fabrics, resulting in much more noise and colder, which makes it not very welcoming. The last thing, when you ask for your bar bill you will see it increased by 12.5% tip, I am not against this, but to be honest it is to warn it somewhere, perhaps on the menu, because if not, on the contrary, I can refuse to pay it. It's not honest. For me, if they fix these things, it's not a bad place to go.

We called at 5pm and asked if they would be open at 6pm and if they would be serving food just to make sure that the details on google were up to date and whoever answered the phone said yes. When we arrived a man (I assume the owner) said yes we have a table but the kitchen doesn’t open till 6:30 (which was not said over the phone) and we have a party so you will have to bare with us. We told him no problem can we order before the party does he said yes but they arrive at 7. We waited till 6:30 to order and no one cameto take our order so we went up to the bar and asked if we can order and we were told we have to wait till after the party orders. We understand the party booked in advance which is not a problem but we first should have been told over the phone about the party AND about the kitchen not opening till 6:30. WE ALSO SHOULDN'T have been told we could order before the party and then said no we can’t after we had waited 45 min for the kitchen to open. The cafe is very basic which is fine, however, the prices are too high. Two coffees over nine pounds. We did have oat milk instead of cows and one was decaf but even so that’s the most we have been charged for two medium sized coffees anywhere in the UK. There was even a 10% service charge added to the bill which again was a first for us in a cafe. Staff were very nice but we won’t return. There is a limit to how much we want to pay for coffee. It’s not £9+.
