The food was wonderful, the Donnington ales are superb, but the service was very much lacking. Our initial welcome was perfect. Our first round of drinks took quite a while to arrive, it took an age to get someone to take our food order, I had to go to the bar to get a second round of drinks, one of our mains came five minutes later than the rest, and our third round of drinks were slow to come too. Although we wanted dessert, we just couldn’t stomach more waiting. It was a busy night in fairness, but we constantly felt as though we were forgotten at the back of the pub.

Very disappointed. Had gone to the Fox Inn for lunch only to be told that there were no tables available for 'walk-ins' - even though there were quite a few tables that seemed to be free. We were also told that we could get a drink at the bar but probably couldn't get bar snacks either as the kitchen was too busy. So we got a drink (two drinks for £20 seemed a little pricey). Two ladies came in without a reservation but had no problem being seated (they were locals obviously). Four other people came in (ramblers/walkers) who were also told that the kitchen was too busy to accommodate them. We had to question how a kitchen couldn't handle a few more people on a Bank Holiday Monday - and what pub doesn't take walk-ins?? We were looking forward to eating at the Fox Inn but after our experience wouldn't recommend going there. Not friendly to people other than locals.

This is a pub in the Cotswolds that I had always wanted to visit. The village itself is very charming and lovely, but this pub stands out with its historic building and interior that blends traditional elements with a subtle touch of modernity. I honestly fall in love this place! The menu offers a wide range of traditional British dishes. It’s a high-quality bistro-style pub with an excellent wine list. All dishes we ordered were divine! The local beer was also very delicious, and I would definitely like to visit again!!!

We didn’t have a reservation but were happy to wait at the bar. My child was hungry, so I asked for bar snacks or a kids’ menu—only to be told the kitchen was “too busy” to serve bar food. After waiting over an hour, I had to ask for the menu myself, which they had forgotten to bring. When I reminded them again that we had a hungry child, they finally gave us the menu and took our order. Eventually, they found us a table—one that had been empty the entire time, right next to the loo (clearly no one wanted it). I asked to move, they said they’d sort it, then forgot again. In the end, I pointed out a free table myself, and we moved all our food and drinks over—on our own. No one asked about allergies. When the food finally arrived, the kids’ burger was bland and far from “good”. Chicken was average, broccoli soggy and flavourless. Only the calves liver was ok. Nobody asked how our food was, but sure enough, the service charge was added to the bill. I asked for it to be removed—no apologies or acknowledgment. We had a brilliant day in the Cotswolds, but The Fox Inn ruined the mood. Don’t be fooled by the high rating—this place is not worth your time.

If you are looking for a typical Cotswolds pub, this is it: tranquil village with the famed Cotswolds stone houses, low ceilings inside, fireplace, nooks and crannies, large outside garden with plenty of seating in the sun and shade. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, good selection of drinks and excellent food. What's not to like? The only thing "missing" are hordes of tourists stomping around the village on a nice sunny Sunday. 😉

We visited on Sunday night for dinner and were thoroughly impressed. It has the perfect ambiance, with rustic but cosy decor, twinkling candles on every table, a roaring fire and jazzy but unobtrusive music playing. The menu makes it difficult to choose, as there are so many delicious-sounding options, ranging from small bar snacks and nibbles to generous starters and hearty main courses. There is even a well-rounded and thoughtful cocktail list that you would not expect to find in a country pub. The wine list is extensive and varied, and there are some solid local ales on tap as well as a couple of good non-alc options. Service was warm, friendly and accommodating, and the food was excellent. Definitely try the haggis scotch egg if it is on the menu when you visit!

We booked at the Fox , in Broadwell for our yearly fiends reunion . 7 of us . warm and cosy country pub , and good atmosphere. unfortunately that all what we found positive about that place .we placed our order and had to wait almost an hour to receive 6 out the 7 mains .They forgot the cheese burger ! it came about another 10 minutes later .Although the french fries were quite acceptable, this cheese burger one of the worse I ever had .Cheap quality bun ,soggy,1 cheese slide ,same quality that the one you would find in packet of 10 in a supermarket . ready made sauce. all this for 18£ . I had much better ones for a few pound less .2 of our friends had the steak and chips. Portions were mediocre, quality of the meat was just ok , but nothing that would justify 22£.tasteless ice creams ,poor quality of red wine that arrived after the main dish was finished ,and I could go on .after the meal , we decided to play some card games , whilst the pub was still serving for about an hour. the waiter brought the bill without been asked to , put it on the table and went to get the card machine. he did not even asked how was our meal ?he probably new the answer !TBH ,The service wasn't very good and no customer interaction from the front house staff.however the surcharge was automatically added on top of our order bill, in our case 36£. There was nothing on the menu to suggest this would be the case. In summary , lovely premises but long waiting time and inexistent customer service, ver over priced for the quality of the food and drinks.

The Fox Inn is a charming little pub that offers a delightful escape for anyone visiting over the weekend. Nestled in a picturesque setting, it provides a warm and inviting atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. One of the standout dishes here is the cheese fondue, which is nothing short of exceptional. It’s rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, making it a perfect starter. I highly recommend adding extras to enhance the experience; they truly elevate the dish and make it even more indulgent. While the steak is delicious and cooked to perfection, I found myself wishing it was a tad larger. However, the quality more than makes up for the portion size. When it comes to pricing, especially compared to London’s often inflated rates, The Fox Inn offers a pleasantly reasonable menu. For the quality of food and the overall experience, it’s incredibly good value. Overall, I would give The Fox Inn a solid 10 out of 10. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, this lovely little pub is definitely worth a visit!

Very long wait for our starter (over an hour) and then again for main course. Prawns distinctly underwhelming for an £11 starter and first time we’ve paid £10 for a glass of (house) wine outside of London. However atmosphere with fire and candles lovely although the fire was completely out by 8 pm. Also the lady in charge very friendly and welcoming. When we received our bill (over £112), 12.5% had been added to the bill for service which we should have asked to be removed but didn’t but would have been a good gesture on their part to have omitted it as they knew that we had received poor service.

28/07/2024 - My partner & I were out today & happened to be in the area looking for a pub lunch. Found this place on google & went on the off chance that they might still be serving food as most other places seemed to be closed at the time we came. We arrived just as the kitchen was closing for their breaks but the staff were incredibly accommodating & still made us lunch. Super friendly host & wonderful lady behind the bar who couldn't have been better if she'd tried, even offering to help move stuff around to fit our stroller by the table for our daughter. Small village pub atmosphere, everybody we saw were very warm & polite with each other. We both got the fish & chips & it was arguably the best fish I've ever had. It was enormous, the photo really doesn't do it justice. The only criticism would be the fries, I think homestyle chips would work a lot better but the fish was more than satisfying. Fantastic price, fantastic portion size. Overall the Fox Inn is a great place to eat & if we're ever in the area we'll definitely visit again. Highly recommend.

When it was time to leave, one of the group with a recent double hip replacement needed a taxi, despite several attempts locally and multiple cancelled Ubers (don't get me started). We asked the staff if they knew anyone local, but being a Sunday, there were none. After splitting the group to fetch a car, one of the pub team kindly offered us a lift to Stow. A vast improvement on the previous management. Now a cosy welcoming pub in a beautiful Cotswolds village. We went trot the Sunday fondue which was disappointing (thus the slower score) - not thoroughly mixed and not hot enough. The bread was more like oversized crumbs and the portions of accompaniments seemed hugely out of sync. I’d suggest sticking to the a la carte menu, which if like the fayre in the other restaurants, will be in keeping with what one expects at a gastropub Great service though. Charlie was fab

Came for a family birthday expecting good things. Warm greeting and a great menu. Unfortunately after a long wait we enquired after our starters and were told “the chefs say they only got the order 13 minutes ago”; in other words, the chefs say f-off. This would have been annoying even if it were true, although we’d actually been waiting 40 minutes and the table next to us had had a starter and main during that time. I just really didn’t appreciate that at all. Plus point: service was taken off the bill without our asking; the food was fine. Won’t be coming back.

Had Sunday lunch here with friends and had a fantastic time. The pub retains all its historical character in the most idyllic of village settings. I had venison which was absolutely delicious with a pint of Donnington Gold. Staff were impeccably attentive and friendly. I won’t hesitate to come back here, just wish my local pub was this good I’d be there every week!

A wonderful Sunday lunch with friends. Natalie & her colleagues were fantastic from the very moment we stepped in the door. Great food but even greater service. Thank you for your hospitality.

We attended a Burberry organized dinner at Thyme. The even room as wonderful. Rustic and comfortable feel, and very well restored and maintained building and space. Large space that can easily handle large groups, weddings, events, etc. The room dampens the sound of large groups making it easy to have conversations. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. The food was delicious and presented well. We did not stay at the hotel portion of Thyme, however, I would believe that it is wonderful and magical.
