This was a referal as good Portuguese food. Food not good Owner friendly I would not class this as Portuguese I spoke to him regarding the menu and remarked that we love the food in the Ty Madeira Cardiff he said he knew the owner but the food was nothing like the restaurants we have been to.

The landlady and her family were most welcoming as were the locals in the bar. We had a wonderful music session in the lounge and staff couldn’t do enough for us. Excellent.

Very friendly pub run by the whole family! Reasonably priced, tasty food in generous portions (we had the 'Portuguese Chicken'). Excellent cask ale at only £3.50 a pint. Nearest pub to Llandysul Paddlers. Whilst the locals were talking Welsh when we initially went in it didn't take long before we all got chatting. Really recommend, friendly place.

Three months ago the Half Moon was flooded and closed. Now, like a phoenix with subaqua gear, its back and better than ever! This is a classic family run small Welsh pub, with great well cooked pub grub in good portions. The olives were wonderful, the Piri Piri Chicken a delight and the Irish Coffees the best I've have had in years. The welcome is always warm (I have eaten there many times over the years) and nothing is too much trouble. The beer is excellent, as are the wines and port. Oh, and the chips are pretty fabulous too!

Bar and small restaurant area. The food was well cooked and presented and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and we spoke for a while when paying - we munched on some homemade biscuits (free) whilst chatting - there a family feel to this pub.

Searching for a typical old pub that serves food and accommodated dogs close to the area were my daughter has recently moved to and we were so lucky to find this treasure, We went there on New Years day to check the place over and we definitely were not disappointed such a warm welcome by the owner and a lovely log burning fire . The wine which they specialist in was wonderful especially the Merlot and excellent selection of other wines, Nice reasonably range of bar snacks including Portuguese cooking and Tapas. On enquiring about Sunday Lunch you need to book as the owner prepares all the food fresh . We are now looking forward to our first meal at The Half Moon and many future visits,

Enjoyed a lovely home cooked meal here last night. A huge thank you to Lisa for her individual touches, especially the care & attention given to my hubbie's gluten free status as a coeliac. Cannot praise them enough and we very much enjoyed the evening and the warm welcome from John & Lisa.

Enjoying a late Autumn holiday in the area we sourced the local Pubs and restaurants through reviews such as Trip Advisor dismissing certain reviews informing us that places needs updating, is this a fair assumption when these places are probably just keeping their heads above water and their money tree is not bearing enough fruit to spend on refurbishments. What we are missing is the service and food that places like the Half Moon are trying to provide. So if you want swanky environments then pay the price but don't expect value for money such as the Half Moon but if comfortable seat are a priority then I cannot argue. On appearance it is very true the Half Moon is far from inviting from the outside on a dark rainy night and probably one of those places you would walk past and look for something more inviting. But due to the excellent reviews that trip advisor provided for the Half Moon we took the plunge. As soon as we walked in I knew it was a locals place as it was early and the bar section was already filling up, the inside maybe does need refurbishing but it also reminded me of what pubs used to be years ago, do you remember them? Places where you went out enjoyed a drink sat down amongst friendly folk who were out to enjoy themselves. The Restaurant is set apart in a room next to the Bar Room and certainly nothing fancy but getting to the point if you have been to Portugal and gone to family run restaurants which in my opinion actually serve the best food rather than the tourist places then the Half Moon is the place for you. The owner John is/was Portuguese and now has an endearing Welsh accent and very friendly making you feel welcome, The night we were there his two young girls were helping serve tables or basically making the tables up and it was a pleasure to see a family working together. Sorry to ramble on but I do not have a lot too say about the food the other reviewers have say it all but for those who have not had the pleasure of eating in a family run Portuguese restaurant I will say that the food is good honest food, not over priced Gastro food that money is paid for sitting in 'very nice' surroundings but value for good tasty food, I do eat in Gastro style places and enjoy them but sometimes I do feel over charged for what actually has been delivered on my plate. The best steaks I have ever eaten have been in Portugal, so this night was testing the Half Moon and the Half Moon won as it was one of the best steak I've had in the UK for a very long while. All dishes served were cooked spot on and really tasty, I would not like to recommend anything in particular (apart from a Portugese cooked steak) as everything I saw coming to all the tables was inviting with good value for money portions. We certainly shall look forward to revisiting in 2017!

We were expecting nothing more than a pub meal which is what we got. Owners extremely friendly and welcoming but that didn't make up for the lack of atmosphere, it felt as though we were sitting in someone's front room while they watched tv in the lounge/bar. Strange. we were only ones eating. It is in need of a refurb, very dated and a strong odour of old cooking oil. Food was ok, freshly prepared. Perhaps a little too pricy for nothing special.

We live in the village so we go here a lot. We went in initially as it was at the end of our road but now we go here because it's our favourite place. John and Lisa are lovely - it's like they're welcoming you into their home. John is Portuguese and the menu reflects this in some dishes as well as serving staple pub food. The food is always freshly cooked to order, and served with a smile and they genuinely cook the best steak I have ever had. Their daughters help out and our children love going here... I can't say enough lovely things about the place, it's friendly, great food and all at a reasonable price.

A small old pub with just a basic bar and a small separate room for eating. Everything basic, but, a great welcome by the Portuguese landlord and his partner (I presume) Nothing posh about this place but for some reason it works. Probably because of the genuine friendliness of the landlord and the desire to please his clients. The food was more than adequate and cooked hot and well,. Basic menu I had, but it was lunchtime. A nice safe and local pub to pop into and I would recommend it, but, as I have said, it's not the Ritz yet I'd rather the Half Moon for some reason. Pop over the road and look at the Teifi River over the wall. Lovely views.

Brilliant, locally run cafe/library/shop/community space. It's such a welcome change from the usual corporate blandness and the food is local, fresh, reasonably priced and tasty -(best flat white I've ever had). Good parking, dead handy.

This is probably the best breakfast in Wales. You get lovely, friendly service in a homely setting and the food is second to none. The prices are incredibly reasonable- my personal favourite is a half veggie breakfast with a piping hot mug of tea and oat milk. They cater for allergies and dietary needs really well. Don't miss the crispy hash browns

Sorry but I think this review is fair… and I am usually only too happy to give any good review to help small businesses… I asked for a gluten free avocado and egg combo on toast. It took a very long time to come, despite not many customers, and the toast was so hard I truly had problems cutting it. I was slightly underwhelmed on the combination to start with! Whilst I was there, 2 ( believe locals) walked out as their food took too long to come. To be fair they ordered just before me. So sorry, but £13.00 for a flat white and nearly inedible toast frankly wasn’t good.

We’ve just enjoyed a three night weekend at the Cilborth Airbnb which overlooked the harbour. Arriving on the Friday we walked around the village. Saturday was a longer village walk calling in at the Blue Bell Bistro for coffee and a very good bacon roll and they offered a GF version for Yolande. These bacon rolls were excellent as was the coffee. Storm bound on Sunday for relaxing and reading whilst storm force winds buffeted the area. Monday, a very enjoyable breakfast at the Blue Bell Bistro. The Blue Bell Bistro staff are very helpful and obliging and easily catered for my wife’s GF requirements. Then over to Aberaeron. Our route home took us past Glynhynod Farm, home of the wonderful Teifi Cheese and Da Mhile distillery.
