I haven't had much experience with Nepalese cuisine before so was very excited to try this restaurant. For my main, I had the lamb rump with lentils. I was a bit apprehensive about this dish as I am not a huge fan of lentils whilst lamb is one of my favourite meat. I'm glad to say that the dish did not disappoint. My opinion of lentils have definitely changed for the better; it was incredibly flavourful and my only complaint is that there wasn't more of it! The lamb was, of course, beautiful - as expected. Choosing a dessert was a struggle as they all sounded so good and so different from anything I've had before. I ended up going for the dark chocolate cremeux with guava curd and sorbet which was beautiful. The sorbet was so refreshing and light, and paired perfectly with the dark chocolate cremeux which had a much richer taste. There were some crunchy pieces in there that was delicious! The ambience of the restaurant was also lovely. After having had a busy day in London in hot weather, the peaceful vibe of the restaurant was such a haven from the hustle and bustle of the city. Staff was polite and all looked gorgeous in their traditional clothes.

Lovely meal at The Gurkhas restaurant. We started with nibbles Aloo Nimki - Potato dish, followed by main dishes of Monk fish for myself & lamb dish for my husband which were all delicious. We had a spring salad on the side, would also suggest having rice as well. Desserts were equally good. Service was very attentive. Great price currently for 2 courses £24 - really great value We thought the alcohol Drinks were a little on the pricey side. Definitely recommend a meal here.

A short walk from Oxford circle tube stop- a 5 min walk away. Seating on long bench felt low for a taller person . Low lighting at front end, it could be brighter. The further back at the bar area with the light well is much brighter and a bit more airy. Tables was also a tad bit close together. Nice mirror effect made the interior look bigger. Appetisers was very nice, Th Aloo Nimki: Cold Potatoes salad with onions was fresh and was good with the pastry parcels with looked like crispy squares . It is very filling due to the deep fried pastry parcels/ squares. Bala was also good with a nice crushed lentil flavour. Mains- was Disappointed that they had run out of the lamb . The Gorkali Pork chops was slices of pork: the Pork was great on the outside - nice and charred but over done on the inside unfortunately, the mint sauce was nice. Monkfish Cholia- The monk fish again over done. The garlic slices was too intense as burnt. Deserts: The Khuwa Creme caramel Was Excellent. The Dark Chocolate Cremeux: This is chocolate mousse with pieces of courgette with cumin which was not great and did not suit. The Napalean mule cocktail was below average! The Spring Tai which was purple was a much nicer cocktail. Service was good albeit they were understaffed.

Unfortunately, this restaurant is closed. We tried to visit this restaurant during our holidays in London (September 10th) and the local seemed to be closed from several months before.

We really loved our visit to Lahpet on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, seated outside on the terrace. It felt a bit like being on holiday. Service from our young waitress was really sweet and attentive. The crispy fried bream dish is a taste sensation and is really popular judging by the number of plates going past. The aubergine with crispy onion and peanuts is also a winner. We will definitely return as we discovered we really enjoy the flavour profile of Burmese food.
