Delicious food, very relaxing and very tasty excellent flavour and great options for vegetarian/vegan. Would highly recommend trying 😋

Consistently yummy food and the best cafe to work/study from near Liverpool Street!

Food was ok - tasted a bit boring.

Current Cafe, an interesting place serving Asian/Japanese fare. Tried the mapo tofu with beef which comes with quinoa rice. The tofu was like smooth cubes of jelly and the beef was fine mince but clumped together probably because it had not thawed properly when it was cooking. It was ok but lacked umami, but I reckon its msg that gives it that kick in other restaurants. The loose leaf variety was good and they even had this Monkey tea which tasted like a metal pipe.

The whole experience in here was so shocking, almost felt like a prank. Matcha latte we got didn’t have nearly enough matcha in it, it was almost completely white. The sando’s they’re selling at 8£ is basically a piece of chicken and some cabbage in a supermarket bread. I’ve never ordered a sando before and got hovis 50/50 instead of milk bread. To top it all of, the server was really off, borderline rude. Nice interiors but really shocking service, quality, taste and pricing.

I recently had dinner at Current cafe and was deeply impressed with both the exquisite cuisine and the impeccable service. The menu featured a variety of innovative dishes, with bold flavors and a beautiful presentation. The attentive and knowledgeable staff made sure that our meal was memorable, providing great advice and ensuring our satisfaction. I can't recommend Current cafe enough for a fantastic dining experience….👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Been here several times to grab some food, decent for the price and a local business so nice to support. The server who someone else has pictured in reviews is rude and unfriendly unfortunately, which makes the entire process of ordering and eating unpleasant as it feels like you’re unwanted

Lovely cafe, great food I had the salmon teriyaki and a iced matcha latte which was super refreshing and the interior is really cute with good music too relax too and read a book !

Kept reading online that it was a good place to do some work but they have no wifi, I checked with the staff. Decided to stay for some food since the atmosphere was cute. Got the kimchi and tofu sando but it made me feel a bit sick, wasn't very good. I was also the only one there and it took fifteen minutes for them to make my sandwich. The staff wasn't friendly either. Ended up going to a Starbucks to work and the staff were nicer. Kind of surprising that staff at a massive chain would be more friendly than a local cafe.

I was passing through the street and this very welcoming coffee shop got my attention. It was quite crowded and in all this the girls were kind, good service. The food was very good, I order a chicken teriyaki and a matcha latte. Can’t complain. Definitely raccomandate and for sure I will be back at this shop soon

Both the coffee and matcha tasted really good but the only downside was that the cup size was really small.

This is officially my favourite cafe in London now. So glad that I found it. The environment is cozy and peaceful. The food and loose leaf tea are something that’s hard to find in other places in London. Reading, having coffee chat or simply enjoying a meal here would make you feel recharged.

best place ever been. I was walking around and I found this little cafe. Very very nice. the people there are really kind, always smiling. Rita always makes sure of the plants, and those plants give a touch of tranquility and peace. not to mention their cakes, biscuits made by them, delicious matcha. I recommend it

This cafe is a great place to get your head down and focus on work. The food was great. I had the avocado egg sandwich and some chicken gyozas. They were so delicious. Loved the vibe of that place! Would go again :)

We came across this Bar by chance, I was with a friend and we chose to eat there. The staff was very courteous and professional, they treated us very well, we ate some very, very good fusion dishes; the Turmeric Latte was delicious, Gyoza and much more but definitely what surprised me was the Pink Matcha. I thank the girls on the staff again for their availability, it will certainly be an obligatory stop when I return to London.

I love this coffee shop, you will find the best matcha and coffee in one place, always having seasonal drinks, cakes are absolutely delicious, gluten free and vegan options, food is 10/10 freshly prepared. As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is just calming and refreshing, Rita and Tia always making sure I am a satisfied, happy customer. Would recommend it 100%

Very cute and cozy cafe, love the decor. Unfortunately the staff who took my order and served me wasn’t friendly and was rude. Matcha flat white wasn’t great and milk was hardly hot. There were no other customers apart from me in the cafe but my order still felt rushed.

The texture of the wooden table used by the store makes people feel sticky but His drink menu is full of specialties. We ordered the beetroot latte, which was delicious. The fried pork chop in the sandwich was a little overcooked, but overall not bad

the service is great but the food is rather disappointing...had pork ketsu and it came with ketchup sauce on top. Had a great impression walking in, with a great ambience through the lighting and layout. The service seemed fairly uninterested, which seems the norm in London. Wifi not working, and the music was pretty loud for an early morning weekday vibe. So I set about googling and headed to Fazenda, a few doors down, and that was great!

Best Coffee and space very close to Liverpool street station. An oasis amidst the pace and bustle of London. A spot to unwind and have a peaceful coffee and bite to eat. A great place to replenish strength and enjoy your coffee break.

We stumbled upon that café randomly and a great time with a great view. Food was rich and crispy. I recommend the mocha as it's not overly sweet.

This is my favourite place to eat near Liverpool Street Station. The food is great and the atmosphere is lovely. They do the best coffee around too. And all very reasonably priced.

Love the coffee here, the taste is always very refreshing but also soothing. Service is great! The barista always leaves cool coffee art although it is usually destroyed once I get back to the office - but still nice to look at though :) Matcha cookies are a nice breakfast.

Tia was a lovely barista, I study nearby and she knows my drink by heart, was very patient with my card as it kept declining due to a network issue, best coffee and even better staff

Beautiful space filled with light, flavour and Joy. I was instantly made to feel like I was home.

I ordered a pork sando with ‘cabbage slaw’ as one of the photos here. It looked really good with thick cabbage salad in Sandwiches. But I got one or two sheets of thin greens instead of cabbage slaw’. I visited here specifically because of this menu. There was no information about this change at all. The table was sticky like pubs, and the atmosphere wasn’t comfortable. I trusted many good reviews on google but it was not like that at all unfortunately.

Perfect place for work. Nice, quiet, plenty of power outlet. Price is decent. Tea is good, very cute tea pots, etc. Would definately coming back. Nov 2023: we came back again, but this time was a bit disappointed, the filter coffee taste no good, and not hot enough. We found the table is sticky, so we wiped it with wet wipe, the wet wipe became black. Very disappointing.

They have the best iced matcha I’ve had. Lovely little coffee shop, great atmosphere, relaxing music, great variety, outoor seating. I highly recommend!

I really loved the yummy umami katsu sandwich, and the accompanying salad made primarily of high quality greens was much needed. However, the best part of my experience at this cafe was the delightful conversation with the lively young women that work there.

Having lived in the area for a couple years now and experiencing my fair share of the local cafés, Current will forever have my heart. From the music (a good range from Duke Ellington to the Velvet Underground, never a weak song in the mix) to the food, which is filling without leaving you stuffed, there isn't much more one could ask for. Great for people watching, studying, or a sweet catchup. And the matcha is delicious.

The best coffee near Liverpool Street

The only place I’ve found in London that does hojicha! The atmosphere is lovely — very peaceful and calm. I’ve tried the food here yet but it all looks delicious. Also the selection of teas looks really special!

Best cafe in city of London! The coffee is very smooth and delicious and the cookies are to die for. The manager Joy has the best T-shirts and is super friendly.

I bought lunch a few weeks ago, and my Google time line prompted me to leave a review. I just left a score that I felt was appropriate for the cost, portion size, tastiness, and wait time of what I ordered.

Really nice staff and accommodated our big group perfectly!

I stepped in for a Tuna sandwich at lunchtime. 1. It took 20 minutes for one sandwich. 2. The staff seemed to provide the orders of everyone else in the cafe and placed priority on bigger orders or people they seemed friendly/familiar with 3. When I gave them the feedback, staff dismissed the comment and then lied saying some meals were already prepared. They provided three sandwiches to other customers who came later. At no point did they even think to apologise. The sandwich was perfectly fine but not worth a 25 minute wait (when it was quiet) and they clearly have a problem managing customer orders and quite aloof and unpleasant

Lovely little cafe in the backstreets of the City of London. Nice enough staff although not accurate about the blends they have. Offering a nice selection of unique beans. Coffee - 8.0: although a dark roast it’s actually mild & creamy. Slightly sweet for my taste, not a fan of a refined sugar finish. The colouring is very light and I’d prefer a stronger feel. Overall, one of the better coffees I’ve had in London.

- spicy chicken katsu sando £8 popped by this cafe for a study session after seeing it recommended by a few others! there are plugs at most seats/tables and the staff are lovely as they don’t rush you to leave but i felt it was v chilly inside so i didn’t get as much work done as i wanted🥲 the sando was smaller than expected for the price and would’ve been nicer toasted but the katsu itself was very thick and juicy + they use wholemeal seeded bread so you are getting high quality ingredients! it also came with a seaweed cucumber salad on the side which was super refreshing and a nice little touch :’) not sure if i’d get the sando again tho bc the spice was from wasabi which i am not a huge fan of so i think next time i’d try the teriyaki or curry dishes bc they look so good!

Lovely vibes, great food. The pork katsu curry is a favourite and often sold out by 1pm so get there early. A gem in the heart of the city if a tad pricey.

The Teriyaki Chicken is exceptional - it is cooked to perfection, and the sauce is sweet and savoury, how I like it. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The atmosphere is just lovely.

This is my routine espresso place. I indulged my taste buds with the irresistible coffee, expertly brewed to perfection and bursting with a symphony of unique and delicious flavours.

3.5 stars for me. I was looking for a coffee shop to work at and it's not ideal. Coffee is good. Can't say about the food because I didn't order food. Soothing music in the background. However, the smell and smoke from the kitchen is sooooo strong. Almost like they don't have an air extractor. It's not like I was there at peak lunch time. I arrived at 2pm and the smell was still very strong at 4pm. I was sat at the window. But the window table is very sticky. I used a napkin to remove some sauce. As it was still sticky, i then asked nicely if I could have a towel to clean and the lady look annoyed. She just passed her cleaning cloth once without any product.

The matcha lattes are so good in here! NEED to go back and try their food. However the white woman in there needs to fix her face and attitude, you are in a customer service role.

Cozy Japanese cafe. They serves meals, pastry, coffee, cold drinks & Asahi beer. I had the hojicha latte, good amount of foams with a slight hint of hojicha. I think it’s ok.

Food, coffee and atmosphere is amazing! Like a pocket of east london energy nestled near The City. I had a vegan kimchi tofu 'Sando' (sandwich) which was delicious, and used the WiFi to catch-up on virtual work over the afternoon

Went inside café for first time but "Chinese foods" is my favourite! Having Salmon Teriyaki with rice and side bowl of cucumber and sort of lecture or something like that with pot of green tea. When I eat Salmon Teriyaki and rice, taste is outstanding! Will visit again one day. Would recommend for customer to eat there. 10/10

One of my favourites in Aldgate. Great for coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch, also wonderful owners and staff. Favourite things for me are garlic shrimp rice bowl, salmon teriyaki and the new mapo tofu. Also love the matcha cookies and matcha banana bread. Today I tried the matcha Easter egg nest and the matcha madeleines ❤️

Delicious food and great coffee, never been disappointed here! Just make sure you go early because they sometimes sell out of the more popular dishes later in the day!

Delicious freshly cooked salmon teriyaki served with an excellent side salad. Loved the modern crockery, airy space and charming staff. And the carrot cake was superb!

I had lunch there today with my boyfriend and we loved it! We had katsu pork and teriyaki chicken - the portions were generous and the dishes tasted clean and flavoursome. Coffee and cake for dessert are highly recommended - they make them with interesting twists like matcha cookies or Earl Grey banana cake. Best cafe in the area!!
