Hi there, I am writing to express my deep disappointment and disgust regarding my recent visit to Tampopo East Street. I had dinner at your restaurant. Neither of us eats meat—I am a pescetarian, and he is a vegan. He specifically requested the vegan menu and made it clear multiple times that he wanted the sweet potato katsu. Despite this, he was served chicken. When we pointed out the mistake, the waitress proceeded to shout at us aggressively, insisting that we had ordered chicken, which makes no sense as neither of us eats it. She continued to argue, even after we calmly stated that we were not upset—the place was loud—but simply wanted the correct dish. Her behaviour escalated—she shouted at us extensively, pointed at us, and even called the manager despite our attempts to de-escalate. Though she was eventually made to apologise, she did so while laughing behind us the entire time. For the remainder of our visit, we were met with hostility and rude looks. This entire experience was humiliating and entirely unacceptable. Given the level of hostility and the fact that my guest is a regular customer who orders the same dish every time, the only conclusion I can draw is that this treatment was racially motivated. I expect a formal response addressing this incident. If you disagree please send over a recording of the incident for me to look over formally with the appropriate so I can decide whether legal action or another sort investigation into the matter is needed. I do not take such matters lightly and a removal of the service charge is not sufficient action in respond to the matter. I am deeply disturbed by your institution and there is no excuse for such behaviour. Sincerely,

Lovely atmosphere and food with a very polite, friendly server called Sara. Highly recommend

Avoid this restaurant - poor food and expensive. It was good long time ago. I went today and the food is terrible. Portion sizes very small. Food tasteless. I ordered the green curry it didn’t even taste like green curry. The rice portion size was even smaller than a child portion. That cost me £20. The drinks are expensive too. Basically a glass of ice, with sugar syrup and a stingy drop of fruit flavour. It’s not even fresh. I will never be going back again. Bad experience.

Food and vibes are always great at Tampopo

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Was on a huge time crunch to get to a play. Sara sat us and immediately understood we needed a quick service. She was attentive. Went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I 100% will be back to visit her and try brunch!

i had come here with my friends at 3:02 for the brunch when we arrived we were presented with hostility from one of the waiters who said that the booking was at 3 and we were too late. The manager andrea then began serving us with a horrible attitude driving us to get out despite us still drinking even tho the place was empty. HORRIBLE SERVICE

We visited early in March. The food was delicious and we enjoyed every dish we ordered. We will definitely come again! We have been served by Sek which was extremely nice and helpful.

We came for a meal at your restaurant on December 29th and had a fantastic experience thanks to Julia's outstanding service. She was incredibly attentive to our son, making him feel comfortable and welcome throughout the meal. It's rare for him to finish his food when we dine out, but he devoured his meal, a testament to how well Julia engaged with him. The food was also absolutely brilliant, exceeding our expectations. Julia's friendly and professional demeanour made our dining experience truly memorable. She is a true asset to your company.

One of my favourite places in the area. The food is incredible and very accommodating to people with allergies or dietary requirements. The bang bang prawns are to die for. Also a great selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Most importantly, the service is top notch. Every single team member is incredibly nice and knowledgeable, but Julia deserves a special mention.

Loved this little find, I never knew it existed, but glad we found it. Food was amazing and a selection to suit all. The place is family friendly as well. We were served by Sara she was brilliant, helpful at recommending dishes and was brilliant with her interaction with my children too. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other food on the menu too.

Our server Frankie was so lovely and attentive. The food was delicious and everything was so fresh. We tried the kimchi/cucumber and fried Pak choy which were so good and the Kim chi/avocado rice was amazing. The cocktails were so nice and refreshing and the two for £15 during happy hour was great. The interior, atmosphere and music were fantastic too - I kept Shazaming the songs, the playlist was lit :)

Très très bon, on a super bien mangé! Et le service donné par Julia était parfait! Pad Thaï parfait, toujours au petit soin pour nous et de bons conseils! Aussi pour donner des bons plans dans Londres!

What a fun restaurant to dine at. The staffs were all very friendly and attentive. They gave you time and space. Never once we felt being rushed. The menu was full of delicious dishes. The Nasi Goreng was very flavoursome. Korean popcorn chicken was crispy. The Hong Kong waffle was also nice. We enjoyed their homemade lemonade as well. Definitely will go back and try more dishes on their menu!

Had a great family meal. Great atmosphere and excellent food.

We had Sara on our table and she was amazing. She paid attention to us, tended to our needs and adviced us on food. She even took a picture of us on my camera. The food was delicious, drinks were amazing for the bottomless brunch. Definitely coming back

Spicy fast food canteen style. Dishes were small but tasty, cocktails were sweet and avoidable. The plates were shaped like mini trays (not a good thing). Tables and (our) chairs felt like they came from a Little Chef. The experience was in and out (for the food) , but we just did not want to linger. Pad Thai was a particular disappointment and to be avoided.

Food was absolutely yummy and the cocktails good. Staff was friendly and a nice ambience though a bit noisy. Good overall price and portions (1exception). For 2 people we paid £66 for 3 starters a main a cocktail and a beer. - Korean popcorn chicken - Y-U-M-M-Y that sauce, for real… - chicken satay- super nice, really nutty sauce and the chicken fell apart - fillet steak tataki - ok this was great, but you get 5 tiny pieces of beef for 10£…maybe not worth that cost, but if you don’t mind it’s super nice - nasi goreng royale (with prawns) - super tasty with the perfect level of spice, you feel it, it’s there, but it doesn’t overpower - the lychee coctail is nice if you like smooth sweet cocktails

Just an absolute disaster from start to finish which culminated in my colleague being given food with gluten in despite declaring her intolerance and also taking her food back to triple check it. We waited 30 mins for drinks… incredibly frustrating when no one is communicating with you. Our starters came out with some of the mains. One person got their dish as most of had finished. Alongside the GF debacle, my vegetarian colleague stopped eating his pad Thai after he realised it was chicken and not tofu. These things are so basic and easy to get right. My food was fine. It’s basic Asian imitation food in a canteen setting. Just an incredibly disappointing experience. The manager took 50% of our food and comped the two meals which obviously couldn’t be eaten. They waived the service charge which - being frank - wouldn’t have been paid regardless. I appreciated her gesture but it didn’t stop my colleague spending the rest of her night very poorly.

every time i come in london i come to this place, I’ve been there for the first time 7 years ago and was so pleased with the quality of my meal. The chef is really good !

Tampopo’s was absolutely amazing, the ambience of the place was extremely cozy and inviting! The food as well as the staff made it a hundred times better. The kind lady who served my family- Julia, she was really polite, friendly and helpful. Overall the whole dining experience was a 10/10 !

We have two people gone to eat without a reservation at lunchtime. They attended us super fast and Sara has been super friendly and attentive at all times. We would repeat without a doubt thanks to the great service of Sara.

I work in Soho Square a stones throw from this cool, friendly, good value , great food restaurant /bar.... Service is always spot on (Julia is adorable ) and the drinks and food selection varied, easy to understand and great quality and portion sizes for main plates are BIG!!!!! ..Perfect for a quick lunch , a big celebration with many or a chilled lazy catch up...I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone who likes street food with a bit extra!

Food was very nice and Sara, our waiteress, was just great. She helped my wife choosing not spicy dishes and the choice was very appreciated. She has also helped me to find my spicy favourite dish: spicy pork. Thabk you Sare, you were amazing!

Food is really nice, have a lot of different options and staff was very accomodating with my chilli allergies which usually restaurants don't seem to understand. Place is really cool and makes you feel as if you are in some asian street food market. Shout to Sara who was extra special!

We used to come here often when we lived in London in 2022, but since it became Tampopo, I've been back twice and I've been disappointed both times. To start with the positive: the room is very pretty and the staff are very friendly. But then, the food really isn't interesting, the pad thai doesn't taste like pad thai, the curries are bland and the cocktails are too sweet. It was much better before, we won't be coming back. (Ps: if the restaurant managers see this message, please take care of your toilets, because it says a lot about the restaurant).

Tasty and creative Asian fusion with great service (thanks Sara!). Beef rendang roti was delicious and loved the honey chicken bubble waffle. All really reasonably priced

Amazing experience, amazing food, amazing service. Highly recommend this place! We were served by Andrea who was amazing and ensured we had everything we needed. My partner and i got: Szechuan squid to share, this was delicious. Not dry and not too oily. Enough batter to add taste while not so thick that it didn't taste of squid anymore. I had the Katsu Udon Soup, which was just amazing. It is now tied as my favourite Katsu curry dish, which is an impressive feat as my favourite has stood strong for years. My partner had a Buddha Bowl, which was also delicious, it was airy yet had many flavours coming together to compliment each other. I also had loose leaf green tea, which was delicious too. Service was really fast, i like that we got the small plate slightly before large plates to dig into our starter but that we could finish it alongside our main meals. Highly recommend this place!

The food was ok, but why did they give me such a big caramelised onion, how much can I eat when I'm out with my friends. The plate looks good in the picture. I went the 2nd time with my friends and again I ordered a "big bowl" of food and instead I received something on the bottom. Tasty but I stood up and I was still hungry. Different from other restaurants where I ordered just a main and a side.

The place is such a vibe for either a full sit down meal or drinks and some sharing plates. Food was so well executed and had beautiful presentation. The venue has very cool decor and is very lively. Would definitely recommend!

My happy place in London. Never extremely full, very friendly service (specially Frankie!) and amazing food, with a twist but keeping the original glare! And they always have a Gibli movie on! What else can you ask for? ^^

This restaurant had a lovely, warm atmosphere, and the staff greeted us with genuine smiles. The food was absolutely delicious! The satay chicken was perfectly grilled and served with a rich, flavorful peanut sauce. The beef rendang was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the pad Thai had a wonderful balance of sweet, sour, and savory flavors. The cocktails were expertly crafted; the Singapore Sling was perfectly balanced, and the Thai Coconut Punch was refreshingly tropical. Special mention to the barman for his skill! The happy hour was an added bonus. We will definitely be back!

Good atmosphere and well decorated space. Our server Aish was really friendly and helpful. Thai red rump steak was incredibly flavourful, as was the Yamato fillet steak. Took the rest away as portions were generous, so price was reasonable. Will definitely be coming back.

We come to Tampopo whenever we are in Oxford Circus and it is always remarkable! The service is always fantastic but in particular our server Sara was lovely! Very polite and helpful and checked in with us to ensure everything was okay! Would recommend a trip to Tampopo.
