The Gurkha in Tandridge

I'm Just over 30 years of age and I have never had a curry at a restaurant... I have to say I was not disappointed one bit!!! Food was lovely, staff were very friendly and made my mum's birthday wonderful!! I would 1000% recommend the Gurkha ☺️

A great accidental discovery! Loved the ambience, service and the food. Veg chowmien (spicy) was my favourite. Pizza was amazing too. Good quantity. Jhol momos and paneer were also great! Will definitely visit again!

Nice place with great food and service. Goat on the bone was outstanding. We visited on a Sunday night which was quiet so couldn't really test the atmosphere but will hopefully return again soon on a sat night.

I've had the pleasure of staying here whilst travelling for work, on a number of occasions. I always check if I might be nearby! Rooms are good for an overnight stay. The restaurant is fantastic. Food is WOW! Staff are really friendly and helpful (to someone new to Nepalese food). I have my favourite when I'm home in Manchester, but this has to be my favourite in the south. Always a good atmosphere. Fully licensed to serve alcohol.

We stayed in Crown plaza hotel. We went this restaurant for dinner . Staff were very friendly, polite, received great service. Delicious foods, will visit again.

Little disappointed with the tempura veg, not tempura batter at all. Otherwise, absolutely fantastic, really personal for a large restaurant. Portions are great, flavours amazing, staff lovely.

I had a great experience at [The Gurkha]. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was pleasant, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and look forward to visiting again!

What a great find while staying away on Business it gets a bit blah with food in Hotels, past this restaurant on the way to my Hotel and thought I would come back later. I wasn’t disappointed I couldn’t choose what Nepalese dish to have so asked the waiter for a recommendation, after him asking me a couple of questions of what I like he ordered a dish for me that when it came out was probably the best curry I’ve ever had. If you are in the area definitely go here the food and service is superb!

An outstanding Nepalese menu that’s a delight for the taste buds. Each dish is bursting with authentic flavors that make it clear the chefs are very experienced. The variety and quality of the vegan options are exceptional too. Highly recommend for anyone seeking delicious Nepalese and Indian food with vegan options in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Extremely bad vegan food. Heated up from frozen so the sauce split. Frozen veg in a frozen sauce... really awful.

Amazing food, we had the onion bhaji with poppadoms and then I had the korma with pilau rice and my husband had the madras with pilau rice and a keema naan. The food was full of flavour and the naan was light and fluffy. Amazing restaurant, just wish we lived closer!

Our first time at the Gurkha and we will definitely return. We were a party of fifteen celebrating a Ruby wedding and the staff went to great lengths to ensure our evening ran smoothly. Really super.

Excellent restaurant, the Nepalese selection makes a great difference from the standard curries. Good selection desserts as well. Very helpful and friendly staff.

This is a lovely Nepalese restaurant and the food is delicious. The service was excellent. I would highly recommend the Momos here, which are dumplings similar to dim sum.

Best Nepalese restaurant for miles, the food is excellent and the menu is comprehensive and has something for everyone even that friend or relative that doesn’t like curry. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. Can’t wait until my next visit

I would highly recommend Gurkha, we have come as a large group several times now and the food and service is always excellent. The food is tasty, authentic Indian and not greasy or oily. We have eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants before the naan here is the best we've had.

I love curry and have never thrown one away... Until now! Since Velevety Ginger has been closed we've been doing the rounds to try and find a new curry house, with little success so far. This place just made bottom of the list! Maybe their Nepalese dishes are edible but I would really think twice before ordering an Indian from here. The Dhansak and Tikka Masala were like nothing I've ever tasted before. The Dhansak was so lemony and bland and the Tikka Masala literally tasted like tomato soup! I don't even know how you could class them as curry, in all honesty. The poppadoms were also completely crushed and at £1 a shot I just don't think that's good enough. Honestly it's the worst curry I've ever eaten, I'm afraid to say. The delivery driver was friendly though...

So tell first of all the food was great and the service was too. All the staff were attentive as well as helpfull in every way and also they make sure we were comfortable as well . And let’s not forget the owner they are one of the nicest person I know. So give it a try and I am sure you will not regret it.

I was recommended the Gurkha by some friends who regularly visit this restaurant. Wow that's probably the best curry I've ever eaten. The food is amazing. Fresh and full of flavours that I've never experienced. The Gurkha staff were so nice and friendly and very attentive. The menu is vast with so much to offer. I will certainly be returning to this wonderful establishment again and I would recommend this very highly...

Ordered a delivery so can't comment on the atmosphere. As for the food I can definitely comment and say there rifle curry is one of the best I've tried in the UK. It truly does taste of sweet and sour with a lovely warmth to it. Highly recommended

I would definitely recommend the goat cur.... full of flavor. The drinks options were a little limited. But still had some good beer on draught, shame the IPA wasn't available. This is our ‘go to’ Nepalese/Curry restaurant. First of all, the food is amazing. Freshly produced, well presented and full of flavour What ever dish you order you can be guaranteed it won’t disappoint (they even do pizza for that member of your party that hasn’t yet found the delights of exotic spices and sauces). The service is always top notch and they can’t do enough to make sure you have a great evening out. I’m glad to say it’s becoming more and more popular as words spreads about how good it is so make sure you book. It’s easy to find, plenty of parking and if you have too many cobras, there’s a hotel above the restaurant.

We ate here for the first time and will definitely return. Lots of dishes to choose from. This is not your run if the mill curry house. It has many dishes that you don't often see, as it has a proud Nepalese heritage. The food was absolutely amazing, lovely spices, great taste. The staff are very attentive. I didn't know a lot of the dishes on the menu, but the staff took time to explain. A great variety of beers and wine, too. The venue is well spaced out, light and airy with fantastic Himalayan pictures, etc. It is a stand-alone building off the A22 and has plenty of parking. Everything is on one level for the restaurant, so it should be great for people of all physical abilities. Highly recommended.

Very good food, nice ambience and great service. Prices are quite reasonable and portions are well placed compared to other similarly priced restaurants. We had ordered vegetarian dishes in Nepali sauces, which were great. Not the standard Bengali taste that you get in every second Indian restaurant in the name of North Indian food. Here it was authentic Nepali taste, which was much closer to the North Indian.

Me and my partner visited the gurkah this evening as soon as we walked in we felt very welcome the food was amazing and the staff were very attentive. We will definitely be visiting again very soon 👌 thank you to all the staff 🙂would highly recommend

I hadn't tried Nepalese food, but it was amazing. We had a prawn puree to start. Which was very flavoursome. I had lamb tawa, not too spicy but very tasty and 'melt in the mouth' with garlic rice 😋 my husband had a goat curry, equally fabulous, again spicy but not too much. Staff were friendly and helpful.

My family and I have been here on numerous occasions and have not had 1 bad meal! Service is great, food is amazing and is all in all a great place to eat out! THE BEST NEPALESE/CURRY HOUSE I refuse to go anywhere else for one!

Superb restaurant, would certainly go back here

Starters was beautiful very light and tasty could of eat it ten times over. Chicken biriyani was delicious and wife had chicken chow mien which was delicious as well . My boy ordered a chicken madras which was mega hot 🔥 I had to swap my biriyani with him as it was too hot for him but also for me as well. I thought I was the spice king but it knock me on my arse. I will be going back 1 for the tasty food and 2 to take on the chicken madras again .

The best Indian/Nepalese food I have had in the UK. Beats even the famous places like Dishoom. Very flavourful food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Truly a hidden gem

Beware of the food dyes they use! I ate the tandoori chicken and my fingernails are still bright orange a day later despite scrubbing. Must be awful for your teeth as well and can't be healthy to have artificial additives. Absolutely unnecessary! It's a shame because the food tastes good (although overpriced).

The food here is perfect. Delicious. Hot. Great portion sizes. The staff are welcoming and happy to help with selections. Prices are average but the quality and authenticity are way above your regular standards. Dhansak was my favourite curry I’ve ever had and this is a return visit which shows standards are consistent. Well done. I cannot wait to visit again when im staying in Felbridge.

We booked this restaurant whilst we were staying at the Crowne plaza and wow. Can i just say wow? From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, the food was delicious, the vibes were immaculate. The Gurkha restaurant had left the best impressions with me on Sunday. The Friendliness of the hosts, good food, lovely presentation, extensive wine list, and excellent dessert. Although there is a relaxed and calm atmosphere, the personnel is also very cordial. You can tell that making the clients happy is their first concern. The food is very good, with some traditional Nepali dishes and some modern twists, and it is definitely worth the money.It would be nice to return here frequently.
