The Grumpy Mole in Reigate and Banstead

Wonderful food…conservatory area lacking in Ambience, the bar area is beautiful and luxurious, the middle restaurant nicely done up but the conservatory area needs an update and lift. Needs new floor, soft furnishings & plants and nice table lamps ect. The food, staff are all excellent 👌🏼 and location beautiful. Cannot fault the food 👌🏼

A friend and I tried to find somewhere local for A/Tea. We had to wait to be attended, then wait for the menu/to be served. The Left didn't seem to know what the Right was doing. Perhaps not enough staff? I'd previously stated it was to be for a birthday and one veggie. The cake stand arrived. Deary me, I've done a lot of A/Teas, but the sandwiches here....... the bread had been cut far too thickly. The smoked salmon was passable, the ham and tomato; one thin slice of plastic ham and a thin slice of tomato - as for the coronation chicken; very thinly spread along the bread and the curry hit the back of the throat. All bread and barely anything else. The scones were nice. Three each of very tiny pieces of cake. Just as well the scones were filling! The table nearby us was obviously celebrating a birthday and out came a cake with a candle. Perhaps they had brought the cake themselves? I don't know. I waited for one to come for my friend - no and I couldn't ask without spoiling the 'surprise'. A long wait for the bill, then the awkward "press this or that button for a tip". I wouldn't recommend it.

I booked the private room for my husband's 40th birthday last year with friends and family. From start to finish Jessica was on hand and we met in person to discuss and nothing was too much trouble. They even decorated the room for me with my supplies, they even had their own flowers for the tables, and name places which saved me the time arranging. Food was on time, and waiters and waitresses friendly and efficient. Even the bar staff next door were welcoming. would recommend this to anyone looking for a special occasion. thank you Jessica and team x

Visited the Grumpy Mole today for a cream tea. We were a group of 24 ladies, so the noise level was quite high. We were in a separate room at the side of the public house. It was beautifully set up and the staff were excellent. The food was bought in when we were all present. It was presented on cake stands, one between two. There was a minor glitch over a vegetarian option which was dealt with instantly. I had spoken with the events team prior to the tea. They were informative and very helpful. Thank you to all concerned for making this a lovely friendly afternoon gathering. Enjoyed by all. We will be back!,

So, first time in Tadworth and needed somewhere close for dinner. We did arrive early but greeted with a smile and seated immediately. My daughter and partner had the Sunday roast and I had the steak and ale pie. We were blown away by the service, attentiveness, and quality of food. If you go, have the bread and butter pudding? Arguably the best I’ve had. Thank you.

I planned a family event and could not have had things go smoother! I wasn't able to follow simple instructions, however the team (Grace specifically) was so considerate of the stress I was under and made things work for me. I honestly could not recommend this place enough for any events that people want to plan! If I could give more than five stars I would! Thank you Grace!

Lovely pub, lovely staff, lovely location. I had the 3 cheese ploughman’s, all very well done & nicely presented. Rest of party had beef pie & chicken curry, all very well received & enjoyed by everyone.

Nice location. Bar very cosy and great bar staff and service. Shame about the food. Extremely limited choice for vegetarians but there was an extensive gluten free menu for those who avoid gluten but eat animals. For a starter we shared the loaded skins. Two very small potato skins with tasteless cheese and brown sauce for £9.50. Vegan chicken burger was a lump of breaded frozen quorn from the supermarket in a brioche with a pickle. Chicken supreme apparently was nice.

We didn’t actually get to eat at this restaurant. When booking we advised one of our party was wheelchair bound and may need access to the disabled toilet. We were first advised they didn’t have one which we knew was untrue. When challenged on this they said their disabled toilet is in a room for large parties and functions and is for that private area only! So they tick the box that they have a disabled toilet but is not for use by restaurant users. Needless to say we cancelled our reservation and will not be using this restaurant again.

Soggy veg. Very average food. Not impressed. Service was good but didn't make up for the mediocre dinner. (Sunday roast, chicken).

An unusually disappointing meal at this Grumpy Mole. The lamb rump had been poorly prepared by the butcher/ kitchen and had too much gristle and was extremely tough. At least a third of the meat was discarded as tough and un-chewable. No one came to inquire “how were our meals” and as a result I had to attract the attention of a server to pass my comment of complaint - suggesting she told both the chef and the butcher about the poor quality cut of meat. The beer was also not good, likely bottom of the barrel. Lack of attention to detail resulted in a very below standard meal at this restaurant.

First visit here but know the GM chain and my new favourite over RH8 Sorry! Great welcome and friendly welcome to a busy Monday lunchtime. We had the liver and bacon and the best pub pie. All fabulous and even the dog got a treat. Such a lovely ambiance which is hard to create but the team were superb.

Despite knowing the area well, it’s the first time we have visited but it won’t be the last! The food was great with well sized portions and despite being busy, the service was spot on!

Excellent Restaurant. We have never been disappointed when eating at the Grumpy Mole in Tadworth. The food is delicious, the helpings are generous, the staff are lovely - friendly, helpful, smiley - and the service is excellent. All nine dishes were delivered at the same time. This is no mean feat in a very busy restaurant. We are all looking forward to going again soon.

Went for a scrumptious meal with the hubby and my little rascals (sorry if anyone’s meal was ruined by little Barney screaming and throwing up). A lovely staff member with the bow in her hair, I didn’t catch her name, was very helpful with him couldn’t have been more pleased, hopefully she gets a bonus for that mess!! Ha ha ha ha. Food was good.

Today my partner & I enjoyed a delicious three course Sunday Lunch at the Grumpy Mole in Tadworth. As we had deliberately not eaten breakfast because we knew the menu was great, we were hungry and chose the leek & potato soup, and the smoked salmon to start. But the main courses were the stars of the meal - the sumptuous Sunday roasts. The portions were generous and delicious. We didn’t quite finish everything on the plate (next time we she’ll both request no Yorkshire Puddings - controversial, I know) but we both fancied a dessert. Me especially as it’s rare to find an apple strudel on a dessert menu, and having visited this pub many times over the past twenty five years, their apple strudels are very moreish. The service is always spot-on too. Highly recommended.

The menu was so good it was hard to choose!! The food was delicious for everyone in our group and the staff were welcoming and lovely. Faultless well done!

I would like to thank the staff and manager for being so understanding when we arrived late for our lunch yesterday. Sadly, I got lost and spent over an hour driving around the surrounding country side. I was very grateful for the warm welcome as I was very stressed and very late. Our meal was excellent so our visit was most enjoyable.

Went with friends to celebrate a special birthday. Arrived early and our welcome was great! Our table wasn’t quite ready but they let us wait in the bar area. Afternoon Tea & Prosecco was delicious. Lots of it and you could tell freshly made. They catered for gluten/dairy free diet very well. John was very hospitable as were all the staff. Thank you all.

Had a Sunday lunch today waited 50 minutes no one told us it would take so long arrived cold no apology they reheated it in the microwave. I will not be returning the standards are not the same dont waist your money.

Nice to see the place busy with customers and welcoming real fire. Staff were busy but charming, had starter and main but no room for pudding. Yorkshire puddings impressive, and liked having an individual gravy boat. Only comments were beef was quite well done and I'd specifically requested it pink, and the parsnips could've spent a bit longer in the roasting tin as they were quite hard.
