So, definitely staff were grumpy, their attitude matched the name It was a little bit tough to order desert also Still, dishes were tasty: friend of mine was pleased with pasta and lemon pie, as well as seabass was good. Wine list is simple

Unexpectedly fantastic! The Grumpy Chef is my new favourite place in Seaford. We tried it for the first time this week, we needed coffee and a rest so we sat at an outside table. We weren't expecting anything special but what a pleasant surprise. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I'm lactose and gluten free and found they offer a selection of milk alternatives and gluten free sandwiches. My sandwich and coffee was tasty and we will be back to try the menu. Overall the most impressive thing we're the staff and ambience. An excellent experience especially compared to our usual haunt, a competitor that is still closed.

A wonderful eating establishment. On the menu is a variety of excellent Sea food, sandwiches, burgers and vegetarian dishes. Excellent service, great atmosphere and I highly recommend this restaurant.

I ordered off the menu (as I don’t eat bread). I was worried it would be very average but in fact it was wonderful. So hard to come by when you’re a veggie! My partner’s food was great too.

By far the best meal that we had in Seaford. We ate there on a Saturday night and the food was so good that we ended up having 3 courses each (having planned to have just 1) and enjoyed fantastic service. The restaurant is busy during the day but was not busy when we went for dinner on a Saturday evening in January because everyone is going to the Italian but the food here at The Grumpy Chef is much better.

Very tasteless. We had the prawns with dipping bread. The bread was sliced shop brought. A roll or baguette would have been more suitable. The black pudding and chorizo salad, had no salad in it. The crab linguine was bland, with tinned crab. If you run out of fresh. Take the dish off the menu. I paid £2.50 per small glass of diet coke. Then watched the staff member pour it from a plastic litre bottle. Probably costing just over a quid from lidl. We will not go back there.

We have been fairly regular visitors here over 3 years but sadly it seems to have lost its way in the light of competition from new local eateries. Today's offering of 'tomato soup with pesto' was so disappointing - it looked so watery it looked like dishwater and was totally bland and tastless. It was served without the pesto and upon my asking the waitress where it was she said it was 'optional' despite us having been told it was tomato soup with pesto!! The 'soup' was accompanied by a slice of brown bread cut into two and smothered in butter whether I wanted it or not! No crusty bread then to go with the 'soup' and £6.50 is just a rip off. My partner asked me not to make a fuss about this at the time so perhaps Management will take notice of an unfavourable review about the price and quality of their awful soup!! Btw my partner enjoyed her toasted sandwich for £6.50 BUT her request for some bacon with it cost us an extra £1.50 for just one small rasher!!! Hardly endearing if they want their Customers to return without being Grumpy - we will not be!!!

Great place, but please sort out your lighting electrics. Hide the cables in the walls, some of the cables look worn and the connections don't look great. Also starter portions are too small for the price.

Visited for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Arrived after 10am and luckily there were free tables. The restaurant tab were all very friendly and efficient with our orders taken in good time. I ordered the greedy grumpy full breakfast, which was great, everything well cooked and a massive slab of black pudding, fantastic bacon, decent sausage, even the tomato was cooked well, a rarity in most breakfasts! The only thing I’d improve is to make the black pudding more spicy. 🫚🌶️ Would highly recommend!

Easily one of the best breakfasts I have had in Sussex not necessarily the biggest meal on first inspection but actually just right by the time we had eaten it All. however the Ingredients were top quality and cooked really well.and to be fair very good value for money considering the quality of the food.

Stopped off for a sandwich and coffee lunch. Fish finger sandwich was very tasty. Very popular place as it was quite busy.

Very busy had to sit outside, was disappointed with sandwich small slices of bread, usually get a bit of side salad when ordering a sandwich from other eateries but never got that at grumpy chef

Delicious, quick and great service

Cute and welcoming little cafe on the high street. Went there with both little ones and my husband for lunch. We ordered a salmon sandwich, a prawn sandwich and the mushroom one. They literally came as described, two thick slices of bread, bit of butter and one slice of smoked salmon.. for £6.50. Cokes came straight out of a bottle in a small glass.. no fizz left and for £2.50. Definitely a little steep. We won’t be returning.

If the Grumpy Chef prepared such incredible food, I can only imagine the culinary delights the Happy Chef would create. To be honest, the food was simply amazing. We ordered a burger and a chicken breast, and both dishes were exceptional. The staff were also exceptionally friendly, and the ambience added to the overall enjoyment of our dining experience.

Best breakfast I've had in a long time.

We had a tasty brunch on a quiet Sunday morning. Staff were attentive and nice and the breakfast food was delicious, I had the full greedy options with really did the trick! Others had an egg royale that was also good. Coffees were good quality too.

Neither cheerful not friendly but good food. Although Marie Rose sauce in prawn sandwich about sparce.

Really nice avocado and toast, we asked the waiter and it was made vegan for us which was fab! Warning: A lot of people got turned away as it was quite busy and some tables had been reserved.

Food was cooked well, flavourful and fresh…Varied menu, Friendly staff, food portions were generous, kid-friendly, reasonably priced, bathroom was very clean. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommend!

Service very slow, staff friendly but not attentive. Warm flat small soft drink for £2.50 poured from a plastic bottle. Burger contained the most tasteless patty I have ever eaten. Chips were good.

The food was absolutely amazing, the chicken was perfectly roasted, it was juicy, additionally the mushroom sauce and grilled carrots were a great match. The food was the best I've ever had in England.

Staff are lovely and attentive, The venue has a nice atmosphere and decor. Unfortunately the food doesn’t add up to the price they charge. I know everything has gone up and I totally understand that they have to pass this price on. The cocktail we chose was a pina colada was mostly out of a ready made carton. Unfortunately we had to send it back. From the price point and quality of food just didn’t make the grade.

So good that we went their for a special birthday dinner and had to come back the next day for breakfast. You need to try their cocktails. So delicious and 2 for £12 in the evenings.

Very cute place. We had the chicken burger and the vegan sandwich and both was absolutely delicious! I would have loved to see some more vegan options on the menu (other than breakfast it was only the sandwich) but when I asked they even had a vegan lemon cake and I also spotted vegan milk on th counter (not sure if that was written on the coffee menu) so I think they‘re actually pretty vegan friendly and just have a small menu. Nonetheless I can definitely recommend it for everyone.

Average food; best part were the chips. TBF, the fried cod was cooked well but let down by the thick, tasteless batter.

A delicious lunch right off the main high street. Dog friendly, staff were very helpful. Food was exceptional, good portions and delicious flavours. Faultless experience.

Great menu and friendly staff . I had two dippy eggs with marmite toast . Eggs were perfect and tasty with marmite (love it or hate it ! ) my husband had a full breakfast which he really enjoyed served with local tasty sausage . We highly recommend a visit and we will be going back to try the mussels and fish menu .

Had breakfast here this morning with all the family. 9 of us in total. The service was great, all the food came out together and was tasty and well cooked.

Lovely place, but the size and quality of steaks is dreadful!! When you pay £29 per one steak , you do not expect to have such peace of rubbish, and we bought 2- medium rare and well-done. Half empty place, and we are waiting for small small starter approx 30 min, and for nearly 45 after the starter for a steak.. we nearly ready to leave, when we have our steaks and salad knifes with it served by waitress. So, hope it is help for anyone , absolutely NOT recommend this cafe for anybody.

Not sure if it's supposed to be self service but after we were given a menu and were left sitting at a table outside for quite a while, we had to go in to order. Veggie breakfast was nice but a bit basic (could have done with a veggie sausage perhaps) and the spinach/cooked tomato was quite rubbery and possibly reheated. My friends smashed avo and poached eggs were great though 👌🏼

Really very good calamari and dressed crab, kids had fish and chips only regret is not having the oysters

Fantastic little Bistro/ Cafe. We ate delicious Moules Mariniere garnished with salty Samphire grass served on properly old school heated plates. The Local Long Man bottled Best Bitter is great as well!
