We needed reservations but stopped in a little early and the maitre d' accommodated us. The food was fine but burgers in Scotland are not a match for Texas beef. The views from the windows were magnificent in the evening.

Covid blamed for all shortcomings as has become the new norm but poor service standards, cleanliness and prep are a given minimum expectation when you pay for a 'supposed' high class meal. Booked well in advance and made it clear that one of us was gluten intolerant. Found our booking but had to request a GF menu! Didn't have one so doctored a normal one. Starters were OK for veggies and fish eaters but nothing otherwise. Venison was chewy. Portion of fries missed. Cutlery was cheap, tables sticky, drab atmosphere. Ate here some years ago and really enjoyed it. This experience was therefore very disappointing. Makes me wonder what the rooms are like?

Arrived 3pm in afternoon when out for drive. Stopped for what planned as coffee on hotel terrace and sandwich or cake. Could get to rear terrace as could see no way with wheelchair. Asked in reception and was told had to make way to rear of hotel to bar. Got there and told had to go downstairs to another bar. No food whatsoever including cake or sandwich as kitchen closed. Only drinks and even them only takeaway coffee. Said i wouldnt bother and that it was a disappointing offering on a busy sunny day. Barman waited until i turned corner and shouted if not happy go elsewhere. That was actually great advice.. Rude and pointless but actually right thing to do. Place is not up to standard.. So visitors just drive 3 mins further on and disappointment will be averted and parking a mot easier. Other folks had been complaining about time to get food which is perhaps why they stopped. If so might have been better to say that and this 'poor' review likely would not be here. Oh well.

Last September we had 3 fantastic meals at the Kenmore Hotel, but in June 2021 our experience was totally different. On arrival they had no record of our dinner restaurant, but Rhiannon rescued the situation, but sadly after that everything went downhill. We understood that the menu was much changed, and very much less appealing, through Covid, but this could not excuse the abominable service. We had to wait 15 minutes to get a bottle of wine and order our food - the Cullen Skink was lukewarm, although the liver pattie was very tasty. However after an hour and a quarter we had still not receive our joint main course - cold-- despite other diners who entered the restaurant after us being served their meals. Rhiannon tried to recover the situation when we decided to leave the restaurant, paying for what we had consumed, but blaming Covid for a failure of organisation was not a smart move. WE are staying in Kenmore for another 2 weeks, so may give the Kenmore a chance to redeem themselves, but only if the menu changes to offer more dishes that would attract discerning diners.

I really don’t like writing negative reviews, especially in these difficult times, however the front of house team need a kick up the bum because they’re letting the kitchen down. We booked a table for lunch for 6 adults and a child - I was very clear on this point both when I reserved the table 2 weeks before the event and when I confirmed the booking the evening before as Level 2 Covid restrictions stipulated a maximum of 6 people per table, not including children. When we arrived for lunch at 12.15, the hoover was still out - right in the middle of the restaurant - which my daughter promptly tripped over. We were eventually shown to our tables - plural. When I asked why our family was separated over 2 tables the teenage waiter got flustered and ran off to find the supervisor who, in a very disparaging way, enquired “what madam’s problem was” with the table. I explained that the issue was that our party had been split and asked her to simply push the 2 tables together. She replied that that was not possible as they had a lot of people coming- an argument that no one in our party could follow. When we said we were going to go to a different place if we couldn’t sit together as booked (it was a birthday celebration and we hadn’t seen each other properly in months) she went to get the manager. The manager came over and told us that she hadn’t been informed that we were a party of 6 and a child (not true) and that she had a full restaurant for lunch (including a party of 9 which was not permitted under Covid rules)- which still didn’t explain why the 2 damn tables couldn’t have been pushed together! Eventually, after a comedy-worthy, never ending exchange, the penny seemed to drop and she pushed the two tables together. Job done, we were finally allowed to sit down. We ordered drinks - the wrong order was brought. We ordered food - the wrong order was brought. We asked for the bill - the items on it were wrong. At this point we were all laughing at the level of incompetence because if you didn’t laugh you would cry. The cherry on top was when we went to use the ladies facilities (only 1 cubicle of which was functional) and one of us nearly got knocked out by the toilet roll holder that fell down on the head of the unfortunate party during a most inappropriate time. At this the experience thankfully ended. No apology was forthcoming and the front of house staff were so comically incompetent (manager included) that it seemed they’d never been in a restaurant before. The worst part was that Test and Trace was not carried out on anyone in the restaurant so they are failing to comply with Covid law. This first establishment we’ve been to that has failed to do so. Across the river, their competitors are coping very well and I’m afraid this level of service couldn’t be put down to just a bad day or teething problems. The food was pretty good - compliments to the kitchen - so the front of house staff seriously need to get their act together. Until the reviews improve we certainly won’t be back. The picture attached is from the restaurant - no method was observed, only madness.

It’s not a good feeling writing a negative review ! Hopefully the feedback is a catalyst for change. The food at the Kenmore is good when/if it is eventually served. The staff are polite but the service is poor..When we arrived it was not busy, our order for food and drink taken quickly. Then the waiting began. We had to ask twice before our drinks were served, one of the family was still eating his starter when his main course was put in front of him, as it turned out he was lucky, two of our party didn’t get a main course ,they had made a mess of the food order. The restaurant manager was very apologetic and offered to get the meals but by then the others had finished eating. They did bring us a complimentary drink but that is not the answer. Sorry to be so negative Kenmore but this was a disappointing experience .

The restaurant had absolutely no atmosphere and had a baby grand piano set up on a ridiculous computerised auto play linked to a computer, which the staff could not turn down. We did ask for it to be turned down or turned off as a large part of 9 in the middle of the main dining room next to the piano , with children. It was too loud and absolute torture to endure listening to through what was an overpriced and absolutely awful meal. The service was very slow as terrible. Two of us were sick after eating lunch there. We will never go back. Do not go to the restaurant unless you enjoy poor service and food poisoning.

We were up in Kenmore for a long awaited break postponed from October. Sadly we tried the Kenmore for dinner. The menu is reduced to sandwiches, fish supper, burger (not good). An odd combination of stuff... all served on old scratched table. Weird background music and the huge room was cold. Even the deserts on offer were such old hat. Didn't stay for a,second course. So go to Mains of Taymouth...We wished we had. The waiter was lovely but the fare was very poor. I know it's been hard for the hospitality industry but this isn't good enough.

Been here a good few times but seemed to have taken a bit of a dive. Bar area was empty with fire unlit, even though village was busy with walkers. Ordered Cullen Skink as it's my favourite and had it the day before in The Courtyard restaurant along the road. Soup duly arrived but was not very hot and in the tiniest bowl I have ever seen! Although meant to be accompanied by "crusty bread" we got a couple of slices of cheap supermarket white bread. All a bit crap for £7! When we asked for fire to be lit we were told there was a "problem with the chimney" even though we could see the fire was lit in reception. What few people came in after us, soon drifted away as staff at bar kept disappearing out the back and customers were left hanging around. Just hope this was a bad day but with the prices and size of portions, I get the feeling this is just the way things are there now. Shame.

Expensive for bar food. However we decided to give it another try as we had previously had good bar food here, but this year we were not even able to get even a bar snack and were told by a not very friendly bar man that “we now only serve residents”. We can take a hint and will not be returning in a hurry. It is a shame because it used to have a good atmosphere in the bar and now is very cold and lifeless.

Oh dear - we keep giving the Kenmore restaurant a try because it should be so good given the fantastic views over the river but yet again we were, to put it mildly, underwhelmed. I think it is primarily a management issue and I feel sorry for the staff who have to keep apologising for the numerous shortcomings. Our experience mirrored that of Barolina76 except this was a day over the bank holiday weekend when anyone with ounce of hospitality management experience could have predicted the demand on the kitchen - but if you prioritise the bar over the restaurant it is no surprise that only 3 or 4 tables were occupied despite other establishments being packed. The food was very average for the price (and i suspect not locally sourced) and the wine list (with I would guess a 300% mark up) was clearly pandering to the lowest common denominator - I would suggest ditching your merchant and going to the Coop in Aberfeldy who have a very good selection. Someone needs to take a grip on this place.

Nobody bothers about a meal that's overpriced if you get good service and a good dining experience. Here you get neither. Waiting an hour in a dining room empty, bar 2 tables, sets the scene for something special. Getting some 'bread for the table' entailed 6 hard rolls and no plates. No idea where the crumbs were meant to go. We waited an hour for food. In an environment that screams fine dining but is nothing more than old school hotel grub. When it came the saddle of venison came it was lovely but cold. So cold that only pure hunger made me inhale it. Its been said here that it is soul less. Yes it is. Overpriced and dated. Its a monday night in the middle of a village have no idea why they havent got their act together.

We stopped here after being turned away from Three Lemons in Aberfeldy (not their fault, we just didn't realize we would need a reservation since we ate there twice last year without one). We were a party of 4 and there are only 4-5 tables set up for that many people but, since it was early, we were able to get a table. Beautiful setting, beautiful view and each dish was delicious. 2 orders of steak and ale pies, one mushroom and asparagus pasta, and one Cullen skink. The restaurant is a bit soulless and the service average. The food was small portions and not distinguished - expensive for what it was. The wine list (if there is one - we were not shown it) consisted of a choice of four or five grape varietals with no details or price given. We booked to eat on the last night of our holiday as the village was lovely, and the hotel looked good. The setting is good, with an outside balcony over the river, but the actual restaurant set up is not particularly smart. We ordered drinks, himself asking for cider and was told they had "carling". We said that was normally lager, waitress said definately cider. Ordered, arrived...lager! She was very apologetic, and we were not charged for it but the staff ought to know what the drinks are. Meal of haggis Bon, bons, ham terrine, steak and venison mains was all very good but presentation and chips were a let down. It had obviously been a busy service, and we were eating later, but as other people have commented, breakfast service was being set up around us while we finished our meal.which always makes you feel like an unwelcome straggler. Next day the Taymouth Marina impressed with lunch and wonderful service.

Really good menu without having anything to fancy on it , the Cullen Skink was the best I have tasted (recipe please ) and well worth visiting this restaurant for plus the rest of the meal was also superb especially the Scottish sirloin of beef so tender. Stall were extremely attentive without being intrusive Loved it every morsel.

Boy should we have had dinner at the Waterfront restaurant. Dinner at the Grill room of the Kenmore Hotel was not a nice experience. I had ordered a beef/venison pie and had thought that the pastry would encase the meet. The pastry , instead, was put separately on top of the meat, and it must have been from an industrial or supermarket package, as it was neither flakey nor crispy but just lukewarm and a bit leathery. The quality of the meat was also very debatable. My wife had lamb, and when she told the waitress that her lambchops were done more than medium (what she had asked for), the waitress took the kitchen back to the kitchen, only to come back with the remark that the chef had said that this was his idea of lambchops done "medium". It was just about the dumbest explanation I ever heard in a restaurant. From there on, we mainly laughed. My wife was asked whether she would like another dish and she declined, so the lamb chops were taken back to where they came from. I instead concentrated on the wine......

We ate at the Kenmore twice during our stay, Once in the Grill room once in the Bar. We were a group of ten. The Service in the restaurant was very slow probably because there was only one member of staff. A group from a different table couldn't wait and got up and left. The food however was excellent so much so we came back when some of our family had returned to Glasgow. This time we ate in the bar and again the food was excellent and the bar staff were really nice and friendly. The female member is very informative about the single Malts on offer so we got on really well

This place has a stunning location, however it is badly let down by the food. We only had burgers and they were dry and had no taste. How can a place not cook a burger properly. Height of summer and we were the only patrons in restaurant. It is also expensive for what you get - there is far better places nearby.

Excllent mix of food on the menu well served with pleasant staff. Ideal for a relaxing view of the river and in summer the opportunity to eat outside I guess - we visited in March so bit limited.

My husband said trying to book a table here was like Mission Impossible! The hotel doesn't care much for customer service and relies on trade from unwitting tourists. We dined here with our 2 daughters and although the waiter was friendly he couldn't understand what we were saying (we are Scottish dining in a Scottish hotel). The starters were pretty good - we had haggis/neeps/tatties; pea soup and Cullen skink - but my daughter's starter of bruschetta was some toasted bread with oil, served with a side salad. Poor. Main courses were good if a little on the light side, but our daughters' meals were not served with peas as they should be but salad instead. Not a big deal but wish they'd said. We all ordered dessert (unusual for hubby and myself) because we were still hungry. They were fine if a little "fake" tasting - like it came from a packet. Ice cream was good though. When the bill came we paid up, only to be told 5 mins later that they got the bill wrong and we needed to pay another £15 - a bit annoying. The total bill came just shy of £140 which was our most expensive meal the whole holiday even though we spent the first week in London. We've been told that the Kenmore Club is good so we'll try there instead of this hotel on our last night.

We visited Kenmore hotel grill room yesterday Sunday lunchtime. If I could give this restaurant zero, I would. It was a disaster from start to finish. There was 1 table occupied when we arrived who were already eating. We explained to the waitress as soon as we sat down that we only had an hour and asked if she could get our starter order of haggis scotch egg into the kitchen while we looked at the main courses. She wrote down the order and disappeared. 5 minutes later a waiter arrives and takes our main course orders and we tell him we have already ordered a starter with the waitress. He disappears. 25 minutes after ordering the starter we are wondering where our food is. No one has been up to us during this time. I go over to the bar to ask the waiter where the starter is and he looks surprised. A visit to the kitchen and a stressed looking waitress confirms that the starter hasn't been ordered. So we say, no problem but our time is running out, please bring everything together.Another 10 minutes passes and Start Horton the restaurant manager appears. We ask him if our food is on the way. He goes and checks and says that the food is being plated up and that we should have expected to wait at least half an hour because the kitchen is dealing with tables in the bar ( around 12 covers occupied! I hate to think how they cope if the restaurant fills up) and also the food is freshly prepared to order.Another 10 minutes passes and eventually our freshly prepared food arrives! Well where do I start. Dried up ravioli on my partners meal, my parsley risotto was like overcooked rice pudding with no flavour and no parsley. The cockle jus was absent of cockles and had been substituted with mussels, stuck in a gravy that looked like it had been grabbed from the Sunday roast. The Hake was dry on the bottom and the skin was soggy. Over cooked carrots, tasteless and luke warm. We both agreed that if we had time to eat elsewhere we would have sent the food back. In fact I was tempted to go hungry it was so bad. The only dish that was worth mentioning was the haggis scotch egg which bizarrely was accompanied by some lettuce and anchovies. As soon as we were given our food, we asked for the bill. Of course it didn't come. We headed over to the bar where we were met by the surly Stuart and explained that the meal was very poor. He clearly was not interested and said oh let me just put this order into the kitchen before I do your bill.No apology, no compensation, little interest or concern that he was keeping is waiting again. To summarise; staff who lacked communication skills, poor food, outdated decor, lack of ambience and over priced. With a manager who doesn't seem to care, I just can't see a future for this restaurant even if they get by on the passing tourist trade.

We recently had dinner at the Grill Room at the Kenmore Scotland. I had the Pan seared breast of local pheasant, Haggis Croquette, potato and sweet clap shot and Monkey & Ale Pie with broccolini. It was all delicious! Reservations were recommended but didn't seem to be needed. I would go back for a dinner, any time.

We booked our evening meal by dropping in at lunchtime. The staff apologised that we could not see the restaurant at that point as it was full with a tourist coach load, but we were able to peruse the menu and book a table that night. On returning at night, the restaurant was again full, but enough staff on to ensure good service.A good choice on the menu, albeit priced at the higher end of our expectations, the ambience of the room more than made up for this with a good atmosphere. With the Grill Room built as a glass-walled extension at the rear of the hotel, there are good views over the River Tay as it flows out of Loch Tay.We enjoyed our meals, with the venison main course a very good plateful. However, we saw something we have never witnessed before in a restaurant, when two different waiters both dropped a main course on to the floor over the course of the night - just glad it wasn't ours!

Ordered it once a few years ago and now every time we are in Kenmore we go back for the same. Can't find anywhere that comes close...not even the places that are supposed to have won "best in the UK". Have tried a few of the other dishes, all very nice but for us the fish stands out. Very nice setting with the glass windows overlooking the river and Loch Tay.

Had lunch with friends at their grill restaurant overlooking the Tay, great scenery views and impressive food to go with it. I had their "catch of the day" or fish and chips, the batter was one of the lightest I've had in years and trust me I eat a lot of fish! Enjoyed it so much I went back for dinner the next day with my husband and and tried their smoked salmon and crab salad, absolutely delicious. Service was very friendly and attentive too, I thoroughly recommend it if you are in the area (we were staying at the Mains of Taymouth lodges) and we'll be visiting again very soon.

Ate dinner here , very expensive for portion size, I ordered fish and chips and although I thought 14.99 was rather expensive I thought aww well it is the price and we couldn't get in anywhere else at short notice , when it came it was a tiny square bit fish on top of mushy peas and a bucket of chips and half a lemon , we did laugh at that , lemon was bigger than fish , will not be eating there again when in Kenmore .

Had dinner at The Grill whilst staying in Aberfeldy. It was lovely, we had the smoked salmon soup to start and venison and steak and ale pie for mains. The only criticism was, the steak and ale pie was served on a wooden block rather than a plate! The steak pie itself was in a dish but, the potatoes and veg were on the block, wooden blocks are ok if your having a burger but not any other kind of meal! The vie when having dinner is lovely too.

My family and I had passed through Kenmore to head to a cottage for the weekend. On way back home I had suggested to stop at the Kenmore hotel for a quick coffee and a snack. When we got there it was a beautiful day, we pulled a couple benches together and sat (8 adults). Each couple went to the bar ordered a drink and a few of us decided a portion of onion rings and chips was needed. First order was chips and onion rings (£6) next order was skinny fries (£3), next order 2 portions of chips and one onion rings (£9). All staff were pleasant as we ordered. We waited 10 minutes and and 2 plates chips and onion rings came to the table. Handed to the first two that had ordered. After another 10 minutes I called the staff over and mentioned we were still waiting on 1 skinny fries, 2 chips and 1 onion rings. The woman went checked and came back and said that was it. Now admittedly it was a larger portion than we expected but no one mentioned that was for the whole table nor did they take out any side plates for us to share and for £15 of chips that was just ludicrous. I suggested that it was 3 separate orders and that if we had ordered a few burgers they wouldn't have put all in the one plate? I got the worst attitude from the server. Eventually after speaking to them the server did sort the order but when you pay £15 and £6 for 1 small bowl of chips and onion rings you do tend to question it? If the server had come and explained at the start things might have been different but to get a reply of 'here's your chips sorry I "swear word" up' that is totally unacceptable for a hotel which is meant to be a tourist go to place?!?!? So definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone!!! overpriced, unwelcoming and rude staff! Pity it's on the main route for tourists, leave Scotland with a bad name!

We were lucky enough to get a table overlooking the bridge and River Tay. A great view and the food matched it. Salmon starter with steak and pheasant as main courses. Kids had mini sliders with chicken and burger. All dishes were delicious and well presented. The service was great as well and it was the best meal we had on our mini tour of Scotland. Highly recommended.

We visited for a late lunch and sat outside as the weather was good. The choices were fine, but very expensive, £15 for a very nice, but standard sized burger with chips. The mushroom soup was also good, but nearly £6 for a small bowl and two very small slices of bread. I suppose you get what you pay for, but it was very expensive for a lunch.

We were guests in the hotel. Food was delicious, beautiful views over the river and very friendly and professional staff. Breakfast lovely (only criticism is the haggis was so so greasy neither of us could eat it) for dinner the Scallops and venison were seriously good - the catch of the day was huge and very tasty. Will definitely dine here when staying or passing through Kenmore again.

Booked an afternoon tea for my wife and I and we were not disappointed. Absolutely amazing service and great food. Clear explanation of a range of teas and what was included in the package. Home made savouries and sandwiches were first class. Could not eat all the cakes and they kindly put them in a box to take home. A lovely treat. Excellent staff , service and food. You must visit this place to appreciate the hospitality and food.

Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...

We had the best meal ever at The Taybank in Dunkeld. After having terrible service at another place in town where we ended up leaving, we made it to the taybank just before the restaurant closed and they were great about fitting us in for dinner. Excellent service. Excellent food! Can’t wait to go back!
