The Griffin in Newham

Fantastic pub . We’ve had a private function there today . Amazing hot/ cold buffet . Nothing was too much trouble .

The restaurant was full. We were found a table and then seated afterwards. We felt welcomed straight away. We ate a beef stew with homemade spazels, fish and chips and a children's menu burger. We had a blast. And for dessert, I asked for a portion of pudding for 2, I had the very pleasant surprise that it was served on 2 plates. I found this generous and thoughtful. The desserts are definitely worth the detour, well done to the cooks! We greatly enjoyed our shared moment. Thank you very much.

OMG. Having been to many places for the perfect burger we've finally found it. We regularly go to The Griffin for Sunday lunch - and garlic prawns for mid-week lunches - but I had never had a burger. Not only was this one perfectly cooked, in a great bun, but there were loads of possible extras - at no extra cost!

First time visiting for us very very impressed we had roast dinner which was amazing . The roast potatoes were as good as I cook at home . Really impressed we will definitely be back ,

The perfect place for a pre-match pint, even with the club moving away from Griffin Park. Gary cooks a great sausage and chili in the beer garden. The pub oozes with character and history. A highlight of my trip over from the States. Eager to return one day.

The Griffin in Brentford offers a cosy atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed meal. The food portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable, which is a plus. However, while the ambiance and affordability are commendable, the overall experience could be improved with more diverse menu options or elevated culinary offerings. They also have some Boardgames and you can watch football.

What a lovely little gem in Brentford, visiting for football and didn't know what to expect popping into a "local". Very welcoming atmosphere

It’s a lovely place in Brentford. We went there for Sunday roast and it didn’t disappoint. Being a vegetarian I had their Nut roast which was really good. Loved the gravy it was yummm could have had it as a soup hehe. Other half had beef roast and he loved it too. Food, service, ambiance, vibe was all superb. Defo recommend. And would visit again.

This is a long time coming, I've been meaning to write a review for some time now. We walked over to The Griffen from Kew Gardens. This totally felt like the home, local, and go-to spot. They had multiple "football" games on display (sorry, I am from America). We sat down and placed our orders. Now I will say the fish and chips at the Griffin were my absolute favorite in England. I totally recommend the veggies as well, I literally asked our hostess to let me complement the chef. Everything was so tasteful, fresh and reminded me of my nannies' cooking (my mom's side was from London). Hey, The Griffin, I know you probably don't recall the California guy that came walking in with his Chinese wife back in April.... But we miss your cooking already, thanks for the amazing meal.

Great Christmas Meal, loads of drink food was very reasonably price. Very warm welcome.

We always have a fantastic time at the Griffin - and our annual Xmas jumper party is the highlight of our year! The staff go above and beyond, the food is utterly incredible and the atmosphere gorgeous. This is definitely our favourite pub! Thank you Griffin Team!

Well!!! Went to the Griffin for the Sunday roast with family hmmmm not worth the money , food ( meats) beef so under cooked even the roast pork was still red in center and edge. Roast potatoes the lack of !! We’re heavily salted to try and crisp them up but forgot to cook spuds first ( still raw in center) V g was ok then you can’t really mess that up. Now for the so called gravy , already poured on plate and tbh it was the consistency of tap water , all food was swimming in it. VERY DISAPPOINTED with the Sunday Roast. Now the only good things was a the server was great considering and a proper ice cold Guinness. YET another Brentford eatery which is not worth the paper it’s written on .

This was the comment by my boyfriend at the end of yet another perfect Sunday lunch. We live in Chiswick but have struggled to find a local pub or restaurant that matches The Griffin, so we travel the couple of miles to this gem in Brentford. Always enjoyable, not just for Sunday lunch

Visiting from Scotland to see our son. Wanted to take him for Sunday Lunch before we headed home. Joined Brentford friends on FB and the Griffin was recommended. Decided to give it a go and it definitely did not disappoint. Had the meat feast roast, slice of beef, lamb and pork. Meat (apart from pork) served medium rare just as we had asked for it. All trimmings and gravy, lush! And also the young girl serving was very polite and smiley. A real local pub. Made outsiders feel welcome.

As a keen supporter of old and classic pub it breaks my heart a bit to rate The Griffin as a 3/5. It’s been a classic over the years as one of the corner pubs of Griffin Park. Obviously times change and it’s a bit emptier now and lacks a bit of atmosphere. No doubt after a Brentford game the regulars still come in as once upon a time I did. The service was friendly enough, but a pint of Hofmeister came in at £7 for a pint. Really? In a backstreet pub in Brentford? I’ve had the same pint in central London recently for £6.50 and Sunbury even cheaper. One pint was enough at that price and thankfully the beers at the New Inn were much more reasonable and that is also a local classic. Sadly I’ve called time at The Griffin now. It was fun whilst it lasted.

Visited last Saturday to celebrate friends' 50th wedding anniversary. Have to say this pubs an absolute Belter. The staff, especially the young lady behind the bar, were superb. The food was simply first class and a Great family friendly atmosphere. Unlikely, we will visit again as we live over 200 miles away. However, if we are ever in the area, we will definitely be back. Bravo All concerned...5 Stars All the Way !!

A rare gem on London is this one ❤️ The Griffin is a proper local. Warm and cosy, great food, the best Guiness for miles and fab staff. It's one of the original 4 corner pubs of Griffin Park andbyas real character. A proper London boozer. Class 👍

What a fantastic pub, the food is amazing, we had the Haggis samosas, the salt and pepper squid, and the burger, absolutely faultless. The staff here are so attentive. The whole vibe is fantastic. Give the place a try yo won't be disappointed at all. Thank you guys it was pleasure to be here.

Love this pub. Although we're not avid football fans we visit regularly for their delicious food and very friendly service. Great veggie options, good selection of beers on tap, and whoever is behind the bar is always very friendly, helpful and personable. Cute pub cat as well - bonus :) PS. try their french onion soup, it's to die for.

This is more than a simple pub (though it’s a quite good one for drink, conversation and football). What I love most here is the unexpected and creatively excellent food AND the friendly “vibe” that Gerhard and Clare offer to all. It’s a family-place but one where the loyal followers also welcome others. Now while I wish their peas were mushy, the fish was huge and sweet! So the Fish n Chips were top notch. But the Sunday Roast was outstanding!!! (Hungry just looking at the pic to post). As well, who in their right might would dream of making Haggis Samosas?? (The answer is Gerhard and my goodness they were creamy and delish- who knew!!!)

This local pub is consistently good. The food is amazing - our party on Sunday had faggots, a small plate of Sunday roast beef with all the trimmings and two monkfish. Sometimes we pop in for a snack such as the garlic prawns. There is always a welcome in a pub which has retained its character whilst providing amazing food - so unusual in a public house

Totally amazing. We were expecting the usual 'pub' food. This was not the case. We only went two nights running and I had the same meal each time. The quality of the food was excellent, the menu very good, wine excellent. This is a pub full of the local people, but everyone was welcoming and we felt very appreciated by staff and fellow customers. We ate inside the 'pub' area but there seemed to be a larger eating area at the back. The lady serving us each night was delightful, funny and attentive, she kept us up to date with our food and ready with the next bottle of wine. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend this pub for tourists, but you will have to book a table well in advance it is so popular.

Such a lovely place to spend a relaxed evening with friends in a pub - totally recommend. Especially super nice and friendly server & for all who needs to eat gluten-free or even have celiac: absolutely no problem here! Looking forward to next time!

Great pub. Visited on a Saturday before a Rugby game intending to stay for a quick drink but service so good we stayed until just before kickoff. Had a Roast Beef & Horseradish sandwich that was amazing & would definitely recommend

Excellent Sunday roast, very good service I took a beef roast, my son a lamb roast Both were delicious with a lot of gravy and a very good Yorkshire pudding The vegetables at side also very tasty As dessert we had cheesecake which was served with whipped cream, strawberries and berries The service was great. Sabine was really helpful and nice Today we came here by coincidence, but for sure we will come back

We decided to go to The Griffin in search of a good Sunday roast Well we hit the jackpot The service was perfect The pub is like an oasis away from any hipster fakery run by a family An open fire next to our table was perfect The food Well the half chicken was cooked to perfection. Crispy skin and succulent meat The sides of cauliflower cheese broccoli and carrots were served sl dente full of flavour and texture The home made stuffing was spot on As were the two most important parts of a roast the gravy and roast potatoes Washed down by a pint and a half of Fullers London Pride beer My wife had pork belly which had the meat falling off of the bone she love it I have certainly found my go to and then some for a Sunday roast

Love this pub and have eaten there a couple of times. Our recent visit was not as epic as the previous. I chose a nut roast which was not so tasty and just thought overall it could have been better. Fantastic pub though - real London pub feel and probably the most efficient landlady I've come across.

In the area on business and searched for a local pub for the evening. Wow, this place is spot on and home from home. Lovely welcome, the owners couldn’t be friendlier or do enough for us. Good proper cider on draught and the food was amazing, can’t recommend the sausage and mash more highly. What a great , proper old school pub. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere. Had Sunday lunch which was delicious, piping hot and served with a smile. Great menu and everything looked top class. I had the lamb, cooked to order. The bar staff were welcoming and attentive. The locals were friendly and chatty. Can't recommend highly enough. Loved it .

I have just eaten with my wife and her friend here in their lovely intimate rear garden area The service was faultless even down to a ginger beer being customised with angostura bitters and several slices of fresh lime for my non alcoholic self ( taking a break) The starter of butterfly king prawns and focaccia was the best I’ve had anywhere The chicken Ceasar Salad was spot on My wife had a gigantic hot dog Our friend the home made fish burger All faultless a west London gem Thanks guys
