The Sunday roast is exceptional. The service, 10 out of 10. Those biscoff doughnuts were the icing on the cake! Hands down, best roast dinner ever.

We popped in for a relaxing drink and possibly some food. The bar team was great ,very friendly, and helpful. Quickly realised that a party of four in the window table was very noisy, rude, and possibly one had had too much. A family with grankids clearly was unhappy and left , and we followed shortly afterwards. I'm not sure what the staff can do, but someone should have asked them to quieten down .

Booked in advance and were placed on a tiny table by the door with insufficient space. Rude and drunk locals on the next table wouldn't move a muscle to create any space (admittedly the clientele are not the pub's fault). Waited at the bar for 10 minutes and were ignored by the staff until we asked if there was anybody serving (despite there being 2 or 3 people behind the bar avoiding eye contact with customers). Ladies toilet disgusting: water dripping through the ceiling. Do not go here.

I was very unimpressed to discover that I was unable to eat any of their Sunday roasts, as they all contained mustard (which I am allergic to). It transpires that the chef apparently uses gravy powder that contains mustard (who knew, as have never experienced this ever before). The manager was, in fairness, very helpful and found out what part of the roast contained mustard to try and solve the issue and as a result, I was offered vegetarian gravy. Unfortunately this was absolutely tasteless and ruined what should have been a lovely Sunday roast beef (my friends who all had the normal gravy stated their’s was lovely). As a result, it soured my lunch and I will be reluctant to eat there again (unless they change the gravy powder).

Staff really friendly we came for the £10 two course lunch .A choice of three mains and two deserts apparently this menu changes daily .Got to say so impressed we had hake in breadcrumbs chips and salad and quiche salad and new pots for the money a good portion and great quality, desert was a choice of bread pudding with vanilla custard or cheese cake both very moorish. Total £22.40 including a service charge. Great value service was amazing definitely recommend and return cannot believe how they serve this quality for the money

I had high hopes for The Greyhound (Kew) but felt a little disappointed upon leaving. We came for Sunday dinner for my birthday (me and my 2 children). We booked for 16:30 and arrived at 15:55 but said we were happy to wait. At 16:40 I had to remind the staff we were still waiting and the reply was “oh we didn’t think you wanted your table anymore we thought you were going to sit at the bar”. I’m not sure why this was presumed - and even still we weren’t approached by any staff in that time to check on us/see if we wanted drinks or anything while we were waiting. I also found it a bit silly for them to say that as my children are 10 and 4 and the seating at the bar is inappropriate for younger children (in my opinion). We eventually got sat upstairs and I ordered the chicken roast and my children both got the breaded chicken and fries. We waited over an hour for the food and my children were starving as we’d been at Kew Gardens all day. The food wasn’t even that warm when we got it. Although my roast tasted lovely, I just felt like it wasn’t value for money as there was barely anything on the plate. The roast was £21 alone and I feel like you can definitely get more for your money elsewhere (see photo). The amount of chicken was tiny and the potatoes could’ve been cooked longer. £65 for a meal we waited ages for and wasn’t that happy with was a bit disappointing. Possibly a big understaffing issue? The waiter we eventually got once seated was brilliant and couldn’t fault him but it was clear he was run off of his feet.

Today we visited the greyhound pub in Chiswick and whilst the food looked great from afar - the food sadly took so long we never got to taste it. As the minutes stretched into over an hour, we found ourselves repeatedly inquiring about our drinks, which had mysteriously gone missing. Regrettably, the staff failed to provide any updates on the status of our food, ultimately prompting us to express our intention to leave. This dining experience was marred by the unfortunate combination of excruciatingly slow service and, in some instances, disrespectful behavior from the staff. It's sad, as we had eagerly looked forward to enjoying the food.

The place was empty on Saturday afternoon. Food was ok and service too (before the bill came). The thing to be noted is that they advertise a special deal (during rugby games) but you end up paying the full price. While asked, the answer was that I should have ordered “a special deal burger” instead of the normal burger… it just doesn’t make any sense. If you advertise something to get customers in, please don’t try to trick them.

Food okeyish but very overpriced, they offer a Bakewell tart as a dessert, but what you get is nothing like a Bakewell tart, asked the waiter to explain what their Bakewell tart was, he was very rude and dismissive. To top it all they charge a 12% service charge which according to their menu is optional. When we questioned it we were informed that it is included unless to tell them .

Very limited options on lunch specials so not worth going for that. Regretted going, shame as had a overseas guest with us. Food mediocre for prices. Won’t be going again (and I’m local)

It may be understandable in the current circumstances for venues to prefer parties of six over parties of three, but they should be upfront about keeping smaller numbers of people in a queue for weeks until they see if they can fill their tables with larger groups. On 12 April I made a request on their booking system for a table for three for lunch on 9 May. It clearly states that until you hear back from them your table isn’t secured. I didn’t hear back so assumed the request hadn’t gone through. I tried again. Then on 1 May I receive an apologetic email (to both attempted reservations) asking if I would still like the table. I replied immediately with a yes. Job done I thought. At 9.20pm on 7 May I am told there are no tables available but I could go on a waiting list or get a take away because the weather forecast wasn’t great! As I said, I appreciate times have been and continue to be tough, but they should be open with potential customers about how they are operating their booking system. Small groups and couples are not welcome at the moment.

I had lunch at this restaurant today and the food was very nice, the steak one of the best I had in a long while. The staff was friendly and caring, however no one in the staff was wearing a face mask which I found dangerous and irresponsible. Given the nice, warm day, all the guests (with one exception) were sitting in the restaurant garden, however all waiting staff were handling food and drinks and serving at the tables without wearing any protection, which, in the middle of a pandemic, is inesplicabile and unacceptable. In any other restaurant where I have been recently, the staff was wearing face masks or face shields.

Having had great takeaway experience during lockdown, we decided to eat out at the Greyhound under the government’s Eat Out scheme. The outside ambience was good and the welcome from the Manager was warm and enthusiastic but that’s the high point of this review. The menu looked interesting if a bit on the pricey side. Despite only three other tables ordering food, we waited 1 hour 10 minutes for an underwhelming Kofta (soggy pitta, two kids burgers as excuse for lamb koftas and half a plate of lettuce) and equally bland Caesar salad. There was no communication from the waitress - no apology for the delay nor any explanation - and other than one ‘how is your food?’ , no customer service whatsoever. Can’t comment on the desserts as unusually for this family, we decided to bail out at the main course stage. Rishi Sunak’s Eat Out discount softened some of the disappointment, but still the most disappointing meal we’ve had for a long time. Sorry but we won’t be eating out to help out the Greyhound anytime soon. Shame.

My partner and I first visited The Greyhound five years ago. We liked it so much we returned last night for our fifth anniversary. The staff are wonderful, charming, helpful and polite. The manager, I assume it was the manager, happily changed our mojitos, which were pretty lacking any taste first time round, plus the soda water was flat. Our starters of prawns and calamari, were deep fried, and very average for £9. My main was the falafel burger, the only choice for a vegetarian. It was mushy and tasteless. If I had closed my eyes, I wouldn’t have had a clue what I was eating! The chips, however, were wonderful. My partners meat burger was very average. The garden is great and the booths fab to have an intimate chat. But the food? Forget it!

Spent a wonderful Sunday afternoon in the garden of the Greyhound in Kew. One of the best pubs in the area, we booked a table in the garden for Sunday lunch. Although the start of our trip didn't start too well because of the wait time to be shown our table, once seated the service level was fantastic. Our waitress, although on her own in the garden, was great. She checked to ensure we were ok with using the app and seemed to be very COVID alert. We ordered the Sunday Lunch sharing board which was fantastic and great value for money. Throughout our visit, the waitress on duty showed great customer service, made us feel very relaxed and welcome, with a very friendly and happy manner (even though she was wearing a mask!). This was our first meal out since pubs have reopened during the Covid 19 pandemic. We were unsure about venturing for a meal out so I did some research on the pubs in the area which were clear on their social distancing rules and The Greyhound in Kew has organised good some good arrangements. Firstly you order your food from the app called Round. You’ll need to register on it. You can phone ahead and order over the phone as it can be busy in the kitchen at times but you’ll need to download the Round app to process your order and pay via the app when you get there. To save time I’d advise downloading the app beforehand. We booked a table for 3 in their garden. It was a hot day so we were grateful for the parasol. There are several pods on the side of the garden that seated up to 6 - 8 people that looked cool and comfortable but they were all booked up. We enjoyed a Delicious Sunday Roast - I recommend the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with their bundle of vegetables with a large glass of Malbec. My friends had the roast chicken and slow roast pork which they said was lovely. The social distancing was good. The tables are well placed apart. Our bubble of 3 were not cramped in our table. The waiters and waitresses wore masks and aprons and only came to the table to deliver the drinks and food but kept their distance. There was a one way system in place and we all felt very safe. There is an airy upstairs dining room with windows that open wide if it’s cold/wet but the pods in the garden will protect you from rain and they have heaters for the garden if needed. Recommend this pub and restaurant after a visit to Kew Gardens who have a timed ticket system.

My partner and I visited this pub yesterday (Sunday 12th July) for a Sunday roast - our first meal out post-lockdown! Unfortunately, we were left disappointed with the food and a little concerned with their COVID secure measures. As we sat at our (pre-booked) table, we realised that it hadn't been cleaned and there were bits of food on the table from the previous booking. This would be completely unacceptable in a pre-COVID world but even more so now. I can't understand why this hadn't been done when I'd like to think staff would have been cleaning tables before we went into lockdown. To make matters worse, we overheard another 2 tables talking about how their tables hadn't been cleaned before they had sat down either. However, when we (eventually) managed to flag down a member of staff they were apologetic and cleaned our table straightaway. We ordered and paid contactless through the app which was convenient but we were sad to see that there were no bottled drinks on offer. We were both desperate for a cold fruit cider but there were no bottled drinks on the menu whatsoever (not even Corona or similar). Is this because bottled drinks are higher risk? Although I can't see the difference between a bottle and a glass - they're being touched either way.The meal itself was also fairly disappointing. Whilst the meat on our roast was lovely (we had beef and lamb) the portion size wasn't what we'd expect for meals approx. £17 each and I'm sure the absolutely massive plate it was served on didn't help! We each only had 2 small roast potatoes on our plate with 1 parsnip, 2 tiny carrot spears along with a little cabbage, cauliflower cheese and a Yorkshire pudding. Although, we were brought more gravy when we asked for it. Our desserts were also fairly poor. My partner's hot chocolate brownie was extremely dry and more like a cake than brownie and my sticky toffee pudding was fairly bitter/burnt in taste.Having said that, it was lovely to be able to eat in the garden in the sunshine where there was lots of space. Maybe their regular lunch and dinner menu is better and more value for money?

Going back for lunch recently, I was very disappointed to see how the quality of the food and the service had deteriorated. The kitchen was closed for a period of time due to poor hygiene which made me reluctant to return. However I did return and the food was appalling- the burger was dry, came without most of the accompaniments it was meant to have and to be honest I have had better fast food. This is a burger at £15 pounds. The manager did ask if the food was okay at the beginning and initially I says yes before I’d realised the burger was terrible. The response after was argumentative when I tried to give feedback. The service was excellent and it’s still nice pub for drinks but will not be coming back for food and do not recommend.

We were a group of 5 visiting for Sunday lunch. We have visited before and have enjoyed excellent lunches. When we arrived the menus and drinks orders were taken very promptly. However we waited well over 20 minutes to give our food order and that was with prompting to the waiter. It seemed they were trying to ignore us when we were trying to attract their attention to take our order. We then waited another 30 minutes or so for our order to arrive. When we asked where our food was, there was little apology and were told the kitchen is very busy.Eventually when the food arrived it was over 50 minutes since we arrived at the pub. 2 of us had the pork roast which was excellent and delicious. I had the veg roast along with my daughter. Mine was OK but only lukewarm. I could not be bothered to send it back as I was so hungry by this stage. My other daughter had the burger which was very good apparently. We did mention our concerns about the service as we finished our food and was offered a round of drinks. This was a strange offer at the end of the meal especially as non of us were drinking alcohol. We had 1 dessert and coffees. They came in reasonable time but could have been more prompt especially after our recent comments to the staff. When the bill came there was no discounts offered despite our experience and service had been added. We deducted the service as we would have expected a token discount.Overall we were quite disappointed with our experience at the Greyhound. We understand they were busy but we would expect a more understanding and apologetic attitude from the staff who seemed to have little concern at least initially. If they were so busy and unable to cope they should not book so many customers. If they had offered free desserts or a similar token to acknowledge our experience we would have come away with a much better attitude about experience. On the plus side the pork roast and burger were excellent.

A pint of cloudy Thatchers cider went down well, but does it really take 30 minutes to make corned beef hash topped with a poached egg, especially when there was only about a dozen customers and not all were eating? I have to admit when it finally arrived it was very tasty, but the plate was hotter than the food and it was a bit long on potatoes and short on corned beef.

We headed her for a Sunday roast for an early meal at 5.30pm. We placed our order quickly but waited over an hour for our meal. We checked twice that food was coming but it never came. Eventually the manager told us the food wasn’t coming so we left. He charged us for the drink we had while we waited, of course! Mistakes happen, but it’s how you deal with them that matters....

So we live locally and have been to The Greyhound a number of times -they always do the most fabulous Sunday Roast..... Canadian Thanksgiving was coming up and we were hosting a horde of Canadians; the thought of all that cooking didn't turn us on, so we rang The Greyhound and asked whether they would do a Turkey Thanksgiving for all our friends ( 15 in total). Turkey is not one of their normal meats chicken, Beef, Pork and Lamb are as well as a vegetarian roast ( I mean why bother!!), but it WAS NO TROUBLE at all from the gang at The greyhound. The evening was an absolute sensation, the service was impeccable, they managed us rowdy lot with a smile and it was amazing value. YOU HAVE TO GO THERE!!!!!!

I’ve had lunch here a number of times with my family over the years and it’s always been decent. Today however, not so much.. Waiting times aside (for the mains), to my disbelief and shock the kitchen served a piece of ribeye steak which had decayed - ie the meat had started to ferment ahead of being prepared (very clear by both smell and taste, to which the waitress attested). I have no idea how this is a possibility, unless the chef pays no attention to his produce... The Egg Benedict was cooked right through (almost hard boiled) - took the kitchen 20 minutes to get a new plate on the table although the process of poaching two eggs, heating a muffins and frying ham is quite swift. Whitty experience. The management did not speak with us (the waitress was horrified) and only removed the cost of the frankly putrid inedible meat from the bill. Sad. If management would have at least sought to have a conversation to explain I would have tried to bury this as an exceptional - albeit unpleasant event. Their lack of seeking to address simply tells me that they didn’t have the courage to talk as their handling of produce would have made that a very uncomfortable conversation. This used to be a place that we frequented with pleasure. But not anymore.

We wanted a quiet meal in the garden but were shocked to see dogs sitting on chairs, slobbering over tables, a dog constantly barking behind me and to cap it all, the dog sitting on the chair behind me ended up slobbering on my handbag, which was hanging on the back of my chair.

We were visiting Kew Gardens all day and as food is expensive on site we decided to come out and go to a pub for a meal before we went back to Kew for the evening exhibition (Chihuly). The Greyhound was very good and we had a very relaxed and pleasant evening meal sitting outside at the back of the pub in their garden area.

Well worth a visit. We came after a long day at Kew Gardens with 2 adults and 3 kids. Book ahead for a space in the garden. Good service, really nice food for a pub and wasnt cheap but guess you pay a little more for decent quality which was worth it. Really good choice.

Great pub & have been here hundreds of times. Still good food and service, however, they really need to re-think their policy on having dogs in the pub or garden out the back........... from a hygiene perspecitve, you really don't want to see dogs sitting on seats at tables where people are eating, not do you want your handbag being licked all over by a dog - nor their barking every five mins! Come on guys, this is a place to eat & drink - why do people have to bring their dogs to pubs and why do you allow them??

Comfortable pub and covered garden, good for all party sizes including children. Back entrance with access to Thames River and Kew boat dock. Helpful and polite staff. As a veggie I am normally sceptical of falafel burgers (and veggie burgers in general), but this really was a delicious burger! My Mum had the normal burger which she really enjoyed - and cooked the way she asked. Although this pub is on the pricey side, for the location and food quality I really do think its justified. Would definitely recommend. Only downside was the fact we felt a little rushed out by the end of our meal.

What an absolutely perfect final stop in Kew after a day wandering around Kew gardens and Kew Palace! Only 5 minutes walk from the Botanical Gardens, this is a cosy, beautifully presented pub, with welcoming, warm service and great food. There is an upstairs area, which on the day I visited was booked for private function, and lovely garden which was similarly booked out (which is a bit if a shame on such beautiful summer day). Full of locals, a game on TV, with a bay window view to the park, I ordered fish and chips, and waited for it nervously (as these days it's a dying art, and what one often gets is oily mess). THE best fish and chips I have had in England for quite some years! Fantastic chips, crispy outside, creamy inside, not oily at all, and the best light, not doughy, crispy fish. It was also served with fresh, beautifully seasoned salad, yummi tiny bowl of mushy peas, tartare sauce. Semi-dry cider completed this very satisfying picture. It is also very dog-friendly, if that is important to you, I saw, some gorgeous dogs on the day. If you are coming to Kew for any reason, don't miss this wonderful local gem.

Table service was offered for food and drinks and we had the chicken and Hake mains, great decision ! The menu on offer was excellent and the staff brilliant. We have found our new favourite Pub and will definitely be back very soon.

A pleasant enough experience but could do better. Great location on the Green at Kew but service was rather casual and the atmosphere was spoilt by a large and noisy group dominating the staff and the day. Not the fault of the staff except that if you take a big booking you have to be aware of other tables.

I booked this Saturday lunchtime table for a group of 14 friends and children about a month in advance. At the time of booking I was told that I would need to leave a deposit (£50) which was fine, and also that I should phone back a week in advance with a pre-order for the food, which seemed a little odd but ok.

We arrived early for dinner and was asked whether we wanted the high tables or a table. Initially we went for the high tables but the crowd around us were loud and noisy so we moved to a quieter spot. It was ok except for the kitchen door constantly being kept open and us feeling the draft. Sadly, no one told us there was a restaurant area upstairs. Had we known we would have opted for a table there. It would have been much more pleasant. The menu is limited and fortunately we did find dishes that we liked- falafel starter and falafel burger with chips. Both tasty. We opted for the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Not bad but the pudding itself was more like a cake and the sauce slightly too runny. We will visit again but now knowing there is an upstairs will make a point of asking. If you plan to stay downstairs, it can get extremely noisy and dogs are allowed. I hope dogs are not allowed upstairs in the eating area upstairs. Check before you go.

A bit overpriced for average food. The beer garden is nice but the food...overcooked and my tastebuds did not enjoy the sharing platter. Dry chicken, so-called calamari. It all came across like deep frozen cheap bits in batter or grilled and plopped on plates to look nice. I don't think I'll go there again. Far better food is available in London at more reasonable prices.

I had a rare night out tonight with my closest friend and our children. My friend arrived early and I was late so she ordered for the kids and asked them to hold her order so we could eat together. We discussed this plan with four members of staff including the manager. After a long ish wait they brought my food but not hers. I had finished mine by the time they brought hers and we had to keep chasing it. I really didn’t enjoy my meal at all as I was feeling bad about hers. If we had known we weren’t going to eat together she could have ordered when she arrived and not waited for me.
