I was refused my food order of a childs meal because "these can only be served to children"...I get the concept, but there needs to be a level of acceptance that people order from the kids menu for a whole number of reasons and should not have to explain themselves in doing so. Refused my order so I didn't eat there. My drink was overpriced at £6.50 a pint of cider.

We had a table for 4 on a weekday lunch time when it was quite quiet. We sat by the fire and the waitress brought us delicious hot chocolates. When we were ready to order lunch, she was really helpful in checking food availability with the kitchen & allergies. One of the group ordered the vegan burger & the chef checked if she would like coleslaw because it wasn’t vegan. Very attentive & thoughtful staff, and delicious food. Generous portions & reasonably priced. Would recommend and return.

Landlord and land lady are very strange. Janet thinks she’s something from GI Jane and Gary the husband looks like he’s a receiver 🤔😉. Very strange place. Overpriced food and overpriced beer. Only positive is the location. Being close to Morrisons and the ham river and fields. One can have alone of coke or whatever substance you fancy off one of the house dealers Jan allows. Oh and you can hit or glass someone on occasion and jans fine with that so if that sounds like your kind of place I would highly recommend wasting your money there 5 stars!!!!!!

On a wet day we had a very warm and friendly welcome. We ordered a pizza to share, and it came quickly and was delicious. What impressed us most was the non-sticky tables, they were so we were able to sit there and not worry about touching the table. The landlady was contemplating how to remove the cobwebs on the ceiling - something practically unheard of in pubs these days. Will definitely visit again when in the area,

We visited on a Friday morning for breakfast. Most of the other customers were 'workmen' having their breakfasts. The meal was excellent and absolutely delicious. We ordered 2 teas thinking that they would be served in mugs, but we were presented with 2 Tea Pots, with easily 3 cups of tea in them. The tea was good too. While we were there another group of 'Council Workmen' about 11 in all, came in to have breakfast, and it seems that they went there regularly. Which in my opinion meant only one thing, that the breakfasts were good and reasonably priced. I would definitely visit again for breakfast if I was in the area.

I visited with my family earlier in the week and I was sadly disappointed and underwhelmed with the food. I ordered the hunters chicken and despite knowing it was off the smaller menu I really wasn't expecting such a tiny piece of chicken breast for the price. I wouldn't have even considered it a starter and I ended up pinching a slice of my patner's pizza, which was incredibly greasy, because I was still hungry. I also asked for some seasonal veg and mash to go with it instead of the salad but I never received either the veg (said they ran out) or the mash and still got the salad which I couldn't even eat because it contained onion. My mother in law's burger was also not cooked thoroughly throughout as the centre was still pink. However she did say the flavours were lovely. The atmosphere was chilled and service was quick and friendly with a smile but ultimately we won't be returning anytime soon.

We were staying in the area last week and plumped for this establishment mainly due to the menu catering well for our needs, 4 adults, 2 very young children. We arrived and the exterior is welcoming, once we stepped inside we weren’t too sure as there were a couple of loud groups, but we went and sat at our reserved table in the restaurant area. The landlady? then advised us that she had requested the noisy group move further away from us to make it quieter for us. We were amazed, because the group seemed to be locals visiting their local pub, I’m not sure I’d be so obliging! Our waitress provided a really efficient service and nothing was too much trouble, even interacting with the children. The food was delicious and exactly what we were looking for, thank you so much

Staff very friendly, loved sitting in the booths with music paraphilia and old farm items & bicycle hanging from ceiling. Good location if visiting Blandford Forum. Made what would be a boring bland dish of macaroni cheese into something really special by adding mushrooms & spinach soo delicious by far the best meal I had the whole week we were away. Only regret didn't get to go back. Staff exceptionally helpful & friendly a must visit

We went here as all other places were booked but it was a decent enough place with a typical pub atmosphere. It seemed very popular with the locals too. The food was fine enough but my lasagna was a tad over cooked or perhaps reheated?! The staff were all very friendly.

We chose this pub to meet family who were on holiday in the area and it was half way to meet. Service was slow although the staff were friendly. We had to ask for someone to take our order. Typical processed pub food. 2 of our party had the lasagne which was like a brick and very dry. The steak was tough. The worst part was the toilet, it was disgusting. One toilet to serve both male and female for the whole pub? It was unhygienic and had been left in a right state by someone so much so that we could not use it and went to the morrisons next door. The staff should regularly check it. Would not return nor recommend.

Stopped for lunch. Service was good, owners friendly and lunch was good (albeit we only ordered wraps). On the basis of that we went back in the evening. The young guy who served us said that it was "pub policy" for us to pay for the meal at the point of ordering rather than afterwards. I've never experienced this in 40 years of pubs and warning bells should have rung at that stage. We were the only people eating inside the pub at 7.30 which should have also made us think. The meal we had was one of the worst pub meals we've experienced and we've had a fair few. My wife ordered a burger and salad (rather than chips) which came as a tiny salad on a small side plate (cost £10.99) and I had the curry which was Ok but with rice that was just a congealed lump. I would say try for lunch if you're stuck for choice but avoid at all costs in the evening . During the course of our stay we had great meals at the Crown Hotel and Nelson's Cheese and Alehouse, both of which I would recommend. Scored 2 stars on the basis of an average of 4 for the lunch and zero for the evening. A shame as we we were looking forward to the evening meal after the lunch we had.

Very good locality by Morrisons and central Blandford. Pleasant outside seating, traditional interior. Very basic pub menu. Friends had gammon, chips and 2 eggs which was average. My baked potato with tuna mayo was poor in quality and quantity, the potato was burnt and over cooked inside and the tuna was mushy and small portion. The salad garnish was fine but no dressing except some strange gelatinous substance pretending to be balsamic. Altogether disappointing. The coffee was fine. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Tried the Sunday lunch, ordered at the bar and was charged £12.50, what they don't tell you is if you ask for a Sunday lunch they charge for two courses, Surely they could ask.Ordered the beef, was given the Pork, when they rectified this the lunch consisted of a small amount of over cooked beef 4 quarters of chip pan roast spuds, cauliflower cheese and leeks, it smelt like a bag of walkers cheese and onion crisps on the plate, which would have tasted better, the veg was over microwaved but still cold. The sweet was a little better real microwaved custard and cardboard apple cake.

My in laws came down to visit and before they left for their journey home we decided to pop into The Greyhound for Sunday lunch before they left as its dog friendly. We got there and was surprised to see it wasn't very busy, a few people outside and a few inside. We sat down with a menu and decided what to eat. We went up to the bar to order only to be told that they had taken a big order and wasn't serving anymore food and had closed the kitchen for a little over an hour. I understand when big parties come in it can put food orders back but to close the kitchen completely was a poorly managed. Surely in the school holidays and on a Sunday lunch (as I can imagine that being one of the busiest times of the week) you would prepare for this? I just thought it's bad to make other people suffer as they can't handle big orders. We ended up at the Crown which was very busy but still managed to get our food out quickly and promptly.

It is surprising how just a few simple words can elevate ones esteem for something as simple as a post shopping sit-down with a pint or hot drink. It has been a recently adopted routine on each Thursday to travel from our village to Blandford Forum for food and veg top ups. Conveniently the supermarket and just opposite, a super greengrocer, are positioned adjacent to The Greyhound. Thus with bags filled, and my wife loading the car, I mount the steps and order my pint and her hot chocolate or coffee. This is a town pub, much loved for its music events and for those in the know, the base for Teddy Rocks. The food here is prepared to a high standard and conforms to the "Pub Grub" style as it should be in a town location such as this. BUT, and it is this which makes The Greyhound stand out, it is the relationship between staff and customer satisfaction which prompts this review. Today the young man behind the bar recognised a once a week visitor, remembered the Tanglefoot/top favourite pint and the driver partners hot drink preference. not only that, he asked whether he should delay the drink until my wife returned from the car or prepare in advance. Customer Care, great beer and recognition.,

Done your shopping ? Loaded down with groceries and feet aching ? Familiar to many I am sure , so when in Blandford Forum we make for the Greyhound . My choice is always their well presented Tanglefoot ale, coupled with one or other of the burgers on offer, but the menu is pretty extensive and includes veggie options and a salad bar. Weekend and late evening shoppers may find entertainment on stage outside and we were lucky enough to catch a performance by "The Wonkey Donkeys " recently. Not fine dining but satisfyingly old style pub ambiance.

Visited whilst on holiday in Weymouth whilst we drove out to the local towns. We saw the Costa in Blandford Forum but sadly this branch wasn’t up to the costa standards. We went in at 9.30am and tables not cleared, my wifes coffee cup was dirty and we asked for a clean cup to which the lady member of staff tuttered, then the toilet was filthy. I did let the member of staff know but she looked uninterested.
