The food is good and the beer is brilliant. Went in on an afternoon and there were around twenty people there. The service was not so great, the barman was away from the bar for at least ten mins which kept us waiting to be served. When he turned up he was friendly and informative of the beer available. So apart from that it was good.

We phoned a day ahead to ask about staying in the car park in our motorhome which Chris was happy for us to do. It happened to be Tuesday Pie & A Pint night and we both enjoyed Karen’s cheese and onion pie very much. Would very happily return next time we are in the area.

Friendly team and food was ok once it arrived however we arrived without a booking and even though there were plenty of empty tables we couldn't order for 30 minutes and then the food didn't arrive for another 50 minutes. Ended up having to get takeaway containers and eat most of the meal in our car in order to make the hotel check-in cut off

Last minute decided to travel a day early up to the Lakes and called The Greyhound to see if we could stay on their car park. We ordered the homemade cheese and onion pie and a steak. My husband & my self visited this pub after cycling down the track from Lancaster. The weather was really good so we decided to stop for tea. The pub is in a great location with benches both out the back and the front. We went to order at the bar. The owners informed us that they had a few bookings coming in & were about to get busy but they still managed to kindly accommodate us. My husband and my self sat out on the front in the sunshine and enjoyed our Braised beef chili. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite.! We had a lovely conversation with the owner. This place really cares about their service, their customers and their food. A lot of time and effort has been put in to serving beautiful homemade dishes, The pub is friendly and welcoming and has a nice atmosphere. We will definitely return in the future and would recommend to others. Well done Greyhound excellent service & great food.

I Booked a table online for 2 plus a 7 month old, I requested a high chair and cold bottle of wine on the table. I was happy to see this had been done and on our arrival they wished us happy anniversary. They were very welcoming. The menu was good, could have had more option of starters but it was clear they changed the menu on a regular basis. The food was well portioned, cooked well and of good quality and fresh! We were served by one of the landlords and he made an effort to chat to us and interacted with our child, he was very friendly and sociable ! We will definitely be back. Lovely traditional village pub. Beers on tap, seating outside and inside. Quite quiet when we went so we played pool and darts. Didn't try the food. Staff friendly and beer good. Not cheap though at 4.50 a pint, but I guess that's to do with the area and current prices (we don't visit pubs that often). We enjoyed our visit here.

Bad vibes from the start; walking in first got us a bunch of stares from staff and not much else, didn't seem throughout the visit as if they wanted us there. Starters were forgotten about entirely. Food took incredibly long to come out, and was not exactly bad but mostly flavourless. People were also being allowed to vape inside, which is an allergy concern for us aside from a courtesy thing. It's a pub, the bar doesnt have to be high overall, but this wasn't it. After posting the above as my original review on Google Maps, the owner replied to it, which you can go read fully yourself if you like. The owner has responded describing our presence as "the circus coming to town". This clarifies the unwelcoming treatment we got throughout - two of us are trans and one of us is black. With Lancaster, my home town, being historically queer I expect better of my fellow Lancastrians. Queer residents should demand the same. I did not want to mention our identities or races in the original review as we had no proof of actual discrimination and wouldn't claim that without it. However, whether it was queerphobia, racism or both, the owner has now outed themselves for us instead. To their first point, our intentions for dessert first were only based on preference and not on somehow making things hard for kitchen staff, as we are all former restaurant staffers. We came in for a meal; we were served bigotry and now, in response, excuses for not caring to be better. Ban us; we'll never notice.

Never going back to this place, when we came in the atmosphere in the pub changed abruptly, and did not make us feel welcome; all of the staff stopped talking, stared at us and didn't respond at first when we asked for the menus. When we did finally order, I asked for a apple crumble pie and made it very clear (I had to repeat it 3 times) that I wanted it before the main course; this was caught with confusion and judgement from the bartender and he asked me 3 times if I was sure I wanted it before my main course. The wait for the food was in my opinion very long, it took almost 30 minutes from us ordering our food and it coming to us, when the pub itself was empty. The staff were overall very rude and seemed very unprofessional. People were also allowed to vape inside the business (including bar personnel) which is a health risk for non smokers but also an allergy risk. When the other person from our party posted a review, the buisiness replied by saying that “when the circus is next in town, find some where else to dine.” Of course, as a queer person of colour the first vibe I got was that there was either a race issue or an issue with us visibly being queer, which in my opinion is absurd. Lancaster has a rich punk and queer history and I honestly expected better than this. By the way that we were treated, I can safely say that this is not a space where you will be wanted and or safe as a Black and/or queer person so be warned.

Whilst staying nearby on holiday and searching for somewhere to eat, I’m so glad we travelled to this restaurant as it’s one of the nicest places I’ve eaten in recently. 2 adults and 2 children and we all loved it. Food was delicious and well presented. A great choice of food and the dessert menu is amazing! My two children cleared their plates and said it was the best place they’ve been to. I’d go out of my way again to visit this place and would recommend anyone nearby to also give it a go. A brilliant find after just seeing it on my maps apps. After a chilled Sunday we decided to venture out for some dinner. As is normally the case in a family we all fancied something different. I'm all about the gravy, my partner always goes for burgers and our daughter demands pasta. It's tough to find somewhere serving a Sunday menu that caters to our lack of food unity. After a search I came across the Greyhound checked the menu which, unlike most places on a sunday, has a good selection of everything! Checked the reviews and quickly got in to their booking system. Luckily we managed to get a table for last food order time (always a good sign when somewhere is busy) We were greeted by the warm and friendly landlord and shown to our table. We already knew what we wanted but still had a look over the menu again just to be sure 😉 my only huge decision was which meat did I want 🤔 I opted for the lamb. Food came out in good time, the wait you would expect of a decent meal. Not too long but not the length of time a microwave would take. We were served by the landlady who was absolutely lovely, friendly and chatty. She happily brought me more of my Sunday craving of gravy when asked. Anyway on to the food! One word AMAZING! Huge portion of deliciousness! meat perfectly cooked, crunchy veg, perfect roasts topped with a proper yorkshire pud and the gravy OH my god the proper homemade GRAVY! It's really difficult to find somewhere that serves a roast that competes with your own at home, we are all biased aren't we. Well the Greyhound you have saved me hours of prep and fussing hands down! My little family, who don't appreciate my true love of gravy, demolished their double stacked bacon cheeseburger and macaroni cheese with a side of cheesy nachos in no time. The macaroni cheese was clearly homemade and done in the traditional way. Safe to say they enjoyed their choices as much as I did. Clear plates all round! Just an FYI to the person below who has given a not so flattering review. If you order salt and pepper chips the clue is in the title. You will of course, weirdly enough be served CHIPS. Prehaps you could have asked for fries? After asking the landlady ourselves for extras and a chat about our daughters love of halloumi it's clear that specific requests will be more than accomadeted here. Just ask! We are already planning our next visit!

We came here last night for our monthly date night after hearing some good reviews. We both ordered the peri chicken kebab with a side of halloumi and upgraded to salt and pepper chips. Dinner arrived and my flatbread was hard and stone cold. My partners was better but still not perfect. Both of our chicken pieces were like rubber. Very dry and overcooked. The meal said to come with fries and we chose to upgrade to salt and pepper, thinking that they would still be fries but came out as chunky chips. Of which I don’t like. My satisfaction with this meal came through with the amount of leftovers on my plate. Very disappointing and the price of the meal did not reflect the quality at all. We were planning on staying for a pudding, but were so unhappy with the main meal, we decided against it.

What a lovely place for a cosy evening, we received a warm welcome from the very friendly lanlord who direced us to our reserved table. We then had desserts and coffee, again all well presented and the drinks were hot. We can highly recommend this venue for the food which is also very reasonably priced and for the lovely atmosphere. This is only to my own opinion that I must say the Greyhound is the best in the village as I did in fact used to live in Halton back in the 90s... and believe it or not I still miss Halton even though its full of new houses built on what were fields. The food is delicious and it's a great location for a family get together or maybe meet up with some friends for a few pints or more lol... I know the Greyhound has had many owners and will probably be the best in the village for future years to come which is why I've put a 5 star rating. Owners are friendly, welcoming, and have good customer service skills that is very important.
