We arrived for a birthday celebration, with a table book and the woman sitting people after we requested the table we booked, she was super rude saying that we will sit where she will say, really shock but as we were in the birthday mood didn't want to ruin the day. Then after when we were sited I try to call her when she was passing as we had an issue with the QR menu and she ignored us until I was calling her personally and then she stated that she was busy for us and call someone else. Never seen staff like that. SHOCKINGLY RUDE! please avoid this place if can

We met with my three girlfriends, our Sex and the City gang, for lunch there. It was like going to a museum. Just looking at the food was an experience on its own. Eating it...... Well, this took Food Art to the next level. We came out of it feeling like we have done something cultural. It really was not about the food. And the service. One word for it: Amazing. Outstanding, actually.

My wife and I had the tasting menu. We were both impressed with the amuse bouche and petit fours. These stood out more than a couple of the courses. The best of the courses were the Cornish mackerel, the oeuf noir and the hazelnut soufflé. The Cornish mackerel was delicious and wonderfully presented. The oeuf noir was tasty and definitely enhanced by the sea salt. The black truffle shavings however, did not have any truffle fragrance, The soufflé was excellent. It was not soaked in a pool of oil like some of the others that we had. The service was very good- friendly and co-ordinated. The garden leading into the restaurant was well maintained, which can provide a good photo opportunity. This was a real difference compared to other establishments.

The meal was absolutely delicious - can not fault the quality of food! However, be very cautious of the menu it is quite ambiguous and not clearly set out in certain areas. We ended up accidentally selecting an option which cost us an additional £200 overall without even realising it! Whilst it was good it was not worthy the ridiculous price for four spoons of caviar which was not made obvious at all to us. Very disappointed in the lack of communication about this extra cost - definitely think this issue should be addressed promptly.

Had a lovely anniversary meal here. Beautiful entrance to the restaurant in a lovely area of london. Very good variety of menus to choose from suiting all budgets from a set lunch to a full tasting menu. Service is great as you would expect. And the food is great again as you would expect. Very good portion sizes too. Every dish was amazingly presented, very artistic and some of the best presented dishes I have ever seen. Every course unique too, flavours I have not had before. Limousin veal was like nothing I have had before, wasnt sure at first as it wasn't what I expected, but together with all the other elements it was lovely. Highly recommended for a special occasion.

A delightful approach to the restaurant through a zen-like garden, creates an immediate feeling of calm anticipation - it’s a lovely setting. The restaurant’s interior is cool and modern with very well-spaced tables and good acoustics. Staff are very friendly, highly efficient and knowledgable. There is a welcoming lack of stuffiness here which enhances relaxation. Cuisine is outstanding - creative, innovative and delicious. Our canapés were marvellous and set the scene for a wonderful lunch. We opted for the tasting menu with paired wines and the first two courses, Cornish mackerel and Andignac duck foie gras, paired with a 2015 Vacqueyras and a Chateau Villefranche 2016 Sauternes respectively, were wonderful. The combination of foie gras and Sauternes was unexpected but magical and the presentation of the mackerel, delightful. The further courses of “Clam chowder” and “Bouillabaisse” were playful and again, wonderfully presented. I could not fault the food at all and the last two courses of suckling pig and caranoa chocolate, were, again, beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and delicious. This was a tasting menu and I thought that portions were generous. I had one minor quibble and that was the speed of service. We would have preferred to wait a longer time between courses, but because everything else was impeccable, this really was a minor quibble. The Greenhouse is quite charming, an oasis of calm as you embark upon a splendid gastronomic journey. I shall most definitely return.

For my 41st birthday my boyfriend surprised me by booking a 2 star restaurant. I love the setting entering via a striking garden of bamboos and sculptures, which I imagine is even more striking in daylight on warm a summer night. Exquisite details in the decor & table setting inside. We went for 4 course menu, also making sure to look at the vegetarian menu option as I prefer to avoid meat or fish for every dish. As it happens, my favourite dish was the Celeriac from the veggie menu. Do not miss it, simply out of this world. I can't even describe it but one of the best dishes I have had in a Michelin star restaurant. Exquisite to look at and savour. My other favourite course was dessert: Coffee & Hazelnut soufflé. Just the right size and rich in flavour as well as texture. Light and satisfying. PS: Indulge in the cheese 'to share' if you have some room as well, which we did. My boyfriend's favourite course was the Oeuf Noir. The service and staff was amazing and very helpful and courteous, not over-formal, just right. Wonderful. Flo X

MORE AT OpenTable

The Greenhouse with two Michelin stars is considered to be one of the landmarks of classic French cuisine in London. This was my second visit - the first (under a different chef) was one of the most remarkable experiences in my vast culinary career. My recent visit was excellent as well, with many high-end dishes (as can be expected at that price level) but fell short compared to my earlier visit: Californian inspired Clam Chowder was excellent with the range of surprising colonial flavours perfectly supporting the dish. The Clarence Court Egg with white Alba truffle was an interesting game of various textures. When I saw Bouillabaisse on the menu I was excited to have one in top quality outside the Cote d’Azur – yet what came was the chef’s interpretation of the subject, a rather uninspired piece of dover sole. Do not get me wrong, it tasted lovely but I could not hide my disappointment that I had been “refused” the true French dish promised by the menu. Main course was a succulent Chicken Hunter Style, great quality and perfect craftsmanship, yet again no course I`d particularly come back for. All in all these were excellent courses, on expert technical level, but I was unable to identify a single truly remarkable and outstanding dish defining the restaurant. In addition the “fake” Bouillabaisse makes me wonder if Greenhouse changed from top-notch French to a more International and less striking style of interpreting classic French favourites. “Interpretation” should also mean improvement, otherwise it makes no sense, in my opinion. One major plus was the sommelier, she picked out one of the best Puligny-Montrachet bottles I ever had the pleasure of diving into!

Although it looked beautiful, the taste was bland, which I suppose shouldn’t have been a big surprise for me given that figs are currently out of season. MORE AT OpenTable

Obviously a great restaurant, but has recently become very poor value for money. So, let's start with the food. Obviously, this is true Michelin star food, but not as many stand-out dishes as you'd think - only a couple in a meal. Used to be very good for vegetarians, but the vegetarian offering is now significantly behind the omnivore offering - from small things like there's one less amuse bouche for the veggies to the more serious that the main course for omnivores was duck, but for veggies, it was essentially two chips (very good and very clever, but at the end of the day fried potatoes). Now, the service. Absolutely spot on. Some might say slightly over the top, but if you want perfect service, this is pretty much it. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine was equally great with a massive wine list including wines that you don't normally see in London - we had a wine from Crete which was OK, but we loved it for the rarity of it. Our Malbec was good but for the thick end of seventy quid, you'd expect more. The cheese trolley was a bit disappointing. The cheese was served a little cold, so it wasn't as punch as it should have been. A couple of our cheeses were distinctly dull. Overall, this is a top ten London restaurant for omnivores, but from a value perspective, is it worth it? Not sure. For veggies, just avoid - it's not top ten and yet it's still top five price.

The Greenhouse presents a solid Michelin 2-star experience in a relaxed atmosphere. We had the six-course tasting menu. Each course from amuse to post-dessert was wonderful. The only weakness was the bread service, which did not satisfy. The bread was tough without being flavorful and the taste of the salted butter was a little off. However, this criticism is nit picking. The wine list was extensive with many wonderful choices. We were pleased to see that they had a number of selections of wine from our favorite producer or Reisling from the Mosel, Maximin Grunhaus. We were able to enjoy a 2014 Kabinett with dinner and a 1999 Eiswein with dessert. The latter was beautifully presented by the sommelier as the rare bottle that it is. In retrospect, the food was so rich and well-flavored that it could have easily stood up to the Spatlese. Maybe we'll do that when next we return.

Food excellent, an improvement on the already high previous standards. Wine mist remains very extensive, with mark up to match, hard to find anything you want below £250. Sommelier very good though. One major disappointment- we are regular visitors and were shown to a poor table, asked to move to our usual table which was empty and were told it had been specifically picked out and reserved earlier that day, head chap insisted we could not sit there. Shown to another table instead, directly affected by the in and out from the kitchen. Miraculously our chosen table later became free, we moved and the people who had booked it, history does not reveal. Maitre d’ didn’t have the courage to come and ask if everything was ok. Also, we were given a tasting menu only and had to ask for a la carte. Overall very good but at £600 for two for dinner, the above should not happen. Also, they shouldn’t allow tables for 8 in the main room. It’s just too noisy and disruptive for others.

It has really gone downhill since we last went half a year ago. Then, it was a wonderful restaurant and it used to be our favourite in London. We ordered the set lunch menu. Everything was bland, especially the three amuse-bouche. The pigeon was so rare we almost returned it. No deep or exciting flavour anywhere. There are only two choice for the main - either pigeon for two, or halibut. So for two people eating, either both eat halibut or both eat pigeon ! For the cheese course - extra £18 ? I am pretty sure it used to be included for no extra. The set used to include coffee and tea, but no longer. For the ‘incl wine’ option, it used to be half a bottle, now two glasses.

Absolutely disgraceful. I regularly do fine dining and I am outraged that this place has two Michelin stars. They wouldn't get one star from me if I could award none with this review. I came here for a lunch meeting today and this is what I have to say: 1. I was happy to be greeted by a welcoming receptionist and initially welcoming floor staff. 2. I was sat by the window in direct sunlight. No curtains or blinds and no way to move. By the end of the appetisers I was already hot enough to take off my jacket and roll up my sleeves. By the main course, I was visibly sweating and uncomfortable. 3. The wall behind my guest was heavily damaged from where the chair has been rubbing against it over time. 4. The floor staff were absolutely miserable and disrespectful. 5. I was offered tea and coffee at the end. I asked for a mocha and was rudely told that the restaurant was too good for this kind of drink. This is a very basic standard coffee with a lot of room for creativity... it contains coffee and it contains chocolate, many top end restaurants do fantastic mochas... 6. The bread was basically stale and served from a gigantic basket of cold bread buns. Furthermore, when I was asked if I liked the entremet, I pointed out that I was not a fan of the palate cleanser... to which I was rudely told "it's just meant to be a palate cleanser". I'm afraid the floor staff ruined the better dishes and I'm really angry. It's not what I wanted and certainly not worth what I paid. There are far better restaurants with far better service - even without Michelin stars.

Booked for a family meal. We were impressed with the fact that all meals came out pretty much together so nobody was waiting around for their meal. Lovely food, no complaints. Good choice of food. Only thing that let the night down was the long wait for service for drinks at the bar. We did ask if we could order drinks with our food but was told we had to go to the bar, shame when your meal has arrived.

Rather ‘old school’ classic Michelin-type restaurant....very professional, informed and attentive service, a charming location and food that ranges from good to ‘wow’ (for example, the Lobster in a Bouillabaisse Reduction).

the service is not at the level of a 2 stars Michelin restaurant for example my friend was eating one of the amuse-bouches when a server brought fork and knife for the entry, she had to stop and wait ; we were disapointed also by the Tasmanian truffle which was without any taste of truffle ... and the bread was not very good which is something that must be perfect for this kind of range of restaurant ; also the toilets were not that clean. well, we like to discover new star Michelin restaurants but there we were disappointed

I'm not sure if the restaurant still has the Michelin 2 stars, I wonder how they manage to maintain the stars! Food was average no surprise at all, the best one out of 9 courses was actually a sushi but being taken apart with presentation, tasted the same though. The service was poor, at one point we had to pour the wine ourselves, and no one greeted us on the way out after the bill was paid, not very welcoming restaurant at all and I will not recommend it to anyone, bad experience and I will not come back!

Honestly we’re tourists and this was our the first time to have dinner in the Michelin restaurant. I had to say everything was brilliant except one of a course, which looked like two meat balls, we felt a little bit salty. The dessert was wonderful, especially the passion fruit jelly, my parents and I loved it! I can feel the chef’s intention, each course was tremendous delicacy. Thank you, all the staff.

World class cooking, a remarkable wine list both in breadth and depth, attentive but unobtrusive service and a discreet atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the food and your company without any showbiz. I love it. A little like Pied a Terre in style but quieter, more spacious and with the food up two notches I simply cannot understand why there isn’t a 3m waiting list with people waiting for the Oeuf Noir. The supplement for the tuna and caviar was sobering but the dish something else. And the ‘gazpacho’ in the amuse bouche were worthy of El Bulli. Wow.

My wife and I went here for a 9 course tasting menu - veggie for my wife and fish for me. We were stuffed by the end! The ambience was great as was the service. The food was not spectacular but very good. I would be keen to go back and order from the main menu.

We were saddened to hear that this lovely place is about to close and rushed to enjoy a last meal there a few days before the final service. We ignored the truly weird psychodrama being played out at the next table by a couple whose relationship seems unlikely to last until that last service and gave ourselves over the the cosseting service, delicious food and simply amazing views. Galvin at Windows will be much missed.

Very nice hostess and host. Wish I could say as much for the food. We ordered the fish pie and the endive tart. Both were inedible, the fish was old and rubbery, the endive was not savory but sweet. It simply made no sense. Plus it took over an hour to bring out the entrees. The scallop appetizer was at least edible. The spinach side was the best thing that came out of that kitchen. The atmosphere is sterile and more like a NYC diner than a fine French restaurant. We were really looking forward to dining here after all the 5 star reviews. Sad to say it was one of the worst meals we've ever experienced. Maybe it was just an off night. I hope so.

Poor before we had even eaten. Taking my Mum to enjoy Beef Wellington, her favourite dish, I phoned ahead a few times to ensure one was available. Just before I arrived at the restaurant, they confirmed it was available. We sat down in an empty restaurant, rather inefficient staff. We were told there was no Beef Wellington, so I pointed out that one was put by. Then we were told they could make one, and it would take 40 mins, to which we said would that be 40 minutes or could it be longer ? On visiting the toilet I heard the chef say ‘if they wanted one, it might take 45 minutes’. Nobody wants to be considered a nuisance in a restaurant, so we decided to take our custom elsewhere. Having travelled all the way from Hampstead to enjoy Beef Wellington, my Mum’s favourite dish, we left & ate elsewhere. Sadly not beef Wellington.
