Great food and drink!! The Staff is FABULOUS!! We had a wonderful time. Felt like we were out with a wonderful group of friends.

Our family visited The Green Room for dinner and drinks and had a wonderful experience. The food, drinks, and service were great. We especially enjoyed our server, Elena, who was so personable and fun. If we ever get back to Edinburgh, we will definitely come back to The Green Room again.

Stumbled across the restaurant with no expectations. The food and service were excellent. They serve an interesting variety of small plates. We tried four: rump steak, sea bass, roasted cauliflower and gyoza. All were wonderful, creatively prepared and beautifully presented. A wonderful find for dinner.

very nice wine bar in the west end of Edinburgh with a small menu, friendly and courteous staff, not a tourist hotspot, but a meeting place for the local population; There is a fairly good selection of wines that are changed regularly, but local beers are also on offer. If you're not looking for a pub atmosphere with lots of tourists, you should feel very comfortable here.

Went with friends for cocktails and wine after a lovely lunch elsewhere. We were shown to a table at the back of the establishment. We asked for a table at the window. We were told these were reserved. One became available and we were reluctantly moved. Cocktails looked good but we're very disappointing. Horrible taste - not sure if wrong measures used were wrong or cheap ingredients. We drank them but when asked if we enjoyed them we said no. This feedback was obviously not appreciated as we were told this is how we make them. No apology given. Why ask for feedback if you don't want it or even try to make things right. We asked for the bill and the 'manager' (I use the term loosely) presented us with the full price bill £34.50. Two cocktails and an overpriced glass of cheap wine - £10.50 charged. This wine can be purchased for £13.50 for the bottle (absolutel rip off). The 'manager' spent her time schmoozing with what I presume were 'regulars' instead of making sure her other customers were looked after. When we left I said we would not be back. She replied I don't want you back. Very professional and customer focused I don't think. Awful establishment. I would not recommend. Avoid at all costs.

Good first impressions though extremely slow service. Charcuterie board took 20 min to arrive and wasn’t great for £28 / for 2 people. We were served the “last of the bread” which was a fraction of what I saw delivered to an adjacent table. Wasn’t offered an alternative item or token discount. Make toilets need a good clean.

Nice spur of the moment drop in pub. Reasonable drink and food prices, great cocktails and wine list. Our server, Linda, is two thumbs up.

Had a great time here with some girls! We shared two cheese boards and got some bread and humous. We also had wine flights which was really fun! It was a bit strange that our wine flights were all different. It would also be great if there was more explanation about the wines, but it was very enjoyable!

This was our first visit: We were two coming for a couple wines after dinner and got the last table! Even though, service was fantastic, with Gabi coming to check on us often. Of course the wines we had were also stellar. Great selection at a very good price. Will be back

I was in this bar tonight (14/10/23) and just wanted to say a kind word about one of the bartenders. I was on a pretty shocking first date (I didn’t feel unsafe or anything though) and when I went up to the bar to pay so I could leave the bartender was so kind to me in making sure I was okay when I told him I wasn’t having a good time. He offered to book me a taxi if I needed and offered for me to chill there if I felt uncomfortable. He was a tall dark haired man (I didn’t catch his name) but he definitely deserves some recognition for how kind he was to me. Thank you!

We live nearby and loved the service from the Spanish waitress, Elena (spelling?) - she was amazing, welcoming, friendly and the reason we returned. The prices have increased substantially of late but will still support this local business

Minimum effort unfortunately. Tiny portion and basic. Radio playing through the TV really didn't help the experience.

Great selection of wines, knowledgeable staff, high quality nibbles and cheese boards etc, and a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

Don’t quite get the hype. Service was exceptionally inattentive, despite it being a quiet night, and it took ages to order new rounds of drinks or get the bill. The cheese board was mediocre for the price and for a higher-end establishment I would expect a ramekin of softened butter with the bread, not cold and unspreadable packets. I hope to give it another try but there is a lot to improve here.

Loved the ambience, it’s a place where the people make you feel at home. The owner likes to take the time to take care of you and suggest you the best wines according to your taste. We really loved it, and we would reccomend it to eweryone because the kindness of the staff is unique! Thanks again.

Food was good but highly overpriced for small portions. Charging £25 for a cheese/charcuterie board, which we were told before ordering was a sharing platter when it was actually just enough for one person, is really not on. Atmosphere and service were OK, but would not return due to the prices.

Have been exploring the area after recently moving to Edinburgh. Popped in early, mid week, so it was empty but still felt it was worth leaving a review as I will definitely be coming back. The lady working was happy to talk through the monthly events, wine flights and other things they offer (including a shop to buy wine). Even on my own it’s a comfortable space to be in. Had a lovely glass of Pinot Noir. I’ve added this to my ‘local knowledge’ list of places to go and bring friends.

Love the food and customer service on this elegant restaurant in Edinburgh. Prices are good too. If you don't know what to order, their cheese and cured meats boards are fantastic.

Visited this wine bar last night with two friends. Lovely atmosphere, super wine and the best Espresso Martini ever! We also had some fries (Oregano salt and spicy garlic) which were so tasty. We were very lucky to have the most wonderful young lady serving us. I believe her name is Ruby. She was patient, kind and very helpful. You made our night Ruby. Thank you so much.

Only a wine bar in the sense that it is a bar, and they sell wine, but it seemed to lack anything special. If a real wine bar opened up next door, this place would see its custom drop. The wine list just lists the wines by type of grape with nothing about the brands or any other information. Wine was so-so. Staff seemed so-so. Terrible music playing in the bar -not really relaxing.

Was up in Edinburgh to run the marathon, popped in here for a cheeky glass the day before the run and loved it. Good atmosphere, brilliant staff and nice wine! We also stuffed our face with gyros and fries. Really lovely wine bar!

Such a let down I’d followed on Instagram and thought this place looked fab! We went 20 mins across town in a cab to visit We’re planing drinks and lunch The miserable bar maid and the total lack of Atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon around 2 was shocking. To make it worse they had football on two screens I expected a good lovely crowd and bustling lunch. Vibe We tried a glass of wine two different ones. Not great. Certainly not even pretty good. So we left before lunch. Don’t come here if you are expecting fab wine. Good atmosphere and great service

I love a unpretentious wine bar! Service is good and the ambiance is great. Its location is perfect too as it has a local vibe even if in the middle of the city. Quickly becoming a favourite!

Went there at lunchtime on Saturday before Scotland against France. Very busy in the wine bar. The friend who took me to the wine bar is a frequent visitor and recommends this place. The chef had prepared a beef bourguignon with accompanying vegetables + a cheese course to follow comprising of brie and bread. The food was delicious and it was plentiful. Very hot and really hearty as well as wholesome. There was a lively atmosphere in the wine bar which was terrific. It was a little crowded in the bar and it is a little snug when the place is full The beers available were by Innis & Gunn and were smashing. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Green Room

A great place to meet up in Edinburgh's West End with good wines thanks to the owner's long experience in the wine trade and restaurant businesses.

Our bartender manny made our visit, very professional and friendly. He was very informed on the menu and gave great recommendations. Would definitely visit again.

Everywhere on William street was fully booked what with the football on and happy diners. As an ex chef I have to say it was great to see as the hospitality arena is going through a tough time. Never mind HGV drivers the restaurants cannot get chefs nor front of house personnel. We slipped through the doors of the Green Room on William Street into a busy noisy, from chattering tables into a very French atmosphere where international languages were exchanged back and forward. The Green Room just has that immediate comfortable feeling to it with a large long bar displaying its beers and spirit choice but it serves as a great Wine Bar into the bargain with many bottles on display. The Maitre d’ arrived at the table and I exchanged pleasantries with him in French from my days out in the Alps. We ordered a delicious bottle of Hermitage Du Cedres a full bodied French red and some delicious European choices in tapas. Burrata with cherry tomatoes bathed in extra virgin olive oil, a plate of Boquerones those silver anchovies in vinegar, a mixed charcuterie board with delicious bread and stunning green olives. Delicious as it was we wanted more but this landlord also has the problem searching for a dependable chef to take over his kitchen. That said it’s one salary he doesn’t have to pay for as the Tapas offers no real kitchen work. The wine was stunning served in beautiful big glasses allowing one to savour and breathe the bouquet of each particular choice. This in itself is class by a French landlord schooled in the correct ways of how to serve wine correctly. We will return here for certain it was a great ambience and not a television in sight which made it all the more enjoyable. People actually sat and chatted as we used to back in the day

I visited here with my wife today and had a lovely half carafe of Rioja. The wine was quite expensive but of a decent quality. Service was very pretentious and upon requesting the bill it would seem that none of the 3 members of staff that were talking behind the bar were prepared to provide this, almost as if it was beneath them. The wine was good but customer service needs to be improved.

We went for a pre-dinner drink - bad mistake. We sat for 12 minutes (yes, I timed it), while we were studiously ignored by two servers, one male, one female. The man disappeared, and the woman was much more interested in chatting to three guys on the next table and simply turned her back on us. From other reviews it seems that poor service isn't unknown, but that the product is OK if anyone deigns to serve you. We won't be back

A hidden gem for locals and great spot for tourists to feel the Edinburgh vibe. Great selection, good recommendations of wine, cocktails are carefully selected and I loved the Auld Alliance. Charcuterie platters are light meals but sufficient since the wine is the main course :)

Lovely atmosphere and staff great

I walked into this bar looking for a quiet drink and a meal. It was fairly early on a Friday night and the place was less than half full. I initially hesitated in the doorway with my Covid mask on and doing the 'I am confused by the new Covid way of entering a bar. Please help me' stance. Nobody took any notice so I approached the bar only to have the barman shout at me to GO WAIT BY THE DOOR in a very aggressive manner. There was no sign or other indication that this was required. I can't remember when last I encountered such rudeness. What this barman is doing in the hospitality industry is beyond me. If he can't keep his cool in a quiet wine bar he should find another job. This no way to speak to another person let alone a paying customer. If I hadn't just driven for 7 hours I would have taught him some manners the old fashioned way. After a very quick glance at their pathetic selection of beers and wine, I walked out and found a much nicer pub a few streets away. It was my first impression of Edinburgh and only my second trip to Scotland. I can't say I'm in any hurry to go back there. The Scots reputation for being rude and uncouth appears to be well founded. Fortunately there are plenty of very nice and polite Eastern Europeans to keep the place running.

*UPDATED* Hi Thomas, I am glad to see that at least you do an effort to educate your customers, but there is a really fine line between being informational and giving your customers for granted, as I believe this is the case. I was not talking about the style of Garnacha that I have been sold but its quality. I drink a lot of Garnachas from Gredos myself and, believe it or not, I understand a great deal about what high altitude and low extracted Garnachas really are. I was sold that Ballad as if it were an artisanal product which it is not. This is a mass produced wine. I am not doubting that you might have customers who like it, but at least you have pending homework on understanding which kind of wine drinker is in front of you before assuming he will take anything. I was considering giving yourselves a second chance, but that arrogance it is putting me off definitively. *ORIGINAL* I heard wonderful things about The Green Room's team. As I've never experienced a night out there myself I decided to support the venue during lockdown by buying some of their wines. When I arrived there was a friendly old man at the counter. He told me that he was a wine importer himself and recommended me a wine called Ballad. An unique Grenache from really old vines. I couldn't say no to such high expectations! However, the wine was far away from being something special. Very week and simple. I researched the winery and it seems to be a mass produced wine what it's been sold to me, miles away from being an unique jewell. Such a pity... I don't recommend it at all. If this is the level of their wines it might be worth thinking it twice before paying a second visit.

Was our first time coming here and have got to say the whole evening was amazing. All of the staff were lovely and so friendly and the wine and food was amazing. The owner also came over to us for a chat, he again was lovely and really made us feel welcome. Would 100% recommend and return. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Outstanding place to get a really nice wine. And I mean, many places could say the same. But guys here's that extra 5th star we're all looking for. Astonishing wide fan of choices all of them full of secrets, and the fun of having them revealed by the hand of the sommelier. A fellow who clearly did his homework. Over all this is exactly what Edinburgh was missing, if your are on the look for incredible wines, premium spirits and cocktails matched by local and artisanal accompaniments then you need to visit The Green Room in West End. This is exactly what I expect when I read Wine Bar, just to get disappointed most of the times, this guys know how to host and make you feel special.

Great little pub hidden away in the west end. Whilst Edinburgh is know for the phrase "you'll have had your tea then?" This place is the absolute opposite.
