The Green Man in Dacorum

Been coming here for years, I know everyone cutting costs but the fish and chips was dreadful. Last time we came, sausage and mash wasn’t very nice, and was sent back, nobody spoke to us about this, even tough the dish had one mouthful out of it, the sausages didn’t have any colour and were like rubber, we paid and left. Went this evening as everyone has an off day, thought we’d give it another go, and it’s our local. This time ordered the fish and chips, always crispy, hot with lovely mushy peas, and lovely chunky tartar sauce, Today the mushy peas where from a tin I suspect, green water, and the tartar sauce was liquid , processed vinegary stuff, wasn’t nice. Plenty of food, but just soggy fish and warm at best. Gutted honestly, but won’t go back, the prices are shocking for the quality.

Great pub for lunch loads of seating good beer garden. Dog friendly. Chicken and advacado sandwich was amazing will definitely be back

Thank you to the staff at the Green Man in Hemel Hempstead. Our family of 21 met up for a long awaited get together. The staff were so helpful in making it special , nothing was too much trouble .The food was amazing and a reserved area was made for us all.

Absolutely fumiming !!!!! Have received a parking fine today 2 months after an event at the pub....how long has ANPR been in use here!? I'm a local and have used the pub for over 40 years , that will change I think , at no point was it mentioned by staff & no apparent notice in the pub . No , i hadnt noticed signage , hardly surprising really!!! Extortionate fine considering its not a parking violation as such just failed to register my car ... Disgraceful

I am disgusted that I received a Car Parking fine yesterday from LPS - 2 1/2 months after taking some elderly friends to this pub for lunch, (2 of them needed walking frames so I had to park close to the entrance) and we met up with 2 other friends there - I had pre-booked the table. I am sure that I input my car registration number at the bar but how can I prove this as you don't receive a parking receipt or confirmation? I went to the pub today and appealed to the D.M. but she said she cannot do anything about it. She suggested that I write an appeal but I am worried that by doing that the Parking Company will merely reject my appeal, even though I have a receipt for the meal we ate, and then will impose a £100 charge as they try to scare customers by saying if you lose an appeal you will face the increased charge. I intend to raise my complaint with the Stonegate Group Management about this and will never use this pub again. I am very upset about this incident which I believe affects the elderly and disabled disproportionately. (I could have walked from the shops car parking but those with mobility problems can't!)

We are a charity organisation who meet socially at the green man monthly. This month several of our group received parking fines since they did not realise they had to put their car number in the machine. Some do not use technology and pay cash so no way of proving they were customers. We will be looking for somewhere else to meet in future!!

Like a lot of pubs now, and completely understand why, APNR operates. This was very clear from the signs when entering the car park. We looked to see if there was any mention of not needing to pay if we were customers but didn’t see anything on the signs which we read, so we left. It turns out you do not need to pay for parking if you are a customer but this was not clear from the signage we read. Shame as we’ve eaten here before and resulted in us going elsewhere.

Love this place, nice atmosphere, banging food and friendly staff. Impressed with Teresa who was running the show Friday night.. what a lady! Well be back next week Xx

Thanks the manager Teresa, who soughted my Sunday roast. Normally comes with gravy already poured all over, but served gravy in a gravy boat. A small detail but not every one likes gravy over everything. So stayed on for a few more drinks.

From 8th April 2024, this pub is under new management so ignore all previous negative comments. The new landlord is cheerful, energetic, helpful and enthusiastic. Had a lovely lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent value. Recommend the chicken, avocado and bacon sandwich. A whole grilled chicken breast served in excellent focaccia bread with salad and chips £8.50. Bottle of wine from £15. It is a family restaurant. Good if you have kids, not so good if you don't but everywhere is the same these days. Eat later in the evening if this bothers you.

My lunch was great, highly recommend the avocado, tomato and mozzarella sandwich.. thanks to Jamie and Jess ! Great service Thankyou to Teresa and Abi at the front of house, very polite and helpful. My son gives his burger a 10/10. Thanks.

Although it’s our local and we love the staff, the selection of drinks and it’s extremely dog friendly, we hadn’t eaten there for quite some time. We had an excellent sharing platter and each had amazing desserts. As a bonus the meal and drinks were basically paid for with our points earned using the MiXR app! Big shout out to our servers today, Abigail, Teresa and Jamie the chef, but then again they are always great to us!

I take my family here regularly for either a meal or just drinks. It is great also to be able to take my dogs. This pub is very welcoming to everyone.

Delicious, Sunday lunch , I had the pork, beautiful, my friend had the lamb shank, fell off the bone. Vegetables cooked to perfection and the gravy super tasty...loved the stuffing and cauliflower cheese... Teresa and her lovely team go above and beyond ... Thankyou 😊

Had a fantastic Christmas day afternoon at Green Man. As it was a Christmas day service it was incredibly busy but the staff were brilliant.One particular lady Teressa was exceptional she was rushed off her feet but still had time to interact and organise other staff members She a true asset to the venue/company.Thank you will be back again very soon

Dreadful Christmas dinner having to wait over an hour and half before to chase the main course after a very poor first course was a joke. No one even came to the table to ask if we would like a drink at all being sat there from 3.00 pm until desert arrived. Just goes to,show what idiots where in the kitchen serving sorbets on a hot plat absolute cretins.After complaining I knew ther was a bigger problem , poor staff where almost in tears, asked to speak to the manager then told she had finished at 2.00 spoke to the assistance who in her own words tell me about it I don’t want to be here either and yes the food is bad but the kitchen won’t listen, got a refund on the meals but poor waiting staff, lack of staff and kitchen staff who could not open a tin let alone cook. At least we had food to go home to, never again,

One of the best roasts I’ve had out in a long time. Compliments to the chef Jess. Unlimited yorkies were a hit with the table, cooked perfectly and still piping hot when they came out. One of the best hunters chickens we’ve had too. Not a bad word to say!! Thank you!!

Had a fantastic Christmas lunch. The food was piping hot, beautifully presented and it tasted divine. Thoroughly recommend this place for food and the lady serving was lovely.

We celebrated my father's 80th birthday Saturday 2nd December hiring out the conservatory 12- 5pm for 40ish people with a handfull of young one's running about. Buffet Food great value considering the venue was free 👍 very comfy seating with light music in the background. Thank you Teresa for the warm welcome, a great time was had by all 🥰

l ‘am a Bitter Drinker/Real Ale , but l always find the beer in this pub, very sour, the lines from the cellar are not cleaned regularly, as an X landlord l know what’s going on in this pub.

Was served by Ollie and Matt who were very professional and gave an amazing customer experience. The food was to a very high standard and had an overall lovely experience.

The service was diabolical, the staff were unorganised and appeared to be under pressure that they couldn’t ope with even though it was 5.30pm and reasonably quiet. The food was ok nothing particularly special. It seems that it’s being run to be something it’s not.

A lovely little pub and restaurant. I've been here a few times for drinks and dinner. It is lovely and relaxed. We walked in on a Sunday just before noon. The waitress kindly accommodated us and sat us at a lovely booth table, perfect for a family of 4. A great selection on the menu and they offer a kids meal deal for £4.50. Tasty burgers! You do have to go up to the bar to order and pay. Personally I think it's easier, so that you can enjoy your meal and just leave. They also have an app, if you prefer to order from your table.

I went for lunch at the green man, and was greeted by a lovely lady called linzi. She had some top drawer banter and she’s a bit of a treat for the eyeballs, which is why I thought I would give her a good review. I would definitely be coming back, just so I can pretend that I’m happy with my life for a short period of time

Came to the green man for a bite to eat to discuss business with my colleagues to discover that it was a wate of mine and my colleagues time. Never been so disgusted with an experience like this one. Where do I start, the staff are rude and arigant, unprofessional, staff spend more time talking to one another than looking out for customers and there needs. Only customers at the bar and still waited at least 10 minutes while the staff continued there chat. I will not be returning to this establishment while things are the way they are and until I get enough faith from my peers if they choose to return! WHAT A POURLY RUN ESTABLISHMENT.

The pub has a good atmosphere if a little quiet for a Friday lunchtime, but the welcome was friendly and the food we ordered was excellent and not overly expensive. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in the area.

I own a chain of hotels and cone here most Sundays and came tonight 4/8/2023, an wow the head chef which I found out to be ashley is a very talented chef. I have tried to get my own head chefs to try and recreate the food I have every time and they are unable to. This chef is well up there and is a true talent.

We visited this pub as a group of 15 line dancers and sent out food requests ahead of arrival. Staff were wonderful, food was amazing, everyone got what they wanted in a timely manner. Tables were cleared between courses and I personally had the best chocolate brownie ever! The cost of my 3 course meal was £15.00 which was really good value and the main meal being hunters chicken was huge. Looking forward to visiting again.
