We used this pub for the best part of two years twice a month, until fairly recently. The food is good and prices reasonable, however early this year the pub landlord decided he wanted to close the pub by 9 pm or just after, making my partner and I feel uneasy as though we were intruding, and this was every Saturday night unless he had a party etc. It was such a shame as we enjoyed going there.

Lovely village and nice old English style pub. In winter they put the open fire on. The pub has nice staff who are friendly. The beer garden views are really good, looking across miles of countryside The only thing that lets the place down is poor quality and poorly prepared food. They get the basics so wrong microwaved soft soggy jacket potatoes, tiny soggy garlic bread etc etc

Me and my dad were out for a Sunday lunch, friendly pub atmosphere. Welcoming staff, we’ve spent many an evening here and love it the views out over the fields and the good variety of pub classics! Also as a veggie it’s good there’s a few options for me and the vegan population! Try the watermelon & cucumber spritzer!

Visited on early May bank holiday. 3 adults and 1 child. Slow service when arrived at 12 noon for booked table. 2 x steak pie - very chewy-meat, pastry too thick, mash potato was overly peppery. Child’s meal was again overly peppery so not eaten. Grilled chicken like rubber. 3rd meal of topside beef Sunday lunch style was satisfactory. Without drinks £51. Disappointing and have no desire to return ever again.

Have visited twice in the last month, were not disappointed. The staff are very welcoming and pleasant, and nothing is too much trouble. Sunday roast dinners are very good, good portions and home cooked, Desserts are wonderful with plenty of choice. Drinks are reasonably priced. Would I recommend this pub/restaurant ? Yes We will be back.

Visited on Sunday night to take part in the quiz. The questions were very good. The porter on tap was also very pleasant. Unfortunately, they didn't sell Prosecco by the glass for one of our group and only sold it by the bottle which was not ideal. It was very nice that they brought sandwiches and chips around at half time.

We hadn't booked but were offered a table in an adjacent room which was very pleasent. The mixed grill was very generous. A vegetarian nut roast with goat's cheese was excellent. Puddings were delicious. All meals were home cooked. Although busy we didn't have a long wait.

Place itself was nice however the staff seemed disinterested from the off. Knew it was a bad sign when instead of being acknowledged Barman untangled a phone wire!! There were 3 other tables eating at this point no one else in restaurant. Seated by a miserable waitress who looked like they didn’t want to be there. Food & drink order taken quite quickly, by Jonny who I think was the manager. side order did not arrive with food and I was ignored repeatedly when I tried to ask about it. No apology, sat with dirty plates for ages while waiting for the bill and then again to pay. It was Jonny who served us throughout and the whole experience was quite shocking so much it became laughable. As a restaurant manager myself I do not understand how he got the position. Didn’t even get a thank you or a goodbye when leaving. Will NOT be returning even though the food itself was very nice!!

Firstly I would say the staff are very hard working and very pleasant. But today popped in for a pre booked meal , service was very slow and lots of food on the menu wasn't available .The food we did receive was lovely. All in all a great location with great views across the countryside open fire , ample table space . Maybe needs a few extra staff I would recommend

Run out of apple sauce to go with roast pork. Several slight changes to meals compared to advertised menu including no crackling with trio roast and no pigs in blankets with roast turkey, just plain slightly undercooked sausages. Rock hard roast potatoes and tepid globs of fat in the Yorkshire’s. Has been much better in the past.

I probably hadn't been in the Green Man for 20 years and didn't plan to stop there for a midweek lunch - but my intended destination in Willian wasn't serving food because of staff sickness and I was heading to my first reserve in Graveley when I found myself passing right by the door and thought: Why not? I can't remember much about that earlier visit but it's probably fair to say that nothing much has changed. The decor in the lounge bar is clean and tidy, but the style is firmly rooted in the past - no wooden floors, artfully painted quotes on the walls or food served on slates here, and amen to that. The weekday seniors lunch offer of two courses for £7.95 obviously has a firm following, with a clutch of grey-haired tables tucking in. The menu - both for the seniors lunch and for all-comers - concentrates on traditional favourites with old-fashioned puddings galore, and even the presentation on the plate harks back a couple of decades. It's good value, though, and there was a friendly welcome to a party of strangers just stopping by. The Green Man won't be soaring up my list of top 10 North Herts pubs but it was a perfectly pleasant lunch enjoyed by all three in our party.

Used to visit this very friendly pub when I worked in Hitchin nearly twenty years ago. Decided to visit again when friends suggested lunch and we were looking for somewhere "new". We were not disappointed. The menu is extensive, the prices reasonable and the service was excellent.

Really good coffee thats why i like Starbucks. Friendly staff and great service but sometimes they were getting slow after serving a customer or two because but the staff busy in gossip conversations in front of the customers who are waiting to be served. Location is good so do the atmosphere.

The server was quite aggressive to myself and my daughter. I asked the older chap his name on the way out very politely his name as he wasn’t wearing a name badge and he wouldn’t tell me. I assume the manager. I asked the other staff his and their name. They wouldn’t say and hid their name badges. (Alfie) The actual hot chocolate was lovely and the young people who serviced me (including Alfie) were all lovely but the so called manager was intimidating and rude. I will not return.

Service super slow. Qued 25 minutes for coffee and waited another half an hour for a bacon sandwich. Which was quite tasty.
