W hours late, Everything was cold. Eveyone who ate the mayo and coleslaw were sixk afterwards, will never order again.

Great Sunday roast slow service

Had lunch with my son, lovely atmosphere, the lady who served us was really polite and friendly, if I was totally honest I think it was a little bit over priced for what we ordered, and could have been presented on our plate's better. The food it's self was very nice 👍

For the third time for Sunday dinner and yet again run out if most roasts!

Had booked a table and when arriving was told table wasn’t ready wait for food was 40 minutes, short staffed. So when waiting for outrage to be ready and gentleman went to complain to female manager and he was not happy with what was happening and the manager walked away and we heard her swearing and her attitude really changed to not being nice. So me and my partner walked out as the atmosphere in there was horrible. Of all the times I’ve been going to this pub I’ve never experienced anything like it. If you know your that short with staff and obviously couldn’t cope stop taking bookings do something don’t keep putting people to tables and then give bad service. Sorry to say I won’t be going again for a long while I hope they sort it out for Xmas rush as it will be a nightmare again.

in all of my 83yrs I have never had chicken so good.....tasty and moist...will be using them again for sure.

absolute joke waited 2 and half hours come stone cold got put in the bin dint send my chips and dint put chicken. in my chicken cheese chips wrap only had chips and cheese in it and refused to give my my money back joke of a takeaway

Arrived at around 15:15. Two of us. Obviously visible free and clear tables for two, at least four of them. Where we were "please wait to be seated", we were told: "we are booking only before 4PM". This lack of flexibility is not acceptable. You are making a living from guests who want to eat there, don't you?

2 hours I waiting for my food and still I didn't get if they don't wanna bring no problem but they should text me and I oder from somewhere else than

Pub is half empty on arrival after 3:15 pm and was clearly visible that all the free tables were not reserved (also on their system). We have been turned down by staff that they only take bookings until 4pm.

We stopped at the George IV for dinner on the way home, first time we had visited the pub. It won't be the last! Warm welcome, a broad menu with some interesting (and seasonal) specials and decent prices too. The food was great - special shout out to the Gressingham Duck pie which was very generously filled and the (recommended) salted caramel sundae. Service was really good, and the owners are keen to put their stamp on the place, very friendly and keen to hear feedback. So a big thank you from us and see you again soon!

Food was cold onion rings was half cooked and burger was falling apart with all the sauce on 1 side worst order ive ever got from here

The staff here are always welcoming and really go out of the way to make our experience better, Grace goes above and beyond and makes out autistic children feel welcome and safe to be able to enjoy a meal out with us.

We visited in May and had an awful experience so thought maybe we wouldn't go back, but decided that all the other times we'd been were fine so give it another go. So glad we did, we had a lovely evening. The food was excellent, I recommend the Signature Burger. It was fully staffed so everything ran really smoothly, the staff were absolutely top of their game, we were not rushed at all unlike at some other establishments, everything was calm and relaxed. They have a wide selection of drinks and non alcoholic beers and ciders so something to suit all. Very cosy on an Autumn evening. We look forward to our next visit!

As previous customers, we were sent a buy one get one free voucher and decided to treat ourselves. Unfortunately this was an experience that was extremely poor for me, and although my partners meal was okay he was left eating on his own due to the 2 issues, both the poor cooking and the quality of my meal. I had ordered a steak, well done. This is something I rarely do, and the George cook is the reason why. My steak arrived with patches of raw, red blood on top. Although it was not necessary, one cut was sufficient to confirm it was pink and leaking blood inside too. This turned my stomach and, with our waitress not in view, the plate went straight back to the bar where the barman confirmed the red blood was clearly visible on the steak. Visible red blood on the outside of a steak is a clear sign of poor cooking and personally repulsive to me. The same steak was returned cooked well done and I did try to eat it but it was tough as old boots and 20-25% on inspection turned out to be a large triangle of gristle. All in all, this meant that my meal was a half of a steak and two small jacket potatoes. I showed the gristle to the barman, who, in all fairness, did take the cost of the steak off the bill however, as we would have used the buy one get one free voucher and not paid for it anyway it really didn't make me feel any happier. I would say the front of house staff were fairly pleasant but the quality of this steak in the first place, and the poor cooking of it in the second place were very far from satisfactory. I can only suggest you check each steak very carefully before trying to eat it, or, as my partner did, go for the sausages.

the order was over an hour and half late, i could have walked in the time it took to deliver the other, it is also stone cold and the delivery driver was extremely rude when i went out to collect the food

Always lovely food and amazing staff I take my lady with dementia and they are so accommodating always. Would highly recommend we have had lunch and dinner.

Stopped off here whilst travelling with work. The food was fantastic! We were expecting basic pub food but the food was superb, from starts to desserts, it was all very tasty!

Don't bother.... Wanted to book for Father in Laws birthday. They don't take bookings for over 12!! They said "we would block the kitchen up" Awful thing to say. Think that's disgusting really. No different to having to tables of 8 in there!! Wont ever get another penny from me. Rather go to somewhere where everyone is welcome!!! .....Then you get a pathetic response from the "Owner" Nothing like trying to help someone out?? Embarrassing!!

What a lovely evening. Great food, staff were lovely, very accommodating and took all preferences into account.

We were served by Katie who was just superb. She was friendly, professional and very attentive. I have a dairy allergy and so eating out is always a nervous experience but at George IV all the staff are extremely helpful and informative about what is safe. They kitchen do an amazing job of turning out the best food at an extremely high standard. The manager himself is a lovely welcoming and friendly man. It feels like eating out but in someone's home and very warm welcome and excellent staff. It is our fist choice for eating out every time and would highly recommend to others. Thank you to all the staff.

Booked a table for 7.15, was ignored for 45 mins to get our drinks order, once we finally got our food order taken, we waited 2 and a half hours to learn our food order was cancelled and no one told us, they were very unhelpful, will not be back

The food was amazing, the service and staff were absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a gorgeous meal the food was all freshly cooked and very tasty. Served quickly and all food out together for the 4 of us. It was also nice being taken to our table and orders from table too and for drinks better than going to the bar and orderinv as it used to be. 100% perfect

Order did not arrive at all, ordered at 7:20pm and called restaurant twice who said the order was on the way, only for it to never arrive.

Revisited after many years. Great welcome but service after that not what one would expect. Even though we were eating and sat at table in restaurant, still had to get own drinks and pay as you got them, then pay the final bill as you leave

Went in for my wife birthday party , the staff was very accommodating and cheerful. Nothing was to much for them. The food was excellent and fast and the singing at the end was the cherry on the cake ! Thanks guys for the wonderful time

Great food. It's really nice to see a variety of different things to choose from rather than the typical pub menu. Lovely interior as well as a lovely dining area outside too.

Best Gammon, Egg and Chips I have had for ages. Staff were friendly and helpful, I had a great lunch on the terrace. Shame the real ales were off but it didn’t spoil the experience.

Very good food, friendly staff, but atmosphere was a bit lacking, think it was down to the layout of the pub it was like a big open corridor, but that aside I would recommend this place for a nice meal at a good price 😀

Disaster really. Not greeted, had to ask and find my own table, £20 for a mixed grill that was at best £10 worth, ask for steak rare, came up medium to well, nobody asked me how my meal was, looked understaffed, barman rushed off his feet, left without so much as a goodbye, thank you or clear off. Very poor and won’t bother again.

OK for an everyday meal, wouldn't go for a romantic dinner. It's a traditional pub selling traditional food.

I'll start with the positives - They squeezed us in for Sunday Lunch when we did not have a reservation. They were well-staffed. They had a lot of options for veggies and vegans. Now on to the rest. I've never have such a grim plate of food that was not a mistake. I had the mushroom wellington which came with seasonal veg, roast potatoes and stuffing. The wellington had no flavour other than pearl onions. I would have been more accurate to call it a pearl onion pie, the stuffing was a tiny block of dried-out leather, and the veg was a pile of soft, boiled stuff that could not be distinguished from each other other than the occasional bald kale stalk that caught in your teeth, Finally the roast potatoes... Tasting these made me pine for some kind of Aunt Bessie's frozen roast potato. They had clearly been peeled and cut and left out to go brown and dry out then thrown in the oven with no fat or seasoning at all -though, dry, flavourless. I watched my brother, who had the beef I think, try to subtly deal with a skin on his gravy thick enough to make a jacket out of. The staff were nice but I really would shift their customer service training a tiny bit as about three times a clearly emotional conversation was interrupted for unimportant queries and not briefly. Lastly, a lemon cordial with water not soda and no ice was 3.30 on our bill. We are all used to wild beer and wine prices but I feel like there is an unspoken rule of cool in pubs across the country that the one option for people who are struggling financially is cordial. In conclusion, thank you for accommodating us but my word I won't come again.

The delivery driver very rudely told me my next order would be cancelled if I don't order more food next time. He didn't elaborate on how much I had to spend and made me feel bad for doing nothing wrong.

I was served by the lovely Donna, she always makes us feel so welcomed. The food is fantastic, we had fish coujons and the barbers smothered chicken both dishes were delicious. Great atmosphere can’t fault anything.

ordered at 5:20 was still waiting at 6.30pm. requested an update on just eat and the food was on its way. Still waiting at 7:10pm and requested some money back for the late order. the restaurant refused and said they'd give me something free. I called the restaurant and was spoke to really rudely saying my address is far away (it's 25 mins max) food arrived after 2 hours stone cold and no free item

Poor service! After 1 hour waiting found out the waiter hadn't put our order through to the kitchen and had lost it so had to reorder! Desserts also took over 30 minutes after ordering. Roast beef was inedible tough and stringy and losts of gristle. Veg very underdone for my liking. Roasts were poor but children's meals were good and burgers looked nice. Very disappointing lunch, especially as we had brought family with us, and will not be returning for food again. Nice garden to enjoy a drink in summer though.

Quick lunch in here today. Service was very good. Food was pretty good too. Much fish was definitely good quality and had a nice batter. Not too heavy. Chips were large and fluffy on the inside. Mushy peas were .. mushy! The burger was good, the slab of meat on the inside was substantial and I’m almost surprised they didn’t ask how to cook it. Hearty good food. The outside area looks great for summer drinks. Would go again

We went to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere was pleasant and the place was not crowded. Good outside seating area in the sunshine with an outside bar. The food was plentiful and served quickly.

The garlic mushroom starter was two mouthfuls. Tasty but minute. Expected a bit more. Nice meal though and staff very friendly.

Our family dinner was great. Prompt and friendly service by keira, food was quick and hot. Only disappointing thing was the dessert, not quite value for money in my eyes.

Food was tasty, timely, and service was good. The menu has a few issues, a sharing starter for two which includes ONE sourdough shard (small triangle of sour dough toasted to crouton consistency) and ONE slice of grilled courgette isn’t really shareable. But it’s a niggle.

We frequent the George IV on a regular basis. The choice of food is very good and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. On this occasion we were served by Caitlin, excellent service from her, all our requests were dealt with quickly and efficently and as usual our Sunday roasts were cooked to perfection. And to top it off, the draught Abbott, my personal favourite Real Ale, was available and it was an excellent pint or three!
