Chai Naasto - Hammersmith in Richmond upon Thames

Utterly disappointing experience — would not recommend. We had a very poor experience at this restaurant. Despite the place being nearly empty (only one other table was occupied), we had to wait 10 minutes just to be seated. The service throughout was extremely slow and unprofessional. It took 30 minutes just to get a glass of water after we asked, and our food arrived over 45 minutes after placing the order. We ordered the Dhaba Chicken Curry and Brinjal Masala. The chicken curry was decent, but the brinjal dish was very underwhelming — it mostly consisted of potatoes, with barely any brinjal flavor. Even worse, the dish felt like it had been microwaved unevenly, as parts of it were hot while others were cold. To top it all off, they added a 12.5% service charge to the bill. When I requested to opt out due to the poor service, the waitress insisted it was mandatory — which I found completely unacceptable, especially for a table of two with such subpar service. Overall, the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food, service, and ambience. I will definitely not be returning, and I do not recommend this place to others.

Food was fine if a bit hot but the interior decor is shabby and I was upset after a jagged screw on a chair next to me in the overcrowded space snagged my new Zara top, which ruined the evening for me. The restaurant add a 12.5% service charge. The bill for two of us, one main dish each, no starters, came to £43, with no alcohol.

Ordered 3 times, giving the benefit of the doubt after a terrible delivery second time round. This restaurant does not know how to seal containers properly - curries arrived leaking and spoiling the rest of the contents. Curries on the last two occasions have been flavourless, bizarrely sweet and drenched in oil. Order decent Indian food from anywhere else but here.

Very pleasantly surprised to find this cute Indian restaurant a walking distance from Ravenscourt Park. Very close to the Hammersmith train stations too. Coming to the food, honestly it was actually delicious. We had a chat grill platter of which taste and portion sizes totally blew us away. The pain puri was delicious too albeit not spicy which is a good thing for the locals! Menu options are intense, they do a great job explaining how to order and what portions, and just so many great options for all. Lots of drinks available too!! It really has it all. Except maybe desserts. Ambience was tight but very ethnic decor. Great place overall! Would recommend (:

This is a great place to go for authentic Indian food. We went as a family, and tried both veg and non-veg. All dishes were very tasty and well cooked. The portions, much to our surprise (after reading the menu which talked about "mini" bowls of veggies, dal etc.) were very generous. We ordered some chaats as starters but the thaalis also come with grilled starters, so we ended up overeating! We thought we would try their mega thaali meant for six people, but apparently you have to specifically order it while booking the table. We didn't know this. But their regular thaalis are shared thaalis for two people - and believe me, we struggled to finish the entire food! The decor is rather ordinary - they could improve it by paying some attention to simple Indian decor - like historical figures/paintings etc. very good. The staff are very friendly. Ms Meshwa and Mr Franco stood out for their willingness to put up with our various requests and change of plans! The do pitchers of excellent mango lassi, don't miss them! But as for beer, any number of fancy brands are on display on a cabinet - but not available for consumption! They do have some nice Indian brands of beer, which we tried. Dishes are prices for Hammersmith residents, so beware!! Overall, a great restaurant with an imaginatiive menu.

One of the best curries I’ve ever had. Whole menu is amazing.

The food was very good, and the Thalis are a nice way to discover many different things. My 3 stars goes to the fact that it took 1.5hrs wait to get our Thali once seated - and all other tables had to wait the same amount of time. While I absolutely enjoy slow eating and having time for a good chat, getting seated at 7.30pm and then get your mains at 9pm is far too long. I would not recommend if you go with children.

Met expectations, no surprises.

Staff were very friendly and food overall was nice. I didn't tell them at the time so wouldn't not go because of this but the Mango Lassi was not to my taste, I am a big Mango lassi drinker but this w.asn't very good to be honest. The Gulab jamum was also not very good being too hard and not great flavour. If they had improved these two things then would give five stars.

Very good, authentic tasting food. We had the alu ticking and keeps with egg. We also had the brinjal which was fine but not as good as the other dishes.. Service was very sweetly done. I didn't like the chai but they didn't charge me for it. Cosy place, just a few minutes from Lyric Hammersmith. We had tight timelines for a pre-theatre meal but they handled it perfectly.

This is a small place in Hammersmith but serves the largest Indian veg thali in UK. We had one thali between 5 people...and we couldn't finish it. Good us well made & well served. Definitely one not to miss

The food was reasonable, my wife is Punjabi and thought that it was OK but not great, but it was quite expensive for what we got. I guess if you eat in Hammersmith that's what you pay!

The restaurant offers very authentic Indian food. I loved the shared plates, as they allowed me to try different curries. The chicken in the curry was perfectly cooked—soft, juicy, and flavorful. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great Indian dining experience!

Unfortunately , it didn’t live up to the high expectations set by my previous visit. The ambience was decent, though a bit cramped, which made it feel less comfortable than before. The starters, however, were fantastic — full of flavor and definitely a highlight. That said, the main course didn’t quite hit the mark. The quality wasn’t as good as I remembered, and it didn’t seem to live up to the standard set by the starters. Service, on the other hand, was excellent thanks to Anaya, who was attentive and friendly. However, it was disappointing to witness the owner/manager yelling at her for no apparent reason, which was uncomfortable and off-putting. All in all, it seems that the experience has gone downhill since my last visit. While the food and atmosphere were better previously, I hope they can address these issues for future visits.

Had a wonderful evening at Patri in Hammersmith. The food was excellent. Veg and non-veg starters followed by 2x Thali (also veg and non-veg). Rounded off with a cup of nice milky masala chai. The service was just right - efficient and unobtrusive. A great place to catch up with friends.

This place is like the Koh-i-Noor, stolen from India, although we should keep this one. Great food and lovely staff.

A very nice discovery for us: c It was our first in an Indian restaurant and it was a real taste pleasure! We love spices so for us no problems... for the children it was more complicated! The dishes are just HUGE and we left way too much, much to our despair (I don't like to waste). Well, on the wine side, I haven't really found what I'm looking for (but it's more subjective on that side!) So in short over a week in London and so many restaurants, PATRI is in our top 3! Thank you for finding us a table on the evening of December 31 without having reserved and thank you to the chef for this very pleasant discovery of Indian flavors!

I’ve been out of India close to a month now and was craving Indian food. Food at Patri was amazingly close to home cooked food. Loved dal and naan. Masala chai was too good. Definitely recommend

We went to this restaurant with great expectations but were very disappointed and dissatisfied with the experience. It was pretentious but didn’t live up to the expectations. We ordered the grand thali with seafood for 5 people which took an hour to prepare and they said that on the menu so we were prepared for it. While we were waiting they served starters like panipuri and chaat which were good. The thali arrived with 26 dishes and we couldn’t work out why it took 1 hour as the only fresh things were the naan and samosa and aloo tikki. All the other dishes looked pre-prepared. The only decent dish was the kheema. The rest of the curries were sweet!! There was no salad as advertised or chutney with the samosas and tikki. The dessert was a kind of a fruit salad which was frozen when we asked for a second one. The food was expensive for what it was and was typically like a curry house definitely not for the Indian palate. The service was slow and there were only 2 people serving. I would not go again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you like going to a typical curry house!!

Used to go here all the time when I lived in the UK, the food is absolutely phenomenal. Massive portion sizes too, for 20£ you'll have enough food to keep you sated for days. 10/10, I miss being able to go here

It was appalling to see these inside the ladies toilet. I visited the restaurant with my 2 year old child and was lucky to not have taken her to the toilet. It was a complete disaster. The food and service was 10/10 but pricing was quite high as compared to the portion size. But completely disappointed by what I saw in the restroom. Honestly I have not come across something of this sort even at the most basic places. Massive health and safety issue that needs to be addressed immediately.

Patri is amazing! There were 5 of us and we ordered the huge sharing plate and it was delicious. Everyone who worked there were super friendly and attentive. I was recommended this place by a friend and it didn’t disappoint. Not least the fact that all the food plus three bottles of wine was still until £50 per person which for London is incredible.

Vibe and atmosphere is very nice but Unfortunately, both the Paneer Butter Masala and Daal Makhni were rather disappointing. The Paneer Butter Masala lacked the rich, creamy texture and vibrant flavors we've come to expect. The paneer itself was slightly tough, and the gravy was thin and lacked depth. The Daal Makhni was similarly underwhelming. The gravy was bland and didn't have the characteristic richness and creaminess. While both dishes are usually crowd-pleasers, this experience fell short of expectations.

The best Indian food place I have been in London! This compliment comes from an Indian who lived most of her life in India- surely I know exactly what the authentic taste is!! Just pure bliss! Will definitely come back

We absolutely love Patri and as always, they did not disappoint on this visit either! We ordered pani puri for the first time as a starter and we were kindly shown how to eat these surprising little gems! I highly recommend Patri - wonderful local gem.

Definitely recommend! This is a place that offers a lot of options that you wouldn’t usually get in a British Indian Restaurant. This has a variety of vegetarian and meta dishes as well as dishes with varying levels of spice. I recommend the Kebab Curry with mixed meat as well as Murgh Malai Tikka and Don Chaat. It was all really good. The only drawback is some people might find the place small of a little pricey, it is about £30-£40 per person.

Sadly, the food let's this place down. Whilst the flavours of most are good, the content of the meat and fish dishes are questionable to say the least. Our table ordered a fish curry, and the pieces seemed to be 90% batter chunks with barely any fish content inside at all. Additionally the lamb mince kebabs were definitely not composed of authentic minced meat, as they could be mashed with a fork! Disappointing, and hopefully they take on board this criticism, as it's the wrong place to try and cut costs. Quality of food ingredients should be the finest, then this could be considered a good restaurant.

Really great vegan options here. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful which is always reassuring. The one minor issue was my vegan dish (samosa chaat - definitely recommend, absolutely delicious) arrived way before the rest of the dishes/sides so was cold by the time everything else arrived which was a shame. Still, food gets 5 stars even cold, couldn't fault it and will definitely be back. Also great cocktails.
