Khao Thai in Richmond upon Thames

I am rather critical and picky at restaurants! But this place surprised me very much! Looking quite small, dark and dingy but the food was exceptional. Even my relatives who are also rather hard to please were impressed! We ordered the fish, aubergines, massaman curry these were outstanding and delicious. Plain noodles for the kids, salt and chilli squid and then salt and chilli tofu was very flavoursome. Am definitely returning here the chicken coconut soup was particularly delicious though the chicken pieces were very tough, dry and chewy I didn't eat the chicken but interestingly this did not ruin my experience as the soup taste was magnificent. I was pleasantly surprised that the huge chunks of chicken in the curry were actually moist, succulent and almost melted in the mouth - total contrast to the thin strips of chicken from the soup! I really liked this place!!! Can't wait to return!

The noodle dishes were excellent, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We also had the Thai green curry and jungle curry, which were both very tasty. The jasmine rice and sticky rice went well with them. The staff were friendly and helped us choose our dishes. A big plus is that the chicken is halal. Overall, the food was delicious, and the service was great. Highly recommend!

My wife had a "hankering" for Thai food on a Saturday lunchtime after grocery shopping, our local restaurant isn't open for lunch so Google Maps offered two suggestions; we chose Khao Thai because it was next door to her "tanning salon" (go figure). I believe that "fate" wanted me to dine here; there were several dishes that I was familiar with but tend to be only available in upmarket restaurants, there was one dish that I'd never encountered before so "challenge accepted". Every dish we tasted was subtly flavoured and layered so that each one could be individually tasted. We ordered several starters as "tapas" and a main dish to share. Our server "Af" was very helpful and informative when choosing dishes, his suggestions proved very tasty. I will definitely return for an evening meal

Food tastes good but below things matter more- We visited this place last Sunday with friends, and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. One of my friends has a egg allergy, so we specifically informed the server not to include eggs in any of our dishes. Despite this, our vegetarian dish arrived with scrambled egg few minutes later! Had we not noticed in time, this could have led to serious health consequences. It’s shocking that such an important dietary request was completely ignored. How can a restaurant be so careless with food allergies? To make matters worse, they still had the audacity to add a 10% service charge to the bill after such a negligent mistake! Truly disappointing. Cherry on the top- I saw another server holding water and wine glasses FROM INSIDE, which raises serious hygiene concerns. Would not recommend this place—poor attention to allergies, hygiene, and overall service.

Wow! Everything was splendid. From the chicken satay, wontons, duck & massaman. No faults.

La berenjena era una porción muy pequeña y muy aceitosa y la ensalada era ridícula. No había papaya y dos cacahuetes. Estaba literalmente flotando en el vestidor y costó 11 . 50 . Llamé al restaurante y me dijeron que le dijera a Uber Eats ¿Por qué? No lo lograron. ¡Se negaron incluso a un reembolso parcial!

This is the second time we came to the restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is top. Af was our waitress and she was very nice and helpful. Our kids love the pineapple rice and we love the panang curry. And we absolutely love the sticky mango rice!! This place is highly recommended to come with family.

I had an amazing experience at this Thai restaurant. I ordered the green curry, drunken noodles, and papaya salad — all of them were bursting with authentic flavours and perfectly balanced spice. The presentation was on point too, everything came out looking as good as it tasted. The service from Nee and AF stood out as well, with the team being super attentive and friendly, making sure everything was spot on throughout the meal. To top it all off, the cocktails were just as impressive. I tried the One Night in Bangkok and it was the perfect mix of refreshing and punchy, a great complement to the food. Overall, fantastic spot for anyone craving proper Thai food with great vibes and even better drinks. Definitely coming back!

Food was nice and as expected. Ordered lamb shank massaman and chicken massaman. I would expect to see more options for the curry like beef, normal lamb and prawns that would be priced between the chicken and lamb shank. Lamb shank is lovely but pricey. Service could have been better as there was no condiments. This is usually a common practice in many other restaurants though. Overall, this place is OK value for money.

We generally come here on a Friday evening and enjoy some regular favourites: Starters: Chicken Satay, Salt & Pepper Squid, Crispy Aromatic Duck with Pancakes. Mains: Red or Green Chicken Curry with Jasmine rice. Food is always tasty with good portion sizes. Service is friendly. Nice buzzy atmosphere on a Friday night without being overly noisy.

Ordered for delivery. Disappointed as the price is not cheap. We ordered a total cost of £50 for two soup, spring roll and fish dish. Change the packaging for soup into bowl or deeper container. The lemon grass and ginger were all hard and can induce cough if swallowed. Tom Kha is flavourful but again small quantity. Spring rolls had more vermicelli than mushroom. The fish was good.

Just the salad was good enough. Rest was mediocre compared to local other Thai restaurants. Prices are very high compared to what you get. Service non existent. Atmosphere non existent with spanish music playing?

Totally blown away by the flavor profile of the dishes and also really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant - spacious and comfortable while the waitresses were friendly and welcoming too! I was so shocked by how good the Tom Kha Gai was, so refreshing and opens up your palate for rest of the dishes well, just enough sourness and bit of sweet with a subtle kick from the chilli. Prawn cake were fab and the glass noodle was good too, could be a bit more spicy for my liking but was good overall! My pics didn’t do its justice but highly recommend this place!!

Sweet & sour chicken was dry without the sauce and only glazed this was disappointing. Pat Thai was without authentic flavour and seamed to be with siracha sauce. Only one amazing was a papaya salad however portion very small for the price

A lovely place in Twickenham where you can try delicious Thai food. The staff is very good and friendly, always with a smile and spreading good vibes. First came across this wonderful restaurant on Uber Eats and had the pleasure of going in person to dine-in! The staff are welcoming and friendly, as the service is efficient and excellent. The food was delicious - whether you takeaway or dine-in. Portion sizes are good, especially with the mains. The mocktails and alcoholic beverages are also good in size. Highly recommend and will come back for more!

Came at 5pm on a Monday and the food was delicious! We had the mixed veg started and satay chicken, then basil chicken, cashew chicken, egg rice and plain noodles. The two chicken mains were the standouts absolutely brilliant. Lovely music and decor in the restaurant. Would definitely come back!

Every morsel was delicious. We (3 of us!) shared vegetarian mixed starter and then stir fried cashew nut, stir fried basil, plain noodle and egg fried rice. We did ask for a few extra cashews as they were sparse. We ate early so were the only ones in the restaurant but it was still a nice atmosphere with pleasant background music. Would definitely return. Bill with a bottle of rose was just under £90 A treat but not extortionate. 👍🏻

Had been wanting to try this place since a while. Finally did it today and I am glad I did. The food was amazing. Restaurant has very polite and smiling staff which makes the dining experience even better. Their mango sticky rice is an absolute do not miss dessert. Definitely going back.

Authentic Thai delicious food at its best. Great service and staff. I love their sweet and sour chicken which was the right level of sauce without to sticky and watery, and I had coconut rice was delicious, however, the combination of the two was very filling. The coconut rice was perfect and not a bit soggy, but this was great and you could taste the flavour of the coconut.
