Khao Thai in Richmond upon Thames

Came here for my birthday with family and friends. Food was served quickly and was excellent including vegan options for my daughters. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only negative was there didn't appear to be any air-con and it got uncomfortably warm.

Really great customer service and an amazing ambience in the restaurant which complements to the thai culinary cuisine which was executed exceptionally by the terrific chefs.

Food was good all around, only the beef dish we ordered was really chewy and almost inedible. Service was a bit slow but they were really busy.

Food was delicious as always, the food was not too spicy, would really recommend papiya salad or som tam - one of my favourite Thai cuisine. Service was a little bit long of a weight but waiters were really nice and friendly towards us. Atmostphere was alright nothing special really. Overall enjoyable experience..

I don't expect super authentic Pad Thai from any takeaway, but this has to be THE WORST I have ever had. Didn't taste anything like Pad thai, overly sweet, chicken was tough. Just wrong. Sorry I wasted my money on this.

Amazing food and service definitely recommended

Perfect dining experience and the best Thai food I've tasted in my area. The servers were really nice, but did seem a bit stretched when it got busy, so maybe could have done with one more staff member. All the decor is really well thought out and unique. Then the food was exceptional and good portions for the price.

First time visit to Khao Thai…Delicious foods.. great service…papaya salad / Thai tea / curry and crying tiger grill are my favourite very tasty .. highly recommend .. definitely go back ..

Ate here for dinner and had such an excellent experience! Really tasty authentic Thai food with a varied and reasonably priced menu. The crying tiger steak was incredible and the som tum was some of the best I have ever had outside of Thailand - they even made it extra spicy on my request. I particularly enjoyed their selection of fun cocktails, which were delicious as well as impressive to look at. It's a small family-run business so the vibe in the restaurant is cosy and welcoming, and the service was on-point and really friendly. Can recommend this place for a fun dinner out, and I will absolutely be coming back!

The food was delicious and came out very quickly. My favourite was the salt and pepper squid - highly recommend! I also loved their green curry and pad thai. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Nice atmosphere over all. Will definitely have to come back.

Visit this cosy Thai restaurant over the weekend and absolutely loved it! The food was really delicious and full of flavour! The Christmas decor was beautiful too🥰 would definitely go back and try new dishes off the menu!

We have visited Twickenham many times, and this was our first meal at the Khao Thai restaurant. The food and service were simply fantastic. Starters, main courses, and dessert were all served hot and super tasty. The two members of staff were so happy, friendly and welcoming 🙏. Thank you for a great evening. Spent time ordering online ,only to find it says they do not deliver to my area . Richmond !! Reading other reviews i did not bother ringing to confirm. Maybe you should sort that out !

Great food, attentive service & fabulous cocktails!

We went their during Diwali and it was the most ideal place to be away from all the noise due to festive occasion, fireworks etc. Lovely cosy place with delicious food 👌 . Would definitely visit again 👍🏼

I visited the restaurant with my family for lunch and I will come back. Nice atmosphere, delicious drinks and food, service is perfect, I have some food allergies that were treated seriously and respectfully. The restaurant is also baby-friendly, they give my 6mo stream rice so he could enjoy the food as well. Thank you for the experience

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! The food is here is so fresh and incredible! Really good sized dishes! Staff was so friendly and lovely and the house rosé wine is very very well priced and really nice to drink! This is has to be one of my favourite restaurants. I had it delivered before but highly recommend eating for the full experience. Also the prices are incredible for Thai food. I find Thai restaurants usually have super high prices but Khao Thai is one of the best prices I’ve seen and definitely the best Thai restaurant I’ve been too

Ate here on 17/09/23. Cosy feeling restaurant, which was empty when I got there. Having driven from Reading to meet up for lunch for my daughter's upcoming birthday, I was made to feel welcome while I waited for her and and her partner to arrive. Lady was friendly and offered advice around parking on Sundays., so they got to park right outside! Order was taken, and brought out in a good timely manner. Loved the food!! They were accomodating, for two vegans and an omnivore, and the food was beautiful! I'd say that maybe add a few more vegan friendly options, and I think you'd have frequent repeat customers from them both and their like-minded friends!!! The lady said at least now I know about the free parking on Sundays for next time... I would actually make the effort to come back again to lunch with my daughter! Thank you all!

My favourite Thai restaurant around Twickenem

Ordered take away (Pad Thai and Tom Yum curry). Both were very nice and the food was delivered quickly. The only negative was that the portion sizes seemed quite small.

We visited Khao Thai after the England - Wales rugby match. They were extremely busy! Despite how busy they were, the food came extremely quickly and was delicious! The staff were kind too. We would definitely recommend Khao Thai and will visit again next time we are in Twickenham!

Have been here for dinner on last Sunday. The place was a bit busy. Lovely little place , a real gem. A really good green curry which was recommended by Knee (waitress said this is her name!) ! Great value and very friendly staff.

Ordered from Khao thai seeing they had good reviews Unfortunately did not meet our expectations as both flat noodles and the kind prawns had peppercorn(black) on them which has this intense smell, the drunken noodles or any flat rice noodles ive had previously in thai restaurants have never had this so assumed it won’t and the Description did not mention either. Pad thai was also too sweet. The only pro was it got delivered earlier than expected, the portion was reasonable altho the king prawn (£17) for 4 prawns was overpriced, very disappointed with the order and unfortunately will not be ordering again

Went here with the family a few weeks ago and it was amazing. Ordered the tom kha with chicken which was very authentic. Chicken and prawn cakes and the pad see iew were other highlights. We were served by nee who made sure to accommodate all our needs - and even got us mango sticky rice as a special request (10/10). Tip - order the Thai iced tea!

Love this place. Ordering directly from their website gives you free delivery, no ‘service fee’ and delivery faster than any of the dedicated food delivery services. The food is always great and I think it’s pretty reasonably priced. There are several Thai places nearer to where we live, but we always come back to Khao Thai.

Had a good lunch, service was very quick, however we did not feel a good welcoming from the staff maybe because this was toward the end of the lunch service, we arrived around 13h30.

The food here is incredible you will not leave hungry or disappointed! The prawn cakes were made to perfection and the fried tilapia was delicious. Very reasonable prices and friendly service. Highly recommended if you’re in the area

Came here for my birthday meal at the weekend and we all really enjoyed it. The food was fresh and delicious, the staff were very friendly, and the restaurant is very nice. We were the only table in, but we never felt awkward. I recommend the Thai iced tea, it was so refreshing! Meals were quite pricey, but worth it for a treat. I look forward to returning soon ☺️

Very disappointed with the take away. The duck was basically a box of bones and dry meat it went in the bin. Won’t waste my money next time will order from somewhere else’s.

Came on a Sunday Dinner schedule. Absolutely delicious mains, really authentic and flavourful, great portions. Starters were acceptable but smaller and pre-prepared. Service was excellent and attentive, welcoming. Cocktails very hefty and healthy, well worth it. Fairly quiet but that is solved by more of you getting in here. We will be back

Easy to use website, food was delivered fresh and hot in the space of just 15 minutes and tasted delicious. Wonderful that there are some companies out there that recognise the importance of good customer service.

Visited here last Friday and was super busy so book in advance. First time here and the food was delicious although the Pad Thai was slightly on the sweet side. Overall amazing food, nice ambience and really nice staff. Can't wait to return.

The best food in Twickenham ,Little gem

Khao Thai opened up in a spot that has not been too successful over the years. I did wonder if Twickenham needed another Thai restaurant, given there's the excellent Sopa in Strawberry Hill, another on York Street (which I've not been to since the last refurb) and of course, the Albert. However, the food here is really good. Since Sopa went upmarket, it and Khao Thai are probably on a par for authentic, quality Thai food in a nice environment. I've been, mostly with the kids (8 and 4) about five or six times and have yet to be disappointed by anything. The only downside of the place is the awful music they play. They play those awful cover versions where they pick a well-known song and destroy it with a downtempo version, presumably because they are royalty-free. I would rather sit in silence. I'm tempted to knock a star off because of this, but I think that would be unfair.

Premium prices but sub par experience. Lamb dish was very stringy..chicken dish was OK. Service needs improvement as with just 50% occupancy..they could not manage

I had a medium rare experience. Basically if a restaurant is not full on a Friday evening, it usually is a sign. So other than my family, there were only 2 other tables. With 3 waiters there should have been more than enough to check in on us during the meal. They didn't. My steak was more rare than medium rare and was cold on the plate. As I'm on a special diet I couldn't enjoy anything else on the menu like the delicious food my wife and kids were having. My steak was also tough. As I was really hungry I tried to just enjoy it but I should have just sent it back. In my younger days as a food critic, I certainly would have. Having given my feedback about the lacklustre experience to the waitresses, I would have thought they would given me a discount or even remove the cost from the bill altogether - I was offered a cup of tea on the house instead, despite already drinking one which seemed a redundant offer! I might go back when I'm not on the current diet but for the price we paid for the evening, it certainly wasn't worth my money. Maybe next time will be better?

I have eaten twice at Khao Thai and am looking for opportunities to go back (I don't eat out much as am vegetarian and although most restaurants have an option for veggies, its often just stodge). The restaurant food tastes fresh and the dish I have is the right level of spice and heat for my tastes. I also love their primitivo wine which is well priced and delicious. The staff see lovely and very helpful. Great addition to the high street and a worthy competitor to Thai at the Albert.

We had take away. Generally very good except the chu chi sea bass being very expensive dish was skin only not any fish, rest of the items were good. All the items were very expensive.

So glad we discovered this lovely restaurant. The food was amazingly authentic and really took us back to our time spent in Thailand. Delicious food, friendly efficient service. What more could you ask for.
