The Green House in Cheshire West and Chester

Came on a Wednesday evening and there was a fifty percent off food offer and everything was delicious. The staff was lovely too. Would recommend the cauliflower, the steak and the sea bass!!!

We were looking for a dog friendly tapas bar in Chester that was bookable, and we struck gold with the Greenhouse. Every dish on the menu was interesting and delicious, with plenty of options for pescetarians and vegetarians.The service was great, and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. We visited on a Thursday when there was an offer of a bottle of wine and three tapas dishes for £33.An absolute bargain! We only wish we live nearby

Really tasty food, freshly cooked, brilliant service, chilled atmosphere and reasonably priced. Mocktails also great! The menu is quite small but we still struggled to pick as everything looked so good. We chose 6 dishes to share plus bread and it was plenty for 2 people. We walked past Porto to get to Greenhouse and were so glad we hadn't booked there as it was rammed and really noisy, Greenhouse was so chilled and small so much more relaxing if that's what you're looking for. We'll definitely be back if we are in Chester again - thank you!

Absolutely amazing find! We visit Chester once a month on business and always are looking for good, reasonable restaurants! This topped it!! Very small, only a few tables, however, the tapas served was fantastic from the roasted cabbage to the beautiful king prawns it was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing 🤩 loved it and 50% off food on a Wednesday, we’ve found our go to eatery!!!

We booked a table for my birthday, A) because it is dog friendly but B) because the reviews painted a lovely picture. We were not disappointed! The hospitality was top notch. The menu was small but diverse and we devoured a good 6 plates between us both. Not to mention the Negronis to match. (It was amusing watching the amazing staff nip next door to get the booze). Finished the night next door, shout out the sister bar. If you can find it, it’s worth a visit.

Small restaurant with a good atmosphere. Very friendly.The tapas were excellent we shared scallops prawns onion croquettes ,chicken wings ,bavette and Padron peppers.Decided to have a negroni instead of dessert

Was so disappointed here. Have been wanting to go for such a long time. The food did not seem freshly prepared and did not look anything like the photos in the reviews. That being said the service was good.

I highly recommend this restaurant, the food is lovely. We had onion croquettes, padron peppers, roasted cauliflower and chicken wings, then a dark chocolate ganache with orange pieces for dessert. The staff deserve a special mention, they were very attentive and they were lovely. This restaurant is worth a trip to Chester just to go here!

Second visit and aside from the 'cheeseboard', we had a similar enjoyable experience. Apparently the drinks licence had not been renewed on time so we were paying the bar next door for the drink. They own the bar. A bit strange but no problem. Friendly service and a nice ambience, as it was last time. Decided to share the cheeseboard for dessert. A few pieces of cheese, some honey and some bread. I didn't want to spoil our evening so I didn't say anything but when we discussed it later, I realised that we'd both felt short changed. Perhaps time to try somewhere else on our visits to Alexanders in Rufus Court.

Absolutely fantastic food and a great selection of cocktails. Customer service was outstanding. Would recommend the mackerel and the chickpea fritters. 50% off on Wednesday. Will definitely be going back and have recommended to friends.

Wanted to take our son for his first tapas experience and we all loved it. Ate pretty much the whole menu between the 3 of us. Atmosphere was superb the 2 girls running the place were fantastic. Favourite dishes were the mackerel which I don't normally eat but was fantastic, cauliflower and the sautéed onions oh and the scallops. Loved it. Thanks girls

Astonishingly good food! Incredible dishes - each one was utterly delicious. The wine was outstanding too - we asked for a recommendation and it was yummy! I was literally licking the plate!

We loved everything about this place. Simple and small, lovely staff, great music and atmosphere, a small menu but plenty of choice and the food itself was really amazing, creative and SO tasty 👌 Not very expensive either but great quality. Really perfect for dates or mates, we will be back ❤️

Please please please come to this place. Absolutely everything I ate was bliss. The waitress was friendly and sweet, the chef was friendly and sweet, and beyond bloody talented. I am on cloud nine eating here, best experience in Chester for my entire life. FYI: it's literally off the beaten path, you have to go down the cobblestones for Rufus court

Enjoyed our vegetarian tapas and bottle of wine. Good choice, excellent service, price reasonable. Food very enjoyable. It was also comfortably busy even though a Thursday night, so good atmosphere.

Another great night here, food was superb between four of us we had pretty much all of the dishes to share each one was lovely Service was great as ever thoroughly enjoyed ourselves definitely worth a visit you won't be disappointed certainly not over priced as indicated in other review

Booked in advance for a Saturday in November and probably a good idea as small restaurant and it was busy. Arrived early and not a problem. We were happy to enjoy some home made bread and some nice wine before our reservation time. Surprised not many reviews on here but I guess it is tucked away in Rufus Court. We were going to the Stipe gig at Alexander's so this was the perfect venue for us. Perfect ambience, good lighting and cosy. Manager was very helpful and we chatted a bit when it was less busy. Food was superb, partner is vegetarian and there was plenty of choice. We had four main tapas and the Patatas Bravas. The Sangiovese was excellent at £25. 10% service charge was fair, we had a lovely time and hope to be back again soon.

Amazing pistachio cocktail and lovely food

Food is nice, a solid 7/10. But be aware: this place it’s completely overpriced. One of those places where 2 not fat people spent £100+ and left still HUNGRY. Much better options around the corner.

It was my first time eating here Wednesday just gone. We couldn’t have had a better experience from the first minute. The host was so lovely & welcoming. The food was unreal & if you like tapas this place has to be on your list. Definitely recommended to my friends & will be coming back again & again.

Stumbled upon this place after not being able to get in to nearby restaurants on a busy Saturday afternoon. What a find ! A warm welcome from April who was holding the fort on her own due to staff illness. The food was absolutely amazing, the Rose wine I recommend highly. There was an offer on for 2 plates and a glass of wine for £15 which we started with but added to as we enjoyed both so much. A nice touch, April ordered us a taxi as we were going to the theatre. I can recommend Greenhouse highly, we will be back.

Wonderful food, service and atmosphere. We were a table of 10 with mixed dietary requirements, I loved the mackerel croquettes & hispi cabbage. Good and clear options for vegetarians and gluten free. The food and cocktails were delightful and the waitress was amazing. We had a wonderful evening, where all of our various needs were catered for. A great find in Chester, very good tapas, we'd all happily go back.

Amazing night at the Green House for their reopening. Staff were incredibly attentive and the food was amazing! We will definitely be returning soon.

Had such a fantastic evening here a few weeks ago! We walked in as we hadn’t booked and Edyta was so helpful and able to fit us in later in the evening (with our dog).The whole experience was 10/10 and Edyta so hospitable throughout. Sauerkraut dumpling were a menu highlight!!

Delicious food and friendly service. Delightful for lunch or dinner. Recently took a large party here (including a professional chef) who all left impressed.

A little gem of a tapas bar tucked away from the crowds and well worth seeking out. We got a warm welcome from the friendly team. The food is a step up on the usual tapas offer with some more unusual and interesting dishes. We loved the Arancini, Smoked Mackerel and Beetroot Croquettes, Roasted Pumpkin and Feta.

It's by far the best European tapas restaurant in Chester. Thoroughly recommended.

Great food and wonderful staff, well worth a visit

Honestly really gutted, wasn't a single course we enjoyed. We got the broccoli cheese balls which were mush (which did taste okay) in fried breadcrumbs, the prawns which came with the shell on but still bland, the arancini were really dry, bland and needed sauce, and the steak was very tough, fatty and covered in oil. Even the bread was meant to come with red pepper butter and didn't. Portions were small, so we left hungry and went to Tesco's round the corner. Would consider going back for a drink but not for food.

We found the Green House by chance and are very glad we did. We had 3 tapas each and a pudding and all were fabulous - Extremely tasty, well presented and with fresh quality ingredients. Service was also friendly and efficient. Pudding deserves an extra mention both although on smaller side were absolutely stand outs - Raspberry Meringue with chocolate ganache was one of the best we've had. We will be back

Brilliant!!! Trust me and have the beef; it is a beautiful and indulgent plate of food! The service was great, chilled out and very friendly. We were having a course at different restaurants but decided to stay here for dessert and so pleased we did. The genache was awesome! Thank you!

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at Greenhouse. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be returning!

Thoroughly enjoyed our tapz there were 9 in our group everything was spot on. Service was excellent very helpful. when one of the group wanted gluten free dishes. We also had two vegetarians they plenty of choice. Would highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

Excellent, just tried out this new small restaurant in Rufus Court in Chester City Centre. Not sure where is the parking is, as we walked there from Hoole, Chester. It is tucked away around the corner of the passageway to Rufus Court in the historic centre of Chester inside the walls. Inside has a new feel and is clean and welcoming. They serve Tapas.

We had a small, impromptu meal here and were so impressed! The steak with truffle, Parmesan and rocket was amazing but the wine and service was the cherry on top!

We dropped in for some cocktails - in particularly the "green house". As a bonus there was live music (two guys and a guitar). Nice atmosphere, with prompt bar service- as others have said, a little gem.

Great tapas and value for money partic. on a wednesday where a bottle of very quaffable wine each is thrown into the deal - 3 plates, wine for £30. Real friendly for place, staff are really chatty and you can see chef is proud of his work. Popped in previously for Sunday night cocktails and thought to try the food Will be a regular spot from now on.

Went to try luck and eat Saturday at 17h. Restaurant close even when it said online it was open until 23h. No lights inside nor note at the door. Had to sadly leave with a bitter taste.

Just had a really disappointing meal here. The portion sizes were tiny even for tapas. The wait time in between plates arriving was unacceptable. And although only a small menu, half of the options were unavailable. The food itself wasn’t bad, but we left hungry. The patatas bravas in particular was embarrassingly small, it was just a streak of mashed potato on a plate and it had gone cold by the time any of the meat dishes arrived.

The food was presented very nicely. One staff member made us feel really welcome. When my friend asked a member of staff to stop spaying a spray because it was affecting her she was slightly unconcerned and we got the bill. Lovely atmosphere and location.

Exquisite Tapas, generous pricing and amazing service!

Put simply awesome. The fried Artichoke plate made me feel things that food really shouldn't - I'd highly recommend it among many others! The service was also warm, friendly and well-informed. A fabulous place to eat

Absolutely delighted we found this place, being vegan and travelling to Chester I found that as a city it isn't particularly hard to find vegan food on a menu but this menu stood out to me the most, and I love small plates as they are perfect to go along side cocktails, and the cocktails did not disappoint! The Green House cocktail was incredible and the espresso martini was amazing and was a perfect drink to go along side the chocolate pot dessert. The food was beautifully presented and the flavours were spectacular, some of the nicest food we have had! My partners seafood really impressed him. The only thing I would change is the size of the Bravas as it was delicious and I love the take on it but it was small and we wanted more! The decor and atmosphere were great, really to our taste, and we really enjoyed the music. Our waitress went above and beyond and was genuine and friendly. She let me know one of the vegetarian dishes could be made vegan for me and also advised us on places to drink after and gave us a great tip about a secret 1920s American prohibition bar which was amazing too and really topped off the night. Great establishment and we will definately be back!

The Green House is definitely my favourite place to bring friends if they are visiting Chester. If you just want to try a small amount or everything on the menu with creative cocktails - I have just tried the Spring Menu - the sea bass is devine!

Pretty good place...nice vibe and great cocktails. Tapas was good but maybe a little overpriced for some of the dishes like the crostini. Service was excellent and wines were tasty too.

The staff and service were great - especially April., but otherwise we were slightly underwhelmed. The lighting in the reception area was extremely harsh & bright and not much better upstairs. If you prefer subtle lighting and a cosy candlelit vibe, this place is not for you. The food was fine, but the portions were very small. We ordered patatas bravas, but instead of the traditional dish that we expected, we were presented with a thin slab of a "deconstructed" version. We literally had two mouthfuls each, which was tasty but disappointing. The biggest portion was the blood orange salad, and that was delicious. If you are planning on eating here, I would maybe have a snack before you go. I'm not a huge eater, but there definitely wasn't enough food to feel satisfied.

Absolutely stunning restaurant. This is a hidden gem in Chester. Originally visited just for cocktails ( delicious, fresh, original) but we were so intrigued by the food menu we had to go back to eat. The food is exceptional, it’s tapas but with a huge twist. The flavours in every dish were perfect, the presentation was beautiful. The staff are lovely and welcoming and the owners are so passionate about what they do. A new favourite for us

Food is fantastic, explosion of flavour in your mouth. Such beautiful plates and a beautiful space as well. The staff is so friendly and warm that you really don't want to leave that place! I recommend 100%! Loved it and will definitely come back

In one of Chester’s beautiful little areas The Green House is visually appealing inside and out. Great service, wonderful drinks menu and the food was absolutely delicious. So much interesting and varied dishes to choose from we got a bit carried away but not one crumb was left. My personal favourite has to be the olive ascolane & the scallops. If you fancy trying something a little different where the chef has a great panache for flavours and presentation then this is the place to go. A big thank you to the owners and staff for making our evening so enjoyable.

Went for a meal with my friend for her birthday last night and it was phenomenal! The food was incredible: really tasty and full of flavour. We had a variety of dishes and each one was incredible. We also tried the signature green house cocktail (and a variety of others) and they were so good. The waiter who served us was amazing, so polite and delivered great service. All in all some of the best food and cocktails available in Chester. Thanks you to all the staff: waiters and chefs for a lovely evening and we will definitely be back soon!
