We came here for our last night in Chester. It was not a disappointment. A short walk from our hotel, this establishment was cozy and warm, without being cramped. Our servers were inviting and friendly. The drinks were excellent and the food was fantastic. We saw on the reviews that the kabobs were recommended, so we both went with the chicken kabob and they exceeded expectations. The reviews did not give them justice. Perfectly cooked, juicy and seasoned to perfection. Yes, I just committed a cardinal sin in grammar, I used the word perfect twice in one sentence. Sue me. Better yet, send me back to Olive tree and MAKE me have the kabobs again.

A great location in the centre of Chester. The interior is lovely. The lighting and large glass front looking out onto the Chester street below is a wonderful setting for a meal. The service was great and the staff were very attentive. This place could be a real must visit in Chester. However, if youre looking for authentic ‘Mediterranean’ food, then I would certainly avoid the Olive Tree Brasserie in Chester. The food came and it was bland and honestly quite dry. Not a great representation of Mediterranean cuisine. Especially at the price point, you would definitely expect something a lot better in quality. A real let down. We only really have ourselves to blame though as our friends warned us against this place for the same reason. As well as plenty of reviews suggesting the food wasnt amazing. Its a shame because staff, location and setting are all top tier. Just let down by the food unfortunately and wouldnt recommend for that reason.

Great boozer with plenty of life

I recently went with my friends for bottomless brunch and we all had a fantastic time. Our main server was Louis, who was exceptional. Very quick, always polite and easy to get along with. The food selection we chose met our expectations and the drink were also very good. I'd recommend this experience and if you get Louis it is a bonus!

Good spot for people watching and street vibe off the balcony table area outside, bit warm inside for us. Disappointed with the meal in general. Ordered roasted root vegetables for a starter... roast potatoes came... queried with waiter and he confirmed that was the root vegetables. I roared with laughter, how hilarious. When I asked what would the greek roasted potatoes would be he confirmed it would be the same roasted potatoes! No carrot,parsnip or onion in sight. Chicken gyros for main, again disappointed. Chicken over done, lettuce in the gyros was limp and not very nice left half of it. Hubby had the spinach and feta pie starter it was nice. For main he had the pork gyros similar problem to mine sadly. Staff were working very hard and it was hot in the restaurant for them. We paid the bill and laughed at the roast potatoes sinario.

I have to start by saying that the Olive Tree was a lovely restaurant to eat at. Great atmosphere, smiling, friendly and helpful staff. The food we had was very tasty. You're probably asking why I have marked it down. I have holidayed in Greece for many many years and have eaten all the traditional geek dishes in restaurants and some in homes. I think it's fair to say that I would know what authentic Greek food should taste like. It is for this reason that I marked it down. Like I said earlier, the food was very tasty, quality ingredients, well cooked. Just not authentic Greek flavours.

Beautiful lunch setting. All staff were helpful and efficient. A big shout out to Jess who went above and beyond to make my grandsons lunch enjoyable and fun- she made him laugh, giggle and smile. Food was exceptional and we will certainly be booking again. 5*

Wonderful food and great atmosphere, the place was full and because of this the service was a bit slow so that’s forgiven but only 4 stars for service. Would I recommend…… wholeheartedly and without hesitation. Keep up the good work 👍

Lovely place ,staff very friendly, the food is another story ,me an my wife ordered lamb kebab it was basically supermarket meatballs on a stick ,my wife took one bite and past me her meatballs on stick I only ate it as I was starving ,and also had a sausage halloumi starter and the sausage was very grisseley, not impressed at all

We went here for Saturday evening meal. The food is very nice at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend the lamb Would go again, especially for the lunch menu. With it been Greek inspired plenty of veg and vegan options

I had a nice time for my birthday, my partner planned it and put in the booking that it was my birthday on the day and if there was anything they could do, but nothing was acknowledged and there wasn't a response. Which is ok however someone just letting us know would have been grand. The food was nice and came out very quickly. The servers were nice however we were waiting for a long time for our table to be ready and a couple with the same booking who came in late was seated before us. The drinks were nice.

3rd visit over the years . Food was great and served quickly . Jazz music in background but we would have prefered greek music . Good deals in Jan as we were given a 50% off food menu . We will return .

Had late Sunday lunch hear and have to say it was lovely. This is the 3rd time we've visited over the years and it never disappoints. Service is fantastic. Highly recommend a visit next time your in Chester

Had a Sunday roast here, just my wife and myself on the 6th Jan 2025. I paid a little extra to have all 3 meats on offer. Food was amazing, service was excellent, attentive staff without being pushy or over the top, did a wonderful job. Cornish cider was lovely too 😋 Thank you for a lovely time away from the snow and ice !

Found the food average the lamb kleftiko was covered in bisto gravy the wine was a very cheap shiraz we will not be returning

Our party of 8 went for dinner on the January 50% off food deal.All I can is what a great meal it was . No cutting back on portion sizes or quality.This was the real deal.Grabit while you can.

We had another excellent meal here. Even though it was busy the service was very good.

Had a meal here 30/12/24 as we were sending a few days in Chester. The restaurant looks great and we found the staff attentive and friendly. We had the mixed grill which costs £49.95 for the 2 of us. The meat was lovely but it lacked enough salad, think there was 2 little tomatoes and few bits of rocket and only enough tzatziki for one. It was however over loaded with chips of which we aren't great fans, it was over facing and the couple on the next table, also having the mixed grill agreed and we all left the chips. Not sure it warranted the price. Was a little shocked to find when we got the hull that £7.50 service charge had been added. Think this is a little cheeky as we like to tip accordingly. We were advised this could be removed but as it was Xmas we paid it but will know next time.

The value for money was excellent. The deals they have on, particularly mid week are amazing. Highly recommend this place. Definitely be back 👍

We celebrated an anniversary at the Olive Tree. The food and service were brilliant. Loved the place and will definitely be back. Bradley, the manager was very attentive and made the night special.

Fantastic value for money, we had gyros and a few appetisers shared between us. Great service, staff very welcoming and great for vegan/alternative options.

If you have allergies I would definitely say avoid. We had checked before and they said fine, turned up and said no. Pudding was a joke as one waitress said one thing and another something different. Made me very anxious eating there. Not sure why restaurants can’t get a grip with the basic food allergies. Also felt like we didn’t have a waiter and had to really fight to get anything ordered as no one came to check on the table.

The chicken kebabs were delicious, would highly recommend 😋

Really nice food and atmosphere, I had a fillet stake which was better than any steakhouse I have ever been to. Only thing was that in the minute that our starters had been taken away, our mains were already being served. Staff were asked about this and we were told that the chefs often get bored on days such as ours where it isn’t busy and go through orders pretty quickly. What was nice though is that the member of staff that was asked about this issue did then put the next two drinks that we ordered on the house.

We had the gyros on the lunch menu, great value for money.

Amazing lunch here today! A very nice looking restaurant, fantastic food and great service. Gyros, chips and a drink was cheaper than just a Gyros from the Xmas market! Will definitely be coming back to try some of the other food on the menu.

The restaurant was busy and the staff seemed a bit confused. They forgot one of my friend's dish but apologised and took it off the bill. The food was good this time, but not as good as the last time I visited. Mocktails are delicious.

This is quite a nice place to eat but was let down by a few things. The hygiene wasn’t great - the table we sat at hadn’t been wiped down and there was food on the seats. Whilst the service was very good the meal we had wasn’t great value. The shared grill platter which cost nearly fifty pounds for two was made to look like a huge offering which was mainly because there was a huge bed of chips propping up the rest of the food. There was plenty of meat for two but the Greek salad was wholly lacking. Two tomatoes at best, no feta or olives. The portion of tzatziki was too small and the scattering of feta across the chips was very small and hard to find. The halloumi cheese hadn’t been cooked enough neither. I am sure this could be a much better place to eat if a little more care and thought is given to hygiene and value for money.

Visited here last Friday, early evening. Got to say this was one of the best meals out we have had and would visit Chester just to eat here again. We loved the food and all the staff were friendly and attentive. It was like being back in Greece.

Found it by chance, and would highly recommend going. The food was delicious.

Had a family wedding here..we were in our own separate room. Food was lovely and would eat here again.

Staff brilliant food was ok but not what we expected would not go again

"Bottomless brunch" offer is disingenuous due to egregiously slow service that must be deliberate, cynical, and strategic from management to limit the number of courses during your 90 minute sitting. Food and overall experience is otherwise ok, but loud when busy.

Incapable of getting takeaway orders correct, this is the 4th order which has been wrong. Wont try again, which is a shame as the food is usually pretty good.

Firstly, it was a Saturday afternoon, and the place was packed. It was therefore extremely loud. Particularly upstairs where we were seated. The large party next to us were clearly having a good time, which was fine, but add to that the intrusive music and we couldn't hear each other over the table. The food wasn't poor per se, but my burger was overdone and my wife's Gyros features a paucity of meat. The fries that came however were excellent when paired with the dip. Bottom line - it's okay, we probably won't go back in a hurry, but as a place to eat on a busy Saturday it served in a pinch.

We had a fantastic meal here on a Saturday night. A good central location on the rows, above Reeds Rains. Pretty lights inside and out gave a nice feel to the place. Friendly and attentive staff. We shared a huge platter. This was a main to share. No starter needed. We would definitely come again because there is an extensive menu with all the typical Greek favourites on.

Having visited OTB on a few occasions before we decided to come again. This time however we were disappointed. For mains we had a chicken and a lamb kebab, the chips were overcooked/burnt and cold when they got to us. The dressing on the top of the salad had congealed into a goo due to we assume being sat on the hot plate for too long. £19.95 for 4 cubes of chicken/lamb, burnt chips and a very underwhelming salad is ridiculously overpriced. The chicken kebabs served in the market for £6 cheaper are so much better in terms of taste, presentation and value for money so think we’ll stick to going there for our Greek food in the future! A second thing which we found a bit odd was listening to early 2000s dance/R and B whilst trying to eat our meal, I’m not sure Pitbull provides the perfect ambiance for a Mediterranean restaurant.

Friendly greeting on arrival , the service went down hill from there . Took ages to take our order and from ordering, the arrival of our drinks needed a reminder to get it delivered . Food was hit and miss , lamb kebab was meatballs and very dry and tasteless. Burger was good and moussaka was very minty. Will not return when there is such a choice in Chester

Came here for a night out and found this little gem by accident. The food was amazing and our waitress Evie was so attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend this place for great food and great service all at a reasonable price

Me and my husband are regular visitors to Olive Tree in Chester and the food is always delicious. Last night we went out with my husband's parents for the Tuesday 2-4-1 offer on Gyros and Kebabs. We ordered 2 x kebabs and 2 x gyros (the kebabs are about double the price of the gyros). The food was great, but things became very awkward when we got the bill. We got charged for the 2 x kebabs (and given the 2 x gyros as the free mains). We had expected to pay for 1 x kebab and 1 x gyros. When we raised the issue, the waitress explained that the system gives the cheapest mains free in the offer. We said that if we'd been ordering as two separate couples, we'd have ordered the 2 x kebabs and the 2 x gyros separately, therefore that is the basis on which we'd like to pay. After a period of the waitress conferring with a waiter, the waiter then came over and said "I understand you're struggling to understand our offer". We found this to be quite rude and unprofessional - and had to then explain to him that we would like to split the bill in the way we'd explained to the waitress. He went away and took a long time to do this, but eventually did - so we paid and left. The staff members became quite frosty with us and clearly felt that we were 'pulling a fast one' - so we left feeling unvalued as (long-standing) customers. In all honesty, the difference in the bill was not what we were fussed about - we understood that the till system is programmed in a certain way and that different interpretations could be made of the offer when ordering 4 x items - but the attitude of the staff in dealing with it has really put us off wanting to return as they made us feel like freeloaders. In this day in age, offers in restaurants and bars are really important to people because everything is so much more expensive but people's wages haven't really risen to match - and it's wrong to make people feel bad for wanting to use the offer.

Amazing food, great service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If your looking for a restaurant in Chester this place should be high on your list! Highley Recommend!!

Went for a meal with two others. The meal started off well I had the calamari and then the chicken gyros both items were very tasty, so couldn't fault the food, however the service could have been a lot better. We had to ask for another round of drinks, nobody came back to ask how the food was and most disappointingly we weren't offered a dessert menu or coffees. We ended up just asking for the bill and leaving. Disappointing end to what was a lovely meal to start with. Next time, it would be nice to see a waiter after the main course comes

Very nice restaurant, obviously very popular. We ordered the mixed grill for two which I wouldn't recommend for the price Vs food. Two single kebabs each with four piece of meat. Some cheese and a sausage served with chips for at least 4 people, a couple of pittas salad and couple of dips. Would have expected more kebab for £50. Perhaps we should have ordered individually. That said it was tasty just not great VFM.

I went to the Olive Tree last Sunday after watching a film at the Storyhouse. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly and there was a lovely chilled atmosphere, which was perfect for a Sunday evening. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely restaurant set in the Chester rows. Staff are very attentive and polite without being too overbearing, a credit to the restaurant. Service was quick but didn't feel rushed after paying the bill. Food was amazing and such good value for money. I emailed the restaurant advising it was my partners birthday and if they could do anything, they came out with a free cake with candle. It really made our evening. Thankyou.

Horrible food, I ordered a risotto and my friend chicken. My risotto was disgusting. The rice was like puree, and the chicken was very dry. Maybe cooked minimun 2 days ago. When I requested the bill, they included calamari that we ordered as started but never arrived at our table. And of course, they added 12.5% service charge without letting you know in the menu in advance. I will not back 100%. The only thing was the waiter. She was very nice. You can see she is new but very kind.

Sadly nothing good to say. Place is beautiful no doubt.. rest have no words me and my husband ordered the mezzes and 2 gyros Order came minus 1 of the gyros my husband spoke to the young man and he rudly replied well u only ordered 1.. he then disappeared then the manager I assume came said sorry shall I take your plate back while they did more food so i assumed they would do fresh plate.. Sadly assumed wrong 20 mins later they brought the food and gave my husband the same dish he had before which was kept under a heat lamp both dishes were barely warm and was cold inside meat well chicken was so dry I almost chocked we both couldn't eat it chips were cold and hard we both left all the food minus the starters so 2 whole plates of food pretty much untouched was so bad.. made matter worse we asked for the bill and the lady added a service charge if 5 pounds which is shocking as was no service they didn't even have decency to ask if food was OK as it went back with full plates .. never again.. like I said beautiful place that's about it... wasted good money and being forced to pay service charge as an insult. 45 pounds in the bin

After a long day in Chester, Olive Tree Brasserie was the perfect spot to unwind. Located right in the heart of the city, it has such a welcoming vibe. We were greeted with a smile and, even though it was a busy Friday night, we were quickly seated on the terrace for drinks while we waited for a table. The view over the city centre was stunning, and the outdoor heaters made it cosy. We didn’t wait long before being swiftly taken to our table. One of our group is gluten intolerant, and the staff were fantastic, providing a clear menu with recommendations that made everything so much easier. The Mediterranean food was outstanding. The gyros was packed with flavor, the moussaka was rich and hearty, and the lamb kleftiko was tender and delicious. The atmosphere was great, especially with the lovely olive tree as a centerpiece. We were so impressed that we returned on Sunday evening and ordered the exact same dishes! Great value, brilliant service, and we’ll definitely be back next time we're across the pond.

Four of us all ordered the mousaka. Disappointed. Hardly any aubergine or potato. Tasty lamb mince but not moussaka! Staff not interested and didn't pass comments to chef. Obviously all frightened of him as he was shouting at them .

an excellent late lunch out. at the time of our vist,mid afternoon, it was not too busy. five star friendly staff, Nichol, temporary manager from another olive tree was very helpfull. service was impeccable and a credit to the olive tree staff. ordered meatball kebab that came with half and half chips and rice inc a salad. other half had a chicken kebab with same sides. my meatballs were very tasty if a little well done. only thing i could think as not quite right. the portion sizes were huge! too many chips and rice for both of us but the place for big appetites! would eat there again :-)
