After a long day in Chester, Olive Tree Brasserie was the perfect spot to unwind. Located right in the heart of the city, it has such a welcoming vibe. We were greeted with a smile and, even though it was a busy Friday night, we were quickly seated on the terrace for drinks while we waited for a table. The view over the city centre was stunning, and the outdoor heaters made it cosy. We didn’t wait long before being swiftly taken to our table. One of our group is gluten intolerant, and the staff were fantastic, providing a clear menu with recommendations that made everything so much easier. The Mediterranean food was outstanding. The gyros was packed with flavor, the moussaka was rich and hearty, and the lamb kleftiko was tender and delicious. The atmosphere was great, especially with the lovely olive tree as a centerpiece. We were so impressed that we returned on Sunday evening and ordered the exact same dishes! Great value, brilliant service, and we’ll definitely be back next time we're across the pond.

Four of us all ordered the mousaka. Disappointed. Hardly any aubergine or potato. Tasty lamb mince but not moussaka! Staff not interested and didn't pass comments to chef. Obviously all frightened of him as he was shouting at them .

We stumbled across this hidden delight by accident and dropped in without a booking. I'm so glad we did, as the restaurant was lovely and quiet (early evening). Staff were helpful in making menu recommendations, and accommodating in making adjustments (half sweet potato and half fries were a game changer!) Portions were huge and reasonably priced. We were too full for a dessert unfortunately but would definitely go back again.

an excellent late lunch out. at the time of our vist,mid afternoon, it was not too busy. five star friendly staff, Nichol, temporary manager from another olive tree was very helpfull. service was impeccable and a credit to the olive tree staff. ordered meatball kebab that came with half and half chips and rice inc a salad. other half had a chicken kebab with same sides. my meatballs were very tasty if a little well done. only thing i could think as not quite right. the portion sizes were huge! too many chips and rice for both of us but the place for big appetites! would eat there again :-)

Prawn saganaki - Disappointingly poor. 4 prawns in it. Definitely tasted nothing like the authentic Greek dish. Sharing platter for 2 was ok, meatballs were dry and hard though. Board was mainly filled with chips. The service was good, friendly and accommodating. Restaurant wasn’t very busy at all although we were there early evening on a Friday. Such a shame because it could be a lovely place to go with a bit more attention to detail with the food.

Didn't eat here just had drinks. Really nice place with outside heated sitting area. Had a lovely glass of wine whilst we people watched. I would recommend.

Everything was excellent upto the point were the waitress told us the coffee machine wasn't working. This turned an excellent night into a good night that ended poorly. We were ordering 4 coffees and 2 desserts and cancelled both, resulting in a loss of revenue Not good for business 😢

We had an excellent meal with our daughter and partner. We shared a grill and a mixed meze as well as a beer or two. The restaurant wasn’t busy as we were relatively early in the evening however, the food was great and would definitely recommend it.

The food was bland and the beef was tough, tasteless..potatoes and root veggies uneatable, burnt and rubbery . Staff lovely and helpful The place could do with a good clean ..

Some of the food was very good, e.g. stifado but the plant-based chicken skewers, whilst having correct texture had no flavour at all. The baklava was odd, tasting like a mix of mince pies and Christmas pudding!

Food tasted like it was processed by a microwave. It was £18 for a Kebab that should have cost no more that £8 from a takeaway. Not quite sure how they get away with it. It was supposed to be food food not fast food.

Came here for the first time on one of my visits to Chester, and enjoyed a lovely Greek lunch here. Located on the upper level of one of Chester's historic Rows, this restaurant has a few outside tables overlooking busy Watergate Street. The interior is more spacious than I'd expected, modern and stylish, with rustic wooden fixtures and table tops, comfy leather seating, and even an olive tree at the foot of the staircase! There's a bar and clean toilets upstairs. I was greeted by a welcoming and friendly young waiter. A free bottle of water was provided for me to drink with my meal. There was so much to choose from on the menu, including meze dishes, gyros, kebabs and traditional Greek mains. Lots of choice for vegans too. I chose the beef stifado, with Greek style roast potatoes mixed with root vegetables. Service was quick, and the food was well cooked and presented. The bowl of beef stifado was piping hot and very spicy. There's a good choice of cocktails and Greek beers, but I opted for a nice Italian red wine (they don't have any Greek wine, according to the waiter!). The lemon bougatsa dessert was the perfect finish to the meal, very light and sweet, and served with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. There's also a great selection of liqueur and speciality coffees. Couldn't resist the honeycomb coconut latte, and it was delicious! The bill included an optional service charge. All together an expensive lunch, more than I would normally pay, but worth it for both the food and the attentive service.

Nice place, good variety of options on the menu. Small plates, tapas, main meals, sides. Vegan and vegetarian marked clearly and separate gluten free menu. Good drinks menu with cocktails marked if suitable for vegans and AF marked up too. Food was really good. Good portions and tasty too. Staff were friendly but only marked down on this score because of a slight issue. We would recommend and return again.

Visited for lunch with my Mum.. service was slightly hit and miss even though it didn’t look particularly busy. We ordered wine which didn’t arrive even though other people who had ordered after us had gotten their drinks, so had to chase that up and it was finally brought over. Most of the food was pleasant, but unfortunately one of our dishes was not fresh at all and tasted off (aubergine dip, it tasted fizzy!) - we let the waitress know about this who dealt with this really well and apologised and this was taken off the bill. Our first visit to the Olive Tree and unfortunately not sure we will be rushing back with so many excellent restaurants in Chester to choose from.

I quite enjoyed it. The food was great and atmosphere felt very European (in a good way). There are gluten free options which is great for me. The interior was really stylish, unlike many other places in Chester which can be trendy but tacky. This place was classy and well thought out. Would recommend! Scallops were perfectly prepared, and my main (lamb) was faultless.

We came here as we had a voucher as a gift. Unfortunately after coming on the first occasion and being told we couldn’t spend the voucher on a Saturday or Sunday - disappointing - we opted for a Friday afternoon. When we sat down it took 15 mins to order drinks and another 10 for them to arrive. For food we opted for the mixed grill for 2. At £49.95 we were expecting good things. After ordering, it took nearly 45 mins to arrive. It was ok, nothing special unfortunately. Pastourma sausage wasn’t good quality at all and very gristly. The kebabs were reasonable. Tzatziki and feta and caramelised onion fries were probably the best bit. We only had 1 drink and the food and called it a day. Shame, we were gifted a voucher as one of my family enjoyed it so much there and thought we would too but unfortunately it fell below expectations. The family member that brought us the gift voucher was really disappointed and said they won’t buy one again due to the issue of not being able to spend at any time.

We went as a group of 4, without having booked and they happily fitted us in. Food was fantastic, the best I've had in a long time and portions were very generous. Our vegetarian was well catered for and the deserts were outstanding. We will definitely return next time we are in Chester.

As a visitor to the area, choosing a restaurant can be challenging. The restaurant appeared to be a good option due to its central location and pleasant ambiance. While the restaurant was not particularly busy, we experienced a lengthy wait for our bread and olives, which was disappointing. Despite this inconvenience, the manager kindly offered us a discount to compensate for the delay. Although the overall experience was not entirely satisfactory for our group, we appreciate the manager's efforts to address the issue.

Food was nice and cocktails lovely however the service was below average. It was a mid week lunch time so was not busy at all only a couple of tables in but for some reason the service was extremely slow. Had to ask 3 times for drinks and the staff didn’t seem to be checking back or looking over at the table at all so had to go up to the bar if we wanted something. It’s a shame as the food is nice!

Irish Jack really looked after us for a special birthday meal. Wonderful service, overall a great meal and evening! Highly recommend.

Why are you putting 12.5% Service Charge on the bill? Your staff bring the food and drinks and paid to do so... so why add £8 tip to the bill when we are still in a cost of living crisis?

My husband and I (plus our 1 year old) had a fantastic Sunday lunch here. We both had beef served with beautiful veg and it was delicious. Generous portions, lovely classy but family friendly setting, and a much appreciated extra brownie (I took mine to take away). Thank you! We've already booked to go again.

Had a voucher for Sunday lunch for 2 with a glass of wine so decided to visit with my Daughter and partner who also had voucher. Shown to a middle booth in the window but it was really snug for 4 adults, however the friendly staff member moved us to another table. All ordered our wines, 2 red and 2 white. Arrived promptly. Starters of garlic mushrooms were enjoyed and halloumi fries/spicy beef. All delicious. Two beef and two chicken roast dinners followed, served with roast/mashed potatoes, cabbage, carrots, Yorkshire pudding. Very tasty with plenty of gravy. We were all really pleased with our meals/service/ambiance of the restaurant and will definitely return

Found the Olive Tree by accident on my trip to Chester and I’m so glad I did. The service was great Faye got us settled within minutes and i have got to say it was the best Kleftico outside Greece I have tasted. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

I booked a large table for my sisters Hen do to do bottomless brunch! Booking was really easy and our table was upstairs out of the way of all the smaller groups downstairs. The host recommended platter style tapas dishes that suited us and it was great sharing everything. Waitresses were really attentive and we got plenty of drinks within the time frame! Really good value for money and lovely decor too, thank you :)

First time here and it certainly won’t be my last. The Bottomless Brunch is great and I’d say one of the best I’ve been too. The food was great, service was great and the surroundings were beautiful.

We had an amazing roast dinner on Sunday! The staff were really polite and friendly and the service was quick. We booked a table for 5.30 but came in half hour early to get out of the rain, which was lucky as there were only a couple of roasts left at that time. I would definitely recommend and would love to return.

We arrived rather early for our reservation, just to check we were expected. We were greeted by two friendly members of staff, one of whom confirmed our booking, the other taking to our designated seats [20 mins ahead of schedule]! The ambience was good, so too the Service. The food arrived swiftly and was very enjoyable. A good experience all round!

Very nice Groupon Sunday roast offer. Had Halloumi starter and chicken dinner. Very good service but felt a bit rushed out tbh.

Ordered Lamb kleftico and obviously just warmed in microwave as outside hot meat inside cold took away offered another one said i didnt want it if was going to be microwaved they assured me not and came back 5 mins later with a meal that clearly was microwaved as steaming hot but meat cold in middle , didnt get charged for meal but mit the point

A really lovely raceday breakfast with the family

Visited with friends as have been before and the food is lovely. Again, it did not disappoint. Two of us ordered beef stifado and my other friend ordered chicken souvalaki. All were delicious and cooked to perfection. We ordered Lemon Bougatsa, as the waitress recommended it, it was lovely. Staff were lovely, attentive and chatty. We will be back,

We had the bottomless brunch . Absolutely delicious ! The small plates and drinks both topped up as soon as we had finished. Our waitress Caitlin was lovely. Will definitely be returning such good value for money. Highly recommended

We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The food was delicious and very generously portioned and the staff attentive in a relaxed way. Our only negative observation is that the tables were quite close together in the area we were sitting in. Otherwise a good experience.

Not as Greek as I would have liked but ok. The moussaka is small for the price and needed more seasonings and spice IMO.

Service was terrible. We booked a bottomless brunch and waited 40mins for our first drinks and food. Our waitress was called away and no one covered her tables whilst she was gone leaving several groups in the same situation and missing the first half of our bottomless though there were managers just stood around not doing much. When she reappeared we got good service but it still felt like bad value for money and left us feeling frustrated and ruining the atmosphere for us

I never give a 5 star rating as there is always room for improvement. Service and food was excellent, absolutely no complaints will return again and again and recommend it to friends and family.

Booked a groupon for Sunday dinner, two courses, and wasn't sure what to expect. From entering we were very impressed with the surroundings, and how friendly and attentive the staff were. The food was absolutely beautiful, and such large portions. I highly recommend this resturant

We visited Chester this month and had an absolutely wonderful meal at this restaurant. The food was perfectly cooked, extremely tasty and presented so well. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Awful place to eat, food was under cooked service terrible, zero customer service skills would not recommend to eat at this restaurant or any of the olive trees brasserie’s this isn’t the first terrible experience at one of these restaurants!! I would avoid eating here at all costs! Manager needs to change his attitude the staff need customer service training and chefs need to take more pride or just close the restaurant down!

Called in for lunch on my birthday. The atmosphere was nice, it was very busy but you could still have a normal conversation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great. We both had the chicken roast dinner which was very tasty.

Came here for a bottomless brunch on saturday with friends. They didnt have any music on but was full so didnt notice! Service was super fast, we had Caitlin who was lovely and helpful and gave us guides for the rest of our afternoon amazing! Thanks so much.

Came for a special family meal Very beautiful restaurant in the heart of Chester Staff very friendly but I’d say service is slow. Probably understaffed ? Sharing starters were lovely and plentiful. Mains were good although my pork kebab was dry ( I only had pork as usually the extra fat content makes it less so ) Overall worth a visit but a few tweaks required

We have never been to this restaurant before - but what a find! I’m always on the lookout for a deal so we chose here as it’s 241 on kebabs and gyros in a Tuesday. Four of us were eating- we had a mixed sharing starter which was excellent and the right amount for four of us. Two of us had pork gyros and two had chicken. Everyone was happy with their choices. For dessert we had a mango sorbet and a walnut cake- I’m told both were excellent. Ambience in the restaurant was good and the decor was lovely- I loved the fairy lights and the Olive Tree. Service was excellent- a warm welcome, and then Caitlin our server was just lovely. Thanks to all at the Olive Tree. We had a great evening and will return.

My husband and I ate here Saturday 13th April. We were sat upstairs in the restaurant. We ordered the Olive Tree Mixed Grill for 2 and had that between us. It was huge with tons of food. Huge chunks of meat on the chicken and pork kebabs. If If I was been fussy, I would say that the meat was a little dry to how we usually like it, but still excellent non the less. All staff we interacted with were extremely professional and polite. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely return.

Absolutely shocking. Bottomless brunch didn’t serve us for 45 mins.. food for a group of us 9 on a table only giving us 6 pieces of food. Utter joke. Drinks are glass for a glass but only for 90 mins which they waste 45 mins of. Avoid

4 girlfriends visited Olive Tree for a birthday bottomless brunch. We had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and free flowing and the drinks the same! We had a fantastic waitress (Jenna). It was an extremely busy restaurant, but all waiters were great. We will definitely be back!

Went with my son on Tuesday to take advantage of the two for one deal. We both had the chicken Gyros. Really magnificent and authentic Greek food. The bill only came from twelve pounds for both us! Felt a bit guilty spending so little but the friendly staff treated us as we had paid for a banquet! If you want authentic Greek food at a reasonable price I cannot recommend Olive Tree Brasserie more highly! My son and I will definitely be going back!

Hubby and I have not been here before. We really enjoyed the food. Tom looked after us very attentively. There was a lovely friendly atmosphere throughout our meal. We'll definitely return and tell our friends too.

Good food service and environment

Your staff were friendly and welcoming. It looked like you were training several of the team on the day but they coped really well. The food was tasty and well cooked, though we did find the sharing kebabs to be missing something as we found the dish a little on the dry side for us. Probably too many chips. Another dip alongside the tzatziki and garlic butter may have been helpful to moisten the pitta bread and chips. Probably just a personal opinion! On a very positive note, my wife and I were delighted you did not charge us for our glasses of wine, it made our 45th wedding anniversary feel just that little bit more special, thank you.

Food was okay but overpriced. The staff was just - awful! They all seemed to have an attitude, I am always generous and leave tips but on this occasion we just ate and left.

We had the bottomless brunch yesterday, with my sister and my mum. The service was fantastic, so friendly and attentive. I can not remember the name of our server I'm sorry, but they were so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. We also had who I think was the manager ask how we were, which was nice. Everyone else that came over and brought food was also just as friendly. Thank you.

Three of us visited on an evening last month, having called in for a drink weekd before. We all had a lovely evening, looked after superbly by Michelle and her staff, despite it being a fairly busy service for them. Starters and mains were delightful, especially the Lamb Kleftico and Halloumi fries.

We had never eaten Greek before and the meals were delicious. We were staying in the area for a few days and booked online in advance of our trip. We would certainly come again if we were in the area. Reasonably priced too, good atmosphere.

Disappointing meal as too many overcooked hard chips.

So, before I start, my wife and friends had visited a couple of weeks earlier and had a great visit- so maybe this was just a bad day. BUT, we arrived pre-booked birthday lunch. The whole restaurant was full of smoke like the extractor fan was out. Eyes were watering for the first few mins. We ordered, the starters arrived before the drinks. All the food was well off- think everyone left most of their own dish- and the meze starters went unfinihsed. There was far too much salt on everything: I had a burger that had been cremated in the stuff. There were dirty plates piled up on the tables around us. I actually felt sorry for the waitress (who was nice) as I think they may of been running on low staff. So it was probably the worst meal I've ever had anywhere. Would like to say something positive (like I said, the waitress was pleasant), but...

Service terrible. arrived early for table and asked if we was ok to have a drink while waiting for table, staff agreed then left us for 15 minutes and took no order of drinks.Booked private dining and dumped in the standard part of the restaurant. Was eating here with the idea of booking for a wedding meal of around 25 to 30 people. Enquired via email and still waiting for a reply.

Enjoyed our recent family getogether at your Chester venue Food lovely the girl who took our orders was lovely but left not long after we arrived after that staff not as attentive wrong order late food nothing major though My grandson ordered an adult main burger and my granddaughter ordered a child's main burger both same size but charged at different prices we did query this and my grandsons price was reduced but this needs looking at other than that we had a lovely evening and will return

On arrival we were greeted by a cheerful female member of staff who showed us to our table. A male staff member came over to take our drinks order. He had an overwhelming smell of stale smoke when he spoke to us that was extremely unpleasant. When he came back with our drinks we asked to place our food order. He asked if we wanted starters, I replied no thank you, he asked us what sides we wanted, again said no thank you. Once we placed our order he asked if we wanted onion rings with that. Again, I said no thank you. I don’t need to be asked 3 times for him to do his upselling. If I wanted these, I would have ordered them. It was a lunchtime reservation so didn’t require starters, sides etc. Once we got the bill it had a 12.5% service charge added to it which is extortionate. I asked the female staff member to remove this. At nearly £40 for 2 mains and 2 drinks with only adequate service I wasn’t paying an additional £5 for nothing. We won’t be in a hurry to return.

A great lunchtime with work colleagues to celebrate some Birthdays. Booking was really easy using their website; the greeting very good, and seated swiftly. We picked up on a special offer for the day we visited, and it's exceptional great value for some great food. This was our second visit, and we'll return again soon.

Excellent service and pleasant staff

This is a lovely Restaurent in a great position in the Rows in Chester. Third time we have been here on a Groupon. Had Sunday roast beef dinner, food is of a high standard but for some reason always arrives luke warm. If Restaurent wants to stay open suggest you serve HOT food with hot gravy as if you don’t won’t stay open for very long. Staff are young three stood around on phones, not a good look for a business. Would be a shame if such a lovely Restaurent closed. Just needs some love.
