The Green Dragon in Rutland

We as a family, have had two Sunday lunches at the Green Dragon, both meals were lovely. Staff are warm and welcoming, great choice of drinks ,all served in traditional and comfortable surroundings. Brilliant local pub. Thank you.

The sharing platter was so good ! Them candyfloss grapes 🍇pork pie 👌 plus the triple cooked chips on the side , and of course the Aspall cider 😋. Definitely recommend you try this @ Friendly village pub

This is the first time visiting the Green Dragon, so we thought we would have Sunday lunch. Outside - Nice seating area catches the sun lovely when it’s even warmer. Staff - On arriving the staff member who we met was lovely very friendly, as was the other staff members we met. Food - Was excellent in fact there was so much i could not fit in a pudding, it was piping hot, we had the pork which was spot on and very tasty. Price - Very reasonable for a Sunday lunch. Returning - Would we go back most definitely.

The Sunday Roast is great value. £19 for two decent courses is very good. Everything fresh, the meat was well cooked. The lager as an aside was as good as it gets. Hofmeister, helles, Bavarian blonde......spot on.

Was given a voucher as a gift so decided to get some food. The burger and chips came to me on a wooden board that had dirt from previous use on, also table was not cleaned from previous people so I was worried about dropping food as I wouldn't been able to pick it up and eat it, for £16.95 plus £1.25 for a tiny amount added cheese, I was expecting a good plate full but got a cup of dry chips, tiny dish of gross coleslaw and a 6 bite burger ....... just to top it off they decided to air out the pub while we eating so it felt like we sat outside..... Don't think we as a family will be visiting again. Very over price on everything. I rated the food as a 2 star and not 1 star as the burger was succulent, however the juice ran out onto the board and ended up all over the sticky table so I couldn't put my arm on the table to enjoy the last of my drink while waiting 20 minutes in the cold as the fire was lit for the family to finish their food. While sitting waiting, I looked around and there was a hairy dog sat with a customer in the dining room which in my opinion isn't the done thing for hygiene reasons.... Neither my wife or myself were not impressed with the plain tasting pepperoni pizza with unflavoured sauce. Also, it may have been a better experience if they had told us when booking the table that there was a private party in the bar and all the regulars would be in the dining room..... Took 10 minutes to get to the bar to notify them that we were there to eat and be seated.

Had a couple of drinks Saturday afternoon while the rugby was on. Great buzz a great place 👏

Delicious lunch, great flavour mushrooms. Just right for a tasty light meal. Lovely setting.. Quiet, efficient service.

Lovely village pub ..staff are friendly..allow dogs in which is a bonus as love to go for a drink after a long dog walk!

Menu was a bit restricted, limited vegetarian options and missing items. Pizza was very tasty and had a good range of beers.

All the staff were friendly and polite, so are the regulars who drink there. I will definitely be back.

We visited a few weeks ago, what a lovely experience we had. We was serve with our drinks bought to the table for us. We have since been several times and each time ordered different food. Not long to wait everything fresh and home made. It's lovely as the owners come as ask if everything is OK and will accommodate to what you want. This is a nice little gem we have found.thank you.

The green dragon is a true Gem. We had a fab lunch there. Service was prompt, food was excellend and the offering for my daughter was a very nutritious kids lunch that impressed us all. Cant wait to go back.

Not sure if this place has changed hands? Visited for lunch, chap at the bar made us feel like it was a terrible inconvenience as he already had several tables waiting. We wouldn’t have minded the wait for food, but his attitude made us feel very unwelcome. (We had rung before visiting to check if they were open for food and the lady who answered the phone said they were, hence the visit). Anyway, we left without ordering. Sad times they also don’t serve pizza at lunch time; when we visited before the pizzas were amazing.

We waited 1.5 hours for someone to take our order. They said they were busy, but seriously!! They never bothered getting our order at all. A lovely gentleman came out to apologise after an hour and said they had reservations booked , honestly!! It was not that big of a pub

We were warned there would be a wait for food unless we wanted pizzas, we were happy to have pizza but sat for an hour and a quarter after asking for service several times. Gave up and went elsewhere.

Lovely village pub which does a good range of pizzas as well as the usual pub fare: lasagne, gammon and chips, fish and chips etc. We didn't look to see if they cater for dietary requirements like GF though!

Excellent evening at the Italian night. I had the anti pasta followed by seafood linguini. Oh my goodness, it was seriously good and deserved a 14 out of 10 rating. Thanks again to the green dragon for a brilliant evening.

Absolutely the place to avoid , shocking service & the food is even worse.

One of the worst experience of pub grub ever, service was shocking even though we booked a table for an early time. Food was absolutely terrible, steak was nearly inedible, chips awful & a few bits of tomato randomly on the plate to try a jazz it up. My wife’s veg meal was cold (it wasn’t supposed to be). Needless to say wild horses could drag me back to this place.

Very poor service. Served with drinks at table for our 6.15 booking. Then we waited 15 minutes for food order to be taken. Food arrived 7.15 and was cold and almost inedible. Feta tart was tasteless and the pastry chewy. My husband’s steak was tough. We complained separately to staff, neither of us having finished our meal ( we ate only a little as we had no choice-we were starving by this time). We were still charged the full amount £35.95. Shocking

Was driving south on A1 and wanted to find a good spot to stop and get a bite to eat and a beer. Found it at Green Dragon. Pizza was excellent. Caution : they have an extensive menu but serve only pizza on Mondays. Will definitely be back

This was the first time I'd visited The Green Dragon, but my partner had been raving about how good the pizzas were, and they did not dissappoint! Best pizza I've had in ages, so tasty, plenty of topping and loads of options to create your own personal favourite. The place is small and was quite lively, but luckily we weren't after a romantic meal 👍

Friendly pub which makes home made pizza and great coffee.

Four friends called in for pizza night. The pub caters for local people and were just as welcoming to visitors. We took up a kind customer’s beer recommendation, which was a good one. The pizzas are excellent, thin base and good ingredients. There is a wide choice of toppings, and we were all pleased with our choices. This is a warm, welcoming pub, with great food and drink on offer.

A good selection of well-kept beers and friendly staff make for a great pub. However, the icing on the cake are the pizzas. They are delicious and all homemade to order with generous toppings and a lovely crispy thin base.

I have visited this pub a few times and have been impressed by the efforts the staff go to make you feel welcome. Pizzas are also a must try.

Friendly welcome from staff and "locals". Live music was excellent and the food, whilst not partaken, looked and smelled good enough for further investigation on the next visit.

A lovely village pub, with a very friendly landlady. And it even has some Viking runes in the stone fireplace! If you fancy a drink and a bite to eat, it's definitely the place to go

We stopped off for a quick beer while on a weekend away. We got this and much more. A lovely country pub with amazing, friendly customer service. We had a breaded shrimp starter and bowl of chips to share, they were delicious. Their specialty is pizza, and these looked great. We sat out the front on bench seating, next to the road, but it was quiet. Definitely worth a visit!

Fabulous meal as always, freshly prepared delicious food. We both particularly enjoyed their breaded shrimp starter. Great selection of gins. One of our favourite places to eat out, highly recommend to all.

This is a real gem in the delightful village of Ryhall. Debbie and Shaun are the most incredible landlady and landlord, just can’t do enough for you and make you feel so very welcome. Delicious home cooked food, laughs with the locals and great beers all await you here, go and visit.

When is a pizza a pizza ! Made by an Italian well not in this case ! A lady called Deborah ! Stone baked fantastic toppings and base is amazing ! Nailed it ! A beautiful pub set in amazing village !

We loved our visit to the Green Dragon this evening. The service was personable and we felt really valued and looked after. The owner remembered one of us was Coeliac and was highly accommodating and knowledgeable. The gluten-free pizza was exceptional, with a light base with lot of flavour. We would recommend this place for anyone.

Proper traditional English village pub run by local folk, serving the local community and anyone else that cares to visit.

We live nearby and will often rely upon the Green Dragon for a last minute booking when we don’t want to cook. Really friendly owners and staff. Super accommodating! We always take our pugs and they are so at home there. Great pizza. Stilton crumble is our favourite! A solid and reliable venue for a chilled atmosphere with a cosy vibe - especially at Christmas! Good job.

I was camped near this place last Saturday on way south. Campsite owner said the Green Dragon did some 'decent pub grub' so booked a table. On arrival I was not impressed with the selection of 'decent pub grub' but man, the pizza's! I have eaten pizzas around the world, including many in Italy - these were better. They have cracked the secret - keeping the base crispy and not soggy from all the toppings!! hand made dough and even the ham was home baked. It was so good, I booked the same campsite coming north again yesterday so I could go and get another pizza. I even got a takeaway so I could bring it back home today. You don't believe me - go and try it. And by the way, the staff are dead friendly. Wish this place wasn't 200 miles from where I live.

We ate here as part of the "eat out to help out" scheme, having heard about their great pizzas. They certainly lived up to their reputation. A great selection to choose from, with both 10 and 13 inch pizzas, plus other dishes on the menu. Puddings were traditional, homemade and tasty. Service was very friendly, we were made to feel very welcome

We had an amazing Sunday lunch here, food amazing the roast beef perfect...the gravy is homemade & delicious, the homemade stuffing with apricots is the best. They take every precaution in this hard time to ensure your safety, whilst still giving us a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere..must not forget the sticky toffee pudding was to die for.

We had some fantastic take away Pizzas from The Green Dragon tonight. Ordered over phone with Debbie who is very friendly and the turn around from ordering to being ready for collection very quick. In my view the best tasting pizzas in Stamford.

We had a lovely meal and drink. They are very well sorted with the government guide lines. Greet you at the door sign you in then show you to your table. It is table service. Really enjoyed it

A lovely local pub where dogs are welcome. The food is good, especially the pizzas. The beers is well kept with a number of guest beers to sample. Well worth a visit if you are In the area.

Went to the Green Dragon with some friends for Sunday lunch and between us had the beef, lamb, pork and chicken. All were very good, a reasonable price and served by friendly and helpful staff. We'll visit again.
