Friendly service, good beers and plenty and I do mean plenty of screens for sport watching. Small but brilliant for it.

We had a lovely time today. Cozy, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere. Great sports coverage. Fab staff and a good selection of beers.

Spent several hours watching the football and Rugby. Great beer, atmosphere and Pork Scratchings! Fantastic boozer!

Stopped off here on our return to Nottingham as wanted a good bar to watch football whilst enjoying a pint, great small bar for football, had numerous TV'S to watch from wherever you choose to sit, drinks prices were fair too. If we are passing through Oakham we will definitely stop here again

Every time we come to Oakham, we go here for a drink. Good lager and prosecco, revamped furniture is very nice too. Great sports bar for my husbands football. Extremely friendly staff.

For a pub that's hidden away in the Crown walk it is a little pub but it is a cosy welcoming pub very comfy seating and a TV on every wall so you can't miss any of the sporting action going on across the world friendly staff and a dart board too :)

Possibly the best pub I've ever been in - definitely the best sports bar. My only regret is not sitting on the bar stools - I'm told they were the comfiest thing since beanbags. Best place to watch Mo Salah bang in a beauty to go 2 up against Watford. #egyptianking

Paddy says this was one of the best if not the best pubs he's ever been in. Truly a superb venue for watching sports. There is a television on absolutely every possible surface, no matter what angle your head is at you can see the footie.

Best run pub in Oakham. By miles. Super responsive, super friendly, super clean. And all the sports on the 9 screens - not a bad seat in the house.

Visited Oakham last week for no other reason than we had seen it on TV and it looked like a nice place to explore.It is an old market town, close to Rutland Waters and we spent a very pleasant few hours, simply wandering, and taking in the sights.The highlight of our visit was, undoubtedly, lunch at the Crown Tavern. It is tucked away at the end of Crown Walk, a short arcade at one end of the town.It is very small but we managed to get a table, despite there being a constant flow of custom. I ordered scampi and my wife had a baked potato. The best scampi I have had for a long time, piping hot and very reasonably priced. Likewise, the baked potato. My wife said it was the best she had had, again piping hot and very reasonably priced.An added bonus was a small bar so a pint of lager `was much appreciated. This is a "cash only" establishment which may put some people off but, despite that, it is well worth a visit. 10 out of 10 from us.

We needed a bite to eat and to dry off so we found the Crown Tavern. It was a very busy Saturday lunch time- football on the TVs and plenty of bots quaffing Carlsbergs, but the bar lady/waitress was fantastic. Food- Vegetable Curry and chips and Cottage Pie with chips and fresh vegs were great- all homecooked , not a Brakes meal in sight.Lots of locals seemed quite at home and we'll certainly be returning and recommending this hostelry.

Great little pub with a good menu and friendly staff. Just paid £4 for a small breakfast, 1 sausage 1 beacon, 1 egg, 1 hash Brown beans and toast. Really good quality and well cooked. 10/10

Situated just off Oakham High Street among a row of shops in an arcade, you might not realise it is there. Food is served between 9am and 2pm according to the menu and in the evening it is a bar. We called in for lunch and it was very crowded so service was a bit slow. Prices are reasonable - our meals cost £7 each- and there were also specials,which were not on the menu but written on a blackboard,so there was a good choice and range of meals. It is not very big and fills up quite quickly but the atmosphere is pleasant enough and I would probably go there again either for lunch or a drink in the evening.

A little hidden away, and from the outside looks perhaps too much like a local boozer, but worth seeking out. Decent plain fare at sensible price. Cheerful staff, and what appears to be mostly regular clientele.

Good food, but we waited for some time as the bistro was busy. Good ambience, lots of locals. We would go again.

Fuimos a la taberna de la corona para una comida sencilla, bien preparada a mediodía. Salchichas, puré y verduras, carne, riñón, puré y verduras budín y cigalas y patatas fritas. A un precio muy razonable, muy bien preparado. Personal amable. Ocupado, un poco ruidoso, había tres televisiones jugando fútbol, no habría sido nuestra elección pero había sido recomendado, contentos decidimos ir y quedarse y comer. Barato, comida sencilla bien preparado.

Love the people and the atmosphere,not a massive venue but I think that is what is nice about it , the food is wonderful ,locally sourced produce and good value , you will need to book Sunday lunch though !!
