Popped in a couple of times during our weekend visit to Monmouth. Nice friendly pub. Clean. Would definitely use again.

The Green Dragon is an excellent pub just opposite Monnow Bridge. Very welcoming, 2 bars and good size beer garden. Good selection of beers, toilets were some of the cleanest and freshest we have seen.

A heavy cloudburst meant me and a couple of mates ran into this pub as we were staying in the nearby Premier Inn. Lots of TV’s all around showing footie and good selection of beers on tap so we gladly stayed for a few hours.

There is nothing special or fancy about this honest, down to earth pub. Its a pub with a lounge bar to one side and the bar at the other...thats all...and its quite refreshing to see! Went in a couple of times over the last week and enjoyed it. The locals were chatty as were the bar staff so you can't go too far wrong but don't expect anything but a Pub!

Popped in for a quick pint with my best friend New Years Eve. The pub has just undergone a internal refit and from what I remember from before and from friends who have visited prior to refit, the pub has gone from a typical 'spit and sawdust. pub to a clean and crisp friendly pub.

We visited this pub after a very poor experience on our first visit, I have to say what a massive improvement, there is a new Gaffer (Chris) and its had a refirb. We travelled to see family in the area and popped in and was so surprised with the new management, nothing is too much for them and they are very friendly, even towards the English, which is more than I can say for the last manager, who made a point of not liking the English. The beer is very good and the locals are all very nice, it can get a little loud from the bar but nothing major, it’s a proper decent little boozer. Myself and the gaffer had a good chat and even had time to talk about Aston Martin, of which some of our production is switching to St Athens, down the road. If in the area, I would highly recommend popping in for a pint, I never thought I would be bigging this place up this time last year. Good on ya Chris, Keep up the good work!!

In Monmouth for the week end saw this place and thought we would try it for dinner. Ordered a drink at the bar but the service was very bad ( only interested in dealing with regular customers ). The staff just ignore you even when returning the change for the drinks just handed the money while turning away talking to someone else. If we are in this area again this place will be a miss.

Having recently moved into the area we often walk by and never think to pop In to see what it's like. However the bank holiday weekends have given us an extra day to explore that bit more so we made sure we went in for a drink. The staff are very friendly and there is a good variation of beers, ales, ciders and wines to try. The menu looks good as well with plenty on offer at the cheapest in towns prices. We will at some point try the food here.

A local's pub. We had basic basic bacon and sausage sandwiches but they were well cooked. Main meals looked attractive. Only one draught bitter on but was very good. We consider the price of the bitter expensive but, I think, the going rate locally except for Wetherspoons. Service very efficient and friendly.

A friend said we should give it a try and so we did - we had the fish pie which was hot and served with hot chips and peas, we thought it a reasonable price for the amount of food we got, the staff were friendly and the pub was very busy a little too busy for me when eating, the eating area had quite a few people round the bar drinking, the area is clean and tidy, the service was good, all in all it was pleasant, good value and tasty

Not the best place for food, rather expensive for what you actually get, salad was limp and there was something sticky and gooey on the plate/salad or possibly potatoes. Food hygiene rating is a 3. Haven't seen in the kitchen myself but there was a smokey burning smell and no smoke alarms went off (worrying)

We were a party of 10 and had pre-booked a table/s at The Green Dragon. We had not pre-ordered food though. In spite of the kitchen having to cope with our 10 different orders they did a marvellous job!We were staying in the area as part of our Offa's Dyke walking week and were hungry by dinner time! The menu, it must be said, was more "pubby" than we were expecting (a bit "what would you like with your chips?!)....but, that was probably OUR mistake....although the evening was anything BUT a mistake! The food arrived....piping hot and plentiful!....and, of course, not deeply expensive! The atmosphere was friendly and the locals very tolerant of the noise a group of 10 people can make!Thank you Green Dragon....I'd come again!

We visited on a midweek evening whilst staying in the area after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. It's a small traditional pub and the locals were really friendly. The menu had all the usual pub fayre and was very reasonably priced. The food was tasty and hot and our two young boys were well catered for too.

We stopped by for a Sunday lunch and it was awful and expensive. The food was mediocre, roast potatoes too hard to cut through - very limited vegetables, no extras. The desserts were again awful - sticky toffee pudding was some sort of sauce on the bottom, plain cake on top and custard out of a packet with which you use boiling water. No wonder we get ribbed about British food if this is what is on offer, embarrassing. The barmaid/waitress was very pleasant but some of the locals were miserable and one was quite rude because he had to wait at the bar for his pint whilst I paid the bill! Friendly locals, I don't think so.

Due to stay here after a gig in the castle on the 17th of August. The day before, had a message to say that our room we were due to stay in had been flooded, and no other rooms were available. This had been booked since January, so why it was specifically “our”designated room I have no idea. Multiple attempts at contacting them by phone have failed. No other hotel rooms available in Chepstow at such short notice, and has resulted in us having to book a hotel out of the area and booking taxis there and back, so a lot of extra expense. Highly suspicious and extremely poor customer service. Think twice before booking here folks
