Shame I can't give zero stars. Restaurant took the booking, send an email the night before to confirm. We turned up place was well and truly closed and must have been for sometime.

We loved the food and the size of the portions!

Came in monday afternoon as a walk in and then found space to accommodate us. I was served by a young blonde waitress who was really helpful in explaining the menu as I’d never been here before. Food was amazing, will definitely be back

I came to the greek on princes avenue to what I thought would have been a lovely night with lovely food on Saturday… this was far from the case. Not only have the food portions shrunk and overpriced but I had to witness the chef screaming at a waitress who may I add looked like she was going to cry! Correct me if I am wrong but I thought I came to the greek not to hells kitchen, this is completely unacceptable and so unprofessional. Please talk to your staff and servers with some respect and be aware as customers we can see and hear everything! I would not recommend anyone to come here if you want a relaxing experience. You have lost a customer in me!

Had a fabulous meal. The food was cooked to perfection. Everything had so much taste. And it was presented very well. The service was excellent and the staff all had happy smiles on their faces. The restaurant has a lovely vibe to it with Greek music playing in the background. It was my daughter’s birthday and they popped a candle in her dessert which was nice. The desserts are delicious I chose the backlava it was freshly made. Definitely we shall be returning.

Not surprised they got Restaurant of the Year! Being a Greek from down south and staying up in Hull for the weekend. Wanted to see what Greek food was on offer. Wow, The Greek didn't disappoint. We had the sharing platter, halloumi fries and the Calamari. All the meats were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The staff where lovely and the restaurant well well-presented. If you're in Hull and you love good food check it out!

The negative reviews are really hilarious to read about this restaurant the place is absolutely brilliant the prices I think are reasonable and I never experienced any loud staff only time noticed staff was when they chatting amongst themselfs wich isn’t an issue and the certainly had manors I’m not anything todo with the Greek but if your going bad mouth a restaurant for no reason what so ever jog on kitty highly recommend both the Greek restaurants 12/10

How this is rated so highly is beyond me, the food was so bland and tasteless and there was no way it was fresh. The Halloumi tasted of absolutely nothing. The meat in the Gyros I might feed to my Cat.

Never been disappointed here! The food is incredible, which actually is quite annoying because it makes them so popular, so you have to book! Staff are always great and it won't break the bank. Get booking!

Where do I start! Amazing. Authentic. Friendly. It was our wedding anniversary and we felt really welcome. We had the mixed platters and it was delicious. Cocktails amazing selection. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.

Went for a Christmas meal with colleagues and the food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Staff helpful in suggesting what and how much to order (you can easily add to your order through the meal if you wish, so I chose two mezze to start and it was the perfect amount for me that night).

Rip-off by design. Exercise caution. We went as a family on Saturday night. Lovely food, (nominally) good value and a buzzing atmosphere. The waitresses seemed more keen on hanging around the bar than taking orders, but I don't discount the possibility that they were regulating the flow of orders into the kitchen.. However, wild horses wouldn't get me back They knowingly tried to rip me off, and a restaurant doesn't get a second chance when they conspire to steal money from me. We ordered a couple of gyros and a halloumi souvlaki, and we were asked if we wanted them open or wrapped: Open, we said. When the bill came they were significantly more expensive than on the menu. I queried it, and the waitress told me it was because we had the food 'open'. I made a meal of looking on both sides of the menu to see where it said there would be a surcharge (it didn't say it anywhere) and eventually the waitress sighed, tutted and said she'd bring the correct bill, which she did. She knew alright. There was no 'error': this was rip-off by design. What a shame. It is a great restaurant. But I'm not going to let these chancers try to rip me off again. They should be ashamed of their conduct, but they won't be. Caveat emptor.

A very good Greek well worth a visit

Great food fun place but like others have said they run out if menu items pretty quickly. For us there was no pita bread available. Yeah in a greek restaurant...go figure. Since this review it has gone downhill considerably..

The food was pretty good, nothing spectacular and the menu is rather limited which was disappointing. Not many options really, we went on a Friday evening which was busy, the menu says to ask for daily specials yet they still didn’t have any specials on, if they don’t have them on a weekend, when do they have them! Food overall was good, everyone was happy with their meal but still rather limited.

Wonderful. We booked a table here whilst Hull fair was on as a pre-meal for the cinema. Lovely little place on a popular strip of places to eat/drink. The service was amazing, the only thing which made it four stars for us was having to chase for additional drinks and paying the bill; everything else was perfect. The lavatory was in great condition too, very clean and tidy with a functional door/lock and lots of resources should one need to make some extra room for more food.

Great starters! Got a variety of starters to share and loved them! So tasty! Pretty resturant interior, lovely staff and the bill was a lot less than expected. Will be going again!

Absolutely divine! This great space serves authentic Greek food that’s cooked to perfection and tastes delicious. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. They’re also incredibly attentive. The space is small but really cosy and intimate. I’d highly recommend The Greek if you like authentic, traditional Greek food. The mastiha liqueur took me back to hot summer nights in Cyprus - Ευχαριστώ!

Me and my friend have started to try out different food places in hull. Honestly the greek did not disappoint the food was incredible, fresh, tasty and very mourish! We had a mixture of hot and cold meze plus dessert at the end and honestly it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating and also my main this is I was pregnant so couldn't try the cocktails and was offered an ouzo shot at the end when asking for our bill (I thought was very reasonably priced) however when I politely declined the lady came back with greek orange cake for me instead which I thought was such a lovely gesture. I 10000% recommend and I will definitely be back, hopefully next time I can try a cocktail or two and partake in a shot of ouzo 😉

Been a couple of times now and the food is always top notch 👌🏻 staff are friendly and it's good prices for the quality of food.

The service was nice but they messed up our order which initially took along time to make, then they over cooked my order so I had to pick something quick to make so I didn't keep everyone waiting rather than what I actually wanted

Tonight was our first visit to the Greek and will not be the last. We had a family birthday and half of our party was fashionably late 🙈. For this reason we had an issue with the food we wanted to order not been available for everyone which initially we was dissapounted with. The staff came up with a solution which everyone was happy with. I could not fault the food and the service was outstanding. Thank you for making the evening enjoyable and also for the birthday desert for my son.

We're in Hull for a concert and we popped in on the off chance after seeing this place on Google maps - so glad we did! We were lucky to arrive just after someone cancelled their booking and got the last table. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious!

The Greek is lovely place to eat. Staff welcoming and attentive throughout our time at the restaurant. Food is amazing, both taste and presentation. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Will certainly be visiting again soon. Highly recommend.

Very good. It was like being in Greece. Order your food and within minutes it's all on the table. Food was excellent and the service was brilliant too.

Service was okay bit of a mix-up with drinks but sorted. The food was nice apart from the calamari it was chewy because it was overcooked, and we complained, and it was knocked off the bill. There were a couple of things they didn't have one being olive bread as it was in the oven. The manager said he would bring some for us to try when it was cooked, which he did it was okay but couldn't taste or see the olives. Would go again, perhaps in the week, when it's not so busy.

Went as a party of 5 so split the bill between 4 of us. First time been there and was great, staff so friendly Will definitely go back at some point

Fantastic family meal 2 adults, 2 teens and a 7 year old. The restaurant has a lively vibe and despite the poor weather outside the atmosphere was really lovely inside. Food was amazing, the meat is almost secondary to wonderful breads, salad and dips. we had two mixed grill between 5 of us which was plentiful and we took a carton of left overs home. The service was superb and our waitress deserves a mention as she was really good despite how busy the restaurant was, not a spare seat inside and even some taking outside seats in pretty awful weather. She also took time to help the younger waitress in training which was a nice touch. Probably our new favourite restaurant in Hull Brilliant evening

We had a Greek salad, stuffed pepper and spanakopita. They were delicious! We would definitely be going back to try some other dishes. They were big portions and reasonably priced.

Great Greek food and drink. No Retsina, but good Ouzo and plenty of interesting spirits. The Mezze dishes were great, but mix of different dishes meant that it all arrives at the same time (ie not possible to order starters, as it were, and meal later) meaning we ordered too much food and we were all stuffed by the end! The spicy cheese Mezze was everyone's favourite (can't remember the name) and the olive bread worked well with it. Moussaka was great, but could have served two of us. Staff were lovely, even though we accidentally stayed while they were trying to close! Apologies - we had a great evening. Will come again.

Food was mostly lovely, however it's not a patch on the Hessle location, the chefs there are so consistently good. Pork steaks very nice, gyros didn't get great reviews from friends - average, everyone's chips kind of too crispy overcooked. Good bread, tzatziki, moussaka and calamari. Service here isn't great, everyone is nice enough however they are very slow, not sure if new staff as I have never been here before but there was numerous items dropped, a knife dropped near enough on one of my friends, plus a multitude of other cutlery. When food was served a hot basket of the greek chips was passed over the head of a friend on our table along with another plate of food which was a little worrying. Atmosphere not great, not somewhere you want to stay chat and laugh compared to the Hessle store.

Very nice authentic Greek restaurant, food great, a must has to be the Greek salad its really light and refreshing, service is good and friendly I would recommend The Greek to anyone

Visited mid week for a birthday meal, the restaurant came recommended by several friends it did not disappoint, excellent starters and main, alongside friendly efficient staff very welcoming, look forward to another visit.

On a glorious sunny day, we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at The Greek. The service was amazing, the food was just simply perfect. I didn’t get any photos of the food because I was too busy eating it. Next time I’m going to try and leave room for a dessert :)

Craved for some Greek food and decided to go here. We were still accommodated even without a reservation. Ordered their Mixed Grill, and it was fabulous! Servings were plentiful as well. Definitely worth it.

Last minute booking early Sunday evening. Shared the mix platter with my son which was excellent. Sweets were tremendous. Excellent service and reasonable prices. Will be returning and I thoroughly recommend.

The Greek is an outstanding place to visit. The food is exceptional and the specials mean that there is often something different to try every time you visit. They use the freshest ingredients in their dishes and this means that the food is always very tasty. There is a good selection of wine and other drinks to cater for all tastes. This visit was with my partner but I have previously visited with vegan friends and fussy family members, including those with allergies. The staff have always gone out of their way to ensure that needs are met and everyone has a great meal. You couldn’t ask for much more - good food, excellent staff and fantastic value.

The Greek , Princes Avenue different type of venue to the one in Hessle but the food was just as good . Fabulous grill , meat perfectly cooked and all the sides well prepared very tasty and superbly presented , all facilities spotlessly clean and well maintained either of these places is our go to treat when in Hull

Ate here over the weekend after talking about it for I don't know how long. We'd pre-booked a table for 2 using the Dojo app. The restaurant was busy and upon entering we was told we'd need to vacate the table by 7:15pm (1hr 45mins after our booking time). The waiting staff and owner are extremely friendly and polite - we loved that the owner come over and asked us how we was and made small talk instead of just wanting to take our order immediately. We ordered the Mixed Grill for 2 and a side portion of Halloumi Fries. Our order arrived quickly and was well presented. When it arrived we quickly realised there was enough food for 3/4 people and the owner, sensing this advised us to take our time and that he'd provide a take-away box for any left-overs. The food was excellent, we didn't manage to eat it all so packed up the left-overs. After another round of drinks we ordered 2 portions of Baklava - it's excellent, you need to order this! A really good first experience and we'll definitely be back!

we picked here for our double date night. we was struck straight away by the great layout and decor...effort has gone in. we all ordered from a very helpful and attentive waiter. the foot arrived prompt and plentiful! we loved the food, felt authentic too. we had some good banter with the waiter about how good it was which led the owner to come and chat to us. its great to go somewhere that is so attentive and has that personal touch. for me its that attention which makes this place special. we will be back again

Had a lovely early evening meal with my son. Great ambience with greek radio playing. Lovely friendly staff. The food was amazing, reminded me of being back home. The winner for me was the feta in filo pastry with greek honey drizzled over. Shared about four or five mezethes along with xoriatiki salata two soft drinks and a greek coffee for a very reasonable £35 and change. Look forward to trying out more of the menu soon...

Lovely Mother’s Day at The greek. The staff were so friendly and attentive! They made this Sunday a very lovely occasion with the family. The restaurant had a lovely feel it took me back to the time I have spent in Greece. The food was lovely! 10/10 definitely recommend!🇬🇷

This was my second visit and was very disappointing compared to the first time. The food was very mediocre. The service, although pleasant, felt very rushed, and they seemed to be clearing our plates and glasses as soon as we had finished with them. We did book but there was no need as we were the only people there, although a few more did arrive during the course of our meal. Not particularly good value for money.
