Had a delicious Sunday roast today . Friendly staff & good service . Definitely worth another visit to this local pub

Our second visit to this pub, the first was a couple of weeks ago. Both times the welcome was warm and friendly. The covid precautions were very good, tables spaced out and devoid of cutlery and condiments. Both meals were excellent as was the real ale. If you have not tried it yet give it a go. Our local businesses need and deserve our support when they work hard and supply good products and services. Thanks again.

Visited as close to BnB. Average looking from the outside, but alot of space inside and out. Plenty of parking available nearby.Good menu with a lite bite option and tasty home cooked food @ reasonable prices.The waitress was so warm and friendly whilst being professional. Sadly didn't have room for a dessert!Would definately visit if in the area again and would highly recommend.

Went tonight, unbelievably for the first time, despite living in Corsham. Fantastic welcome from the landlady. Super, friendly and prompt service from the smiley waitresses from the outset who were so helpful with ordering. Food was so tasty, beautifully presented in generous portions. My mum had the Bobotie, which was both yummy and unusual. Children had the burgers, which were huge. My steak was well cooked and delicious! Although we ate on the 'Eat Out' scheme, I will definitely visit again without this offer. Thank you all for a lovely evening.

This pub is suited for all.It has a great beer garden (ideal for those with children).The food is great, we had lunch there today. I had the fish and chips, my partner had the pasta dish. Both meals were good. Great value. We’ve also been enjoying the roast dinner takeaways for the last month, they are good too.Staff are friendly and polite.Great pub

As due to the present circumstances we can only have an evening take away which they're doing a very good job with.This Saturday evening meal was fish and chips with peas, a portion of tartare sauce, a slice of lemon making the meal an excellent taste.The price is reasonable, collection is required at the moment whilst in this uncertain climate.We shall be returning to have a Sunday lunch as an when the restrictions are lifted.They do serve a good pint.

We were hunting for a dog/family friendly pub to visit after a walk in Box woods and came across this pub online. We were met by friendly locals, and welcoming and helpful landlord and staff, in spite arriving in wellies with three kids and a dirty bulldog. This is a lovely pub, with a nice atmosphere, we will be going back to sample the food soon and to try out their nice beer garden!!

Visited today with my family to celebrate my Dad’s birthday and have to say it was one Of the beat meals out I’ve had in a long time. The selection of meats for the roast were cooked to perfection (I chose all three!), the deserts were excellent and the service was brilliant. We will definitely be back and I can highly recommend this place for a relaxed Sunday roast.

yep they have had a refurb, new staff and food but its still not good food and drink are not the best and are expensive, not worth the trip

After deciding to go out for dinner we thought we would try here and glad we did, service was excellent, I had a lovely gammon , a proper cut of meat not like you get in other places and cooked to perfection, my partner had steak and she was pleased with her meal too, well done chef, will definitely return, and would recommend eating there

I used to live next door and call in when I was too lazy to cook. The food was good value and tasty and the service was always friendly. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable.

There is no dedicated child’s menu, they have small portions but these are geared up for adults. They charged an additional 2 pounds for a handful of chips per child (3) kids, without telling us the cost beforehand, also 4.50 per child for small scoops of ice cream we believe is excessive.It should have been made clear of the additional charges, rather than just presenting it on the bill.SO parents be aware of the additional rip offs

We had a very enjoyable evening at The Great Western. The Staff were lovely, the food was absolutely delicious, the prices were very reasonable, the atmosphere was friendly and the decor was clean and fresh. We were offered a glass of South African Brandy to finish our meal and despite our disbelief it was THE BEST Brandy we have ever tasted. Thank you very much and we will be back very soon!

Met somefriends for a meal recently in Corsham. Original meeting place was closed for some reason and we came across the Great Western. A great friendly place toeat and drink. The Landlords made us very welcome, offering a varied selection of dishes at very reasonable prices. One particular South African dish was especially enjoyed by 2 of our party. Portions are very generous and we wish them both every success.

Me and my mum we come in today we had roast lamb and it was really lovely and for dessert we had chocolate brownie with ice cream we will definitely be coming back to your lovely restaurant and the staff are very friendly and welcoming love Lindsey

Have visited twice in four days and on both occasions received prompt friendly service. Drinks prices good value and food on our second visit well up to expectations.

A lovely selection of food well cooked including a good vegetarian choice. Landlady very welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. A nice airy, light room in which to enjoy a family lunch. Prices very reasonable too.

Wanted somewhere easy for Sunday lunch with a youngster, and pretty local. Had seen reviews were ok. I was a bit concerned about pubs which have t.v’s etc, as you don’t necessarily get good food in them, but it was a lovely sunny day, so decided to go and we could sit in the garden. From the moment we got there, we had such a warm and friendly welcome, I can’t criticise that and the service at all. They were attentive and helpful. We purely went for the roasts, and were pleased with the meals that came, just the right amount of food. Lovely crispy roasties, and the yorkshire puds definitely tasted home made, and a jug of gravy too- always a plus. So if you are looking for a good pub roast, you can’t go far wrong, with a friendly host.

We popped into the great western for supper. We sat in the great garden space in lovely evening sunshine. 4 hungry adults enjoyed great starters and mains and sadly couldn't finish it all because they are good portions. Service was quick and friendly. Later we enjoyed the company of the 2 house dogs who were so sweet and happy. Its great to have a good local.

My wife and I called in to this pub for food and drinks during the week as we had heard some good things. We were certainly not disappointed, very good starters, mains and drinks, served by friendly staff.

Great lunch ,best value in Corsham for £9.95! Very good service from very pleasant staff. New chef very good. Pete

Met for dinner with some friends, all the usual broach favourites were on the menus but I tried the bobotie a South African favourite which the landlord recommended - it was delicious.

Good food, good service and well kept beer alongside welcoming locals contribute to a good night out.

I first visited a few months ago as my sons nursery is on the same road as the pub and it looked lovely from the outside since the renovation. I just absolutely adore this place, I’ve been back 3-4 times since then and it’s just lovely. It’s so comfy and cosy, so clean and tidy. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The food is great tasting, even when it’s busy you don’t have to wait long and the food is fresh! Great supply of crisps and other snacks behind the bar. Tonnes of space in the car park so your not always looking for somewhere to park. Just a lovely place to eat/drink/spend time in. Would 100% recommend.

I have visited the great western many times since it’s reopening, The new landlord and landlady have done wonders with the place. The food has always been great every time I have eaten there and the new South African dishes are amazing (definitely worth trying).

I have recently visited this pub a few times to show support for our local business. However, I feel I have to pass on my disappointment about the landlords recent lack of community spirit and the stale atmosphere inside the pub.

Definitely slow food - but worth the wait. Good choice of draft beer. Most dishes are available as regular or lite-bite portion size - good if you are slimming or can't eat too much a a time.

New Year's Eve and we always go out for a couple of beers. We checked the website to see if they allowed dogs and off we went. Our dog always accomopanies us and that's why we choose dog friendly pubs. The barman was frosty to say the least on arrival. The bar area had some people in and all had no objections to the dog, in fact she was quite a crowd pleaser. The other two rooms were quite empty. To make a point to the owner, don't advertise the fact you accept dogs and then give your punters a frosty reception. It's a sure fire way to lose business. As locals, we will not be returning.
