Worst Chinese takeaway I’ve had in years. Sadly it was inedible and binned. The initial order that arrived was delivered 2 hours early and it was not what I ordered. The delivery lady was rude and inpatient and frankly quite aggressive. 2nd delivery was to awful and so full of salt it was inedible. I won’t be ordering again.

We ordered a delivery on New Years Eve. I appreciate this must be a very busy time for the Great Wall Team but we had two items missing from our order. I then called the restaurant 8 times from my phone and 6 times from my partners phone with no answer. The takeaway had already been paid for and I had already given a tip so with no way of getting hold of them, we just had to eat the rest of the food before it went cold. I won’t be ordering from here again. The food was fine, but very overpriced. The New Wok in Northway is much better.

Fantastic food !!! Nice friendly staff and you don't have to wait too long for any of the courses to arrive. Definitely eating here again.

Tried to order food told there was a problem with electric. Ordered to collect in over an hour's time as they said it would be fine but didn't pay. Good job. Waited 15 minutes beyond collection time could hear them arguing in the kitchen so walked out. Apologies to the girl on front of house but that was truly dreadful.

Lovely restaurant. The food was well cooked and very tasty, especially the tender, sizzling beef and the spicy chilli beancurd. The staff were very friendly and looked after us throughout our visit. Will definitely return here again soon!

Dined here with five friends on Saturday night as heard was under new management, we each tried a range of different dishes, the tiger prawns were large and delicious, the crispy beef was melt in the mouth, overall everyone loved the food, the wine was quality, the cobra beers on draught got top marks and the atmosphere was lively as they were very busy, if going it is best to book ahead your table. The new management advised us on their plans to further improve with some updated decor etc and menu specials, and we will definitely be going again, thank you to all of the staff they were very friendly and attentive.

We had a fantastic meal here! Food was delicious, great service and good atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Cooked to our request, authentic taste.

Both times we’ve ordered things have been missing from the order, wrote a note to remind them and they forgot another item instead. Refunded for missing items but food wasn’t good at all this time, won’t be ordering again.

Really enjoyed our meal this evening, even the pineapple fritters which was enough for 2.

Pink chicken phone up to complain for them to not understand and say chicken should be red nothing solved not even sorry Neva again shame as always been here with no problem way to solve this would be sorry and refund

An excellent meal wth quick service and friendly staff.

The man taking the orders and serving was running around stressed out whilst sweating everywhere (on a cold night so summer must be even worse). Arguing with others eating there. The food was cold and soggy. A large group were eating, being so loud and obnoxious, like they owned the place, no consideration to others eating. The town is crying out for a classier Chinese than is currently available.

Friendly staff and knowledgeable, good choice for vegans and vegetarians. Quickly and easy.

Used many times in the past for takeaway delivery, but this evening was very disappointing. My usual Kung Po Chicken was unpleasantly sour and tasted of vinegar, most of it has gone in the bin. Won't be ordering from here again.

I gave this a 5* review a few years ago. What happened! Last 3 meals have been less than average. Not sure what you have done to the sauces but I actually left the sweet and sour ,couldn't eat. It tastes like soap, thought I'd order again for benefit of the doubt. Not nice. This used to taste fresh and homemade now it all tastes like it's come from a cheap wholesale bottle and not fresh. Sadly I don't think we will be returning 😒

I not sure what you have done to the katzu chicken but it was very poor tonight. And I asked for plain rice and received egg fried rice.

We waited a long time, the food was poor quality and items were missing. The carpet had dirt all over it, the table cloth was stained, the plates dirty. Overall a disappointing experience, especially for somewhere I ate at a few years ago and it was delightful. We raised this with the staff and they were indifferent, but eventually removed the value of the missing items from the bill. I would not recommend.

Used to love their crispy shredded beef, but the last few times it has been horrible, just ordered it again just in case it was good again, but never again, the beef was like jelly and wasn't crispy at all, I had to leave it made me feel sick. Try to contact them without having to phone them, but you can't. Very disappointed 😞

The single worse Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had. Incredibly poor quality. The chicken was gristly and tasted awful. Totally inedible! Most of it is now in the bin ☹️

Sketchy driver made us pay twice as they said card didnt go through, now they got it in cash and by card online and the owners won't do anything about it.

Good food but got scammed. Paid online and the driver said it didn't go through so had to pay the driver just for them to take the money out and paid twice. Called back and the owner said they would investigate and call back. Gave it a week as didn't get a response just for them to say they can't do anything as the driver doesn't speak English and that the driver didn't have the money.

Terrible customer service. We used to spend a lot of money here on takeaways, but last night was the last time. We ordered a delivery for 1930 for when my wife got home from work. Turned up at around 1730. When I questioned the driver, he just shrugged and handed me the food. Phoned the restaurant and was asked if this was ok, or did I want another sent out later. I opted for another sent out later. Thought this was the end of the matter. Instead, I receive a phone-call later asking for the food to be sent back??? Assuming the driver would drop the order off at 1930 and pick up the old 1 then??? Nope. The delivery driver turns up at 1830 and says “give me the food”. When questioned why he is back, and whats going on, again just shrugs. So I give him the food. And off he goes. At 1930 he turns up, with what I expect to be the exact same food I sent back, just reheated (contains prawns) as it all tasted soft and soggy including the nuts, which it doesn’t usually, and like I say, we used to order a lot. Really terrible way to treat a long standing customer who spends a lot of money with this place.

First visit (recently moved). My wife and I booked a table, we were the only ones occupying one of the nine tables, (Thursday 6pm), although there were quite a few takeaway collections. The food was really good and reasonably priced. We shall be going again. Update - went again, and again. Still really good.

Had a take away from here for the first time in a long time. Always had good experiences previously. However, I was violently ill through the night and into the following day which I can only account to the restaurant’s poor hygiene/ food prep etc giving me food poisoning. I will not be buying from here again

We tried the Great wall chinese in Tewkesbury thinking it would have been the same as years ago, WRONG. More like a cafe, grubby plastic doily table clothes with a radio playing in the background, not even chinese music. No atmosphere what so ever, very cold. Food was ok, nothing special. Now I wish we would have bought Nicer, bigger portions from the Lotus takeaway for around £50 and eating at home than it costing £100 at the Great wall with a colder ambience than my house. Maybe, we should have stuck to the Raj And had an Indian, even KFC had more atmosphere which is where we went to have an ice cream afterwards. VERY disappointing, still, you live and learn, the hard ways.

Ordered for takeaway and the food was excellent. Seems really busy on Saturday night as the food took a little longer than usual to cook. Worth the wait. Highly recommended.

So far he was always happy with the food, but unfortunately not today. I understand that the waiting time may be longer (today by an hour), but why did the food arrive completely cold ?!? The taste wasn't the same as usual and the spring rolls were very dry. A really big disappointment.

i ordered 'crispy' beef and squid it came sopping wet and freezing cold, very dissapointing. This takeaway used to be very nice maybe 2 years ago but it's gone downhill massively i wouldn't recommend it or delivery service my food took over an hour to come and it was all cold . 0/10 dont go here.

Very good as a takeaway. The workers are lovely and helpful and the food is great. The inside decor is a little outdated but other than that it's great

Really old school restaurant, plastic tablecloths and all but lovely food

Don’t get me wrong the food is excellent The problem is the delivery service, They wait until they have 4 or 5 orders then go out and delivery them , so if your not first your food is going to be cold . And probably been travelling around for a hour or two . They need to sort this issue out . My advice would be to collect your meal in person. It’s a shame because of this they are not getting the credit they deserve.

Fast delivery which I can't complain. The food on the other hand, as each dish was not fresh tasting, all very dry. One dish was supposed to be spicy and contained about half a red pepper in it, not much flavour over any of them as if the chef didn't care or chef didn't cook themself. First time ordering and disappointingly the last time I will ever order from here. Sorry The Great Wall.

It was the best shredded beef I've ever tasted 10/10.moved to a little village up the road and hit that place first and will now use it all the time.

Haven't used this place since it was run by Mr and Mrs Fong some years ago. Tried it again for an anniversary treat and so glad we did. By some way the best Chinese food we've had for a very long time. Quick efficient service and extras too. The starters were several notches above the equivalents in most restaurants and the main dishes were absolutely outstanding. Admittedly the decor is somewhat Spartan but with food and service like that who cares. Prices very competitive too especially considering the quality being served.

Had an excellent takeaway, that included Aromatic Crispy Duck. The Duck was on the bone and beautifully cooked, not the pre cooked shredded pieces you get in some takeaways.

Visiting the area and so I was a new customer for a takeaway delivery. Food for 5 people, came very quickly (20 mins) and really tasty. If I lived locally I would be here every week!

First time customer visiting the area. Chose a number of classic dishes. Arrived on time, very hot and every dish tasted amazing and some better than my local Chinese.

The beef chow mein here is so nice I travel just to go here to get it, they do a lovely chicken katsu Curry aswell, staff very polite and friendly, decor a little dated but the restaurant is lovely.

Rice was dry. Chicken balls was soaked in oil banana fritters wasn't done enough. Food partly cold

Waited over a hour and a half for a delivery food arrived cold. Food was very bland and the chicken was inedible. All the meals we ordered ended up in the bin.

Love The Great Wall. They are a beacon of hope in a slurry of pub food, the Mein event no doubt! Great value, decent portions.

I was not impressed. Shame. Far too oily. Tasted microwaved. The duck was obviously deep fried. Way too fatty. Although the premises were well kept and clean. It may be a different experience if you eat in , but the take out I felt was not up to scratch.

We're visiting Tewkesbury and decided to book in. We knew nothing about the place. 8 out of 9 tables occupied. Staff very attentive. Ordered and the meals were hot and very tasty. Quite a few take away meals collected. If we visit Tewkesbury again, will be sure to visit. Thank you.

Squid was way to hard and over cooked and hard to eat , and the chicken too chewy first time off ordering here and won't be going back only positive was reasonable size portions and food hot.. pity as was recommended by friend ..but just not for us think stay qwith Lotus.

The best crispy duck I've had from a takeaway restaurant, probably ever! Really fancied it after watching Friday Night Dinner 🤣 and it absolutely hit the mark 😁

Discovered this gem while on the hunt for food one night. My husband had the salt & pepper crab and he said it was totally delicious, I had the chicken curry and it was up there with one of the best. The service was fast and friendly. The Portion size was just right and the price was good too. This is definitely a first choice when we are back in the area. 10/10

Great discovery during my last visit with my family, we got ourselves a massive spread of dishes and each was top quality.

Good enough service but unfortunately my special chow mien was decidedly average. Almost dry with tiny prawns and very little meat. Not awful but certainly not good!

Was not happy the food was horrible and ordered the sweet and sour chichen and it had a taste as if chichen was off would not recommend and will never go again especially for the price as well

Dissapointed is an understatement. Have lived in Tewkesbury all my life and this place has always been top of the takeaways for me but not anymore. It has changed hands a couple of times over the years but always retained it quality, until now. Cheap ingredients, the prawn toast was dripping with fat and tasteless, the chicken was anaemic and who in gods name puts sweetcorn in fried rice?? I expected authentic, not uncle bens. For the cost i expected a lot more, for what I got i would have expected to pay a lot less. Such a shame but will never be ordering from here again. I could have done better at home and will next time.

Came tonight for a nice meal, was quite shocked at how bad the food was, just average nothing special and £6.50 for prawn toast 1 slice of bread won't return.
