Raf and Cherry went above and beyond in their service when we ordered hot drinks this evening. It was the best and made us feel very special. Thank you. They are brilliant.

Terrible experience. Such a shame as a lovely looking place. Waiting 20 mins to get served, had to go and ask to be served. Thank god we had starters! Although they were very poor .Myself and my kids had the roast. Yorkshire puddings were stone cold! Got sent back. The roast was luke warm. Beef was chewy. Took from sitting down to eating the roast was 1 and half hours. Not impressed. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Definitely wouldn’t go back. I will praise the member of staff trying his hardest. But sadly he’s up against it all. Although if they didn’t have him, we would still be sat there!

We enjoyed our visit and the food was good. Your staff were very helpful. There was only one thing that marred our visit. One of our group on finding that her preferred drink was unavailable decided to have a mini bottle of Prosecco, which she said she had bought before for half the price the Grasshopper charged. Would the Grasshopper care to comment on this?

Lovely venue. Popped in for a few drinks. I can't comment on the food as I didn't dinethere but the staff were friendly and the venue was nice, warm and clean.

Booked the function room for Team meeting / Training session Fantastic service. Lunch was lovely & lots of it. So great value for Money. Fully function WiFi & projector screen to help with the training session. Lovely large room with plenty of space. Comfortable seats & tables. Unlimited Coffee & Tea to keep the troops happy. Staff very helpful & attentive, went out of their way to help us. Great day Thanks

Very tasty and cosy atmosphere.

Sadly, wasn't the best experience. Took the wife out for a birthday meal on a Saturday night. Restaurant was very quiet and there was no atmosphere. Ordered fish and chips and sausage and mash. Out comes my fish and chips, shock! Literally a 5inch fish and 12 chips (see picture). I asked where the rest of my £18 fish and chips were. They said thats the portion ordered. After 'a' chat, they did bring out a second fish and chips by which time my wife had finished her meal. The experience of the night was ruined by this matter and lack of other customers.

Never had a bad meal here this Sunday the beef was a bit tough but I put that down to us not going until 6:00 p.m. would have been nice if the beef was sliced and put into a beef stock to keep it moist rather than in the oven or under hot lights to make it go tough

A very nice Sunday roast with a very pleasant house pint.

Waitress was nice but poor service overall. Food took forever to come out and was sat on the pass for ages before we got it, we had to go up to the bar to get our own drinks.

The Gasshopper is a very pleasant environment and could be the hub of the whole area, and its staff are very good on the whole. However, its main long term problem is the unreliable quality of what comes out of the kitchen( lack off consistency) good one day dreadful the next. Its such a shame they won't pay enough to keep a good chef. Now also if paying customs have to pay for parking as well they will stay away. Word is already out locally that people really resent having to pay parking to eat here.

We had a lovely meal with promt, attentive, friendly service. My Father-in-law had the best sticky toffee pudding he had ever had!

The pizza was lovely and the staff even gave me a box to take it home as it was so filling.. I didnt realise it was dog friendly otherwise I would have bought mine along...Fresh water and treats were freely available to the dog that was there...Nice touch...

Popped into the pub one morning, ordered sourdough toast, tea and my partner had sausage and bacon bap. My toast was so hard and dry it actually scratched the roof of my mouth. My partner's bap was wasn't much better with very dry sausages and bacon. This cost £16.40. I will never go there for food again.

Arrived for lunch, group of 4, lovely menu, always tasty produce used and the food is lovely. Bit of a wait on food but it was over the lunch period.

Nice pub with friendly staff but I ordered a pretty expensive fish and chips which was undoubtedly the worst I've ever had. Greasy, overcooked, the actual fish not nice at all and hardly any chips too. Definitely will not be returning.

We ordered our drinks,and the waitress went off to server someone else, we had to wait 20 minutes before we got our drinks, 2 of us had sausage and mash,and the other 2 had fish and chips, the sausages were over cooked and my other 2 friends had an upset stomach, the restaurant wasn't busy it was Wednesday 24th January 2024,I spent nearly £70 and I won't be taking anyone there again, this has happened twice now with no apology

I have to say this pub suffers from an all too frequent problem, Parking well automated parking control . The signage was poor and at no point were we warned by bar/ waiting staff that we had to log are car registration. So a mediocre meal was followed later by a demand from Brittania parking. For a large fine halved if paid within a certain time still a lot of money . Being a holder of a disability parking badge I could legally have parked outside on yellow lines for free. I appealed and eventually after showing proof of purchase in said pub . I received a condescending email about being let off and don't do it again, well I can honestly say I won't as I will never go again and advise others to be careful. Poor service backed up by a charge trap

Visited january 2024 for a family get together meal , all family members of the same opinion.Overpriced pub grub ,nothing special , overpriced drinks too ,will not be revisiting and will warn others .

This pub is one of our locals, love the atmosphere and love the Beers. Decided to go out for a meal for our anniversary, We ordered our drinks with the pleasant staff(no fault here). Meal itself was ok, nothing special just standard pub grub. When presented with the bill i had to look twice at the price of a 250ml glass of wine @ £12.50, sorry this pub is not high end and in a city, granted it is a large venue but the prices here are too inflated for whatever reason(probably think because they are situated on the cusp of a very wealthy suburb then they can get away with it).

Very expensive food and poor quality . The place itself is quite nice. Ugly camera carpark. Beware of fines 🙂

regular thursday patrons, stung by the new parking system which means you need to register your car behind the bar for the parking if longer than 30mins (!) slapped us for £170 charge for being a visitor at their premises! will never return again

Went for coffee after a long walk as we needed somewhere dog friendly. Loved the library room - felt very cosy. Good coffee and the staff were helpful.

We had our Sunday Lunch on New Year's Eve. We really liked the Library setting. The meals were so filling and so much per plate. The service was good. The twins liked their Southern fried chicken. Would love to come back. We took nice pics too.

Great food, friendly and attentive personal service from Cherry. It’s our local but 1st time here after moving recently, so will definitely be back for another experience.

Was there Dec 27th, the staff team that night was amazing!!! Cocktails were phenomenal as was the food. I had bbq smothered chicken; my sister mac & cheese; and her partner chickpea curry - all beautiful. Bar manager was friendly & attentive, nothing was too much - Thankyou Mr Salmon! Would definitely go again

Visited 27th Dec2023 with family who were back on route up North the following day. Ended our Xmas celebrations in style. 3 of us went & each & every meal was stunning & cooked perfectly. Took great advantage of the 2 cocktails deal. The team on the night run perfectly well. A great night .. A huge Thank you to the team on that night. All were really friendly & went out of their way to make sure every moment of our night was the best it could be. 🥰

Very slow service, having to ask more than once for drinks & butter for toast. Vegi breakfast was OK, BUT they served coleslaw fritters. Warm... was really nasty. Bacon on full English was practically cremated... took ages to actually get our meals.

Oh, how we bitterly regret choosing this massively overpriced bog standard corporate chain pub with delusions far above itself and its capacity to achieve them for a large family Christmas dinner. We weren't asked if we wanted starters for an entire hour, the ham hock looked and tasted like cheap supermarket pate, the deep fried breaded camembert contained no camembert, just an empy shell of deep fried breadcrumbs. And then after that succesful start it started to go bad. The turkey was clearly pre-sliced and microwaved ready meal quality, the meagre two or thee small roast potatoes were full of black spots and ironically both cold and obviously reheated several times. The pigs in blankets were crunchy, as was the Yorkshire pudding which was also cold despite having spent hours beneath a heat lamp so was dried out and stale. The stuffing was nasty, the red cabbage cold, but at least the tiny sprouts were warm. As to desserts, regardless of our pre-order weeks in advance all the Christmas puddings had toffee sauce poured over them, which is lovely if you like and had ordered toffee sauce. I don't and I hadn't. Service was what you would expect from a chain pub serving food on a Saturday afternoon when the football is on. And for this horrible meal we paid over £80 per person, which is a shameful disgrace. Please, please, don't ever go to The Grasshopper, it's truly awful. I can only hope it closes soon.

Well turned out ,busy in all rooms with usual hall and Woodhouse offerings ,quirky and interesting.

A very welcoming cold drink after a busy week, would have been nice if someone had said you have to register your car in the carpark

Really nice pub but a bit pricey. We went for our company Christmas party there. Everything was nice except of the prices of the drinks. £11.30 for a double gin was a bit too much

Lovely place we came here for a Christmas lunch booked paid a deposit, however was disorganised and the website didn’t match what the staff were doing. What did come. A as tasty although the Camembert was. Disappointing. The place itself was. Really. Lovely and the decorations looked really good, Christmassy and warm.

Came in Saturday night for a quiet drink with friends .Will not be coming again . There must of been a party on ,which is great a part from kids screaming and running around the place .It is an expensive bar so if I wanted kids running around I would of gone to a cheaper venue .

Greasy fish and chips with poor quality produce, disinterested, lacklustre service and a general grubbiness on tables and rather neglected feel.

We've been here several times. Today however the Sunday roast (beef) was dried out on the edges, as if it sat out way too long. The potatoes were petrified similarly. I requested more Yorkshire Puddings for our group of 12 people, but we had to remind the waiter 3 times. He brought the puddings when we were all done eating. It was about 2pm and there were only a few other patrons, so no excuses that it was too busy. The nut roast my friend had was delicious nonetheless. Next time I'll go for fish and chips again, the roast ain't worth the price. Another minus on the cider, even the mildest one is on the brim to scrumpy.

Came here for a LUNCHTIME birthday celebration with family a month or so back and based on that very enjoyable experience I booked for a Friday EVENING MEAL with a very dear visiting friend who I had not seen for some time and with whom...

Pretty much as expected at lunchtime..the food was good and served as it should be though had, for some reason, expected more adventurous options but nevertheless good and not overpriced. It was very empty so difficult to gauge atmosphere though imagine it's cosy when busy. Service was excellent..our waiter..didn't catch his name..was efficient, welcoming and helpful.

We only had beer. It was good. The loos are good. Afternoon was quiet, so we got served quickly and we sat where we liked. You need to register your car if you use the carpark, then it's free.

A nice local pub with Great atmosphere and excellent food. Staff were very welcoming and I cannot fault the service I would highly recommend.

The Grasshopper team looked after us well whilst we used the function room upstairs for a group training session, food was good, will be back again.

My friend and went here for dinner. Unfortunately our first choice of mains was unavailable but our second, the chicken Kiev was delicious. We will definitely return.

Terrible experience, food took ages to come out, staff were rude and not interested in serving, and you have to register to park your car or you will get a £60 fine, all of which were not sign posted and staff failed to mention, rung the restaurant to complain to be told its not there problem

Dont even try the chicken wings....what **exactly) was that.... Miniature wings with some kind of bottle sauce poured over them.... Ya know what? ..... give it up!

nipped in for a quick dinner monday, and was welcomed by the lovely harriet! not often do i leave reviews, but the service was attentive and friendly, and nothing was too much hassle despite being busy! harriet is a credit to the business, thank you for such a lovely evening and hope to return soon!

Open plan kitchen* . Marcus the head chef came to our table . I spoke with him at length about the food . I had the mini macaroni cheese topped with Panko breadcrumbs and triple cooked chips . It was delicious. I also had dark chocolate mousse topped with berry compote it also comes with granola and coconut but I am highly allergic to coconut so they didn't add either the granola or coconut. Kyle was our server and he went above and beyond for us . Faultless service impeccable food . Well worth a visit , great value for money. I will definitely be going back there soon . 5 Stars .

We came here on a sunday, for a roast with the family, i wasnt in the mood for a roast, so decided to go for the double cheeseburger, looking foward 2 nice meaty patties, i was given something u can say was smaller than a double cheesburger, ( see pic cant even see the meat patties) and to be fair it looked more like a kids meal, didnt even fill me up, no1 could fault the roast dinners, but the burgers was a massive let down

Superb experience from start to finish, would recommend in a heartbeat, only down side i live in Bedford and visited on holiday.

I'm really disappointed how much this place has gone downhill, 80% of the tables empty when we arrive and still got forgotten about when trying to place ant orders . The food was cold, and not fresh potatoes were soggy and reheated. We watched our meals being prepared and then left on the side for for 10mins before finally being served. Half the menu wasn't available. Just shocking for the value they ask.after speaking to local friends, this is happening regularly.

This use to be a good social pub, even when Covid restrictions were on, they made an effort and set up a marquee in the rear. Now, 10 people in the bar on a Saturday night. No atmosphere.. to cap it all, Got a parking...

Stopped here previously for food which was amazing, but often its just pop in for a drink or 2. Good spot good atmosphere and good drinks !

This place has become our regular. Always something on the menu that's suitable. The only place I know that has Mortimers on draft.

I can understand why the place was empty ! £40 for 4 glasses of average wine that I had to go to the bar to get even though table service was meant to be offered ! Miserable lady behind bar who couldn’t give a damn...

Our first visit was to celebrate our daughter's birthday. We were a party of 5 adults, 3 children and a puppy. Everything was spot-on and really made the time spent there perfect. An absolute gem of a place and so inviting. We will certainly be back. In a word, excellent.

Whilst away for a week near Poole we booked this last minute on the Wednesday night, it was so good we went back on Saturday, fantastic food, brilliant service, the staff were all quite young which, sadly, often means they are not engaging, but the staff were lovely, well recruited or well trained (or both). Superb dining experience, I am now on the lookout for H&W pubs near me.

It was with a sense of trepidation that I discovered that my monthly lunch group had chosen a pub run by the Hall and Woodhouse brewery here in Dorset. I say trepidation because I had just written a negative view of another of their pubs...

Excellent waiting staff nice looking place but the toilets were in a terrible state the food was of average quality but very small portions and i wont be returning even for drinks as they DONT except cash

Been coming here for a while now since its close to my house, lovely place, can get busy especially at 6pm so id recommend coming earlier or a bit later Foods amazing and staff are wonderful ❤️ Also free yorkshire puddings and gravy on sundas when ordering the Sunday roasts

If I could give it less, I would. Booked table of 7 for 6pm for family meal having not met for 6 months. Many items not available on the menu but only found out at point of ordering. Waited over an hour for main courses before having to give up and cancel. Still had to pay over £50 for drinks whilst waiting. The worst experience ever in any restaurant……AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Menu sounds much better than the results. Slow service, poor standard of food, overpriced. Vegetarian choice was a fairly snall portion, bun was stale on burger.. Apple pie advertised as a special arrived cold with uncooked almonds opposed to warm pie witg toasted almonds..salad had...

Went for lunch with friends. We sat outside near carpark as sun was out. I had the ham, eggs & chips others had chicken burgers. My eggs were overcooked & hard, ham was ok & chips were nice. Burgers were fine

I received a PCN notice from their car park, because I stayed for 2 hours and 7 minutes on a Monday evening, whilst eating and drinking at the pub. Make sure to check in. They fixed it after sending an email.

Went today for a late lunch. This is my local so I have to be loyal... but that's not difficult because it's a great pub. Lovely staff, excellent food. Restaurant if you fancy formal or the bar which is cosy and has a fire. Lots of outdoor tables with heating. Pub quiz Monday and DJ on Saturday. Dogs welcome. I've posted a range of food from the different menus they offer, their Christmas dinner was really good

What a lovely pub. Welcoming, excellent food and the waiters Jacob and Jordan particularly were 5 star. Their pleasant, cheerful approach was worth going back for. Love the library area and the whole layout of this pub is worth visiting.

I would say it's the best pub in poole you will not be disappointed. Food amazing, great drinks, friendly staff, the decor is beautiful an absolute must 👌 of you have never been.

Very pleasant and spacious pub with wide variety of different seating options. Food was good and they even give extra gravy. No one should skimp on gravy.
