Inn in the Park in Poole

My partner and I used to be regulars here but hadn't been for several years. We went for lunchtime drinks. The pub was busy. As we approached the bar the landlord greeted us in a booming gruff unfriendly voice. He curtly directed us to a high table with stools rather than a nearer more convenient table with chairs saying we would have to sit there. For the hour and a half or so that we were there, no one else sat at that table. After a round of drinks, we ordered a portion of chips. The Landlord, Graham, took the order and abruptly said "I don't know when you'll get them!" However, they were not too long coming, which, turned out to be a pity. I have never had chips like them, and I speak with some authority. They were so sodden with oil that my fingers quite literally dripped with it. When the waitress, Amanda, came to our table we showed her the bowl of saturated chips. She was very sorry that we had been so disappointed and apologised unreservedly saying that no one had complained before. She kindly refunded the cost of the chips. Later in the evening, both my partner and I felt queasy and sick, no doubt the result of our unexpected lunchtime ingestion. Darren and Maggie, the managers, came across as unprofessional, both in their dress and demeanour. I doubt we'll be returning any time soon.

Came for lunch to celebrate Father in Laws Birthday. Lovely place really welcoming staff and the food was fantastic. Thanks for looking after us.

Very disappointed. Anticipating waiting for friend to have a meal with, I thought before ordering i’d have a soda water. Not sure what we’d share to drink. I went to bar and asked for soda water. Barman said cash or card? I said what for? He said soda water. I said you charge? He said yes. I said well that is a first? All the places I have visited. I looked at Menu and realized that the food was unhealthy, and pricey. So left. They seemed petty soda? And they lost two meals! To post had to add star. Would prefer NO star!

Stayed for 4 nights, absolutly would stop again if needed. The 2 evening meals we had were lovely and all 4 breakfast were also great. The couple who run the place are extremely friendly and very welcoming. It also has 2 rooms especially for dogs.

We stayed in one of their rooms and it really needs decorating. Flakey paint and very mouldy bathroom. We were told they lock the door at night "so we don't steal their beer" When we tried to enter the dining room for breakfast at 8.45am we were abruptly told the door is unlocked at 9am. Very strange, unwelcoming rules in this run down establishment.

Great little pub and the food is usually very good. The only negative is the landlord and landlady who have a tenancy to bicker in front of customers, which is why we avoid the place lunchtime and go in the evening when they're not there!!

Dined at The Inn in the Park on a Sunday evening. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Staff were attentive and friendly. Only criticism was that the table for 6 adults was rather cramped, but that said, it wouldn't stop us from visiting again.

We went for a light lunch and was pleasantly surprised, cleniness excellent and our waitress was like a breath of fresh air ( bright and cheery) . We would recommend !

Booked online for a table in dog friendly area. On arrival with dog was told the booking I had made was for the restaurant where my dog was not allowed. I could see the booking on the computer screen which clearly said dog friendly. We then had a bit of a conversation and a wait for them to find us a dog friendly table. I was made to feel it was our fault turning up with our dog when clearly something had gone wrong their end. Not off to a great start and changed my upbeat mood... service was good (albeit a bit fast) and food was well cooked hot and tasty. Overall okay but could be improved with better customer experience.

I dropped in to this pub a couple of weeks ago during a very hot day. I had my 6 month baby with me in a pram. There was one particular waitress working that day (I'm sorry I don't recall her name) who was so kind to me and really understood how stressful an experience can be to go out with a baby. She helped me move the pram down a stair and she came to take my order/pay at the table to save me having to push the pram back to the bar. I very much appreciated this and made my experience here a joy - thank you!

Shared a lovely Sunday roast with friends. Good atmosphere and cracking Yorkshire puddings! ... really sad to say we went back this weekend and felt quite unwelcome. The food wasn't close to what it was and the atmosphere felt awful. We won't be going back.

Absolutely disgusted that I was served an off/spoiled chicken today which was GREEN! Please see photo attached. The chef then had the cheek to try and tell me it's normal and it's the bone. I'm 7 weeks postpartum and nursing my son full time so not only does this put me at risk but it's now put my son's health at risk. Dire place and zero integrity and decency. Rather than an apology, they insult my intelligence (I am a huge foodie may I add) and try and tell me it's normal.

A superb place to stay, in a beautiful location close to the beach. The rooms are clean and spacious with everything you need. The breakfasts are lovely with a good choice and the main menus are excellent. Thank you Maggie, Darren and all your staff for making us feel welcome and our stay so enjoyable.

We went for sunday lunch today with friends to the 'Inn in the Park' Bournemouth. Have to say we had the Sunday Roasts, (duo and trio) and they were spectacularily delicious, plenty of food, amazing meats and delicious vehetables. Can't think of a better place to go to in ~Bournemouth~ for this gourmet cuisine, a '6 Star experience' and wonderful chefs.

We visited for a Sunday roast at teatime. We had planned to go to a carvery and hubby had booked this thinking it was one. After my initial disappointment I ended up praising hubby. Our roast beef dinner was top notch , tender meat, lovely veg and roasties perfectly cooked and as Yorkshire folk we can truly say the Yorkshire Pudding was top notch too. Service was friendly and attentive and we will be back when next in the area

Just moved to the area and wandered here for a few drinks. Just what you want from a local pub. Friendly service. Decent selection of ales (Neck Oil on draft!!!! 🤤) and very generous portions of well presented and tasty tuck! Prices weren’t too bad either! We shall be back soon IITP

This pub was great really lively a fantastic band and the staff service was exceptional - the only thing that let it down was the landlady standing in the restaurant complaining in loud voice about people from the north complaining about paying £6.50 for a cup of coffee - I’m north of this place so it made me a bit uncomfortable she them lamented on in detail about how much she paid for all her bills and was generally depressingly negative.this was a real shame as I’ve never met such attentive friendly staff in a pub before - I will say although I’m sure it’s only because I’m more northern that a glass of pinot Grigio at £11 was a bit pricey!

Fabulous Evening! We were just popping in for a drink on the way to the beach, but never made it. Fabulous atmosphere, great food and drink, together with smashing staff. Will be back!!

Went for Sunday lunch hadn’t even sat down when we were told we had to be finished by 13.50. Not a great welcome . Food was very good but let down by the attitude of the waiting staff . We ordered a roast one of our group asked for no potatoes but extra veg .she was then lectured by the waitress that they had 200 dinners to serve and could not cater for this. We got the impression that she felt we were a nusicance , and being difficult . I would not go again , dreadful staff

My family and I eat out most Sundays and thought to try here - best decision ever made as now we know where to go for a top quality decent roast. It honestly was delicious and couldn’t fault it. Friendly staff too.

Another visit for food and we were not disappointed. Amanda was yet again very welcoming. Service was great,lovely staff. The Camember sharing platter was divine.as was our main course and dessert. Very pleasant and spotlessly clean .

I came here last night for dinner with a friend. The welcome was exceptionally warm and the food was excellent. I particularly recommend the risotto. It was superb with delicate flavours and a great consistency. The GF chocolate brownie was also a great choice. I highly recommend this pub.

We have been coming to the Inn in The Park for nearly thirty years and seen many manager come and go and staff also changing over the years. We often stopped by in the afternoon and sat on the lovely front of the Inn it was so handy situated after a day out. We had lunch sometimes. We would often come on an evening and enjoyed the jazz nights so would dine. However on one of my last visits as a vegan my food had a fishy taste and when I mentioned this to the waitress she retaliated quite aggressively saying there is no cross contamination in the kitchen and was quite rude to me. The waitress then Collaborated with the other waitress who was also rude to me. In all My years I have never been dealt like this and was quite shocked knowing what great customers we have been long before these waitresses were ever there. I said I would not return to my husband but we did a week later and he mentioned this to the manager who said he was not aware of anything that evening. He gave me a refund to be quite honest I didn’t want a refund. I am afraid this has left a sour taste and I was actually quite hurt. It’s a shame as we have supported the Inn when no one else was there and we were happy to see it busier. A lot of people I noticed no longer go there. It’s no good being busy just in summer holiday times. There are some fabulous places to dine in westbourne, the Greek restaurant being a favourite where its family run and run so professionally it’s a complete dining experience all round. We are regular visitors to Dilli Haat a fabulous Indian.

Went here for lunch with family who were visiting the area. We’ve dined at this pub many times over the years and always enjoyed the food and today was no different. Really love the fact there is an option for small appetite portions. Waiting staff were attentive and helpful without being a nuisance. Unfortunately the landlord was no more cheerful today than he has ever been, hence only 3 stars.

Mid Christmas decided to go for dinner with a friend, looked at the website which states “Dinner Mon - Sat: 6 - 8.30pm”. Arrived at 8:10pm, to told the kitchen is closed? Why publish times when local variation exist.

Absolutely adorable little pub! The food was delicious, the staff were all incredibly helpful and switched on, they have the best mulled wine I have ever had and they made my friends birthday special by putting a candle in her desert and singing happy birthday as it was being served. I can’t praise this establishment enough!

The landlord was very grumpy, a real mood killer. The other bar staff are very nice and friendly. The place is OK otherwise.

I’ve been here so many times and spent a fortune on drinks and food but they now started charging for soda water from the tap which is so petty! Nobody charges for putting gas into water. These small things go a long way to keeping customers happy and coming back. I noticed places not giving jugs of water and only giving small glasses! Then they expect you to tip.

Lovely lovely pub / restaurant. Had a really good lunch and very mellow environment. Parking easy and dog friendly. The staff were very accommodating of all our needs and service was super speedy. Man with ginger hair and another lady helped us out, and they were great ! Would recommend !!

Nice pub from the outside and cosy feel. Ordered a Malbec which tasted and smelt off. Asked to swap it for something fresh and was told other guests are drinking it and Malbec is very dry. They offered to add water to it!!?? If it’s a new bottle than all I can say is the wine was of poor quality. Said we had to pay for a new drink to which we decided to leave. Was goikg to have 2/3 drinks each and dinner the next day as staying near by but now will never return. Shame as cost price of that wine was probably £4 but instead of offering a solution have lost out on business

We have been visiting the area and were meeting up with friends who booked The Inn to have an evening meal. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and enjoyed by all eight of us. We enjoyed it so much that the three of us returned yesterday for another evening meal. The atmosphere was lovely and the service we had from Amanda was second to none.

A three night stay was very good. The Inn is on a fairly quiet road and serves good fayre from a wide menu. Its cellar has been awarded Cask Marque for the two cask beers it serves from the nearby Wadworth's brewery. Our room was kept well and was spacious. A little more drawer space would have been useful. A small fridge was supplied and the en-suite soaps and smellies were decent with plenty of towels. The bus stop for nearby Poole was outside the Inn with the nearest beach a 10 minute downhill stroll some of which might prove a bit steep for dodgy knees.

Unhelpful waitress didn’t tell us they were out of fish when we sat down, so when 2 of us tried to order it we were left disappointed. I then asked for a half portion of the ham egg & chips and was told they can’t make it smaller. I queried this and they said it is ‘made up in portions.’ My grandma ordered it anyway and I had something from the small appetite menu. However, when hers came, it was 2x slices of ham, 2x eggs and a load of chips - how was it not possible to half?? Management are also poor at customer service which explains why the staff are too. We had been avoiding here since my mum left a clearly branded designer scarf at her table a few months ago. When she phoned to ask if they had it, she was told they did and they’d keep it in the managers office until she collected. She went to collect the next day and it had mysteriously disappeared - with management saying that staff go in and out all the time so they’re not sure who has stolen it! Our visit yesterday only confirmed that we won’t be back. Such a shame!

Had excellent roast dinner tonight with friends. I had the duo of pork and roast beef and enjoyed it thoroughly. Enjoyed this with a nice IPA. Our waitress Grace provided phenomenal service. She was extremely friendly and cheery. She made some excellent suggestions regarding our desserts.

Terrible service and the food is overpriced and rubbish. I will not be returning. Such a shame!!!!!!

Worst buttermilk chicken burgers! I would guess 10% chicken maximum in the chicken burger and very rude untrained barman / landlord.

Booked a few days ago as noted the Inn was dog friendly, wonderful place, very dog friendly, staff were very welcoming, service was great, really good selection of drinks, food was also really good, some specials and a good selection of dishes. Would definitely recommend.

Tastefully furnished large room, comfortable bed, great selection of freshly cooked breakfast, friendly staff. Rooms are over a pub but all was quiet by 10.30 so no problems with noise. Excellent selection of reasonably priced food on the bar menu.
