Pleasant pub for an overnight. Not expensive, evening meal and breakfast were good. Nice beer. 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes from Poole quay for Brownsea Island trip or other boats.

First time visiting the Shah of Persia. Booking online was straightforward. Lots of available parking. Greeted with a friendly and polite welcome. Very clean and tidy, excellent service, some good offers available, whilst dining the establishment became very busy which indicates the Shah has a good reputation. The Manageress was present and approached us to check we were happy with our food. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive and we enjoyed the meal. I would recommend you book a table as it did fill up pretty quickly just to avoid disappointment .

The Shah of Persia is your usual Gastro Pub. Situated on a main road in Poole, Dorset. A little dated perhaps and in need of a few improvements like new carpets, windows and bathroom refurbishment. Where this pub shines though is its fantastic staff. We were greeted by Courtney on our arrival who cheerfully informed us of everything we needed to know and looked after us throughout our stay. All room service staff were also excellent. MANY THANKS!

I’ve stayed here a few times now for work the last few weeks/months and the guys working here are just incredible. They are all so humble, easy to talk too and the customer service is absolutely brilliant. The food is decent and the rooms are comfy and clean. 2 particular people who seem to be here all the time are Courtney and Josh. These guys are awesome! They have amazing attention to detail, so kind and just make you feel welcome. It’s a great place to be. You feel comfortable here and it’s a 5* from me! Would thoroughly recommend.

We had a large group in to celebrate a 60th birthday and we were all really pleased with the service and the quality of the food. The prices were all reasonable too.

Good service and food. Great value for the money with the 2 for 1 offers on mains. Really quick and good service. Will be back. Went again a year later; Fast polite service. Good value and prices especially with discount. Had the lighter bite burger which was delicious with a great salad, Mac and cheese was tasteless with a bland salad. The vegetarian Thai curry was just a soup with no substance and not very spicy - luckily added prawns for texture. For reasonable food at good prices it's very good. Would be ice to be able to pay a single bill instead of each item if ordered individually, I understand this reduces likelihood of walkouts not paying.

Such a lovely homely place, staff are always happy and friendly nothing to much trouble. Food always delicious and served promptly. Definitely recommend to friends and family

Bowled over by the level of service and care taken with each customer. We received a warm, friendly welcome from Charlie and he continued to provide a high level of service throughout the evening. Courtney and Josh were also fantastic with Courtney noting that we were having dinner as part of a special celebration which was much appreciated. The food was delicious, hot and great portion sizes. We will return very soon.

Seems an OK place ,staff friendly enough clean room but it is a pub so you will have a bit of noise outside especially around 10pm. If you do stay, avoid room 9 it has the largest kitchen fan and droning noise underneath it with vibration and outside below window, and it doesn't get switched off till 10 pm. Would have given a 3 but the fan noise cancels out anything good about this place.Thus room should not be used for anything other than storage!

Well stayed away for work and as this site had a hotel alo g with it thought would give it a try, Staff fantastic happy and polite good service and great rooms Have already passed on to work and this will be a approved hotel stay location for future use

We stay here whilst visiting our daughter who lives opposite. Always comfortable room, and nice bar and Resturant. Staff are very friendly and helpful.p

Food cooked the way I liked and as the menu described. Using the app to order helped us all chat and get our orders verified and kid approved. Order on the app and never have to leave the table..loved it. Drinks served cold and kids loved the pint sized Pepsi Max.

We spent three days and two nights at this establishment, the food was excellent. The rooms are superb, the staff is very nice. We will come back!

If you're looking for the Ritz this isn't for you. It's basic but clean in the areas that matter. The building is old as are the fixtures and furnishings and really need attention. What makes the difference is the staff, super friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I rang and made an enquiry in the 1st instance but then our plans changed. However, we still booked as Courtney was so lovely and helpful on the phone when I first called that she made me want to stay there. I hope the management read this and look after their staff as they won't get better.

Just got back home after a disastrous evening at the Shah I would like to say that the food was really good and also the staff very helpful BUT 1 1/2 he wait for our meal is definitely unacceptable Not enough waiters/kitchen staff I don’t thing we will be going again

Yet again, fantastic meal with friends , six people arrived , Taken to the table, drinks arrived after we ordered them at the bar very quickly. Food ordered served with a smile. Excellent food was fantastic, thank you very much.

Food was lovely, unfortunately they couldn't cope with our large group the food came out all at different times the children meals were last to come,some was missing and was brought food we didn't order, one meal was so late coming out as needed re cooking , Josh was great at trying to sort the issue we were given free puddings unfortunately courtneys attitude was rude and unprofessional

On entry got greeted for our booking, take to a sticky table for 7 of us. Informed to order at the bar and handed menus, all good until we had to go back and ask for children's menus and allergy menu. Placed our order, 6 out of 7 meals came out in 10 mins. Burgers were burnt and buns like charcoal, chips were overcooked and burnt. Had to send 3 meals back to be re-cooked. When the returns arrived, the outstanding meal arrived as well, gammon. The atmosphere and service was all about rush and serve, after complaining, we chose to leave as there was no option for a refund. Offered deserts but wanted to leave. Manager refused to offer any refund as in her opinion, the food had been reserved. Ramsay's kitchen would have a field day, lots of people silently leaving and not returning. Take your cash and serve slap dash. I will not be returning to this establishment or recommending to my friends.

First thing you notice when walking in is the damp smell, then look around it looks like a pub unloved by the owners. No curtains tables are sticky, looks very tired. The food is like something from a takeaway, Needs some money spent like the red lion Hamworthy which is a lot better now.

Disgusting smell inside the pub, outside was an advert 2 pints of beer for £7, but when we got inside the barman said it's only on Friday which wasn't true. Also the tables were not clean enough, glasses left from previous customers we had to admire them

We were in room 7 we found the beds were comfy the shower was superb,the staff friendly nothing was to much trouble,the food was excellent will definitely be returning next year

Steak was very chewy, couldn't eat it, onion rings was hard and crispy, unfortunately it wasn't what I expected, but I can say I've tried it, never again.

Had a stake and my daughter had a chicken sandwich. The lady behind the bar I didn’t get her name unfortunately was amazing. After taking our order she was running around doing absolutely everything from that I could see. From cleaning tables to taking orders, nothing was to much. My daughter has social anxiety so doesn’t like to be out to much but she’s asked me when we are going back. The food was spectacular also. So thank you to that lady

We had a lovely evening the manager not sure of her name the blonde lady but wow she was amazing she went out of her way to make our evening fantastic she was rushed off her feet but still made sure me and my family was ok massive credit to her ! and thankyou for being so good with our children would definitely recommend this place food is spot on !

The Shah is my local and it’s always good. Sunday roast is done much better elsewhere, but everything else has always been great and the team are all very friendly.

The waiter Charlie and manager Carly were amazing and super attentive, nothing was too much for her. Very smiley and happy also our food was absolutely gorgeous and scrummy, been again and the new Curry and kebabs are amazing 5*

Had an amazing meal here, my waitress Josh was amazing and my Surf and Turf was cooked to absolute perfection but the chef Tyler.

The evening was really good, staff very friendly, I was meeting with an old friend for a meal, we ordered it through the table service, we arrived at just after 6.30 and didn’t leave until closing time, we had a very good evening.

Great visit to the shah of Persia, the staff were so professional and prompt. Courtney and Josh in particular quick and friendly. I will definitely be coming back. Despite the restaurant and bar being rammed, they worked brilliantly as a team to still produce top service. Was great to see! 5/5.

it was my sons birthday no vodka service bad, food not good we had steak. would not returne it was my sons bithday. I now have to take him out somewhere else at more cost I used to stay and eaten food there, then it was good, but no more. This good be a great place.like it was. At the moment weatherspoons is a 100% better than you How can a pub have no vodka and food steak else for a nice meal
