We visited to celebrate a friend’s birthday. On arrival we were seated in the conservatory which was very noisy, but we asked to be moved to a quieter table which was very kind considering the restaurant was very busy but they moved us without a fuss. The food was excellent, we had the breakfast, and then we treated ourselves to a cake from the deli on the way out which I have just consumed with a cup of tea this afternoon and it was delicious! The service was friendly & excellent without being over-the-top. Highly recommend. Lots of lovely things to choose from in the shop area as well. The gifts/goods are probably on the expensive side, but if you are looking for something special there are lots of things to choose from and the cards are reasonably priced and good quality. Highly recommend a visit and the plant nursery has some lovely plants too. Top tip – you must pre-book the restaurant as it gets very busy and we have visited before and been disappointed because we hadn’t booked.

Super service from great staff. Always a pleasure to eat here. The food is freshly prepared and we visit very regularly which is a recommendation in itself. It gets very busy so always best to book a table so you are not disappointed

As a regular visitor to The Granary, I have never been disappointed. The staff are wonderful and always go the extra mile, the atmosphere is lovely and the food has been perfect every time we've visited. Service can be on the slow side at times but it's nearly always full when we visit, so it's to be expected and for me doesn't in any way detract from the overall experience. A wonderful charity, with kind and attentive staff, keep doing what you do!

We recently hired this restuarant to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary with 50 family and friends. We visited today to enjoy the autumn colours in the gardens, and in the Granary we experienced impeccable service. Our boys enjoyed the cake and the largest hot chocolate in the world complete with marshmallows and cream. Whilst my cheeky glass of wine chilled and poured to perfection was perfect. If a cheese board desert was on the board that would have been perfect but the salted caramel brownie went down well. Thank you

Just had the worst carrot and lemon cakes ever. We were told the main restaurant was full and so were directed to a small cafe. Alarm bells were ringing when we were told the coffee cake was just ready as had defrosted. Both pieces of cake were dry and all the toppings just crumbled off. We both took one bite and left the rest.

My wife and I had afternoon tea, and were delighted with the quality, variety and value-for-money of the items provided. We have had afternoon tea in many places, some much more expensive but of greatly inferior quality. The ambience in the conservatory is also excellent. In all, a very pleasant experience, with friendly staff and a beautiful shop to browse through afterwards.

The converted barn with a conservatory extension makes for lovely surrounding for lunch or the excellent afternoon tea. The menu offers a good choice, we chose the burger and fish and chips - both of which were excellent.

The Granary Restaurant, based at a Christian caring initiative farm on the outskirts of North Leeds, is truly a hidden surprise. A great deal of money has been put into converting an original barn into this airy, friendly place and professional catering staff run it. A great menu and well worth hunting out. A find.

A year or two ago, we were given vouchers for afternoon tea and on asking if we could have all brown bread sandwiches, we were told “no”, there can be no changes even if we opted for a cheaper meal. We were again given vouchers last year ( for a special birthday) for afternoon tea by a friend. As we had a hectic year end last year and also at the beginning of this year, it was June before we got the chance to make a booking. On checking the vouchers, we realised for the first time that the vouchers were valid for a mere 6 months. On phoning up to request an extension, we were told this was not possible. At first, The Granary was adamant and wouldn’t budge. I replied that for a religious organisation, their intransigent attitude was hardly charitable. I eventually got an agreement to make a booking within a week. I advised we were completely engaged that week, then got a booking for 3/7/18, a fortnight’s extension being their final offer. The afternoon tea price for one is £11.95 but the food is nothing special for that price. Will not go again. By way of comparison, we had afternoon tea, today, at Booths. Their price is £12.50 FOR TWO (with a Booths loyalty card, otherwise £15 for two). The food was far better and there was much more.

We had a delicious lunch here. I had poached salmon salad which was spot on and delicious, my mum had the gammon and egg meal and enjoyed it. The only downside was the third member of our party who was looking forward to a sandwich as he is limited to his choices and they had been taken off the menu. He was disappointed and had a scone and jam.

Visited for lunch with our daughter, and were blown away by the whole experience. Excellent fresh food, helpful and friendly staff, lovely surroundings, and what a brilliant concept. We all had salads - one poached salmon, one quiche and one stuffed pepper, which were all delicious with fruit included in the lovely salad, and raspberry dressing provided.

We always enjoy our visits to The Granary Restaurant at Caring for Life in the beautiful countryside near Leeds. The food is all home cooked and delicious, the staff friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in the historic surroundings of the great barn just right for a celebration or a meeting with friends. There is a great family “feel” and all ages are welcomed. The farm shop, nursery garden centre, separate coffee shop, the gardens, children’s play area and the nature walk are all “musts” as well.

We've been here a few times & like the fresh-cooked local produce. The new menu is even better - there's lots I'd like to go back and try...probably will !

From light bites to full breakfasts, reasonably priced good choices too. Can recommend the kippers served with poached egg, tomatoes and two slices of toast, and the full breakfast was enjoyed by my companion. Good cups of tea and my coffee served, as requested, at the strength I enjoy Pleasant and helpful staff along with a cheerful chef too!

It’s been a few years since I last visited and I was not happy THEN. So I did not have high expectations. But NOW I was blown away. I knew I wouldn’t order any meat as due to previous gristly/fatty meat disasters. So I ordered the avocado toast. O man. It was delicious. Really was. As you drive in you start to feel yourself unwind as the countryside surrounds you it's in such a gorgeous setting. We looked round the nursery and bought some Christmas baubles then had a look round the farm shop and bought a few gifts and some pies for tea. The cafe was closed for refurbishment so we went to the restaurant which was delicious. The food was lovely and the service really spot on. We walked it off with a wonder around the sensory garden. I have supported this cafe since it first opened sadly I think it as gone down hill I have been in again today and had a coffee and a scone the scone as got smaller and I was asked if I would like jam and cream. I was not told the cream was a pound it doesn't say the cream is extra and I don't think this is right. It should show on the menu the management don't care when this is pointed out to them but I wonder if this is legal I was told cream is expensive so that might be why they don't tell you it's the principle that counts

I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich. Most of it was gristle so much of it went uneaten. The waiter asked if everything was okay so I said no, showed him the inedible sandwich; he said 'sorry about that.' He didn't offer to do anything about it though. I was with friends so I didn't want to make a fuss; he should have offered to take it off the bill, but he didn't. The shop is way overpriced too. Won't be going back. High Trees newly refurbished Cafe, just up the road is fabulous, they need to visit there to see how it's done.

Took a bit of finding on first visit but worth the trouble. Hadnt booked but table was available quite quickly on Friday lunchtime. Not a huge menu but steak and chips was very good and came quickly. Nice desert as well. Plenty of interesting items in the adjoining deli and lots of free tastes available. Interesting garden to explore outside. Recommended.

I called in with a friend for lunch before a walk. The restaurant was super busy but we managed to get the last table in the beautiful airy restaurant. There were plenty of choices on the menu and a few specials to choose from. The food arrived really nicely presented and it was delicious. We also stopped for a pudding which was gingerbread and apple cake with caramel sauce.. they were not right on the sauce which earns extra brownie points in my eyes.

Came here when it opened and had an amazing experience for about a year then it went downhill. Yesterday convinced me that I won't be going back in a hurry. Ordered soup, tasteless supposedly vegetable but more like parsnip and carrot with odd shavings of tomato skin as decoration - not nice. Bread roll not nice either and they used to have such lovely bread. Also ordered a bowl of chips which arrived in a tiny bowl and were not that nice for which I paid £2.75 - what a rip off - definitely gone downhill.
