I have been using gourmet for about 15 years and it has been by far the best Chinese in the area all I can say is the chef’s must have been changed unfortunately the last three meals have not tasted anything like they used to no flavour and not enjoyable so that is it for me what a shame GOURMET get your old chef’s back and let me know when you do !!! ☹️

Have used gourmet garden for a long time not any more. The food was terrible had Cantonese sweet sour chicken mushroom fried rice, also special chow mien sweet sour was nearly all veg hardly any chicken also chow mien the same. Putting prices up and quality down never again

First time having Chinese teak-away here as we were on holiday. I have to say that it was one of the best Chinese I’ve had, very tasty and good value for money. I called them up and gave them good feedback as we were all very pleased. I would highly recommend them and they are also very friendly. Thank you. 😎👍🏻👏🏻

Excellent takeaway! Sweet and sour pork and chicken chow mein. Just down the road from us and will use again.

Thought would try a take away from here last time food just warm batter on prawn balls not cooked and small portions sweet and sour sauce carton so small and chiew mein was so bland can’t say it was cheap either last time for us

This is the 2nd time we have ordered Chinese from Gourmet Garden and both times the food has been excellent. I thought the food was tasty first time as we ordered during lockdown and it was the first takeaway for ages! This time was just as good. Food arrived very quickly, was hot, well bagged up and exactly as ordered. The crispy duck was off the bone and crispy (many takeaways serve it on the bone and lacks the crispiness) and served with a good allocation of cucumber, spring onion, hoisin sauce and pancakes. Perfick! I tried something different this time, Salt and Pepper Stripped Chicken, and to say it was a taste sensation would an understatement. I was actuality making ‘mmmmm’ noises as I ate it. In summary, great food, good prices, quick delivery and would recommend.

Ordered Takeaway from here while in Clacton and was Seriously one of the Best I’ve had and that’s saying something as I’ve had hundreds over the Years! Egg fried rice was delicious and Sweet and Sour Prawn balls very nice too. Meat Pancake Roll tasty and Chicken Satay cooked well with the best peanut Sauce ever! I would definitely recommend this place for a takeaway if in the Area...

Open during lockdown was the first delight, delivered in under an hour (was expecting longer as so busy), excellent friendly, patient and helpful service over the phone, and the most delicious food ever delivered to home. Fussy boyfriend was very impressed with the crispy duck taken off the bone, and every dish was really tasty. Good portion sizes, normal prices. Highly recommend.

We have used this take away for 10 years, in that time we have had cause to complain 3 times, because they used the wrong sauce. They apologise but that is it, no refund or money off or anything. The last time we ordered our chicken dish was not cooked, the chicken was slimy and raw. We will not be using the place again, they have lost our business.

We ordered this as a one off because our usual was closed. This was amazing! I would definitely return. The whole family couldn’t believe how nice it was. Good was hot, lovely staff and quick delivery! Thank you Gourmet Gardens

£62 Chinese order on holiday for the family, small bag of prawn crackers was not enough for such a large order, s/s sauce taste like dish water, most dishes dried up. Definitely not the standard of Chinese we are use to, delivery driver tried to leave a portion of chicken balls in his car until I pointed out he had pushed them out of the delivery bag, not impressed. Wouldn't recommend 2/10

Our third visit here, between a year apart and still as delicious as our first visit, we only stay up here 2-3 times a year and it’s never disappointed ever, the food is quick but not rushed, staff are friendly and couldn’t recommend this place enough, coming from London and having every type of food on your doorstep all vying for your business so quality is top notch, this place tops these all day long. Loved it!

One of the best Chinese takeaways that we have been to in a long time, only visited Clacton-On-Sea for a short break but was pleased that we stopped here for dinner, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted delightful, will definitely go again on our next visit to the area again! Yum.

Totally ruined my Saturday night After a day of shopping I was too lazy to cook: on my way home drove past and thought f**k it I’ll get a cheeky Chinese. After a 25 minute wait for the food I hurried home and grabbed a plate and fork and run upstairs as fast and my fat butt would take me.... shoving a programme on Netflix thinking I cba to sit here for an hour picking something I actually wanna watch I Dished up my food and thought yes mate looks delish.......It was terrible: the king prawn chow mein was burnt to crisp. The curry sauce was runny like your s*it after a massive curry. The kung Po chicken was average but the chicken balls were completly unediable they were so chewy and unbitable id of won an award just for finally swallowing it. Don’t even get me started on the prawn crackers: they were so thin I could of just got a packet of Pringles. So the fat girl left the food and went to bed hungry moral of the story go to your local don’t try new!

Over the years it’s been my experience that many a good eating place has been maligned by a few but praised by the many as long as the many are good to excellent! Arrived in Jaywick on Saturday for a week’s break and naturally didn’t want to cook on Sunday so Trip Adviser to the rescue! Subsequently found this Chinese food takeaway and lol just up the road, as stated earlier read the reviews which indicated overall a good food experience by the many. We were not disappointed we ordered for four was told 10mins thought wow that’s really quick, we arrived after 12mins food done and really well cooked, hot and tasty, House special chow mien, Singapore fried rice, s & s chicken, Singapore chow mien, prawn crackers, excellent, as the saying goes ‘you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression’ will be going again before we go back home. Well done Gourmet Garden!

It’s our favourite Chinese food delivery service. The hot dishes are quite spicy which is nice. Always enjoy the food and we’ve tried a variety of dishes. Yum!

Nunca me decepcionó. Hemos estado usando este para llevar, ya que mover a septiembre pasado. A veces tienen con sus amigos o en casa por nuestra cuenta. Sí hemos tenido una entrega muy tarde pero nos advirtieron sobre pedidos. Normalmente puede ser un poco pronto o un poco tarde, lo mismo que cualquier decente servicio de entrega a domicilio. Hemos recopilado y que son muy rápidos en conseguir su pedido listo. Hemos probado otros 2 cerca de nosotros y han sido basura. Normalmente tienen un par de China y la India para llevar un par de meses. Aunque una mano en el corazón, normalmente de la India es mi favorito. No más. Nuestros Indios reabierto después de un descanso de temporada y ya no es de lejos tan bueno como el año pasado. No oímos que ha cambiado de propietario. Creo que han invertido en la presión, ya que están recibiendo las verduras y pollo que shreads empapados. Es probable que no utilice a menos que oír que mejora. En nuestra opinión, el jardín gourmet es consistentemente bueno en la variedad de platos variados que orden y compartir con amigos. El personal ha sido siempre muy eficiente y amable.

Been buying from here for about 5 years but over the last year or so the delivery has been terrible, quoted 45 minutes and took 2 hours and food arrived cold, the food is nice when you get a good one but is a bit hit and miss (maybe different chefs on different nights). I used to order at least once a week at an average cost of £40 but have now stopped using them and I'm doing the rounds trying to find a good Chinese.

By far the worst Chinese I've ever had was "Dirty" and greasy I have been ordering from here for 8 years I was disappointed when I once complained for a wrong order they sent a driver to collect my order and brought nothing back! Still feel they owed me!!!! Staff was so rude!! I started going to another Chinese but to my horror by accident my husband ordered from here last night!!!! What happened to this place?? It's disgraceful pure filth NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

Menu is good, prices are average. Food is yummy. We usually have a set menu for one, which is plenty for the two of us. Pick up is usually 15 minutes, delivery is free over £12 but does take longer.

We have been ordering from this take away for the last 5-8 years as the food was always tasty, hot, as ordered and on time. What's happened????? The last 3 orders from here have been none of the above and I mentioned this to one...

Aunque la comida está bien me parece muy desagradable mientras espera por el mal estado interior. No parece muy limpio y Desesperadamente necesita modernización. Sin duda, algo puede ser hecho para hacerlo más atractivo.

I have recently started using this chinese with no problems until today we ordered our normal food with the added butterfly chicken and I have to say it was utterly disgusting it had a rubber texture like it had been reheated the plain noodles were overcooked and stodgy the chicken curry was bland and had no life to the sauce whatsoever and the chicken was rather poor to say the least the spring roles were pretty poor for such a simple thing the sea weed was over salty and not crunchy enough I called to only give some criticism about the the butterfly chicken to say it was inedible and I'd like a refund to get told he will refund and never order from him again he was utterly rude and could not hear what he was saying but I did not appreciate it at all to say the least and he will be sorry to lose a customer like myself and I would advice asking the lady on the phone what mood he is in before ordering as for the food he served today after being informed by the lady on the phone he was no happy it obvious effects his cooking as the food in my opinion was totally poor and unexceptable and his customer service skills were effected by his rude abusive attitude so you can order from here if you like but don't say I never warned you

Some things are not great but most things are and we use them regularly, just some things we no longer order, but that is down to personal taste. We have never tried delivery, always order in shop and takeaway.

Ordered a takeaway from here. To our disappointment, they got the order wrong. We then had to drive down and wait for them to re make our order, before going home to eat. The food was of a reasonable standard, nothing amazing. Would only ever order here in person not via phone so I can check food order so I know it won't be wrong and result in a repeat of this experience.

Very generous portions and great tasting. Good fast delivery. Will use regularly and. Recommended. Nice clean establishment and great variety you will not be disappointed!!!

If I ever want Chinese this is the only place I go to. I call them and ask them how long it takes and in 6 years they have never got my order wrong. Love the crispy chilli beef.

Food was fine if you don't have taste buds every dish tasted the same which was a great Shame and could not tell the difference between dishes

we had food from here and it wasn't like over the moon but it was ok. we had better but it will improve I think. we will eat from here again..

We are regulars here and have never had anything we didn't like! Only bad point is that it's a bit of a victim of its own success and popularity at weekends! Deliveries can take up-to 2 hours in busy periods. Luckily we live 2 mins car ride away so can collect. But sometimes collection times can be a bit out and you find yourself waiting in the shop for an extra 10mins. But it's all worth the wait! Fantastic food.

First to Clacton and a visit to this place, food was great and some different choices to our local restaurant.

We went to this Chinese because of the reviews on tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. The food was very tasty with an excellent variety and all freshly made. Can't fault it at all.

I've been using this takeaway for two years now and no other Chinese comes close to it. They have never said no to a request.

When using the delivery service the food was delivered on time, piping hot and was excellent. Have also used the takeaway, the staff are friendly, food was again piping hot and very yummy! Would recommend everybody looking for a reasonably priced and excellent Chinese Takeaway to give it a try, I will be very surprised if you are disappointed.

I used this takeaway whilst staying at Martello beach. I wish it was in Rainham!!!!! The food was hot and tasty and good value for money.

The staff were friendly and the service was fast. The food was of excellent standard and you got a lot for your money. The price of the food was what you would expect to pay.
