Happy House Chinese in Tendring

This is the worst Chinese I have ever had. Chicken balls burnt and dry. Singapore noodles were like elastic bands and somehow they made a dry duck fried rice and the ribs had no meat on them. I was unable to eat this food and I really am not that fussy. This place truly is awful, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Got told 45 mins for collection waited 1hr then when I asked they said another 20 minutes. Complete time wasters. Stay well away ruined Saturday night dinner.

Terrible takeaway, incinerated chicken and pork balls, cooked in old fat!! The veg smelt off in the pancake roll, had to spit it out, all went in the bin. Will NEVER go back!!!

Ordered from these people last night waited 4 hours for it not to turn up at all , every time we called to ask where it was we was told 45mins, we use this takeaway twice a week not anymore I’ll try KamWah in point clear

I can't believe you spend £30 and don't get free prawn crackers, so bloody mean, they also charge for large rice or small rice, at the price they charge who cares about size, this is the worst Chinese iv been to in a long long time, very greedy people,also food over cooked

Absolutely perfect takeaway. They were honest about the wait time (Saturday night), was so worth it. Largest sweet and sour chicken balls we have ever seen! Crispy beef was perfect. Very well done the all, thank you. This was our first time ordering but you now have new customers.

Can’t remember a more disappointing take away. Was having a nice weekend until ending it by ordering from Happy House. The meat in every dish was dryer than eating concrete and the crispy chilli beef was as crispy as a yogurt. The only positive from ordering from here is that I know for future reference .. it would be better to eat out of a bin then order from here again.

Lovely food never had a problem always arrive hot

For the last five years of so I have to say this restaurant has gone down hill by the month, it was to salty now it's just bland, they are also more expensive than north London , if it doesn't buck up it can shut up, no good at all

Simply ordered a meal for myself, shrimp curry hot , special rice and sweet and sour chicken balls, got prawn curry not hot , so frustrating when you’ve ordered such a simple meal

Food was bitter and had to return as it was impossible to eat.

Food is great and worth waiting for. Saturday nights you might have to wait a long while. It would be better if you could pay over the phone for delivery, at the moment delivery is cash only unless you order and pay in shop first.

Pleasant staff and surroundings. Waiting times vary depending on work load.

I don't like it will never order again

Moved to the area in May and found this Chinese. It’s THE BEST!!! We love our weekly Chinese! The staff are so friendly as well! Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Have been using this chinese for years now on my regular monthly visits to my caravan have ordered fir delivery today fir myself and family half off my food missing which they said I never ordered the food tasted like it was cooked in very old oil for of grease and nasty taste sad to say I will not be returning no more after 20 years off my custom not sure if under new management im so disappointed 😌

Haven’t had a Chinese for a long time and this place was worth the wait. The food was reasonably priced and tasted lovely. We all really enjoyed it.

We use this Chinese every time we stay at Lee Wick Farm, collection or delivery. Great food, really good value!

Ordered by phone to collect, arrived and paid, sat in there 20mins plus, then ro find out the food had been sitting on the counter since I arrived, then to top it all having stated twice on the phone I wanted house special RICE, i get home and its house special noodles, will not use this take away EVER AGAIN !!!!!!

Myself and a group of friends ordered a takeaway from Happy House on Saturday 20th August, as we have previously enjoyed their food on our yearly visit to the area. This year, however, 3 of us (including myself) became extremely unwell throughout Saturday night with sickness and diarrhoea. We are unsure which dish/dishes caused this but will not be returning to this Chinese takeaway in the future. I would be concerned regards their hygiene and preparation standards, and would not want to risk becoming unwell again. This was a very unpleasant end to our long weekend away.

Tried it for the first time last weekend, I have to say it was one of the tastiest meals in recent memory. Very happy to report I will be going back for a second helping next time I am in the area. Not at all greasy 😋

No stars poor service ordered our meal at 6pm to be delivered at 8.30pm after 2 phone calls it arrived at 9.10 offered us £4.00 comp gave them the meal back please please Do not use happy house waste of time

Waited quite a while for our take away but they were busy unfortunately not as nice as usual but that's probably because they were so busy

Disgusting food don't even bother crunchy chicken,curry sauce yuk and honey roast ham ham cut up swimming in microwaved honey poored all over it yuk go back no chance close it down best chance ....oh and cash only yet again another Chinese restaurant not claiming true taxes to the tax man

I rate myself as a connoisseur of Chinese takeaways and must say this did not disappoint as a holiday stand in for my usual in south London. Delivered to the holiday park hot and fresh; great portions & good value. Biggest chicken balls I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a few in my time. Would defo recommend if you’ve had enough of the usual fish n chips!

Just had a takeaway whilst on holiday at St. Osyth. It was absolutely brilliant. Hot, tasty and delicious. Keeping the menu in case we come this way again.

Absolutely poor service , told us their car was on fire, it’s less than a km away, no fire was reported in the radius nor was an accident. Therefore they lied

Good food and reasonable prices

Some of the best Chinese I’ve had. Was busy so we had a 45 minute wait which was fine as we went for a drink at the pub. Food was tasty, not greasy and hot. Noodles were great. Staff friendly and polite.

The food is excellent value for money

For take away food, it is always hot and tasty. Sometimes a little salty for my taste, but then I don't eat salt as a rule so I am biased there. At busy times the service can be slow.

Friday the 9th we purchased nearly £50 worth of take away , we usually have really tasty hot food from them but this time , I cannot even begin to tell you how awful it was . The sweet and sour balls were incinerated. I cannot understand why any venue would dream of sending this out . Will not be purchasing from here again .

Best freshly cooked chines food ever.

Ordered a delivery this evening. Was told to collect in 50 mins. Arrived and waited a further 20 mins. When I queried how much longer was told another 20 mins!! No apologies for inconvenience. So 90 min wait. We ordered £50 of food for 4 people . I ordered grilled chicken as I was trying to be healthy. It actually was deep fried chicken in schezuan sauce. I called them to complain and was advised “grilled” chicken is really deep fried chicken...... really? Again no apologies. Needless to say I’ll go elsewhere in future. Customer service.... zero

We were staying at the Seawick Holiday Park in St.Osyth and fancied a Chinese takeaway. Fantastic service and they delivered to us so we didn’t have to drive and pick it up!! They delivered on time, was very polite and service with a smile. The meal was absolutely lovely, plentiful and tasty. We ordered several dishes as there were four adults eating and there was leftovers. When we visit St. Osyth again we will certainly be having a Chinese from these people

Had a brilliant takeaway from here on a busy BH Saturday night. Chicken curry was to die for

I have ordered from here many times, food has always been okay, nothing more nothing less, but the last time I ordered I got the vegetarian noodles, being a vegetarian of 9 years, and was served noodles with chicken. This would not have been such a issue if I could have seen this and got a replacement instantly, but it was tiny pieces of shredded chicken mixed in and I did not notice until I had already eaten half the portion. Called up and was offered replacement noodles, no refund. I will never order from this place again, be careful ordering if you have any dietary requirements or allergens as they really may not be taken seriously.

We order from here once a week and the food doesn’t disappoint. The menu is extensive but I find a lot of the dishes seem to be the same. It’s reasonably priced but they do tend to get the wait time very wrong, like if they tell you it will be half an hour don’t listen it won’t it will be more like 50 mins and my only other gripe is they only take cash which to be honest I find a bit dodgy.

Loved this place. Bout ordered last night. Disappointed special chow mein has no shrimps or prawns. Delivery guy added his tip to the price. I always tip but he didn't get one last night. I will reserve judgement until after I order again but as I said disappointed

Top quality chineese food, reasonably priced , good service , and they do deliveries , very busy at peak times so order early not to be disappointed ....

We were staying at Hutley’s caravan park and ordered a Chinese takeaway from Happy House.It is only a 5 minute drive away so we went to collect but the lady in the shop said they also deliver straight to the caravan.Food was fresh and delicious. Portion size is also plentiful - we had a enough to eat again for lunch the next day.Only issue is that they do not accept card payment so you need to make sure you have cash.

Waited 2 hours 50mins for it to be delivered, after spending 45mins trying to get through on phone to see what was happening (constantly engaged). It finally turned up, the only good thing was the food tasted lovely, but not willing to wait that amount of time again.

The food has got salty and down hill of new, people in oak mead nicer food and cheaper so happy house must up its game

Had our first delivery last night direct to our caravan. It arrived in less than 30 minutes with a very nice lady and was piping hot and absolutely delicious.

Worst Chinese I've had for some time you could taste the dirty oil in the chicken balls never again

Recently moved to st osyth, Sorry to say ...but very salty food..noodles and pancake rolls have old oil taste and smell, to cap this off even had gristle on my chicken curry..would like to try again but food has 2 improve hugely.....today you have to be so careful of food..i may try once more..

Bad service called 1 hour before ordered for collection arrived 1 hour later to collect only to find order not even cooked ..I was not alone ether 5 other people had the same problem. The food not great ether ..they can deliver to your door maybe should have done that . Won't be using again best use your phone and find an alternative most in the area deliver to your door anyway .

We had delivered to our caravan site. Very fast delivery considering sat night and X factor on, a bit too fast for £62 of food. Only waited about 15 min if that (used to hour waits on Saturdays). Chicken balls and prawn balls battered perfect, not burnt or hard. Main issue was the chow mein. We ordered chicken, plain and mushroom. Very very greasy and no flavour whatsoever. Couldn't eat the curry either. Ordered chicken curry and beef curry. Not sure about anyone else but I've never had a chicken curry that comes with mushroom and massive carrots. Usually some peas, onion and beansprouts. Tasted like it had been prepared and packaged earlier and warmed up. Definitely not fresh. Chicken breast also hard, that's what makes me think it. Ok if your starving but didn't eat mine.

This was the second time we have used them and the food is top drawer. If you are after a Chinese and live near st South you must get it from here

This is my local chinese, overall it's ok , not as good as Amber in Great Clacton . The food is ok , I've had a few dodgy meals , the food was a bit burnt . The owners changed so I assume the new owners are learning.

Just had this Chinese and it was worth every penny! Lovely food very enjoyable would definitely recommend and will be having again.

We visited St Osyth last week and fancied a Chinese. I find decent Chinese takeaways to be few and far between. This was lovely!! We ordered quite a few dishes and all of them were tasty. Particularly the mixed curry and chow mein. Pleasantly surprised. We will definitely use again when we return to St Osyth. :-)

Así la gente hambre pedimos 60 libras de comida desde aquí nos quedamos muy contentos con todo lo que cada poco comimos y comimos no podíamos decidir lo que quería pedir todo lo que queríamos y no me decepcionó en absoluto. Había 5 de nosotros comimos 3 veces cada pelotas de pollo una ganadora. Alas de Pollo para morirse no puedo parar todo era muy agradable y fresco. Debo decir que siendo una chef yo soy muy exigente con la comida, pero no tengo ninguna queja. Conseguir algunos mmmmmm

To be honest you couldn't want for a better local Chinese take away restaurant, nice people, great food.

Food was hot and on time. Tasted bland no flavours and barbecue sauce was watered down. Disappointing as we only have a takeaway once a month.

Very tasty. Little on the expensive side, and I believe they only take cash - no cards. But still recommended if you want a tasty Chinese.

He utilizado este para llevar en muchas ocasiones. Aunque siempre recogieron el llevar, nunca tuvimos una entrega. La comida siempre encantador y tamaño porciones decentes. Las bolas de pollo son enormes y te dan un montón! Tuve las bolas de gambas dulce y agria la última vez y estaban deliciosos! El único inconveniente es que solo aceptan efectivo!
