The Goose in Thanet

I went to The Goose on Friday with my wife, son and my son's partner. My wife and myself decided to have meal. To be fair it wasn't expensive but it was probably one of the worst pub meals I've ever eaten. We both ordered the beef and ale pie, mashed potato and peas. The peas and the mash were OK but the pie had been cooked to within an inch of its life. The meat was black and the crust was very very hard. I had to swamp it in gravy to soften it up. Never again!

The goose fantastic experience and has a tail of two half's. In the day the goose serves good quality gastro pub food with a number of local ales and lagers. This includes the 'wing it your way'. 7 different sauces on a plate of excellent chicken wings X 30. The night allows you to get your boogie on while still providing the same and expanded drinks menu. The staff in the day and night are friendly, professional and are happy to help. Fully recommend and glad to be back after the lockdown.

The staff in this venue need to be seriously trained in customer service. Food is ok but the staff let it down.

Visited this pub while on holiday in Ramsgate on Sunday and Monday night. Very profesional and friendly staff, prompt delivery of drinks, very nice food. I felt very safe with the measures in place regarding covid-19. Definitely recommend.

Came here to eat on night when we were in Ramsgate for a short break. I booked this before hand as it was an Eat out to Help Out night,.Since we were last here about 2 years ago the place has gone downhill. We didn't feel very safe here at all, as the tables seemed to be too close together, and a young family dining on next table had couple of kids who were running around. It cant be blamed on the place being packed because it was mostly empty.The meal wasn't very god either, so we paid and left as soon as we had eaten. We are aware that you get what you pay for and this was cheap (half price), but still didn't think it was worth it.We would not eat here again.

Visited this pub while on holiday in Ramsgate. Very friendly staff. Food was absolutely superb. Had the burger meal which was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time and was really reasonably priced. Can't fault it.

This place has probably the best breakfast in town, freshly cooked and tasty. Didn't realise but when paying was told it was half price..as they were carrying on the eat out to help out through September. Has a warm friendly atmosphere and is a great place to eat. After trying several places the past week this was the best of the lot. Obviously underrated I would definitely recommend.

Came in for a meal last week during the 50% off, food was amazing and so were the staff! Felt really safe, everything was great for social distancing and the rules they had in place were nice and simple to follow. Staff were working really hard and were still smiling .. will definitely be returning!

On a recent visit, we found finding somewhere to eat, even a pub that did decent food, really difficult. However The Goose saved the day. No queues, very clean and the food was good. Large interior so no social distancing issues.Ironically, as we walked back to the car along the front, just behind the beach, we came across a huge queue to even get in to Wetherspoons. They had no idea that two minutes away was a better option that had no queues.

The Bar staff got both the drinks order and food order totally wrong however the lady that sorted it couldn’t have been more helpful. Unfortunately the food was very mediocre which is unusual.

Cannot speak highly enough of the food- it was amazing but the service was slow! One waitress serving 6 tables at least whilst 2 other employees were stood chatting. I hope it will be better next time! I will try again.

Popped into the goose last night for a pint and a meal the prices are excellent and the service is just as good had a very good evening for next to nothing

Cheap drinks and a very well priced menu make this place a great option for a budget bite to eat and a drink. It is basic but relaxed. Friendly staff and speedy service. Music playing in the background and sport on the many TV screens. Highly recommended.

A pub with bargain food,full of school age children. Bargain food,and quite well prepared and tasty, It was quiet,we ordered food and drink,then suddenly it was full of children all at the bar,and playing pool,quite noisy.

Had a number of meals here now and everyone was freshly cooked and hot. Ok, it’s simple pub food but pub food at its best. Good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Breakfast is a real bargain.

15 seated for Sunday breakfast - staff great, service good and good food quality and value and not rushed which was nice.

Had food here and have to say it was really good! They have just had a new menu and the choice is amazing with some unique stand out items. Service was friendly, food came out in good time, was hot and cooked very well. Try the burgers here, they are amazing (triple chicken with Korean sauce).Really worth a visit. Well done.

Firstly just like to thank all the staff on last night at the Goose (Saturday 13th July). We had a Hen Party there last night and it was amazing.The whole team made us feel so welcome, arranged a private area for us with balloons and decorations.We had a meal and the food is lovely, reasonable and was served very fast. Drinks on offer too and great value.Can't thank them enough for making a night a menorable one. Made the organising of this hen do very easy, with there help. Thank you

This pub was recommended by my parents so we went for a quick pint before food. The barman was very unfriendly and rude when I complained about the drink I had selected to try. I would not recommend you go here if you're looking for a friendly family pub. Will never go there again and if I am honest I am sure they wouldnt care less.

We went in before and after a meal at a restaurant in the same road. Wine was half the price of the restaurant. We went with another couple who were visiting. Good Value and friendly staff.

Food very much on a par with WeathersPoon's but decor has seen better days, and the carpet has that stickiness about it that has seen too many beer spillages, but the fish and chips was very tasty and big portions.

Drug and alcohol fuled young people, not a place where you want your kids to go. 2 people I know were beaten up in there and just outside and had to have surgery. Both were beaten up for no reason. Not a very nice place at all. Avoid

Staff are nice and friendly, drinks are reasonably priced and it is near the harbour so perfect position to be part of a pub crawl. We didn’t eat but had a good time in there.

Went into the house as it looked nice, we bought one of the 2 for £9.49 meals expecting it to be about £6, was charged the full price, I told them it should stipulate on the menu that this is the case. The dish was only about 5 inches across & shallow. Won't be going again !

I thoroughly enjoy going to the goose. Whether it's on a Thursday Thursday night out or just for a quick pub lunch. Food is brilliant and you can find some really good deals too! Staff are always smil i ng and happy to help and the toilets always seem to be kept clean. All round a lovely place to go.

Went in expecting an inferior version of Wetherspoon's. In fact cleaner, friendlier and better value. Food came in very large portions (if medium quality) given what we paid. Would recommend for those on a budget and a large appetite.

As a pub the Goose is great, the restaurant is only average.No waiters come to your table, they open late for a place that serves breakfast, the food is good.

The service is prompt but the menu is fairly drab. Food tends to be okay but not really inspiring - typical pub grub but nothing special.

We found this pub while on holiday in ramsgate a very warm cost atmosphere with really good staff very friendly .our 9 year old son liked the fact he could get free slush puppies just what he needed in the hot summer evenings children are very welcome at this pub but have to be out for about 9 which is plenty late enough .The food was cheap and very good and the beer prices were good to .We are at the house nearly every evening fantastic value for money and we will be definitely going back for our evening meals next year

We visited Ramsgate for a long weekend and came across this place on our travels.

This place has the rides manager is it right that the manager be rude and talk to new staff members like a piece of nothing by him I have seen this by my own eye this is so disgusting to say the least if I was there and saw it again i would of said something to him the young lady in question was polite in every way it was a pleasure to have meet her her name was Jodie and for her to be treated like this is disappointing ive been a bar manager and a chef manager in pubs and clubs I would of been dismissed on the spot for the attitude he showed this young lady

Overall, I did enjoy my experience here, mainly because there was a sizeable gluten-free menu for me to choose from (I have coeliac disease). What I ordered was lovely, I had a gluten free open top cheese and leek pie. I couldn't quite believe it was gluten free, so kept checking with the waitress and she ended up taking a picture of the box to show me. And it was yummy. My friends had normal chicken burgers, and one had a chicken platter (none of them have dietary requirements), and chatting over our meal, we all agreed that the salad/vegetable portions were tiny, and the serving of chips was also very small. Summarising, we would have preferred the side orders to have been bigger, as we felt this devalued the meal and decreased its worth (and so we felt we paid more than we should have done). Very clean environment, very friendly.

Arsenal are currently 1-1 which is a crying shame but I've got a couple of ciders on the 2-4-£7 deal and they were served with loads of ice and fruit. The place is clean and tidy, right next to the beach, the manager has a ref top on and is doing sports table service.

Awful, the manager a lady extremely rude, needs teaching some customer skills, use to bring kids here quiet a bit, will not be returning

Had dinner Thursday night, lovely food which came out quickly. Good selection of gin. Not to busy or noisy.

My friend came to visit on Tuesday evening and we went to the Goose to watch the England football game. Quite surprised how empty it was but the weather was horrible and it was only a friendly. Pretty much all the people in there were eating and the smell of the food made us peckish. We both ended up having a burger and a pint on their Tuesday night deal. It was very good but there was so much of it I couldn't finish it. Would definitely eat again here on a"boys night out". Courage Best at a Great price during the week

A wannabee wetherspoons. Staff training wouldn't go a miss. Food a bit ropey too. Lacking in atmosphere and seems to attract a certain type of clientelle. Won't be revisiting anytime soon.

Been eating for ages had a terrible meal last month thought we’d give it another try wish we didn’t my wife ordered fish and chips the fish was dripping with grease my son had a mixed grill asked for medium steak it was still mooing...

Good choice of beers, wines, good menu for a main meal or a snack, gets busy in the evenings, and loud when the music goes on, I recommend eat early.

Come here at the weekend been once before, always had a good time always a good atmosphere. Cheap drinks and good dj sets in the evening of a weekend. Also shows most big sport games through the day.

Looks nice from the outside. But looks can be decieving! Never judge a book by its cover!! Ordered food for my son an i, asked for no salad in the burger and no bbq sauce on chicken melt, with no peas or tom but with beans. The food came out with salad in the burger and bbq sauce on the melt and a tomato. Wasnt overly fussed about the salad as could pick it out myself, but i mentioned i asked for no bbq sauce an the girl was nice an took it to change it. She came back an said it wont be long as there was already a chicken breast on the grill. When it came bk a few mins later u could see all they had done was replace the cheese an wipe the sauce off the plate, i was not happy as i cant stand bbq sauce, so i went back up to the girl an said im sorry but all u have done is replace the cheese an wiped the sauce off plate, where there was still residue of bbq sauce. I said id like a new piece of chicken and a clean plate. She was nice again an said she would get a new meal for me but there would be a wait, i said that was fine. When it finally arrived the plate was minging u could see it had had old food on it, and when i looked at the chicken i could see there was fresh cheese on it but also u could see a piece of old over cooked cheese on the edge, still with bbq sauce on it. So i go over to complain again an said i wasnt born yesterday i can see its the same piece of chicken again an i wasnt happy. They offered me money back just for that meal i said ok thank you. When the refund came over i was horrified.... £1.50 change!!! I said whats this i was told i was getting a refund for my meal, they said cos of the meal deal id paid full price for the other meal so only got a small difference in change, i said but thats not my problem i was told id be getting the meal refunded. The place is a joke, the refund was an insult, i didnt even eat half the meal. Will never return and will advise people not to go there

Lovely breakfast at a very reasonable price. Great vegetarian meal. Husband ordered two extra portions of mushrooms.was given two mushrooms.

We visited the goose this evening for a meal while on holiday, well service was not good , hardly any meals on menu were unavailable, had to get our own cutlery, no vegetables available, staff just didn't seem to care about there customers satisfaction at all, will not go there again, so fo not recommend this pub at all

It looks like a Weatherspoon's, it serves food like a Wetherspoon's, it serves beer like a Wetherspoon's, but it isn't one. Not too impressed with the place to be honest - it was like a run down pub on a bad day, so we didn't stay too long. Didn't try the food, but what coming out of the kitchen looked OK, but nothing spectacular (just like a Wetherspoon's). It will be interesting what the effect will be of a real Wetherspoon's opening in Ramsgate in August - wait and see!

ive been here a lot either for breakfast which is great value and meals are good too can get 2 for one puddings ,lots of space,drinks and tea.coffee good prices too

We stumbled upon this pub after we had checked into our hotel. It does all day 2 for 1 cocktails and the food is very reasonable, we had a late lunch and it was delicious.(we asked if they do breakfast as well as we hadn't booked it with our hotel, which they did.) We came back to the pub that evening after going to Margate to see a show and enjoyed the DJ and stayed to about 1.30am, which when you think we are oldies was a great feat. There were a couple of problems with a few of our cocktails. like forgetting the prosecco for the pornstar martinis and one bar maid forgetting they were 2 for 1 but it was all quickly rectified. We came back for breakfast on the Sunday morning and this was also delicious. This bar is a gem of a find and the staff are all very friendly and helpful, cocktails are delicious and also the food. Do give this try you won't be disappointed.

Went with my 2 son's for dinner. Picked off menu which was on table. Went to order to be rudly told that's not today's menu! So I picked off the other menu. First told certain drink doesn't come with that set meal. Then rattled off so fast the drinks I could have! I ordered diet pepsi to which I got a shout up from end of bar bring it over as it needs changing. Waited 10 mins no drink so asked if I could have it. Seemed to be to much trouble. When meals arrived son's meals were wrong asked for plain burgers they got salad and sauce. Went over to bar to be dealt by another staff member who said it wasn't put through to kitchen as plain!!! He changed them. Food was ok. Then all off a sudden tv went loud and football was on!! We finished quick and left. Wasn't expecting The Ritz but the service was very poor in fact the person dealing we us was very loud and clearly has no customer service. Cheap and not very cheerful.

About as close to being a Wetherspoons as you'll find in Ramsgate. Very similar menu, loads of real ales and very reasonable prices.

Got down from London and was looking for a quick snack, good selection of ales, ordered steak, as it was grill night, helpful staff, meal come in a reasonable time, and was as good as one you would pay twice the price for, over all, very enjoyable.

We have tried both breakfast and dinner in this pub/restaurant over a course of a few trips throughout the years and have never been disappointed with any of our dishes, the chefs are great cooks and make sure your dish comes out right first time, the staff are great and non intrusive which is nice, there is nothing worse than someone coming to your table mid meal to ask "is everything ok ?" The bar has a variety of beers,ciders,spirits, cocktails and non alcoholic drinks , there are so many to choose from it will make your head spin but they are are all priced very fairly. This is a very good place to go to have a hot delicious meal that is very generous on portion sizes and is good value for money, they have entertainment at night and we can imagine it gets quite lively but we are yet to experience the nightlife at The Goose but we are sure it is probably fun and worth a visit. We would recommend this to people visiting in the area to go and enjoy a hearty meal and great well kept drinks.

This place is good for a quick bite to eat while watching the sport etc, food is good and not too pricey, staff were pretty friendly and helpful all in all was ok.

After much investigation we decided to book here for 10 people months ago because we have a disabled person in our group . This is a family get together that we arranged every year and we stay here in Ramsgate ...Well ummm got there .No knowledge of our booking .Told we could eat here BUT we'd have to order within 23 minutes as the kitchen was closing !!! It was 7.30pm on a sunday night No apologies. No investigation as to what went wrong .Really terrible customer service ....... Clearly didn't want our custom.Anyway all was not lost we found somewhere around the corner who wanted to serve us , gave us great service and I'm afraid you missed out on a massive tip and a massive paid bill !!!! Me thinks you won't be there much longer if you treat customers like they are a pain in the @£$€ !!!!

The staff here seemed annoyed that we dared to order food before the kitchen closed! There was misdirection, denial, huffing and puffing, door slamming and histrionics.When the food eventually arrived, half of it was missing and what remained was barely edible. We had to buy some Chips on the way home to fill the gap.If you have the chance to go anywhere else, take that chance. This Goose is f... cooked.

Visited the Goose on several occasions during our recent visit to Ramsgate. The staff were brilliant, very helpful and very friendly.The food was very good, super choice and quality, excellent value for money. Different 'Specials' available each night. Breakfast was just the same. We watched the Lions whilst enjoying a really hearty cooked meal. A wide range of real ales available at very very competitive prices. Very clean and well maintained.The Goose is easy to miss, because of its location and the fact that it is a large, fairly non descriptive building. Don't be put off, it really does have it all.

Iv never had a bad meal in this lovely pub.The service is excellant and friendly.Excellant value for money and families made to feel welcome.Great location to Ramsgate Harbour and shops.Good place to watch sports too.

Went here about 1900 hours on 20/6/17. A bit like a Wetherspoons pub. Good surroundings, not too busy, helpfull, polite and friendly staff. More over, good food.Went in - found a table - sat down - selected food and drinks - went to the bar and ordered - a few minutes later, food arrived at the table. Well presented with a smile.What more could you want.

Good choice on the menu, ordered at the Bar and food arrived in good time.My wife only wanted a snack so had the wraps, I wanted a main meal and so had the Pasta dish 'CHICKEN PASTA ALFREDO' which came with a salad and Garlic bread.Food excellent and good beer at very reasonable prices. Would happily use again.

If you like Wetherspoons, you'll like the Goose. I thought it actually was a Spoons until I saw the menu. Four real ales on, although all fairly golden. Good value, although a little more expensive than Spoons. Service was good.

The Goose is a family friendly pub , The food was very good and not over priced . The drinks are good value .The staff are very nice and when I asked to speak to the manager he ( no prolems or complaints) was with me with in 2 minutes . The Manager has only been there for aout a year and he has done wonders to the Goose . A place I will go to again . Well done to all the staff who worked on Bank Holiday Monday.

A typical english pub/restaurant. nice food, lots of choices from the menu. good drinks. Plenty of TV screens to watch the sports channel.

The food was typical British pub food ... it lacked any quality thus is certainly reflected in the pricing, which is extremely good value.The service was careless just covering the the bare minimum of my expectations. They have a nice range of real ales I can certainly recommend the Broadside.Overall I would try to avoid eating hear if I could. Drinking here is fine.

Closest Ramsgate has today to a Wetherspoons. It was a Sunday night and totally deserted. Three ales on and they were ok but not great. Good value though!

A lovely pub tucked away , we walked in and it's quite a large pub inside with lots of lovely comfy chairs and tables . A good menu tempted us and my husband and I ordered food . We weren't disapointed ,an excellent mixed grill and succulent ribs and chicken came out to us and both plates were cleared . All the staff were friendly and helpful. Toilets weren't up loads of stairs !! And very clean. Excellent place defiantly will go back .

Myself and friends went for a few beers and watch the Man U. Chelsea match. A good job the beer was better than the football. The place was packed loads of people eating. All looked pretty good to me

I come here every so often but on a bank holiday monday we would have expected it to be more busy.We had the big plate meals at £4.99 and they are big, unfortunately they had run out of fish so I had the double steak pie and it was too much.Cant fault it for a bargain meal

We were going to our usual eating establishment and looked at this menu .We were pleasantly surprised so decided to enter Picked a table (many available) and chose from a varied menu .I went to the bar ordered and paid .A few minutes later our condiments and cutlery arrived and 15 to 20 minutes two very adequate plates of fish and chips arrived delivered by a very pleasant young waiter .All in all a very good experience which we will repeat whenever we are back in Ramsgate.

We came to the pub for a drink and late lunch. We ordered by the bar. After the food arrived waitress clearly didn't know what she was serving. She was dumping plates on the table and when asked that some items are wrong she rudely said its in the kitchen waiting and brought it in. After that I cut my schnitzel burger in half and tried it I noticed it taste weird. When I checked it middle was under cooked. After my friend returned it to the bar, different lady came back saying all the chicken goujons are coming pre cooked when I corrected her I ordered schnitzel she said said again that their food it's pre cooked anyway and fryer is on 210 degrees and chef said everything was fine. When we said it wasn't and it's raw inside she said no and do I want it back. In the end there was no I'm sorry or anything just rude staff with zero customer service.

The table was nicely decorated with a Mother's Day card signed from the staff, a small box of chocolates and a small flowering plant. It was a nice touch. There were five of us. Three of us had roast dinners, 2 turkey and 1 chicken. The turkey was full of flavour, I really enjoyed it. Mum in law had steak and chips, she said it was the best steak she had ever had. Father in law had gammon, egg and chips which he said was nice. The only thing I didn't like much was the roast potatoes as they were cooked from frozen but this is a minor detail. We all had desserts, 2 lemon meringues with ice cream which were nice, 2 toffee apple crumbles with custard and 1 chocolate explosion which was delicious. All in all the meal was really nice and the staff were attentive and friendly. We had a very nice time. Would recommend The Goose for a nice meal.

Good basic food in the daytime. Cheap beer run along the lines of many other chain pubs and restaurants

Visited for a few drinks does get rather busy. Had breakfast here rather good value probley why rather a lot of people whent their for breakfast. Main meals looked nice to but only had breakfast

Food came burnt then once i complained came undercooked which made us all sure it was microwaved,so my husband sat eating alone while I had a drink,so we just asked for money back which we got off the understanding staff

Popped in for lunch thinking that a chain would deliver consistently good food. There was a good range of real ales, and the two that we chose were nice, and well kept. The food however was disappointing. The nachos and steak pie were both below average, the kids sausage and chips was average. Service was fine, and the environment was reasonably quiet.

Me and my family, total of six went to the goose for a lite bite meal, four of the meals were served luke warm, and one lasagna microwaved to death, I informed the waiter who said the manager would come over to us, well we waited for 15mins and nothing! I asked again and he finally came over I explained the situation to him and he replied if you want fresh food go els ware!!! I replied by saying (ANY) food served in a restaurant should at least be warm enough to eat, he said if you don't like it don't bother, well I was gob smacked cold food followed by an insult from the manager!!!

Great value breakfast to be had here. Prompt and friendly service. I've also spent an afternoon here watching the football on tv, plenty of TVs and a giant screen. They have a great selection of beers on tap and bottled beers at fairly good prices.

So we came in on Mexican night. I had a chicken burrito and my lady had chilli con carne. We both had a glass of white and the bill came to just under £12. My burrito was nice and we both felt very pleased that we got a proper sit down meal in an atmospheric pub with the football for less than what we would have paid for if we went to KFC!! Staff were friendly too so highly recommend.8/10

The Goose is NOT a British pub in the strict sense of the word, but a British pub you might find in say, Benidorm. Huge TV set's showing sports all day - not my scene at all. The staff were quite inexperienced an had no idea of table etiquette. The bar staff didn't know how to pour a pint properly either. That said, it was clean and tidy and the staff were pleasant. The food was typically average for that of a chain

Thoroughly enjoyable meal. Fish, chips and peas with a drink great value and will certainly go back to try other things on the menu.

They burnt my burger. Onion rings were good. Dessert was awesome. Staff were friendly and attentive.

This pub, close to the seafront, offers good deals on special nights, e.g. Big Plate Night. The food was well cooked and portion size was good as we thought the portions might be small on such good deals. Well worth trying.

We had a wonderful English Breakfasts (both traditional and vegetarian) at The Goose this weekend, so much so we went back for lunch - this was our mistake...Whilst the breakfasts were of great quality and exactly what we expected, the lunches were a little drab - burgers and other similar "pub grub" which just didn't quite hit the mark - difficult to put my finger on why, as the service at both servings was exemplary.We'll be back, but only in the early mornings...

We had a meal at the Goose, The pub is lovely but not our choice really as big TVs playing but that's personal choice. The food was good enough but have had better but was a good price. Also bar Sevice was rather slow

This is nice pub, staff very welcoming. They have a varied menu and offers good value for money. The food was cooked beautifully, portions sizes were massive.

The goose is a lovely place to have lunch and a good drink. It has a family atmosphere and the staff are well mannered and polite. I had a lovely lasagne for my lunch only fault being that it was slightly peppery. I throughly enjoyed my lunch at the goose and would like to emphasise on the staff member behind the bar that was most welcoming.

Bar is sasky understaffed and are a little slow to get to you, but then that is where you order both food and drink. Prices are very reasonable and food gets out to you quickly. Atmosphere is what you would expect, with sport on most of the televisions, it's perhaps not a family place as you can often here the odd curse. In all for the price and location it's a very good pub.
