The Best roast dinner in a long time. We were blown away by how good it was including the Yorkshire Pudding. Amazing food and helpful friendly staff.

Visited the Goods Yard this evening to celebrate my birthday. I was very much looking forward to trying the rack of ribs. The waitress took the order but soon returned with bad news, saying the ribs were no longer available. This meant that 25% of the “From the Grill” items were unavailable! I could not understand why she did not know this when she took my order! The restaurant was not very busy so why did they run out? Surely with a potentially busy weekend coming up, the chef should ensure such a popular item as rack of ribs was fully in stock? Very disappointed. It was also surprising that, when presented with the bill, there was no allowance made for our disappointment. I had to explain once again how much I had been looking forward to the rack of ribs and it was only then I was offered a credit for one glass of wine! Not impressed.

I'll start by saying that the Goods Yard is usually a really good place to eat. However, on this occasion they were totally understaffed and it took forever to get our food. The two members of staff on duty were polite and professional, doing their best under such pressure as the pub was busy. We all chose roast dinner from their Sunday menu. The starter of homemade Scotch Egg was exquisitely delicious and highly recommended. The main course came and could have had more vegetables, but otherwise okay. The pudding of peach sundae was disappointing. There was no peach, instead raspberries that were still frozen - very strange and this was pointed out at the time.

Returned for another Sunday roast, a bit later in the day this time on Fathers Day. Am sure cheaper alternatives exist but for us ease of walking to and from without taxi’s is a plus. Not to mention the food quality which is normally good but the roasts are particularly flavoursome we think, which is why we return. Portion sizes are just about ok ‘for me’, had the beef, but added a side of cauli-cheese as I quite like it! Am fussy with puddings, but luckily didn’t have to look past the chocolate fondant which was absolutely banging, theres enough to share, but dont! Kids roast was a good size. Service was good, not intrusive and not waiting. Thanks Esme for another enjoyable visit.

Our second time at The Goods Yard and we'll absolutely be returning regularly. The Goatee pizza is incredible and the kids portions are huge - such good value! Gorgeous decor from the beautiful light fittings all the way down to the material napkins. We were welcomed by the manager who was so down to earth and friendly. - very attentive to the kids, providing colouring, children's cutlery and water with straws. Then served by another two waitresses who were again really friendly and attentive. My parents said the steak and ale pie was the best pie they'd ever had. Couldn't quite fit in the brownies this time but still thinking about them from our last visit!

Disappointing. Our server repeatedly referred to us as “Guys” which is totally unacceptable. It’s an Americanism which unfortunately is taking over at a lot of restaurant chains. I am not American, and I certainly am not a male. It is insulting. I chose the Caesar salad with extra chicken, which stated had anchovies, yes there was one, and one half of a cherry tomato. the plate was full of lettuce leaves, so, value for money, not. I was a regular of the Good Yard prior to this new ownership, and this was my first visit since it’s re-opening, would I recommend eating there, I think not.

We were so excited to go back here when it reopened and what a shame they have decided to give it a weird vibe with super loud background music. The acoustics are not great in there as it is, without needing to add such loud music into the mix. As a result everyone has to shout to be heard, making it even louder. Some of the female staff are also very miserable. What a pity as Broadstone really needed another drinking venue.

On approaching the bar we met a young man who was actually quite miserable. No smile and no real social skills. We ordered our food (3 roast beef dinners) and drinks and sat down at a table. The said young lad brought our drinks over promptly with a blunt “here you go” When the meals came out we were pleasantly surprised by the amount, it’s presentation and how hot it was. The young girl who brought them over was bright and cheery and asked us if we would like any sauces. These were brought over promptly. The roast beef dinners Were priced at £14.99 and if the beef wasn’t chewy I wouldn’t of minded paying it. It also doesn’t help using ordinary knives that weren’t particularly sharp. I’ve given 3 stars with two deducted purely on the young man at the bar and the meat. Overall it wasn’t too bad

Wary of re-entering the real world of hospitality after some months, I need not have worried as the standards and hygiene arrangements here are exemplary. But I want to give special mention to the Fish and Chips here. All fish, sufficient batter as opposed to the battered air and fish some establishments provide. The menu option comes with chunky chips, but I asked for and was willingly served with skinny chips instead. "Mushy" peas weren't the usual liquid-y mess you get at some places. These were peas blended but still thick with small pieces of peas. Yum! I would thorough recommend The Good Yard especially as until end September they have extended the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme offering up to £10 off per person. Free parking to guests, just make sure you tell the staff your Reg No.

I took my friend to the Goods Yard at Broadstone for a birthday treat. I the past the food was of a very high standard! We were seated in the Restaurant & in the time we were there no one else came in.The waiter asked for a card before ordering which was fine, but took the card away to the bar out of our site & took a few minutes as decided to talk to a colleague! I informed him that the card should not be taken out if are view. he replied it’s completely safe!!! So unprofessional!! We ordered Chicken Breast, mushrooms, tomato, triple cooked chips & a peppercorn sauce £15.85. When the meal arrived the chicken breast was very small with a bone maybe to make it look a larger portion.☹️ The sauce was like a runny gravy & chip greasy, we informed them that this is not a sauce they offered the arrange a replacement which we agreed. when the sauce arrived it was no different. We told the waiter that this meal is not enjoyable & very disappointing. The deputy manager said the chef apologised & offered us free drinks & dessert but we refused. We also informed that the staff were laughing At us as we could see them laughing & when we looked over at them they hid behind a post in the bar!! She informed us that her staff would not do that very unprofessional! We asked for our bill as wanted to leave, she went to speak to her manager and informed us we only have to pay for the drinks, which was the right thing. But it ruined a lovely birthday celebration. Went round the corner & the new wine bar was heaving Says it all really.

We stayed for three nights at the excellent Pine Ridge Bed and Breakfast and this pub is literally a 5 minute walk away. Fashioned as an old railway inn, the staff were hard working, friendly, attentive and efficient. The food came quickly and in large portion sizes. I would have liked a dessert but din't have room. Covid 19 arrangements were excellent with well spaced tables, open windows, lots of hand sanitizer, individually wrapped cutlery and 'arms length' service. I had the cod and chips (£15.25) and my wife had the Chicken and Bacon salad (£14.95) . My 250 ml Merlot cost £7.25 and my wife's 175 ml Chardonnay came to £5.40. The food tasted excellent. Possibly the place is a bit more expensive than your average pub - but it was still good value. This pub is great; we arrived in Broadstone on bank holiday Friday and went straight out to eat. We had a warm welcome and were shown to our table (which they'd held for us after a phone call as we were delayed on our journey) and it just got better and better! The young man and lady serving us were so charming, warm and friendly and we had gorgeous food. The cod goujons starter was so good, we booked to return on Sunday night for the fish and chips. The 2nd visit didn't disappoint - a lovely warm welcome again and the same young man serving in the restaurant - I wish I'd taken his name, he was so personable and helpful but hopefully the management will know who I mean! This is not a quiet, piano music gastro pub, but a lively and buzzing freehouse with great food. It was pretty busy both times we went, but service was good and we like a place with atmosphere - nothing worse in my opinion than being the only people in a place! The fact that it's always full must mean that plenty of people share our positive opinion of the place. Thanks to all here for a lovely dining experience.

We enjoyed a drink in the bar before our meal. Atmosphere was good, such a good mixture of ages. Food in the restaurant was great, we were spoilt for choice and all 4 of us were completely happy with our visit. We will definately visit again.

This was our first visit & we were not disappointed. Lovely pub, friendly staff, real ale and excellent food. I had Hoi Sin Duck parcels on a bed of crispy fried cabbage, my wife went for the Chilli Wings, no faulting these starters apart from the fact that the cabbage was definitely not crispy & very oily, but as I’m not a fan of crispy greens be they cabbage or seaweed it didn’t detract from what we had. Main courses consisted of a steak & kidney pie with mash, roast carrots & parsnips with a little pot of gravy whilst my wife had lamb rump with dauphinois potato’s, roast carrots, cabbage & puréed swede (we think) with a red wine jus, I had to persuade my wife that at just short of £20 it was not over priced & was I right? Oh yes I was definitely right, her dinner was cooked perfectly & the lamb melted in the mouth, I know because there was so much I had to finish hers as the portion size was a good size & if we had not had starters maybe she would have finished it herself. There is a warning that there is a 25 minute wait for the steak & kidney pie but it was worth the wait, it looks like a well done pork pie when presented, the pastry was crisp as is a pork pie so I assume it was maybe water crust pastry. On cutting open the crispy pie it was full to the top of delicious & tender steak & kidney, no air pockets, the pastry even smothered in the gravy stayed crisp. Drinks I had a Doombar & my wife a large house white wine spritzer. Final cost £56 & worth every penny, I can’t recommend the place highly enough and if you have a dog then this is the place for you as they are very welcome.

Just visiting parents so checked trip advisor and the reviews were good so we gave it a try. Great different food, friendly helpful staff, lovely atmosphere with wood fires. The only note would be the food took a long time but we were not in a hurry. We will be back.

The Goods Yard has been my local for 10 years + now, the bar is always lively and friendly, great staff and a good drink selection. The restaurant too is excellent. My wife and I have had our Christmas lunch here a few times, always excellent, however in 2017 we felt the price was getting a little bit beyond our budget. We did mention this to the management team. Obviously the management took this on board, in 2018, there was a large reduction in cost and the quality was up to its usual high standards. The bar and restaurant were absolutely buzzing, the staff were awesome and we had a great Christmas day. Good to know that feedback is listened to, well done to everyone.

We visited the goods yard for Xmas eve lunch with 6 friends. We all had a starter which was mediocre both my partner and l had mushrooms not much taste. We had a chicken and bacon salad for our main which was tasty. Very few people eating from last year so seem to think the other eateries have effected the goods yard. They will need to keep standards up.

First visit we had already opted for the Christmas meal before hand which turned out to be very good value for money. I tried some of the halloumi very tasty(didn't have my own starter). My main meal was the sea bass in a white sauce very tasty would of liked more vegetables and less potato. We had all opted for the trio of puddings which was lovely I could of easily had another! Would return.

My first visit to this eatery & it won't be my last. A group of us had pre-ordered the Christmas menu. The courses were served at good intervals, allowing everyone to finish their food comfortably. Presentation of all courses was lovely & the main course was delivered on very hot plates - always a plus! The table & dining area were very tastefully decorated. Overall, a great dining experience with very tasty food. Thank you to all the staff.

We were staying in Broadstone and had booked a table at The Goods Yard. Even booking online had been a positive experience, as we received a swift response: always a good sign.

I was pleasantly surprised to find tapas on the menu. We chose gnocchi, garlic mushrooms and olives, oil and basalmic and breads. Very nicely presented and delicious. It was lovely to sit on the sofas by the log fire. The service was friendly and efficient.

Stopped by here on an off chance as was passing through. The staff are quite simply the best we’ve come across in a long time. Nothing was too much for them and all interactions with were genuinely sincere, friendly and cheerful.

I have not been here for many years, and it was interesting to see that part of the place has been turned into a restaurant. The menu is quite limited, but this means that the food is good. We had the tapas to share which was enough when you are drinking and talking. I would visit here again, but would try to avoid the football being on the TV as the noise from the bar was quite deafening at times.

Good friendly service. Fab food (great Whitebait), all in a very atmospheric bar displaying lots of nautical ships and items related to Lord Nelson and the Victory. A great place to bring people from overseas who don’t get to experience this sort of unique experience right on Poole quay. Fabulous.
