Fabulous little place, food and drinks in a 'market place' setting. Nice people on all the stalls, Paul on the wine stall deserves particular praise for his knowledge and explanation of the wines we were keen to explore.

Lovely place to dine or shop from local businesses - all in close proximity to the train station. We seemed to have visited on a particularly busy day, as they only had one table available for walk-ins (us). The kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed as our food took forever to arrive, and we ended up dining there for 2.5 hours. Something to keep in mind if you're on a tight schedule. The food was great! We really enjoyed the confit pork belly, and we thought the mint butter paired really well with the pink fir potatoes. Didn't realise the 'roast chicken' was a salad when we ordered, but it was still pretty good.

This was a wonderful leisurely meal. We shared the child Lamb appetizer and then I had the roast pork and my wife had the haddock. The bread and butter were great too -- the butter was very yellow and treated how butter ought to taste! I was hoping to get dessert but we were both full, and out played were spotless! Great atmosphere with candelabra with lit candles on our table. It looked as though a couple of couples were there for date night! Not cheap, but not expensive either at £90 all in for two people. Much better than some meals that I've had that cost a lot more.

Food was fine but received very poor service from one of the blond female staff. Seemed rude when she served our table, for example, when I asked for three small plates, she just drop off a pile of plates on the table without a word, no introduction of any dishes; asked me if we are done with starters when we were only half way through and left when I didn’t even finish my sentence. She seems to be fine when serving other tables but shown discriminatory attitude towards our table.

We visited Canterbury in early June, and were recommended The Goods Shed for a unique lunch destination. We were shown to our seats by a member of staff, who ascertained that we hadn't pre-booked, which wasn't a problem as there were tables available, and whilst waiting for our server, I noticed a specials board, and stood up to get a closer look. I was then accosted by the manager, and rudely asked if we'd been shown to our seats, or seated ourselves. I replied that we'd been seated by his colleague, and that I was looking at the specials board, he then snapped that they were all on the menu. Fortunately, our server was much more polite than the manager. After our main meals, the same manager, came to the table and without a word, put down dessert menus, and left. I would not recommend this venue based on the service we received from this individual. The food was adequate. The historic and interesting venue was the best part of the visit.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely bits to browse whilst you wait for your food. We were unfortunately sat with some of our party facing the window and the sun was low and glaring in their eyes, not much you can do about this but would’ve been good to be sat at the empty table next to us that didn’t have this problem. Service was lovely. Had the chicken for two which was very tasty, although think could’ve done with some vegetables with it to freshen up the meal and make it feel less heavy.

Having eaten here once before, we elected to have lunch today. We were told there was not a table inside available, although many were enpty and with just an hour and a quarter to go before closure we were directed to the outside area. We did pop there and sat down but it was too chilly and also it looked like rain. So we left very disappointed at the uppityness of our treatment as there was obviously going to be a table available inside. Their loss on a sizeable bill, so off to the Fordwich Arms!

Nestled amidst the historic charm of Canterbury, The Goods Shed isn't just an indoor food market; it's a captivating experience for all senses. Housed within a converted Victorian railway shed, the very essence of the building whispers tales of a bygone era. But step inside, and you're greeted with a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates fresh, seasonal produce. The Goods Shed's charm begins even before you dig into the food. The soaring arched windows bathe the space in natural light, showcasing the exposed brickwork and industrial-chic decor. Fresh flowers grace the sanded-down wooden tables, adding a touch of whimsical romance. Whether you choose a cozy corner or a table overlooking the bustling market area, the ambiance is undeniably inviting. The Goods Shed's connection to fresh, local produce is evident from the start. The space within houses a restaurant and for those seeking a more casual experience, the adjoining market area offers a variety of food stalls and artisan producers, perfect for grabbing a bite or browsing for gourmet goodies. The Goods Shed is a must-visit for anyone seeking a local food experience that goes beyond just the food. It's a celebration of fresh produce, culinary innovation, and the charm of a bygone era. Whether you're a local resident or a visitor exploring Canterbury, The Goods Shed promises a memorable experience that will leave you feeling satisfied food wise in every way!

We went to this restaurant on a day trip to Canterbury. I had no idea where to go in town, but I was recommended the Goods Shed by an internet guide (I think it was TimeOut, but not 100% sure). I’m usually really suspicious about these recommendations, but decided to book it anyway. The thing is I had one of the best meals I’ve ever had in England. My partner and I were simply mesmerised. We weren’t that hungry, so we decided to share two starters and one main dish. The starters were delicious (pork terrine and kedgeree - kedgeree was better in my opinion, but my partner thought it was the pork terrine) and had a distinctive taste. The spices were simple, but tasteful. It felt homely, but also sophisticated at the same time. The highlight was the main dish we shared, we got the lamb leg. It was juicy, tender and I felt it was just melting in my mouth. The side was great too, it had an onion punch that increased the flavour of the vegetables. Finally, we decided to get a dessert as well. The hot chocolate pudding was intense in flavour, it had a bold taste of proper chocolate. Although it wasn’t too sweet, it’s best if shared with someone else. Finally, the service was great, I have no complaints. But the experience was enhanced by the atmosphere. Many restaurants these days have this tendency to put costumers too close to each other in cramped and overcrowded restaurants. At Goods Shed, we got a big table for two and we could have enough privacy not to hear other costumers conversations. The candle-lit environment was also super cosy and romantic. The restaurant is located inside a small market with fresh produce and good quality groceries. If I had more time, I would have definitely browsed more. Great experience!

I took my son here to use the indoor food market rather than the restaurant type facilites. All the stall holders were friendly and helpful and the goods my son purchased all looked of good quality. Unfortunately probably due to the timing of our visit (3pm on a Sunday)there was not a huge variety of produce available and a lot of people were packing up so the atmosphere wasn’t amazing but I would be interested to compare this visit to one on a different day and time! I thought some of the prices were a bit high but that was comparing to supermarkets prices so probable an unfair comparison. Nice to have everything under one roof.

We love this place so much! We’re lucky to have live not too far from here so this is a real staple for a morning treat. We always pop to Gill’s for a coffee and grab a pastry from the bakery in the corner. Seriously their sausage rolls and CROISSANTS are next level. Personally we opt for the outdoor seats, partly so we can fuss over the dogs (this place is very dog friendly) and it can get very busy here especially on weekends so if you want a calmer sit down and chill then that’s for you. There’s always a real community and hustle feel to this place, full of friendly, passionate, hard working people.

The Goods Shed is two things: 1. the main overall building which houses multiple local businesses, such as wine, delicatessen, beer, veg, butcher, fishmonger, patisserie-bakery, grocer, general goods, cafe, restaurant. Review: these are all amazing, complimentary to each other, and each is distinctively good at what they do 2. The Goods Shed restaurant itself, which many years ago created it's reputation for local produce done in a fine dining style. It's been through a few chefs recently so I can't attest to the food there currently.

Now there's nowhere comfortable to sit. The high stools at the Wild Goose aren't very comfortable, and the table by Murrays is too crowded. On a fine day in the summer, the outside seats are okay. We could see a vacant table by the window and requested that reminding them of our call but the bartender couldn’t have been more rude and insulting .

Went in for take away fish cake, battered sausage and large chips. Fair to say the chips were VERY large. Between two of us couldn’t finish them. Asked for salt and vinegar … felt like the salt shaker

We were visiting Tankerton and popped in to see if there was space for 3 on a busy sunny Sunday. We were given several options. The service was very attentive and we had a fantastic meal.
