Excellent takeaway at great prices with friendly service - highly recommend. Not sure why all the negative reviews as it really was great!

Had 2 take aways while we were on holiday. Both times excellent. Delivered on time. I had chicken chow mein in sauce both times. Best I have tasted.

Worst Chinese take-a-way I have tasted. Giant size pork balls enough for 2 people but inedible. I ate 2, dogs ate 1 rest going in the bin

Munchy box , everything cooked together , overcooked, oversalted to un edible amount , everything tasted the same . Waste of 21£

I have read poor reviews, but I have to disagree with all of them. The food was excellent! Very occasionally, the delivery service can be a bit slow; but we're close so not an issue. 4.5/5

We were recommended this Chinese from a friend. Absolutely horrific customer service! We waited 2 hours for home delivery of 2 dishes, chips and noodles. They didn’t even appologise or give any gestures of good will for the insane wait time. Will not be back.

This place just never answers their phone, instead it goes to voicemail. Are they even aware? It’s so frustrating. Even if they said we are taking orders in 20 minutes time you’d know what’s what. I end up driving down there and having to wait for food to be cooked. Pointless

As usual good quality of food but very much let down tonight by there delivery service! Rang at 5.20pm placed order.Told an hour and 10 mins or may be sooner for delivery.However it was gone 7pm before food arrived.I rang the shop to chase my order,only to be told their driver had gone missing!? A phonecall to any customers waiting to apologise would of helped to reassure us.However the counter staff were not very helpful let alone apologetic. Shame,nice food but let down by delivery service and lack of customer care. Also only accepting cash is another questionable debate!?

Fantastic food, could not fault at all. The last time I had Chinese food this good was in London. Very good value as well.

We were staying in Fowey and my sister-in-law had joined us for a few days. Having all had a busy day we were tired and didn't fancy eating out, so phoned for a take-away. It took just over an hour to arrive, which we were told about and was fine. The person taking the order was cheerful and the driver was really lovely. The food was delicious and the portions are huge! We very much enjoyed it and we've never had a bad meal from here. The only thing I will say is that you have to pay cash when it's delivered. Fortunately my sister-in-law was treating us and had some cash available, but we very rarely carry much cash these days, as I'm sure is the same for a lot of people, so had it been just myself and my husband, we would have had to have gone to collect it so we could pay by card. It would be good if there was an on-line ordering system or they could take card payments over the phone.

This place used to be the best takeaway in the area, since they have only been accepting cash for delivery we decided to go into the shop to find they only take cash now too. With the lack of ATMs in the par area outside of business hours this can be troublesome. They must be losing a lot of custom because of this. We’ve been golden wok regulars for 12yrs and now order elsewhere because of this

We had a takeaway on the first night of our holiday in Fowey. We ordered by telephone and were advised that delivery would be about an hour as they were very busy (Friday evening). The food was delivered as advised an hour later which was great. All the food was delicious and we enjoyed it so much, we ordered another takeaway a week later! This time they were even busier and told us that delivery would be about two hours. Two hours later the food arrived and again was excellent. Highly recommended.

Called and ordered and was told to collect 30 minutes later. They did not want payment over the phone. Got there on time to be told we need to wait 10 minutes and when I questioned it was told the food is cooked fresh and they have had some no shows. I would have gladly paid over the phone or gone there to order if they just said so. No need to be rude or snappy! The food was not horrible but I always order chicken chow mein and I have never had one that is sweet with mushrooms and chunky carrots and peas. So not your standard Chinese. Thanks but I will not be back or recommending this take away.

Normaly like this place but when i ask for sweet and sour chicken cantonees style i expect chicken in batter with pinapple with sweet and sour source as i have ordered hundreds of time from countless restaurants in the UK not something entirely different and then am told i have ordered the wrong dish and no apology

You will not find another Chinese in the area like it ,the food is amazing and so are the staff It gets really busy so you have to ring ring ring It sometimes has a long wait but honestly it doesn't matter the food is delicious Prawn and ginger fab and the prawns are so big and lots of them So worth trying ,you will not be disappointed

Went to Golden Wok off recommendation and the 5* reviews. The food wasn't great at all, the ribs where over cooked, the chicken rubbery and the rice wasn't cooked properly and tasted as though it had been reheated. All went in the bin and was a waste of £30 I would not recommend

The food as always was first class but waiting over 2 hours for a delivery that you were told would be 1hr 10 mins is unacceptable. This is the second time we have had this issue. Suggest you collect on person.

Looking forward to a Chinese meal we thought being on holiday we would try the nearest to us as it was walking disance for a Take Away. On entering the feeling is of a grubby waiting room. The man behind the counter was pleasant and chatty. Food was ready in 5 minutes. Back within 5 minutes we tucked into the Satay skewered chicken. The sauce was pleasant but the chicken was hard on the outside and very dry on the inside making it difficult to get through. Onto the Duck and mushrooms. The duck was very fatty and chewy and the sauce was like glue and not very pleasant. On to the Beef and Tomatoes. The Beef texture was OK but had no taste the vegtables and Tomatoes were ok. But again the sauce was like glue and not very pleasant. On a better note the fried rice was OK, it was very brown which is unusual but nice texture and flavour. Unfortunately we binned more than we ate. We are regular eaters of Takeaway Chinese Food and this was definitely in the worst 30% I have eaten. Would not use again. Perhaps we were unlucky.

We had food delivered twice from this takeaway and both times were great. The food was delivered pretty close to the times stated, the communication was friendly and helpful. The menu had some unusual items on it some of which we tried and really liked....

We had possibly the worst takeaway last night from the golden wok! Spring rolls soggy and flat, every dish just a jelly wobble of cornflour slops. Battered chicken balls were tasteless and slightly sweet with sauce terrible. If this is Chinese cooking then would surmise...

We use Golden Wok every week for a home delivery. Always tasty, hot, well prepared food. Ok, it might take up to a couple of hours to get it if you order on a busy friday night at tea-time, but it's always worth the wait!...

We popped in for a drink with our dogs. The jar of dog treats on the bar and the bowl of water at the door, made our dogs very welcome. We sat out in the pub garden which is a little gem. We hadn’t booked so sadly couldn’t eat but it looked yummy!

We live in a village nearby and choose this takeaway whenever we have a special occasion or need cheering up! We have never been disappointed - menu is huge, all cooked to perfection, served by friendly staff. Vegetable chow mein is another favourite, so have to mention it - best I've ever had!

Sorry to say that the meal we had tonight was the worst takeaway we have ever had! if you like a basic curry sauce with some uncooked mushrooms thrown over the top, you will be happy. Equally if you like deep brown soy sauce flavoured fried rice you will be happy, or inedible chicken and cashews.

I ordered a takeaway for delivery for Mothers Day. Spent 60 quid. 3 hrs later and still not here. The bloke on the counter keeps lying and saying "yeah it'll be there in ten minutes". Id never use this place ever again.

Been using the golden wok for many years, whilst we are here on holiday! It’s always been really good, again had three delivery’s so far this holiday, food piping hot and delicious.

£10 minimum charge for debit cards - not fair on single diners - and staff very argumentative and unhelpful when I queried this. Have been regular customer for 9 years - no more though.

I rang up to complain about the quality of the food and the lady hung up on me. I rang back and she said she’d come collect the food then I waited 20 minutes I then rang back again and she said she wouldnt come get it or refund my money. Absolutely disgusting way to treat your customers no respect what so ever. WOULDNT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY!

Had a Takeaway from here several times over the last few years, always consistently good with excellent portion sizes. Worth an order.

Disappointed with the Chinese. We ordered a Singapore noodles - which was a spicy chow mien .... with egg noodles NOT rice noodles. We also ordered a chicken chow mien which was in a horrendous sauce which was thick with cornflower- YUK. We ordered via phone 40mins after calling to be told that our order hasn’t been placed because “people arrive late” - what is the point in calling ahead.... so after a wait of 1.10hrs of waiting I wasn’t very impressed. Such a shame :(

2 hungry people driving through St Austell on route to holiday cottage read the reviews for The Golden Wok( Not So Golden Wok as it turns out) and purchase £17 worth of bin fodder. We love Chinese food and this was just awful. I doubt it was cooked fresh as on opening the plastic containers the smell was sour and I’ve never seen such lurid food colouring in all my life. Shocking

I always used to use this Chinese. Really yummy, tasted and smelt fresh, nice staff on the counter. I don't often eat takeaway food so this was a rare treat for me. The food is normally great. But my last couple of visits, it hasn't been. Greasy chicken balls, batter overcooked. The chips were definitely not fresh at all and tasted not only old - but as though they had been refried a couple of times. Ended up throwing it away feeling ill.

This place has relatively recently reopened and is better than ever. I would say the portion sizes are smaller than some other places but the quality of food is very good. Have only used for takeaway so can't comment on the restaurant.

Try use this takeaway. Ok the food was good and chill sance yummy .lovely staff would come back next time.

Menu is hit and miss but once you figure out what you like then you're winning. I go to this take away alone for the Crispy Chilli Chicken which is on the starter menu but large enough as a main with boiled rice (honestly, same portion size as mains). Never had a bad dish but the sweet and sour sauce could be adapted, it almost glows and is a bit too zingy.

Don't eat here you will get food poison... my son and i were ill with in 30 mins of eating .. seafood . The worst Chinese I've ever had ..... very expensive way to through the whole lot up .... I've rung them and HOW rude ...

Was unsure whether to visit or not due to mixed reviews but looking at the times of the i would imagine these were from the old management/company. We visited here on 23rd March 2018 with our 2 children aged 3 and 7.

We read the reviews and thought we had struck gold, especially after our long old drive from London. However, the food was horrendous, very poor quality and stodgy which left me and my partner with stomach cramps throughout the night. Very disappointing!! ☹️

This take away does what it says on the tin. Tasty food and swift service. No bells and whistles, but then that is not what you go to a takeaway Chinese for. I really enjoyed the numerous take aways I've had on my holiday to Par Sands Holiday Park and would certainly recommend as an alternative to the onsite pizza and pasta restaurant.

Had a take away here staying in Cornwall. Amazing food, great price. Really enjoyed it. The Chicken Curry and Chow neon were particularly nice.

Delivery was on time just less than the one hour stated, we ordered Thai chicken Green Curry but ended up with Beef, Beef Rendang was the worst ive had and can do a better Nasi goreing myself wont use them again the meals just all tasted the same it was just ok.

We recently went on holiday to par after a long 6 hour journey we decided to have a take away from The Golden Wok, I gave them a call as a like a satay dish, I especially asked them if this was sweet, and I know this can vary the person who I spoke to told me it was savory and a bit hot, I did not mind this as it seemed just what I could enjoy on our first night on holiday. The order was phoned in for myself and my husband. On getting back to the caravan the meals were dished up, I have never seen a satay like this before and don't think I ever will again, it was chicken and coloured the most beautiful pink you have ever seen, ideal if you wanted to decorate, not good if you wanted to eat it. Despite being told it was not sweet after having barley half I could not eat it, this ended up being thrown away, my husband was ok with his, however I would not use this take away again if we are ever in the area

Although they seemed very busy our order was processed very quickly. We had good sized portions of some lovely food. There was plenty of meat in all the dishes we ordered. All this at reasonable prices too!

Whilst on holiday at Par Sands caravan park this takeaway was recommended by the people who owned the caravan we stopped in.The live in St Austell but if they want a chinese this is where the come.Tried it one evening and was not disappointed.Food prepared quickly and they even did my wifes favourite ribs which were not on the menu.Spot on and no complaints.

We all loved this place. Our order was prepared quickly and the food was always tasty. When given the option, our children wanted dinner from here every night of our week long holiday, and we were happy to go along with it! The food was great value, too

We were lured into this takeaway by the delicious scents of garlic and Chinese cooking which were wafting in the air as we passed, whilst we were on holiday at a nearby campsite. We were not disappointed!!! What a find! We ordered a set meal for two for my daughter and I, we were amazed by the quantity and quality of the food. Every meal was really well prepared, with lovely fresh ingredients and a good balance of flavours, even the price was very good....all round 10 out of 10. Thank you!

Had a really delicious meal from here last night. The poor kitchen staff had to cook our order twice after some impatient numpty claimed ours mistaking it for their own. Not the fault of the restaurant though and they rectified the issue swiftly, providing us with some seriously delicious food, well worth the extra wait. Staff were polite and friendly. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely Chinese! Good sized portions and really generous with the ingredients. There was easily a duck breast work of meat in my portion of rice.Reasonable prices and a friendly service! Will be ordering again!

This is always a very reliable Chinese with speedy service and a pleasant waiting area. They also deliver but that can involve a wait.

Called into The GoldenWok for our takeaway and was extremely delighted by the helpful receptionist who placed our order, the take away was very clean and busy and we waited a short while for our food and believe me it was well worth waiting for. We ordered beef chow main, the portion was generous, hot, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty, one of the best I have ever tasted, definitely recommend this take away.

The food here was really good, but we opted for it to be delivered and it took over 90 minutes. It was only being delivered round the corner in Par! Granted it was a Saturday evening and it was a meal for 6, but they told us it would be with us in an hour. We called to find out where it had got to (hungry children waiting) and they didn't seem particularly bothered. It eventually turned up and was delicious, but I would have liked to see a small discount or at least a free bag of prawn crackers for the delay.

Absolutely poor meal two curry's and chicken balls delivery from par up the hill to Tywardreath food was stone cold and when phoning to complain got told that's what u get with a delivery ! Don't go there is wouldn't even feed it to my dog

We got a takeaway from here when on holiday - it was cooked quickly and well. Everything seemed fine, my wife felt some of the dishes were a little too peppery, but I didn't mind
