The Golden Ocean Restaurant in South Somerset

Nice enough - husband really liked, I was less enamoured. Can't complain about portion size, if anything far too generous. Shop could do with looking a bit nicer (do you want to eat food from somewhere which, in the public areas, has gaffer tape on the benches and posters/cards for events that happened months ago?) I'd visit again, but only if I was hungry/it was raining heavily and didn't fancy walking a bit further from home.

Special fried rice……far from special! Boiled rice, topped with pork and chicken. No prawns, no peas, no sauce! Very disappointed

My first time ordering from here as I normally just stick to my usual place, however I will be returning for a treat I have to save a little bit more for as it's a bit more expensive than my usual but worth it for the taste. The food came in nice enclosed reasonable sized containers and was lovely and fresh and delicious.

Had a takeaway a few weeks before and it was lovely, more expensive than others but worth it. However decided to treat the family spending £40 who were jubious from a previous bad experience they'd had there Convinced them, then was embarrassed All the tubs were half the size with no juice/liquid, very little ingredients in them Chips were over cooked, almost burnt Crispy beef was like a pork scratching Luckily was meant to feed 5 adults and ended up having barely enough for 4 because of portion sizes Shame as I'd had such a good one before but £40 for the little amount with poor quality was a shame. Hope it was a one off but won't risk it again

Keep trying and keep being left disappointed. Dishes are served differently each time, dishes missing from order, charged wrong. Every time there is something. Given it enough chances. Not going back

Food is not too bad, but nearly every time we have ordered lately there is bits missing or wrong dishes. Make sure you check your order before leaving!

This was the best Chinese takeaway I've ever had. My friends and I all agreed it was delicious. Definately recommend.

traveling from merriott is no problem to get a really great Chinese meal , ive tried many others in the area but this one i found to be the best .

The best chinese in ilminster. My family orders it every week and we loved it! The food quality was great and always delicious. The counter staff was very polite and lovely. Keep up the good work !

My partner is fussy and doesn't like onion in his chow mein. They had no issue in making sure his was onion free. Really enjoyed my mushroom in black bean sauce, one of the best I've had. Good choice in the menu, delicious food.

Always visit the Golden Ocean when visiting family, miss a good Chinese as leaving in France. Very friendly service & what ever we order is always freshly cooked & piping hot. In my opinion the best in the area.

After a few rubbish meals from here Last night it was lovely, best it's been in a long time, let's hope they can keep it up

We have always used this Chinese for many years but not anymore, we had a meal with friends from here on Saturday evening and we were very disappointed we have heard that it has new owners and you can tell the food was not very good at all, one of the group couldn’t eat some of their food it was very slimy. I ordered cheesy spring rolls for the vegetarians in the group and they have always been lovely not this time they took one bite and said there’s chicken in this and there was, there’s never been chicken in them before they need to say if it’s changed. Come back Kenny!!!!

Always great food and tasty. Never had a bad meal. very adaptable too. My brother hates mushrooms and they were very good at taking them out and swapping them for something else.

Abbiamo cenato con degli amici,il cibo nella norma niente di eccezionale servizio ottimo.Peccato che non avessero neanche una birra fresca.

Whenever myself & my partner want a Chinese we ALWAYS order from here. Have tried various Chinese takeaways in Somerset but none come close or are consistently as good as ' The new golden ocean' really superb food and highly recommend! :)

He sido cliente durante años y nunca he sido decepcionado por la comida que recibe la salida de la puerta de Ken. He probado algunos de los otros para llevar chino local y ni siquiera se acercan a la relación del nuevo sabor y Golden Mar ofrece.

All .ways have a good. Chinese there And you don't have to wait long .nice and hot and a car park right beside it it's on the old A303 so a nice place to stop.

Never had a bad meal, although on the odd occasion in the past the beef in black bean sauce has been variable. However I am always treated most courteously and never had a complaint in the many years I have been a customer.

Large choice of Chinese food. The staff are very friendly and the service is fast. All the items we chose were delicious. We ordered too much food but enjoyed eating the remainder on the following day! It is now called the New Golden Ocean.

This is a good Chinese in ilminster. Staff are always friendly and food cooked swiftly. The food quality always seems to be high.

We have been using this Chinese Takeaway for some years now and have never been disappointed by the service or the quality of their dishes. Easy to park and pickup.

We have had many meals from here and they are always consistently good. We always have chicken curry, rice, chips, spring roll and crispy chilli beef. It is just so good and well cooked. Very clean and friendly

They were efficient, polite and accurate. The food piping hot and it was a clean venue. A good one I will go again.
