Good fish and chips all ways use them

I waited 45 minutes for the measliest portion of chips I've ever had

Great food and vegetarian choices. Staff friendly and helpful.

Don't go here,unless you are prepared the the longest wait in history. 45 min. To wait for a pea fritter and chips is just not on . And there is no politeness, met with a sharp YES ? Before I've had a chance to look at the menu, is not on .it's a manky grubby little hole.

Usually good but one time, food was not as hot as it could have been. To be fair it was close to closing time.

I went to Vincent fish bar only to find out it was closed and no signs of life it looked like it closed so in this case, I don't recommend your going to it Google maps saying it was open so something is not working properly as regards maps and the information given

Food isn't the best service is slow I wouldn't go there again.

Found this little fish and chip shop.. fresh hot large cods, sausage, chips.. really nice bits of fish, good price too.. really impressed as do burgers, currys, and pizzas too, made to order, so call ahead if you don't want to wait for it.. really really good. Can recommend the cod and chips, and burgers..

Pre ordered food for opening time at 5 and it was superb. Almost 20 portions sold, staff really helpful with condiments having pulled out all the stops for us. Top notch

Ilminster, is a tale of two chip shops, growing up in the 1970s in the newly build housing estate Herne Rise, going to school just up the road and Air Cadets over the back this was the plaice ( but really cod ) The other chip shop up on the triangle, well that was for Taunton types. So glad Vincent's is still there.

Don’t advertise that you are open till 22.00 when you’re closed at 21.30. With a party of half a dozen hungry people all looking forward to a meal only to find the place closed. Not impressed.

Waited 20 minutes for fish. Chips were only just warm. Very disappointing. No apology about the wait. Shop Not very busy either.

Cod was very smelly and tasted weird. Had to throw away. Won't be going again.

We were staying up the road in a rented barn conversion, I rang ahead a couple of days before and gave them a large order £130 worth, the food was ready for us when we arrived to pick it up and was all fresh hot and absolutely delicious!! They even threw in a free Heinz ketchup!

I have been to Ilminster several times on my way to Taunton and this is the best fish n chips shop I have ever tried in Somerset.

Not the best, the Chinese woman serving wasn't too friendly either.

When busy they have really poor communication. Chips really dry but hot so that's good! Really should wear some headgear so as to not let any hair fall in food!

Have used this fish bar ron a regular basis and have never had cause for complaint. Place your order as soon as you walk through the door and then cooked to order. Great. You do have to be very patient on a Friday when it is very busy.

Easily the best battered fish in the area - batter always crisp and delicious. Offers more that just cod and chips and children's meals too. If you want take away, cut waiting time by phoning in your order in advance. Accommodating owners, offering a friendly service.

Best pea fritters in the country!

Being open on a Monday evening (it shuts at 9pm) and the only open place serving food in Ilminster on a Monday night were key to my visit. Perhaps my expectations were to high, and while the cod was cooked to orders was ok, the batter was a bit iffy, the chips were stodgy. I ate it, due to be hunger with limited other options, and realised why I am the first to review Vincent's Fish Bar.
