Best chips around. Bought fish cakes and chips. Tasty fish cakes too. Excellent quality of food, service and value. Would recommend.

When I visit my elderly mum (92), I always go to Palmers for the classic fish and chips takeaway meal. The service is amazingly quick (even with a long queue) and always very polite with a collective "buzz" between the cooks and servers. The quality of the food is second to none; fish and batter is delicious, chips beautifully cooked and if you leave without the mushy peas and curry sauce; your loss! My mum's plate doesn't need washing up! See you again soon Palmers; I hope all the staff see this because they deserve a big thank you. 🤗

My colleague and I arrived as they we about to close so choice was limited. However my fish and chips and his battered sausage and chips were well cooked and were good sized portions too. Very tasty.

Whilst driving by we popped in for a bite to eat. Service was very good and food was delivered quickly and very hot. Definitely will go back.

Lovely quiet atmosphere, quick service. Food is awesome along with the portion sizes!! After missing fish and chips whilst living in the states, this has become my goto place when I am back visiting family!

First time trying palmers fish and chip shop very polite lady (Charlotte) served us today hubby had fish and chips I had chips and a battered sausage. Fish was beautifully cooked batter crispy but not overcooked or greasy chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside perfectly cooked golden brown and hubby loves your curry sauce definitely recommend 10/10

The food was really good the staff are friendly and kind . It did take quite a while for the food but it was quite busy. There was all the usual food you would get at a fish n chips plus more! There is breakfast lunch and dinner/tea

Good basic chips, generous portions, the staff are polite and efficient.

The review is for takeaway. Nice enough place. Good amount of chips for £2.90 although little excessive with the little tiny crunch chips. I don't mind a few but this was too much. Chips were also a little over done. Sausage was standard chippy but nice enough.

Just had regular fish and chips from the van and they were superb , fast friendly service at a reasonable price. Well done chaps

I explained that I couldn't eat battered fish and it was no problem for them to do it without. Service and food was excellent!

Stopped for a takeaway while working in the area. Great cod and chips, really crispy, not fatty and fluffy fish and potato. Service was quick and pleasant. When I'm back in the area I'll definitely go back.

Decided to finally try this chippy, food was good until I cut into one of my sausages and there was something green in the meat. It wasn’t mushy pea’s. It turned my stomach and couldn’t eat anymore, did report to the staff and only my food was refunded. I don’t think I’ll be back. You can see the green difference from the picture with actual peas

Perfect fish , had the haddock , light, crispy batter , perfectly cooked fish , chips were out of this world and if you eat in the restaurant they are unlimited !!!!

A modern, yet classy chippy experience? I ask/say this as an American... it seemed to be both a taste of old school fish n chips spot, yet modern fusion eatery. It had 2 sides, restaurant and then take away. The food comes from both, it's just your option. Pulling in for our decided take away, we worried about the wait, line was out the door with hungry ppl, but it wasn't too terrible, maybe 15 mins? Granted it seems we just happened to be on a moment that chips ran out and all made fresh. Service was relatively friendly and quick, serving portions were large, prices good for such. I got the haddock fish, but ended up trying the cod as well. Also mozzarella sticks with bbq. The chips were amazing, the classic sort I'm told, very 'moreish' and the serving was a mountain of them. At the counter there was salt and vinegar going and people shaking them in bags. Very cool, would eat here again. Only gave a 4 because unless I'm wrong, the same menu is for both sides and to sit down and get the same options seems a little lazy, but then again, I'll change that rating if I go back and am wrong. :)

Couldn't fault our dining experience in the restaurant at Palmers. Staff were very friendly and service was quick. Good portions and the cod and chips were very tasty; chips were cooked to perfection.

First time we’ve used this place’ excellent fish was lovely as were the chips’ nice lady who served us, will definitely use again, Top notch.

The prices have gone up which everybody expects but the portion size is like a kiddies meal now

We called to treat ourselves to a chip supper. It’s the only time I have had dinner and said I could eat that again. The large chip portion is the same size as the regular and the sausages have shrunk by 50% since the last visit. All told don’t bother if you’re hungry .!!!!-

We got takeaway fish and chips and it was delicious. The chips were really crispy and tasty unlike a lot of chip shops where they're soggy. Loved it.

Lovely takeaway and it does have a seated restaurant area...but the thats a bit more pricey then the takeaway....shame there's no outside seating

Called in on the way home from a long trip, good quick service by friendly staff, both had fish and chips and mush peas served quickly by friendly staff, smashing fish and chips, will definitely go again, bright clean building showing off their fish products at their best , call in you won't be disappointed

My family and myself are originally from Grimsby, so we know our fish and chips. We had a lovely meal here, the staff are very friendly and helpful, taking a lovely group photo for us. Quick and efficient service, great value for money. Thank you once again.

This used to be a happy place to visit but staff don't care like they used too. Chips come out warm sometimes and have to send them back. Why send them out in the first place. Many times fish is not fully coated and end up with hard dried fish in places. Chicken breast is the best as not fried. Side salad instead of chips would be lovely option for children especially. Staff don't smile anymore or say thank you or enjoy, just what would you like. The more mature gentleman who serves in the restaurant is the only one who you see happy and enjoying his job. Some staff don't know how to print receipts so write it on scrap paper. Manager also didn't know how too. Just told waitress just write It out then, what do you want me to do. It seems like it's about the money and not customer anymore. Used to go a minimum 2 times a week but now once a month at most. Hit and miss. The town centre location was 100 percent better as they took pride and you could see they enjoyed serving customers. Sad it closed.

I came into palmers at 8.58 yesterday evening, shuts at 9.30 5 of us wanted a take away fish and chips our orders were taken With l serious attitude and we were refused a lot of things saying they had run out. we were refused kids fish and chips refused battered sausage half a chicken, chicken breast, then we ordered mushy peas, curry sauce which we were then refused, a cook came to give us a refund who had a worse attitude than even the person on the till my wife and In-laws were in shock of the attitude we received the staff acted like they wanted to be anywhere but there . We completely felt like we were an inconvenience , this is a real shame beacuse the food was decent, and when we have sat in the restaurant on numerous occasions before we recieved great food and service.

Used palmers for years but this was a disappointment, grey fish greasy batter and soggy inside , it was comparable to other poor fish and chips .. gone down hill

Just moved to yeovil and great to find a good chippy! Reasonably priced, friendly service. Nice and busy in the restaurant and takeout which is a good sign too! Great curry sauce!

The first time we moved down to yeovil we had fish and chips from here as one of the local chippy went down hill the chips are to die for and the fish is amazing the curry sauce is brilliant the staff are amazing very quick it can get quite busy at the weekends so pays to get there a bit earlier

Picked up 81 meals for a local quiz. On time and delicious.Who else could have managed this quantity? I did pre-order first!!

Shame that the other branch closed, the portion sizes here are stingy. For some reason they don't sell jumbo sausages, and you have to add your own salt and vinegar. Quality is good though.

Pretty terrible to be honest. Chips where OK but fish was dreadful. Tiny portion and had been sat around for ages. It was dripping in fat and batter was soft. I could ring fat out of it which actually turned the misses stomach. Binned the lot, £20 wasted and had to go back out and buy tea elsewhere.

My first time at Palmer's restaurant. Extremely efficient service. The food was awesome.,cooked amazingly not greasy in any way. The curry sauce was the best I've had. Cleanest toilets I've ever seen

What can we say? We have been going here for many years as a couple or with family and the standard of the food is excellent served up by super, friendly staff in surroundings that are kept as clean as one could possibly imagine. All of this is certainly worthy of a five star rating BUT we have never yet been successful in finding a table free from cold draughts which appear to be coming from what looks like massive air conditioning units mounted on the ceiling. These ‘things’ not only force customers to wrap up well while dining but also to try to enjoy the wonderful fare which has gone cold half way through the meal. Please try to do something about this problem - not just ignore the review.

The food was great , the service excellent and the restaurant was spotless as always.

Staff were friendly and accommodating and both fish and chips were cooked brilliantly and well flavoured. Would eat here again and very happy to recommend.

I am well travelled around the UK and fish and chips is my chosen staple. Palmers are in my top 5 of places to eat from the way the staff have a look of appreciation that you are there, smiling staff are very important they made being served a pleasure as I find going into busy places difficult. I felt very welcome. The chips as well as the Fish were cooked to a crunchy delicious mouth watering taste and my Springer Spaniel enjoyed his sausage. See you all again.

On two recent visits to the restaurant we have found the cod either heated up or over cooked and on the most recent visit the chips also had lots of small hard bits, maybe the last ones in the scoop. Is there a new person cooking or have we been unlucky as certainly not up to the usual high standard. Don't take the public for granted and get back to the usual quality

Had a takeout as late home from work. Excellent Fish and Chips a Chicken and Chips. Fish Cakes ain't bad either. Would always recommend it.

We stayed and ate in the restaurant and ordered the Seniors meal as very hearty and really enjoyed it

We go here for a treat & sit in. Now we don’t mind paying £15.50 (to sit in) instead of £8.50 (takeaway) for a Haddock as it’s always been the best Haddock around but this visit we were bitterly disappointed as the haddock had shrunk to half the size in fact it was smaller than the cod! I asked if it was indeed haddock & was told yes but it was just smaller now. Gone was a lovely chunky meaty haddock to be replaced by something that was more like a wishy washy pollock.

Popped in for a fish and chips lunch after seeing a film screening at Westlands. Very quick service and good value for money.

Deciding to eat in was probably my mistake! £4.80 for a portion of chips! £2.80 for a glass of Coke.. Admittedly I should’ve looked at the prices before ordering but I do use other Fish and Chip shops and their prices are far more reasonable. The food was good but way too expensive!

Changed the seating in the restaurant now you can hardly move in there, people you don't know having to share tables,, we won't be coming back .hate the changes not good, craming as many tables in so you can make more profit but you have just lost 5 regulars. Well done 👏

Lovely food but chip portion size has gotten smaller and smaller for the takeaway side of this shop. Me and my partner are not huge eaters but you need a large portion each to be enough chips
