great place old school pub drinks you wont find anywhere else £3.60 for a pint of extra stout better than guiness very good value

Walked in one door with no-tech notice (absolutely fine) - was deathly silent. Libraries are louder. Went to bar, few people in - staring, as if we'd interrupted a funeral. Woman crept up behind, told us no children (son is 15 and doesn't need to be glued to a screen), as if it was obvious. Left through same door, looking for no kids rule. None. Went round corner to Cholmondely Arms - passed the other door - STILL no "no kids" notice. Went there for a reasonably quiet drink, chat (which is what they apparently encourage) and play Uno - NOT with phones etc. Unless all conversation stopped because "outsiders" walked in - there was NO conversation at all.

Popped in before going for our chippy tea, what a pleasant surprise, friendly barstaff helped us select our drinks which were very cheap and good quality. No phones which was gently enforced , lovely fire and great decor not a hint of grey paint anywhere, very traditional. Will call in again

End of the evening drink after having a few in a much nicer nearby pub that closed early. Unfriendly staff and a tatty and grubby decor that needs an upgrade. Basically pretty awful and we left after 1 beer

Loved this pub years back for a quiet drink. Now no tech. My phone rang as they do and one of the bar staff rush around the corner to check me out. I declined the call like a good boy. A few minutes later his landlordship came over to sound us out. He looked like he'd had a few. After he ignored a polite comment I made about his pub I just got up and went for a piss. And he took the hint.
