The Golden Fleece in South Kesteven

Wonderful Sunday lunch here today, just like home cooked and the lamb was fantastic . All the family enjoyed their choices, the beef, chicken and the lamb. All served with a massive Yorkshire pudding and delicious vegetables. Big thanks to Mandy and her team.

Excellent Sunday lunch - just like Mother used to make! We're on a visit to the UK from our home in Spain and there were two things on our food bucket list - a good Sunday lunch and good Fish and Chips. This has certainly ticked the Sunday lunch box! Really good sized portions of home cooked food, well cooked and well served. Don't think we will be able to find better! Thoroughly recommend the Golden Fleece but you need to book.

Went in today for breakfast, it seemed perfect as breakfast served all day and plenty of other options. The food was really lovely, however I would not return. The staff are really rude and acted as though their customers were putting them out by being there. Huffing and puffing about and not friendly at all, didn’t ask how the food was and didn’t say a nice word to anyone felt like we were totally in the way. They also sat doing their stock take/reordering right in the centre of the bar area where people were sitting to eat and shouting to each other about what was missing and what they would need to pop to Aldi/other supermarkets for if the supplier didn’t have it. There was plenty of empty space it seemed odd to do it right where all their customers would be sitting or ordering.

We originally visited The Golden Fleece for the Everards beer. Since then, we have been going about once a month for lunch and a drink. There is a lovely old wooden bar and a great atmosphere with a very varied clientele. The food is not exactly gourmet but always fresh, piping hot and enjoyable, the Caesar salad is the best I have had anywhere and the chips are brilliant.

Visited Stanford on Sunday 16th April and dropped off at the Golden fleece for Sunday lunch. Good atmosphere if typical English pub, good menu and drink options. We both had lamb Sunday roast which was fresh and piping hot, vegetables in a separate dish to share and mint sauce brought without having to ask for it. Could also have desert for extra £4 which again was fresh and piping hot Staff were busy and clearly worked hard but were still very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this pub

Visited today and can't fault the Sunday lunch for 10 plus the hospitality and friendliness which were unrivalled. Thoroughly recommended. We received a warm welcome, excellent food and exemplary service. Really made my birthday special with friends and family who had flown in from Australia.

We popped in here today as table of 7 with no reservation. Despite the pub being very busy the team were quick to move tables around to accommodate us and made us feel incredibly welcome. The menu had loads of choice and was reasonably priced. Food came quickly, was piping hot and absolutely delicious! But what really made our visit was the great atmosphere, a great mix of family’s, lads enjoying a drink and locals singing along to the duke box. The icing on the cake was our 2 dogs were welcome too.

We visited here for lunch. We hadn’t booked but was quickly seated & our order taken. We opted for the pork Sunday roast & cheekily requested extra crackling. Food was brought through quickly, generous size portions along with a small bowl of extra crackling!!! Food was hot & delicious especially the cauliflower cheese. A dessert of apple crumble completed our lovely lunch. Staff were attentive & friendly as were the locals/regulars that were in there. Think this place is a hidden gem

We had a simple lunch, paninis and cold lagers, sitting outside in the sun. There is a lovely sun trap at the front of the pub. It also looked good inside, although football was on, and toilets were clean. Service was friendly. Tables were cleared quickly. Only grumble was the paninis weren’t very hot and the cheese hadn’t melted. Otherwise, all good.

Great place to sit outside. Brunch was good. Coffee was served unprofessionally from a machine, luke warm and half a cup. Bar person was slow and vague at was she was supposed to be doing.

Stopped in Stamford for lunch and went to the Golden Fleece for a drink and something to eat. Wanted to sit outside as it was a great day and the staff soon found us a table. Visited today for lunch with my husband,I ordered a Cheese and Bacon Panini my husband ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger,the waitress told me it doesn't look like a Panini but it is one,it hasn't got the lines on it,okay no problem I said,it came with crisps and a small salad,it was a small Bagette cut in half,not even toasted,the Cheese wasn't melted and the Bacon was full of fat,the crisps were hard,I had to pull the fat off the Bacon to eat it and left it all on the plate,my husbands Burger had the same Bacon in it,full of fat,he picked his Burger up to eat it and greese from the Burger ran out.Went to pay and wasn't asked how was your meal,I think she knew by the amount I left.

In an age when many pubs are faceless, anonymous emporiums, it is refreshing to see a town centre establishment that retains a "locals" feel. Competitively priced, welcoming and centrally located.
