The Goat Inn in Gwynedd

Booked a table for 3 for a birthday celebration. Friendly welcome by the manager. Busy on arrival at 630pm on Saturday, 19th October. Warm atmosphere. Drinks order taken quickly. Really enjoyed my rosé wine. Three lovely meals served. Steak, gammon and garlic chicken. Good food and good service. All staff were friendly and efficient. This is a very popular place and booking is recommended. We will be back soon.

All 4 of us had a fab eve meal, lamb was particularly good. Service was excellent and our waitress with long plaited hair (forgotten her name soz) was very engaging without being intrusive. Highly recommended!! Amblers & Thomas's

An absolutely wonderful visit today. Food was good quality, very tasty and good portion sizes. Don’t tell mom but it’s the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time. The service and staff were amazing and the atmosphere was calm and homey even though they were busy. Will definitely be coming back next time we are over that way

The Manager went to great lengths to ensure that my dietary requirements were met. We had braised Welsh lamb and duck in Morello cherry sauce. Both were excellent. The desserts were very good, too.

We visited the Goat twice in quick succession - the food was lovely and the menu had enough choice to sustain multiple visits. The chips were excellent!

Wonderful meal & lovely staff - they fitted us in for my birthday meal although they were really busy. Would recommend highly but book well in advance, they are very popular

From the fabulous welcome by the Maitre'D, (sorry I don't have your name), to the superb attention from Cheryl and the team, and, lastly but most importantly, the quality of our meals, excellent! We are so lucky to have this amazing hostelry so close to home.

We booked a table of 21 plus a dog & were so well looked after. Food was exceptional & the service was great particularly the manager whose hospitality was second to none.

We arrived and was greeted with a very welcoming atmosphere, showed us to our table and everything was table service which was nice not having to que at a bar for our drinks. The setting is very cosy and a country pub feel. We had a three course meal. Fresh warm bread with salted butter as we waited for our drinks and starter. The pate was very tasty, my partner had the prawns with a thai sweet chilli sauce, we both had the beef , which melted in my mouth,with mash roasties and a big yorkshire pudding and veg to share, the home made crumble was the best ive had in a long time. Everything was so fresh. We had lovely service from the staff and we left feeling very satisfied, we will be going back again very soon. Thank you very much

One of the best meals I've ever eaten. Lovely environment, friendly staff and great tasting food. Everything was amazing in taste and good portion sizes. It was also nice to bring the dogs with us.

Food was okay but didn't meet expectations based on hype. I guess if you are a meat eater, this is a place that works for you, but as vegetarians it's not the best we have had. Have never had tagliatelle before that was more like soup. Service, decor and ambience was excellent.

Went here for tea on the last night of our half term trip and we definitely saved the best until last. Very friendly and attentive staff, spending time to not simply ‘do the job’ but talking to ourselves and the kids about all sorts of things, despite clearly being busy. We booked in advance and I would suggest also so as not to miss out. Really great menu - I would highly recommend the sticky mini sausages and halloumi fries both glazed in honey 😍 to start. Plentiful selection on the mains and portion sizes were very good.

We visited this restaurant twice during our week stay locally. Both times the food was absolutely amazing and we all left with very full bellies. They accept dogs on certain tables which was helpful for us. The staff were really friendly and great with our children. Parking is great and also there is an overflow car park if needed.

Third time we’ve visited as we found this place 4 years ago and loved it! The good thing is the food hadn’t changed, still amazing taste, big portions and the service time was great too. Sadly it would appear it’s lost the customer service side of things, we arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday. Understandable a booking would be required however: 1. Website wasn’t working. 2. No answer on the phone on Friday or the Saturday. Anyway we live 2.5 hours away came down to the area to walk our dog and just get away from normal life. We decided to arrive for opening in the hope we could sneak a quick bite. I asked politely at the desk saying we don’t have a booking as we haven’t been able to get through, but any chance you can squeeze 2 of us in? And before I could finish my sentence a short red haired lady with glasses (who I’m assuming was some form of supervisor) rudely stated, we’re fully booked no space for walk ins. Didn’t once even suggest to have a look or to see what she could do. Anyway I asked a young lad and another lady with long red hair, who were far more helpful and kind. They were able to see there was 1 table free but they needed it back by 8pm. Amazing thank you! Like I’ve said the food was great; garlic mushrooms and halloumi for starters, Welsh steak and a buttermilk chicken burger both amazing. But I’m really disappointed that the basic level of customer service and decorum was lost on the shirt red haired lady. We spent £65 in your pub, ok maybe not much but in a time where people perhaps can’t go out for food and spend £65 you should reevaluate your mannerism and how you approach customers. We sat down at 5:30 and left by 6:30. You definitely could have accommodated us. Oh and another thing, a family of 6 sat behind us with an Akita and soon as they sat down she offered them a sausage and a bowl of water for their dog. Despite the fact we had our dog too. We never got offered anything. Did we rub her up the wrong direction because we got a table?

We were at party of 11 for a birthday meal. We live locally,and have visited occasionally over the last 45 years ! The whole experience was excellent ,our pre ordered meal came exactly as ordered which is very good. We are localish about 20min away, went last night 12th Jan, a very warm welcome seated straight away, gave drinks order as we sat and food order within 10min, OMG best king prawn and chorizo I’ve ever had, it was soooo good I ordered a second as takeout and we have eaten that tonight 13th. Hubby had beef and butter squash wellington he also really enjoyed the food, he said best mash ever. The staff were attentive without being a pain. Beautiful pub, lovely atmosphere, very welcoming staff. Service was excellent, menu was very varied and food was delicious. Can’t fault anything, wish we lived closer.

We drove past this pub on the way to Porthmadog and booked a table as soon as we arrived at the hotel as the outside aesthetic caught our eye. I would recommend booking in advance as we struggled to get a table! The staff could not have been friendlier and absolutely loved our little cockapoo! I ordered the gammon and Connor ordered the chicken and both were absolutely delicious. I would say the pricing is a little more on the expensive side but the portions were huge so not really when you think about it. I would recommend coming here for food definitely. We are sad we couldn’t get booked in more times!

The Goat never disappoints! Have been going here for so many years and have never experienced a bad meal. Beautiful food, excellent service, clean and also recently refurbished. Booking essential as it's always busy, even midweek Can't recommend it highly enough!

We all enjoyed dinner at The Goat. The pate was perfect. The beef stew was superb. The helpings were just right for us, as we hadn’t had any lunch. We will go back when we are in Wales next year. Staff were very polite. A 10 out of 10 all round.
