Penbont Inn in Gwynedd

The food here was really disappointing, raw un exciting pizza toppings which actually varied from what was stated on the menu combined with a burnt base. Worst pizza I have ever had and I am surprised it was deemed suitable quality to serve. If I wasn’t totally exhausted and starving from hiking I wouldn’t have eaten here. Plate collection took a long time, overall a dissatisfactory service.

Excellent warm welcoming, especially for groups of people visiting the area on walking trips. I’ll be definitely returning, it definitely would be my local if only local. Rich Barnes York

I stayed here at the last minute a few weekends ago when we had come to Wales (my first time) and we booked here on a whim and it was amazing!! The lady behind the bar was lovely!! And the handful of locals I met were so welcoming!! Apart from none of them being a Tottenham fan but I can get over that haha! The room was spotless, the people were lovely I fell in love with the place thank you so much!!! Elle

We were looking for a place to sleep for the night, just somewhere to rest before moving on and the Penbont Inn, booked via AirB&B fit the bill perfectly. The accommodation is cheap, low budget and no-frills, located above a pub in an old, worn building. However, it's clean and has everything you need for a short stay. The pub downstairs was fantastic, with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. We’d definitely stay there again.

Always a great time when I visit here, it's definitely more of a locals place, but don't let that deter you, the people here are amazing, definitely worth a visit 10/10

Lovely pub/restaurant, had a very tasty meal. Would recommend having the Welsh lamb chops - they were delicious! Staff very welcoming and friendly.

Came across this pub when camping down the road. The barmaid was absolutely fantastic, we were made to feel very welcome and the locals were lovely. They put the football on for us, the service was absolutely fantastic and our dog was welcomed with open arms. We had a lovely night, the drinks were a great price. We really couldn’t recommend this place any more and will definitely be returning. Thankyou.

Great car park for motorhome stopover. Landlady very friendly. Great atmosphere. Dogs and children allowed. Excellent experience.

In for a drink from the local campsite, staff and customers very friendly and welcoming. Didn't eat or see any food at the time we were there. Like the look of the gammon steak in the photos, so sorry didn't have time. Quite a busy little pub all round.

Didn't eat or drink here, just stayed in a room upstairs. The service was very pleasant and helpful, the kitchen is well equipped with milk, cereal, crockery etc. It could be said you get what you pay for in terms of the quality and cleanliness of the room and bathroom - e.g. a few cobwebs and one duvet and the hand towel in the bathroom smelt of smoke.

Great little pub atmosphere. Pool and darts and super friendly service and locals!

Stayed for overnight! booked using Airbnb. Good experience there, there was Bar, Kitchen, Well maintained room! Taxi services were available as well! Enjoyed it!!!

I stayed for 2 nights at the penbont inn as I was climbing snowdon as a solo female traveller. The bunk room was great and met some fantastic people in the common room they have which included tea, coffee, microwave etc. The staff were amazing and so helpful when I asked for different routes, walks etc. I felt very welcomed straight away and this made me feel at ease. I had a drink and made some great friends at the pub! I also loved the food!! Yum! A great selection and perfect for pub food. I would definitely recommend the Penbont Inn for solo travellers, friends and families. I will be back next year!! :)

Basic accommodation over village pub. (Airbnb) Big bedroom, well equipped large kitchen for self catering. Pub food available (I think, I didn't eat there).

We found this pub on Google Maps as we were camping fairly close by. We felt very welcomed by everyone, service was brilliant, atmosphere was great everyone there was clearly having a great night! We had burgers and chips which were really tasty and a great price! If you want to be warmly welcomed whilst in Wales, definitely give this pub a visit!

Stop here for two nights in one of the four bed rooms , great base for all the attractions. The staff are brilliant really friendly, the food is excellent a real good honest pub . Definitely go back for another stay .

The landlady's were absolute gems, never walked into a pub and felt so welcomed. They are utterly fabulous! Wish we could have stayed longer in this humble abode, tantalising food, great atmosphere, drinks guaranteed to wet your whistle... and prices that'll make every hour happy! :D

Refused sale as 3 of us forgot IDs except for one,which is fair enough but we know that this pub is run by a family and they sell alcohol to one of the underaged members in the family. They should reconsider who/when they ID. We also popped to the toilets,they were dirty and unhygenic

Looked on Facebook for places to go in the area . I was travelling alone and felt comfortable in this bar . No frills traditional pub serving freshly cooked pub grub. Staff were very friendly made me feel welcome. Thank you very much for your hospitality will pop back if I’m in the area

We were recommended this pub by someone at our campsite. So, we were out for the day and was about 19:30pm so we thought we would give this pub a try. When we arrived, there were about 5 people in the pub. I asked the lady if they were dog friendly to which she said yeah. We went in and were told they were only doing pizza and burgers. There were 2 bar staff, so we sat down and waited to be served when we were told we could come to the bar I stated that the signs say you have to be seated to which the lady behind the bar rolled her eyes and turned the sign around, we laughed this off. Went to the bar and ordered our food, whilst waiting the guy in the scruffy clothing and long beard decided to roll a cigarette up and then kindly gave out a loud belch without excusing himself or anything. Absolutely disgraceful. So up comes our orders which should have been two cheeseburgers with fries. We were the only 2 people that ordered food and they couldn’t get that right we hand hamburgers and fries. I felt really uncomfortable in this pub was not a nice atmosphere, so I told my hubby not to complain lets just eat and go to which we did. Would not recommend this place.

Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch! Plenty of meat choices I had Turkey and Beef, the food was delicious! Food was served quickly didn’t have to wait a long time. I then had dessert - sticky toffee pudding I had the choice of fresh ice cream or custard. This was very yummy! The staff was brilliant and very welcoming, beer prices are soooooo cheap!! This pub has got a great atmosphere and I did feel at home :)

Sometimes things are too good to be true, like trip advisor reviews!! This time though the reviews ARE true. 2nd best Sunday roast I’ve ever had, only beaten my Mums. We stayed at a nearby campsite after reading reviews on this site, so glad we did. Friendly welcome on the phone (best to book) and on arrival. Felt like a never ending plateful of freshly prepared food was put in front of us. Highly recommend spending a Sunday afternoon here, especially if a sports fan as all games are shown on big screen. However worth remembering this is a small town, getting a taxi was a nightmare. Not the pubs fault but worth keeping in mind.

went for drinks with friends, amazing atmosphere, was very busy, staff were quick to serve and very friendly, tried the new take away service there, hands down the best cheese burger i have had in a very long time, only problem i have now is deciding how often Im going to be eating there, great prices, great service and great food, very happy customer

One of the best Sunday Lunches in the area, proper full plate of tasty food. Everything was cooked perfectly, plentiful and tasty, service was good and food came out quickly and hot. Lady who brought the food out was very nice and had a great personality. Can’t recommend this place enough for Sunday dinner, prices are very reasonable too.

Called in for early evening drink. Very friendly service. Lovely atmosphere. Very quick service. Frank friendly (dog friendly!) Frank was served with a bowl of water straight away.

Went to the Penbont with some friends to watch the game on the big screen - had the best day full of entertainment and enthusiastic staff! I returned on the Sunday for some Sunday lunch - I highly recommend. Best chef in Gwynedd! You will not be disappointed See you next week.

A warm welcome received by landladies and staff. Choice of meats and veg, fantastic fast service by smiley wsitress. All fresh home cooked food. ROAST POTATOES TO DIE FOR. will definately be back. Highly recommended. You will not be dissapointed.

well after reading reviews about the sunday roasts we went for one and we were not disapointed good value for money 5 different veg yorkshire puds roast potatoes stuffing a choice of meats chicken beef or pork. good size slices and a separate plate with mashpotato and boiled potatoes! very friendly people will be going back there again when in the area.

I have been a few times, the food on Sundays is cheap but the portion provided is generous and delicious, the ale is good and the atmosphere is fantastic and makes you feel like a local wether you're welsh or not.

Fuimos allí hoy domingo 16 de agosto con 16 7-10 de mi familia para comer el domingo. Es un antiguo pub adecuado de Gales. La elección fue pollo o carne y sé que ambos eran muy tiernas carnes y sabor delicioso! El tamaño de las porciones son enormes y Con una gran relación calidad-precio, te dan coliflor coles Coles Runner frijoles y zanahorias, patatas con puré de patata asada con patatas nuevas y un montón de salsa ... lugar encantador y el personal muy agradable. Deseo que era más local!!

Si puedes soportar real gente amable de Gales junto con una mezcla de 'la de los extranjeros : - )! Este es el lugar. La casera y el propietario es genial, la gente es super y no se puede ayudar pero tienen unas cuantas risas de la danza del vientre mientras allí. El almuerzo de domingo es sobrecogedoras y necesitará una siesta después. Una visita, un auténtico ambiente boozer galés!

Tuvimos una gran domingo cena. Como madre utilizada para hacer. Muy buena relación calidad-precio. Viene en dos tamaños. Pequeñas o grandes. Sólo vamos para el grande si tienes un gran apetito. Hay mucho para elegir. Carne, pollo o cerdo. Muchos en el plato. No son tacaños con las verduras. Y un pud de Yorkshire. Genial.

Decided to try here for Sunday Lunch as we had heard it was a Sunday Lunch 'just like mum used to make'.They weren't wrong!Beautifully cooked tender beef,mash/new potatoes in a seperate piping-hot side dish.Sprouts!Cabbage,runner beans and Yorkshire puds with a seperate gravy boat.Absolutely delicious.Service was very good, attentive but not intrusive.Good beer and good value!This was our first visit but definately not our last as we are regularly in the area hiking and visiting friends.Friendly locals too!Thank you for making us feel so welcome.
